The ratings are out for the week of April 30th-May 4th and we can report that General Hospital has moved up to the number three spot surpassing Days of our Lives which now slips to fourth!  GH added +53,000 total viewers for the week,  plus added the most viewers in the key 18-49 female demo with + 66,000, and even gained on the male viewer side adding another +2,ooo eyeballs in that demo!  All said, General Hospital had a total of 2.4 million plus viewers for this ratings period.

Now as for DAYS, it lost – 52,000 viewers for the week, but they did not lose the most of all the soaps.  That dubious honor would go to The Young and the Restless who once again had a bad week losing -152,000 viewers, but still retained its top spot.  The Bold and the Beautiful on the other hand has been very consistent of late garnering viewers, and in this ratings period added the most viewers of all the daytime soaps with +73,000.

So what do you think is working over at GH and B&B that is making people tune-in?  What do you think is not working over at DAYS and Y&R that is making people tune-out?  Let us know!  Make sure to look at the entire soap ratings picture courtesy of Soap Opera Network by clicking here!

OLTL PEEPS HELP!

I love the mix of GH & OL it is exciting!
To combine 2 soaps is going to be what will save other failing soaps.
However GH has a mere 4 from OLTL ..
Not actually a combining of the two. soaps, not at all.
Nonetheless it is working very well.. And a very good plan..

I think that the OLTL peeps have helped but I also think it is the great acting from the GH vets that are helping. Luke, Anna,Tracy, Heather oh my!!

Though i wish they did not have to repeat the DID and baby switching storylines again…

THAT’S WHY I AM WATCHING.

no doubt in my mind that the OLTL fans have given a lifeline to GH.. YR right now is unbearable they need to clean house with the writing staff!

I agree and please reunite SHADAM. Chelsea and Adam DONT work

I totally agree and the cleaning should start with MAB!!! Bring back Kay Alden.

You know, I am not usually one to pick on Y&R, but I am with you. Not only are there way too many characters, but what is with the wardrobes last week? You had Nikki and Sharon arguing at the Newman Ranch in almost matching red dresses. I kept thinking I was watching a scene from some doppleganger movie or something. Then if that was not bad enough, Nikki was wearing that hot pink dress while standing in the middle of the GCA and arguing with Victor. I kept seeing over his shoulder a woman in a hot pink dress dining. And then there was Daisy and Phyllis both kind of strawberry blondes wearing white at Jimmy’s.

And then there is Blake Hood recast as Kyle who looks so much like Michael Muhney as Adam it isn’t even funny. Couldn’t they make them look differently?

And don’t get me started on Sharon Case’s hair. It is always the same old part down the middle with the fly-aways and all those straggly lines from the camera are not flattering. Give the lady a nice up-do or a side part. She is gorgeous for goodness sakes. Do something!

I don’t know what they are doing at Y&R, but I watch that show FIRST and then I watch GH because it is my favorite these days. it is like a little cliffhanger every night. My guilty pleasure after a long day with my little ones. I am so proud of them for the turnaround.

I agree, hair and wardrobe on Y&R needs work, but that won’t make or break it. The Victor/Sharon pairing is disgustong. Daisy, Harmony and Sophia should fall off the cliff and Dru should climb back up in their place. Why get rid of Ashley? Of all the crappy characters on that show and they dump Ashley?

GH is firing on all cylinders…writing, acting, balance is better…just great soap. LOVING the OLTL and vet actors/characters. Keep rocking.

B&B has a lot going for it, but personally tired of the trangle.

DOOL? Needs help, STAT! But hopeful it will improve.

Well, the OLTL characters are one reason I am trying to “get into” GH. However the best part of GH right now is Robin Mattson.

She is good isn’t she? I’ve always loved her in any soap she has been on and I liked her as janet from another planet on all my children.

While I was a OLTL fan from when the show first aired and think it is wonderful that some of the characters are now on GH, I am THRILLED that Robin Mattson is back. I was a viewer during the ’70’s/80’s and she was a favorite character. I also loved her as Gina on Santa Barbara. She & Justin Deas were an amazing pair.

I still remember Robin from Santa Barbara. I was just a teenager when that show was on so I never saw any of her other work. I am lucky to see her as Heather and what a piece of work she is. Superb acting!

And classics like the beautiful Finola Hughes and Tony Geary don’t hurt either!

General hospital has a lot of good talent. And finally we are getting to see all of them instead of the same old Sonny and jason show, Who needs the mob? I don’t mind bringing the mob up once in a while but for years it has been one big mob story followed by another mob story and the same boring stories played over, and over, again. Robin was good on Santa barbara, all my children , and general hospital, I hope she doesn’t play a That bad of a person that eventually ends up in jail, I would like for her to stay in Port charles. Did I mention That girl can act and she is good at it?

Just so everyone will know the rumor is Tea & Sam have their baby on the same day and we are going to have maybe another baby switch etc in the horizon. I hope this is not true do we really need to go down there again.

So true! I’m only watching for the OLTL actors! I remember when Robin Mattson was on GL, then GH, then AMC! I’m glad to see her back on GH but who knows for how long? And I’m also liking the actress who plays Kate/Connie! Really good!

GH moved up because Days is in chaos and very boring now. Cartini has done nothing special at GH. For the most part they have repeated worn out Guza plots and the show is still the Sonny, Carly, Jason and Sam show. Kris Alderson is doing nothing for the ratings. Michael Easton and Roger Howarth are compelling but this is not their show. This is GH. I wish Cartini would remember that. One Life was ok in it’s place but it wont save GH.

Wrong, Michael easton and roger howarth are compelling, your words, And general hospital is their show now. General hospital hasn’t been this good in many years, It’s most definitely watchable now, My afternoon naps during gh are over, and I believe general hospital will go even higher in the ratings, Thanks to the cross overs, the gh vets, and the brilliant writing.

Days is boring with the stupid ISA agents and Stefano storyline! Leave it alone! Also, it took Rafe a month to tell Carrie the truth about Nicole’s baby, and now she cannot even tell Austin she wants a divorce so she can be with Rafe? And she is leaving, prob Caustin endgame so Nicole and Rafe will end up together. Not bad, but I love EJole and Cafe, so…
Days will pick up with the EJami scenes, Stefano’s arrest, Will coming out, Nicole’s baby, Lumi scenes and the departure of the new/returned characters/cast.

Y&R is just same old same old boring storylines with musicAl beds, so it is losing viewers.

Calling it their show is not only grossly disrespectful to long time GH fans like me and its ridiculous. Cartini has been literally assaulted on Twitter with complaints from only GH fans who resent their presence.
The truth is that if Cartini were dedicated to doing their jobs we wouldnt need Micheal or Roger. I could write GH today and make it compelling without them or Kris Alderson. GH’s history is rich and doesnt need implants from any other show to support it if it were in competent hands. But Cartini is too concerned with giving their former employees jobs and continuing their defunct show. SMH.

Love seeing John & Tea but still can’t stand Starr & Todd!

I have watched general hospital for 49 years and I have no problems with the crossovers, New people come and go on the soaps all the time so what if they come from another soap and they are keep their same names. There are a lot of one life to live fans watching general hospital so its helping to bring the ratings up. Anything that will help to save general hospital from abc’s chopping block I say do it. General hospital was my first soap to watch so I do care about what is going on and anything to keep it going for another 50 years is good.Ron and Frank helped to keep it on for another year,Hopefully we get a higher renewal next time and keep going for several years, I know that’s what I want.

Right there with ya! (except I’ve ‘only’ been watching for 40 years) 🙂

So happy Gh has moved up in the ratings! And it is due to the new writers and OLTL crossovers.
However still want OLTL back and still boycotting ABC/Disney except for watching GH.
YnR..needs a good house cleaning and some new spark to their S/Ls.

I’m glad GH is doing well, also. But, you are right, we need One Life to Live back on the air, and not just as repeats. Just started watching Days this week, after not watching it for many years. It now has the storylines that GH used to have, before the gangsta storylines took over. Bold and Beautiful reminds me of a Harlequin romance: easy to watch, and satisfying in the end.

Still boycotting ABC/Disney, except for GH. Want One Life to Live back on the air.

One Life to Live is gone and it will never air on ABC again. The sets have been destroyed. And as far as GH doing well you all need to realize that the climate @ Disney has not changed. Their original plan was to phase out soaps and that hasnt changed.
They are just looking for a suitable replacement and GH will be toast. Anne Sweeny hasnt softened her heart to the daytime genre. And boycotting ABC is a waste of time.Disney is a multi billion dollar conglomerate. The Avengers which was distributed by Disney earned a record 207 million its first week. Lol.
The only way any of these soaps will get back on the air is if someone ponies up the cash to buy the rights. Otherwise AMC and OLTL are gone forever. The sets have been destroyed, the actors are moving on. That’s a rap people, time to move on.

I agree with you that AMC and OLTL are 100% gone forever. They are never coming on ABC or on any other network. ABC will never accept to sell the rights of these two iconic shows to anyone.

However I still think that GH can be saved. If GH gets good ratings, ABC won’t have any reason to cancel it. So keep watching GH to bring the ratings up. Boycott The Chew and GMA.

Get your story straight! The sets have not been destroyed! All the costumes & the sets were sold to Prospect Park! They have everything! AMC & OLTL will probably not come back but everything is still there!

OLTL has been a savior to General Hospital and the show has been roaring thr the ratings list ever since OLTL characters have been brought over. It will continue to climb as they add more of OLTL . I like a show that has me sitting on the edge of my seat with my face glued to the screen and thats exactly what Genertal Hospital has done. Kudos to the Directors and Writing staff and the actors, you definately have a “Winner”

OK Cartini brings in a “B” grade actress to play out a ridiculous split personality plot and that’s “saving” GH, lol. What a crock.
Kris Alderson waves a gun and grossly over acts all day long and that’s saving GH? Get a grip, lol.

LOL Now thats funny “dg” Before OLTL was brought into the mix GH was on a slow road to nowhere and since then the ratings have sky rocketed. If no one can see that I say you need help. I think the writers have really turned everything around for the better!

The Kate/Connie character was on before Ron/Frank took over, wasn’t gh saved? So I think general hospital is going in the right direction. I think you should get a grip or just change the channel.lol

Kelly Sullivan is a much better actress than the boring Megan Ward and was recast before Cartini took over & Garin Wolf started the DID story so they kept it. I think the show is 1000% better & love the OLTL characters

I agree with you Debbie Hamiton, the cross overs from one life to live helped the ratings go up. General hospital is finally watchable again and I love it, I started watching g h when it began 49 years ago and I have no problem with it, One life to live was the better soap of all the 3 abc soaps, general hospital will never be better then one life to live, what little part of landview I do get to see in port charles I am grateful to have. Ron and Frank are doing a brilliant job in restoring gh to where it was before the mob garbage, Being a faithful watcher made me tune in every day and it was bad, bad writing and the stories sucked, Now its watchable and I love how everything is coming together with The gh vets and the one life to live crossovers.

I agree. If Ron & Frank had come over and kept GH status quo… ABC probably wouldn’t have cancelled the revulsion over GH… gotta mix it up, add new blood, new storylines, move up the pace in order to make things interesting, more exciting, to get new veiwers and bring up the ratings. GH was sinking before ALL the OLTL additions (including R&F)

There is nothing new on General Hospital. It’s amazing that all of you have fallen for nothing but a smokescreen. Kate/Connie is ignorant drivel in the tradition of Jess, Tess, Bess and Wess. Todd Manning and McBain will do nothing but prop up the Guza era mob. Meanwhile the GH vets like Finola Hughes are little more than window dressing. SMH. As for GH’s future-it’s still toast. Disney hired developers to create more than 30 different shows along with The Chew and The Rev. Anne Sweeny and Bob Iger have no love lost for soaps. GH will quite probably get the ax in 2013. Cartini are no saviors to GH. They have shown little creativity and their nepotism where their former employees are concerned is shameful and they are the most irresponsible execs I have seen in over 42 yrs of watching daytime TV. SMH.

Poor Days of Our Lives! It wasn’t bad last week. (Altho these numbers aren’t based on the whole safe house thing, I guess) Other than the snooze-fest that is Carrie and Rafe, the show is interesting most days, at least…. Though yesterday’s episode was a complete bore. Maybe since we now know that nothing happening right now “counts” since the show is getting yet another re-boot people feel. “Why bother?”? Next week Will comes out to Sami and Lucas, supposedly. I wish Sonny was there to support Will with all the “deaths in the family”. Plus, I would love to see more Doug and Julie and more Maggie and Victor. My fav Days stuff was always the Kiriakis breakfast table. Get Chloe and Brady and Phillip and Nicole and throw Kate in there somehow and maybe Melanie since she is related to Mags and her Dimera bf and let the barbs fly as poor Maggie tries to keep the peace!

I agree that Maggie and Victor need to be shown more. Next week Maggie will find out about the egg-switch thing that Vic did. But Doug and Julie are SO boring! That is why they are only around on the holidays. They, Caroline, Roman, Bo, Austin, Jack and Hope just need to leave the show. Bring back Chloe, Nathan and Philip, and keep Carrie and Madison!

The producer/writer team from One Life is having a strong impact on GH. Days is suffering from really, really, really BAD writing. The story lines are barely watchable. They have practically ignored their only compelling storyline- Will coming out (Where are the reactions from Sammy and Lucas that I was reading about weeks and weeks ago??) All of the other stories on the canvas are contrived and predictable. Days is my fave soap and I want them to be around for years to come. They have a GREAT cast, filled with lots of characters that we have cared about for decades. Now they need to hire a head writer that understands how to tell compelling soap stores. Shame on Ken Corday for not being more proactive on his own show. He’s been helming Days for many years. He should have looked at the current round of stories and realized that the current soap climate is simply not tolerant of sub par storytelling.

Strong impact? What have they done? They’ve recycled the worst of their stale One Life to Live stories-hello Kate/Connie meet Jess, Tess, Bess and Wess, lol. And they continue to repeat Guza’s month old white bread also-Who killed Lisa Niles? Who cares, Sonny vs The Zacharas? Yawn.
Franco is Jason’s twin? Are you kidding me? Two actors nearly a decade apart in age as twins, lol. Gee sounds like Shakerspeare to me. Get a grip.
The best thing Cartini has done is rehire Robin Mattson has Heather Webber. Michael Easton and Roger Howarth are compelling but they will undoubtedly take seats on the Sonny Corinthos Mob Merry Go round that goes nowhere.
I agree about Days it is a predictable yawn. And Will’s so called storyline is a politically correct, cliche’d bore-what a waste.

It is because of the great writing of Ron Carlivati who recognizes that GH needed to return to its roots. That agendas are not what viewers want to see but good storytelling and character balance. Domination of certain agenda characters turned viewers off. Balance and storylines that fit are what is bringing viewers back. Also, the fact that Ron is mixing things up to right certain wrongs is making me excited about GH again.

It’s not so much that the OLTL characters are improving the show. It is the fact that GH now has a head writer that cares about the integrity of the show, its history and characters. Not saying that I don’t like the idea of character integration of Michael Easton and Florencia Lazano is a plus, but do we really need Todd and Starr Manning? To me they do nothing for the show when certain GH characters should be brought back instead of them. After all this is GH, not OLTL.

As for why GH is climbing up the ratings. Simple…..the writing is better because of Ron Carlivati. He listens to viewers and give us what we want. That’s nice to be recognize that the audience is important for a successful show.

Right now B&B is thriving because of the younger set and the triangle of Steffy/Liam/Hope storyline but it’s becoming redundant. It’s time to lay it to rest with the strong pairing of Liam/Steffy and show them as the next couple supreme.

GH has is far from returning to its roots! It’s still the Sonny Corinthos hour while Finola Hughes and Kristina Wagner and the rest sit quietly on the sidelines. GH has had no strong surge in ratings. It was bounced a couple of times but nothing to write home about.
And I wouldnt praise Cartini as patron saints of GH. They have had their continue OLTL agenda since the first day they came. And they are terrified to change the status quo at GH-It’s still the Sonny, Carly, Jason, Sam show.
We really dont need Kris Alderson ( Starr). Her acting has been over the top and horrendous since her first episode. And pairing her with the performance challenged Chad Dull just makes it worse.
GH is still in a vicarious position.

This is true. My grandma and I have stopped watching because it is now a gangsta-fest “West Side Story” type crappy show with nothing more than Sonny, whom I hate! Starr and her OLTL counterparts are interesting, though. DOOL is just as guilty for showing too much EJami/Horton/ISA/Stefano crap!

Cassandra crisp, Other then what you said about b&b (I don’t watch that soap) So I can’t comment, I agree with everything else you said about General hospital, Everything has changed for the good I look forward to each new episode Hate when it ends, cant wait for the day to go by so I can see what will happen today. Have no Idea what dg and dmitri are saying The ratings for general hospital are going up, word is getting around gh is watchable again.

Easily, the incredible talents of RC and FV. But I started watching when I heard that some OLTL’ers were headed that way when OLTL ended. It was pretty miserable for awhile, but when RC and FV started, it got much better and is currently, ON FIRE!

I wish some of you would go to another blog I go to as well. They do nothing but trash GH. Do people not realize that OLTL gave us another year of GH??

Anyway, nice to see ratings going up, this Kate Howard story was fantastically done by Kelly Sullivan. Like the story or not, she performed brialliantly.

Here is to the ‘climb up the ladder’ for GH.!! (though I was disapointed this week)

Debi, Other then your disappointment this week, I agree with everything else that you said. I read those other blogs to and I dont get that they are blind to the fact that the One life to live cross overs did help to save general hospital and helping to raise those ratings.

How many times have I heard that the one life to live crossovers will kill general hospital? Looks like my favorite characters from landview are helping to get those ratings up, Seriously a few more wouldn’t hurt, Vicki, Victor, blair, roxy, The quartermaines need a rich family to keep up with the jones if you get where I’m going with this. I know that you can have so many people and the stories get lost but so many are leaving just replace them with one life to live characters, Because it is working. If general hospital wants to keep seeing those ratings go up and keep the one life to live fans bring the landview characters on their not hurting their helping keep our general hospital alive. I know this One life to live/ general hospital fan is happy and will continue to watch because general hospital is watchable again. I have to say I loved seeing mischievous todd bringing carly flowers and hearing Kate spill her guts, hes got the goods on her. Cant wait till monday.

would love for you to stop by my new blog. Just getting it going today!!

Would love to see your blog… can you post the web address for it?

Debi, I also would like the web address. I could swear I left a post to you yesterday asking for it.

I am not at all surprised that Y&R lost that many pairs of eyeballs. My pair of eyeballs won’t count for this week that just ended either. I have a feeling that Y&R will end up in the 2.somethings this next ratings period. Fans are so disgusted, as am I will MAB and her disastrous writing, the grosstastic pairing of Victor and Sharon and of course, last but not least, the shocking firing of Eileen Davidson when MAB has a good boatload of people to get rid of before she should have even thought of firing Eileen.

Y&R is headed for a funeral and one that I will not attend.

I absolutely love GH at the moment. Every day I find I cannot get enough and want more. Bringing Ron and Frank to GH has been so incredible. GH was the worst of all the soaps and now it is the best thanks to the brilliant cast, writers and Frank Valentini. What is going to happen next week. Can hardly wait to see. Really want Tea to stay and more OLTL people to come. Still devastated by the loss of AMC and OLTL. ABC and I are permanently done.

GH is the only soap I consistently watch these days (this coming from a life long soap viewer who rarely missed a day of the entire CBS lineup Y & R all the way through to GL, usually by taping it). I love seeing the OLTL stars, but they do need to start coordinating the vets (why didn’t Monica make an appearance when Sam was brought to the hospital after the Ronnie ordeal?. It’s her daughter in law and grandchild, or so she thinks. Shouldn’t she be picking up on the vibes between John & Sam?). I would love to see Alan “dream” visit Jason, talk to him about fatherhood and help him accept this baby as his own. Days is all right. It certainly is better than Y & R right now.
Something has to be done with Y & R, and it has to be quick. It’s just awful (no reflection on the actors who are doing their best with lousy material). I’ve really, really tried to watch, but I’ve got better things to do. Conspiracy theorists chime in; are they deliberately trying to destroy this show?

Shelley I have to agree that they need to keep integrating all the characters and need to it more. Having Jason talk to Monica would also help, since Jason is not her biological son she can give him another perspective. I would love to see that dream sequence also.

#1 Y&R – unwatchable. I’ve said it so many times, and I’ll say it again: Bell/Hamner/Sheffer need to go. They need a “Ron Carlivati” over at that show, someone who grew up loving the show and someone who understands the characters history, inside and out, someone like me! 🙂 hehe

#2 B&B – I just never got into this show. It was always hard for me to believe this was even the “sister” show to the great Y&R over the years.

#3 General Hospital – This is a VERY good show. If I didn’t know it before, I know it 100% now, that Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini are super talented and super adept at running a daytime drama. Things I’m loving about this show:
–John, Starr, Todd, Tea (hopefully Victor, Blair and Natalie will be along soon)
–the return of legacy characters like Anna and Felicia
–Kelly Sullivan (though I still adore me some Megan Ward)
–Sonny being more portrayed as the jack@ss he is. Don’t get me wrong. I love Maurice Benard, BUT Sonny is one of the more despicable characters I’ve every seen on daytime. I don’t mind the character, but what I DO mind is a character like this made out to be a hero/”good” person. What would be neat, if they do want to make him a hero, is to make a revelation that Sonny is/was actually FBI or CIA all these years. Of course, they’d have to explain away some stuff, like Sonny shooting his own police officer son, but maybe they could say that Dante was too close to finding out the truth about Sonny’s real mission, or something like that. Hey, it’s a soap opera after all. I think people are more connected to the characters, rather than the story. Anyway, I digress…….
–John and Sam, their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS. If Natalie were to come back and make this a quadrangle, Natalie and Jason could commiserate about what this connection is between John and Sam. Maybe it’s a connection from another time and dimension that cannot be separated by this world even……..
–Finally, one question, where is Diane Miler? This seems to be a character that Carlivati would love to write for.

#4 DAYS – Could this be DAYS’ final days? It’s always promises followed by regression for this show.

So you know, Carolyn Hennesy (Diane) is filming on “True Blood” right now so I guess they’re just accommodating her schedule for now.
You are so right about John and Sam! I’ve always loved Jason and Sam, but now seeing her with John, I want this to HAPPEN! I do NOT want them to be siblings! Jason and Sam have been together a long time, perhaps it’s time to shake things up? I get sweats everytime, hoping they’ll just jump on each other! They could make a great team as well, her as an investigator working on the side with him…
I’m loving the triangle that is about to happen with Carly/Johnny/Todd, Laura Wright has amazing chemistry with these guys and frankly, I want her to have both; I can’t choose!

People NEED to watch GH, it hasn’t been this good in ages. And we need that last show to stay around, I don’t want to lose it!

Carly’s my favorite to watch. She’s smolderingly HOT! Sparks, fire, galore… with her scenes with johnny, especially Todd! have to have another femme fetale to mix in… and it should be Tea Delgado…. Sensual… alluring… company to vie for. i’m with you… i couldn’t choose as well… till we see Todd more. Compelling actors…

Days needs to step up their game. Will’s storyline, as well as “EJole”, Nicole’s pregnancy, and “Magic” are the only things keeping me. I used to enjoy Carrie/Rafe, but it has gotten so boring! Does it really take that long to ask Austin for a divorce, or tell Carrie the truth about Nicole’s baby? GEEZ! Everything is so slow, and Will’s story has just been neglected for these past few weeks. As for John and Marlena, have them do something interesting! Marlena is great with helping out Will, but those two with their ISA-take-down-Stefano-via-safehouse plot is RIDICULOUS!

Disappointed that Days dropped down to 4th. It’s the only soap I watch, so I can’t comment on what is working on the others.
What I don’t think has been working with Days, is that, before this week we weren’t seeing much of the cast/characters interacting. We all want our favs on screen, and I’ll admit that if it was John and Marlena, I wouldn’t complain, but I enjoy when characters cross-over into others stories.
The show needs to get back to the core families, and stop firing Emmy-Nominated (Matt Ashford) actors, and other vets that the long-time viewers have invested so much in.

Y&R has always been my #1 but of late it is nearly unwatchable due to the hacks running/writing this nonsense. Victor and Sharon are just disgusting and I FF through their scenes and will continue to do so. The once great Y&R is becoming a joke and it is sad!!!!!
GH is the best written and run show of the daytime shows and I’m not a fan of ABC, have always followed CBS. That said, I can’t wait each day to watch GH. Everything about it has improved.
DOOL I only watch for Marlena and Will, the rest of the stories are too unrealistic. If Will and Marlene go away so will I. Those are the only scenes I can watch.
BB has been much better of late and Brad Bell is a true Bell, he gets it.

I cannot believe the chemistry that flew between Tea and Johnny. Not to mention the sparks that flew between the few lines saidby Tea and Carly! Tea is an AWESOME addition to GH. It just keeps getting better!

I dont know about the chemistry between tea and johnny Yet. But I love when she put alexis in her place, what did she call her ? the mobs mouth piece, I to cant wait to see the conversation with tea and carly.

I WOULD KNOW WENT WILL LIAM FIND OUT THAT HOPE

WAS SET UP BY STEPHAINE “S MOTHER AND STEPSHAINE

GRANDMOTHER.STEPSHAINE FOSTER,.I ALSO WOULD LIKE

TO SEE LIAM BE MARRIED TO HOPE”.I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE

THAT BILL HIS MACHINATIONS IS UNSUUCCED.I BEEN WATCHING

THE BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE STEFFY MOVE ON TO SOMEONE NEW IN

HER LIFE.MAYBE WITH DR MEADE.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOPE WITH NEW HAIR DO.(ATT MR. BELL)

Bites that Days dropped to last place, but they need to up their game now. Could be in the final stretch, especially if drastic changes aren’t made. So glad that the new team of exec producers and writers (especially the great Lorraine Broderick) stuff should be airing soon!

I watched both OLTL and GH but before RH/FV came i was to the point I almost couldnt watch GH it was dark and no humor. They have injected some of the humor that was needed. I like all the OLTLers they have intergraded they need a few more tho. The John with Sam is not making sense he has always be written to have feelings for Nat and he was so happy to get her back now were to believe he all of a sudden is “drawn to Sam”. Then Todd has always been written as not a bed hopper so if he is paired with something it is Out of character. I would like to see a few more OLTLers over Blair, Viki Nat/Liam.
I tried to watch days and their s/l are just too boring and hard to get into

If GH keeps this up, it might eventually have as many viewers as OLTL.

It’s obvious that FV and RC have little to no interest in GH, they simply miss OLTL too much. For a while on Friday, I thought I was watching an episode of OLTL. They should have just kept OLTL and cancelled GH.

There is really nothing about GH that is any different than it has been; people just hear others saying how great it is and just repeat it. You can tell what is going to happen 3 weeks before it happens (does anyone really think Dr. Ewen is going to die? Was anyone shocked that Konnie may have shot out the tires? Please). And don’t get me started on the way all the women have become helpless victims who can’t function without a man to do everything for them.

Great show indeed.

Omg I thought I was the only one who was bothered by the nuKyle looking like Muhney’s long lost lil bro! Wtf?!?

So, how soon before we have a “Who Killed Daisy” storyline?

And, will Heather be back (in the form of Jennifer Landon) because Ricky will be leaving (most likely suspect for a dead Daisy)

The ratings for “Y & R” will continue to plummet like a mill stone because of the horribly bad plot-driven “stories” Maria Arena Bell and her co-hacks Hogan Sheffer & Scott Hamner are foisting upon its loyal fans!! SORAS’ing characters that don’t need to be SORAS’ed (Kyle, Summer, Fenmore), ret-coning structured time-lines within the “Y & R” world, creating one-note unlikable characters to carry MAB’s plot-driven slurry (Daisy, Ryder, Tucker, Sofia, Yolanda/Harmony, Sarge, Chelsea, Anita, Avery and worst of all, Genevieve!) – NOTHING IS WORKING IN MAB’S “VISION” of “Y & R”, YET NOBODY HAS TAKEN HER DOWN – WHY?!?

Do the ratings have to dip below an average 3 million/week before they realize she and her writing team are KILLING THIS SHOW?!?

Actually, what I think is hurting Days the most is the production of the show – the storyline and scene sequences. I am not sure if I am or can explain this correctly, but I feel that this is bringing it down and part of the problem. If it could be tweaked and cleaned up, it may be able to help the show. I will try to see if I can explain. As far as soaps go the writing and story lines are not that bad right now
( there could be improvements, but better than the year before), the actors are good and doing the best they can with the material they have, but the problem is that some of the sequencing of the story lines and scenes seem messy, a bit sloppy, and all over the place. You get a bit of this story line, then it disappears for weeks, comes back a little, you get part of it, then there are missing pieces, or something is dropped, then it is out of sequence, etc. It is a great to have intrigue and good to have missing pieces and keep the audience guessing what is going to happen if there are good clues in a sequence that lead up to a climax in a story line and make the audience try to figure things out, but when you are not sure where some information went, or why something is either in our out (most likely because of TPTB disputing over storylines) – it becomes confusing and messy to watch then you start to say wait this makes no sense, where are they going with this, etc. even if eventually it all ties in, the way it is done does not keep the suspense so you do not want to keep watching. Basically, you tune out because it is like a puzzle with missing pieces instead of having the pieces and then trying to figure out where it goes. Then in other cases they give you too much information that they should leave out for intrigue. For example, they should not have let the audience know that John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Carrie, and Rafe were alive during the wake. They should have kept the audience guessing – even though with spoilers and info that the cast is still in our out, you knew they would be alive but you could think may be we were not told if someone is going to leave or you may wonder how did they get out of the blast. Anyway there is not enough continuous intrigue to make you keep watching, and the way the scenes in the story lines are sequenced does not keep you coming back for more. They have to clean up the production of the scenes in a story line to make it flow better, so they are not so choppy, and all over the place – whether that is the writing, the production, or scheduling of actors – if this does not improve you cannot keep viewers tuning in. If the story lines and scenes keep going in and out of context, then viewers are going to keep tuning in and out. Shows and novels that have plots that have good well sequenced and timed scenes, clues, storylines keep you with them for more and more.

I disagree with some things you said. They needed to let the audience know about the survivors, because otherwise it would’ve been too cliche with how long it would take for the people of the town to know that their loved ones are not dead. But yes, Days needs to improve pronto. I understand Jack and Austin leaving will help it improve, but Carrie and Madison should stay. And why was Ian brought in? He does nothing but cause more boring drama!

So happy for GH!!! I think Frank & Ron are totally responsible for the GH turnaround…If anyone disputes that ..I would say they are entitled to their opinion but that doesn’t make it a fact..I love the OLTL characters..because I already loved them..GH has cliffhanger almost every day..I DVR everything & watch GH last because in my world I save the best for last…The OLTL peeps came in & had to pick up where the other mobfest left off..Those who put down GH because of the OLTL additives are the ones who are a most threat to it’s survival….suck it up or don’t watch.but GH was pretty much unwatchable until the OLTL factor came in..I wish they would add Natalie, Blair & Dorian to the mix…I loved Viki too..Viki & Dorian were the supercouple on OLTL..strong talented women..
B&B I just started watching when AMC & OLTL were cancelled.& I really hate this show…because of the Liam/Hope/Steffy thing…what a bunch of goofs..I just watch to support the soaps… to me a bunch of shallow, clueless, weak, egomaniacs–especially Bill about the field of psychiatry…I have no idea why anyone likes to watch this one..I didn’t know there was anyone left in this decade that thought that going to a psychiatrist makes you crazy & a “nutcase”..that character belongs in the fifty’s puleaze..
Y&R is ok but the stories are pretty monotonous..I kinda like Adam with Chelsea though in fact I like Adam & Chelsea way better than most of the other characters.they are much more interesting…I like Phyllis too..a lot of boring characters on this show or maybe it’s the writing..I just started watching this one when my soaps were cancelled…
I do like DOOL but the writing here too is uneventful.. the Will S/L was great & then they just dropped it…I like the “bad guys” on this one, Sami, EJ, Kate, they give you something to watch..
Rafe, Carrie, Marlena, John, Bo & Hope are eternally monotonous..even an explosion didn’t make me interested in them..Brady is a hunk but they write him kinda of like wishy washy…Most of the men here need to grow a new set of b***s…sorry to put it that way but I call ‘em as I see em…

you are right, especially about the Bope, Jarlena and Cafe being boring. I hate Sami, they show her too much. As for EJ, I only enjoy when he is with Nicole, but now his independent stories are fine.

Hey Guys, This isn’t about the ratings for GH, but the Dark Shadows movie. I had so many doubts about seeing this film, based on the trailer and I had a problem with paying $11.50 for a movie that looked ridiculous! But, my curiosity got the best of me and I went to see it this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised! It”s somewhat of a comedy, but with horror and romance thrown in. Johnny Depp did a pretty good job as Barnabas Collins, but he is not Jonathan Frid. It guess he’s not suppose to be, since this is Dark Shadows for 2012. Eva Green was very good as Angelique Bouchard. She captured the evil essence of the 1960’s character portrayed by Lara Parker. However, I did have a problem with the character of Julia Hoffman, which was played by my favorite, Grayson Hall in the original and by Helena Bonham Carter in the film. I think they ruined the character and they made her look like something from Alice in Wonderland and Sweeney Todd! I won’t say anything else and spoil the movie for those who plan to see it, but I think it is worth checking out and would love to view the responses.

we DS loyal fans have been heard, all over the net – most, including myself, mad about DS basically being torn apart and made into a comedy. I would have loved it if someone actually did a movie with the same feel and look of the old series… not sexed up, and not made into a campy comedy… You can read the comments we made here for the April 19th story Michael had about Jonathon Frid dying and on the March 16th story about Tim’s DS movie. Just put Dark Shadows in the search box above.

Days is the only soap I watch now,
Sami Will and Lucas is the only story worth watching JMO

I really wish they would show the ratings of the daytime dramas vs the rest of the daytime shows. I don’t want to lose ANY more soap operas and I hate to cheer one shows ratings gain over another shows loss.

GH is at 3rd place across the board for new May 7-11th ratings YEAH!!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

Published

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
