General Hospital
RATINGS: GH Moves Ahead Of DAYS! B&B Has Solid Week!
The ratings are out for the week of July 15-19th, and there is interesting news to report upon looking at the latest statistics and numbers!
General Hospital has now regained third place from Days of our Lives! GH gained +68,000 in total viewers for the week giving it a total of 2,517,000! While DAYS fell and lost total viewers -34,000 and whose total came in for the ratings perood with 2,416,000. There is only 100,000 total viewers now separating the two shows as of this ratings! However, General Hospital also added some viewers, +7,000, in the key 18-49 demo a category.

Now on to The Bold and the Beautiful who really had the most solid week of all the daytime dramas. B&B added +87,000 total viewers, the most of any soap for the ratings period, and it remained in the second spot with over 3.5 million viewers. B&B also is up a whopping +456,000 from the previous year at this time!
B&B also added the most viewers in key demos-18-49 females +31,000, and +5,000 in females18-34! As for The Young and the Restless, after a great week last week, it appears that fans may not have loved the final, or next part, of the fall out of the Summer Newman paternity pickle! Y&R lost -101,000 from the previous week but still maintained, of course, it’s number one position with 4,555,000. You can view the entire rating picture here from SON.
So its time for you to be our Soap Opera Programming Executive Armchair Quarterback! What is working on your favorite soaps? What is not? What would you do to fix them? Which soap opera are you enjoying the least this summer? Which soap opera are you enjoying the most? Weigh-in!
Well I know when the Sharon twist came out I was mad enough to stop watching Y&R, but atlas like any relationship I couldn’t walk out on my soap– no matter how lame it gets, because I love it– for better or for worse–lol.
GH picked up a bit and Days has slowed down, so the numbers seemed to reflect that- no bit shockers there.
B&B well it is consistent anyway– it sticks to formula, the characters have no real growth and change– and Brad seems to recycle scripts like we recycle plastic– and if you like that kind of thing– you will never be disappointment because B&B truly is ‘a what you see is what you get’ type of soap.
Agree with every word!
Days ratings suck because people are sick of watching the days of Samis life. The whole revolves around her in some way or another! I have stopped watching, and I honestly used to watch every day. I know Sweeney is nbcs golden child, but the writers need to get over their fixation with her and sami, and give other actors, and characters some storyline and substance. Where is Peter reckell, drake, joe,Bryan, etc? Or Christie, kristian, Suzanne, ari, Nadia,? Or even eileen and missy? Salem does not revolve around Alison Sweeney! She had never been nominated for an Emmy! That speaks for itself!
AGREE!!!
I feel the same way about Missy as Jennifer. She is on virtually every day and none of the scenes are driving any major story. While I used to enjoy the character; Jennifer has become such a holier than thou harpie over the last year; it’s become tiresome to watch. The Jennifer/Daniel pairing is like nails on a chalkboard.
It has to be because of the storyline they’re giving Franco, tying it in with Jason. I have to admit, the Ava/Franco storyline is one of the only ones I’m enjoying on GH currently, and that’s part in due to the wonders of Maura West and Roger Howarth, who I always believed had great chemistry that should have been explored during their times on As the World Turns.
But I wouldn’t call General Hospital the better soap against Days of our Lives. DAYS is at its prime for the first time since the ’90s (or so I’ve been told). They’re telling some compelling stories that are really giving the audience a world of colour. I’m sure DAYS will return ahead of GH in the next week’s time.
Agreed! DAYS’ quality is superior to GH’s. I don’t like the numbers and that they aren’t reflecting how much better DAYS is, but in my heart I know DAYS has a lot of great things going for it right now, and that the numbers will hopefully get better because of them.
Um… actually the 15th to the19th was a week where the OTHER GH actors were actually allowed to be seen! We had Luke’s illness and Laura’s concern, Danny’s illness, Patrick and Sabrina, Maxie, etc.
In other words GH ratings rose when the focus WASN’T on Franco.
I agree, the Franco,Jason saga is a little far fetched.Lets see some of the other characters.
GH is rocking and has solid storylines that keep flowing and its fast paced that is why you miss an episode and your lost, this is NOT the soap of yesterday where everyday it was same group of peope and storylines, love the show and some stories and been a fan since luke and laura!!
Really!???? I do not like GH. Franco is not redeemable and fans are not stupid!
I think they need New Writer’s The show is terrible
Yeah! GH is rockin!!!!
YEP .. GH is moving FAST in the good way!
Good news for GH. The show has been picking up again lately after a lackluster period, and I’m glad the ratings reflect that. I really enjoyed the scenes with Genie Francis and Jane Elliot this week. Two daytime icons that haven’t really gotten much of a chance to work together over the years. It was a pleasure to watch.
DITTO!
GH has improved(except vets like Mac and Felicia need airtime. With Laura off searching for Luke, id like to see Scotty turn to alchol and maybe Ava: theyd meet at a bar. plus more Monica/Leslie scenes) ‘Days Of Our Sami’ hasnt been too interesting of late. Ive had too much of Sami. I like A.S. and Sami but i want other characters more in the spotlight as well. What happened to Lucas. Why hasnt Julie come see baby Arianna or have a Horton talk with JJ about her own experience with snoplifting. However, im enjoying both soaps. GH is back in first place for me…but like b4 that could change again.
i know my spelling ect.
Its the friggen keyboards fault!!! lol
Haven’t seen anything of Nick and not much of Will and Gabby…
I would like to see Theresa (LOVE her) become acquainted with Nick!
She and Nick would be perfect…great idea.
oooh nice! LOL.
would love to see Scotty… get some air time…
why not… have him guzzling from the bottle and siding up to Ava…. for some wet action…. or something….
why would Scotty… endlessly play 2nd fiddle to Laura… up and running in search of Luke?
give Scotty some meat….. to fester…. release… fulfill… deliver his guts…. a pair to relish…. LOL… love the man… show the Scotty of ole… and release some demons.
I am sick of looking at Todd’s (can’t get past that) beaten up face & awful yellow hair. I wish they would let him look like he did when he was with Carly. He looked so good on the bridge with the hooded sweatshirt. GH is ok right now but DAYS is the best.
that’s exactly what i thought… when “franco” was on the bridge in the hooded sweatshirt…. Yum… yikes… it’s him…. savor!
for all he’s trying… get rid of the dyed blond hair…. agree with you… it’s more devilishly wanting… his dark features real mysterious… and pent up anxious.
I’d rather look at Franco’s bleached blond coif than Scotty’s ridiculous porcupine (or is it hedgehog) look….it’s just so strange and distracting! And to think, he had a really smooth style back in the day…..
I know what you mean & when you look at Luke’s hairstyles over the years! Ha. Now he hardly even has any! Scotty’s hair IS horrible but I never thought he was THAT goodlooking-cute maybe but not sexy like Todd/whoever the hell he is supposed to be-Roger H. really looked good when he was with Carly & the day he left town, WOW. That is the look I am talking about-which we saw a glimpse of on the bridge the other day.
Being partial to blond guys, I cannot say that Franco’s hair bothers me all that much…it is a bit comical, but I can deal with that (He was a laugh riot in his “Jason” mode….). Perhaps post-surgery, he will tone it down a bit….I still think his current “style” is more appealing than the bland, brown-haired and scarred Todd…he really did nothing for me!!!! As for Scotty, he was neat and sweet when he started out on GH..a real white knight!!!! Sometimes miss that character. His angry man stuff is just getting boring, especially since he got his Laura back!!! I know he will forever be fighting Luke for her heart, but grow up dude!!!!
GH does not deserve ratings success. DAYS is doing the best shows it has done in years.
I applaud DAYS – Sony – NBC.
ratings be damned.
I am devoted to GH and DAYS.
which do I watch first? Salem, of course.
for the life of me…. go figure… I can’t read in to “the ratings”….
DAYS… you have to think when watching…. and, THAT’S GOOD. the intrigue between the characters and setting the scene…. and… dag! I can’t express how well the production has been and IS.
it’s pointless and a moot point to overload reasoning… why DAYS is continually what it’s been…. those damned ratings…. it’s #1 with me.
Oh me too. I watch all the soaps still on tv but for the past several months I watch DAYS first. Can’t wait till tomorrow. Good night!
DAYS is still better than it has been in a decade or more. #FreeSami #Ejami #Ejustin #Wilson #Bristen #Ericole stories are well written and well paced.
#Dannifer is still an albotross. As is Rafe in coma and awakening with amnesia. However, Jen Lilley is adding some interest now.
We still have a few days of filler and too many folks without story who appear to just appear. No real story for characters of Kate, Hope, Marlena, Chad, Kayla…
Kudos to Eilleen Davidson, James Scott, Wally Kurth, Alison Sweeney, Judi Evans, Chandler Massey, Freddie Smith.
On GH, it has been slower than I like. I have really tried with RH as Franco/Jason – now brain tumor story.Sorry, it has jumped the shark for me. I miss Julie Marie Berman as LuLu . Just not into NuLu and Dante..
Kirsten Storms is doing well with Maxie. I am just not into Kiki Jerome. But really like Maura West as Ava Jerome. Like increased time for Jane E as TracyQ and AJ.
The Patrick, Britt, Sabrina is a snoozefest. A few too many ancillary folks starting at hospital.
I agree that Days is still really good these days. I try to watch it whenever I get a chance, and I haven’t been able to say that a lot of the years lately.
Agreed! I have no idea what’s happening on GH, but what you said about DAYS I agree with. I do think JJ has added as much freshness to the hideously stale Dannifer story as Theresa has, though. Something about this kid I have found so amusing and entertaining. He could have been such a typical “caricature” with this kind of a bad seed storyline, but instead it feels real and is giving the canvas a whole new flavor- including Missy Reeves who is doing her best work as a “mom” than she has since she’s returned.
I think Chad and Kate are getting stories soon, what with Rafe waking up and Chad involved with the video leak/Abigail’s triangle/possible concussion from the 4th of July picnic (?…my guess only, I’m spoiler free). But I think Hope, Marlena and Kayla could all definitely be used way more than they have been given. I want Hope to hook up with Vargas, which would give her story, romance and keep Sean Douglas. For Marlena, I’d just like her to be more involved period. And I hope we see more Nick soon. He hasn’t been on much lately.
Overall, the show is still firing on all cylinders for me. This week with the school’s unveiling, Sami’s arrest, Justin/Adrienne scenes, the build-up of Kristen’s scheming and possible reconciliation with Brady, and Nicole’s scenes with just about everybody (Eric, Brady, Victor, EJ and Kristen) have kept me thoroughly entertained and engaged. Plot development is organically progressing and the dialogue has been funny, sweet, sad and real. And aside from those few characters with lack of story, most are being utilized and incorporated in the bigger storylines.
I’m still an extraordinarily happy customer!
Kayla has been cracking me up lately….
she’s two-footing her stance on Theresa…. I am your Aunt Kayla…
and this is your Last Chance to make a go of it. LOL.
Theresa… “why should I rent a room above the bar/restaurant” LOL….
Theresa reals… dare I misstep the brady family crest.
if this gives us Kayla… heck…. per Kimberlys orders… watch out for our Jeanne… Ms. Theresa with kick.
—————
I get lost in his face – I can’t help it… he oozes his Rafe…. as he’s telling Kate… You’re the only one who’s being honest with me. Kate’s still masking her Rafe… and it’s a treat and a tantalizing prospect these two could be.
————-
great review Jules – I keep pressing how good it is to be in Salem.
Justin & Adrienne Kiriakis and Son…. Freddy Smith… are commanding…
I’m in awe of this trio… this family is getting the limelight… the camera… and with excellent script… are delving in to their triggers and goody bags… and top notch acting their Talent….
so many emotions are befalling this family… and it’s all a mixed bag of emotions that are going to spiral Justin and Adrienne…. all with the good intentions of Adrienne… she was so on … when she lambasted Justin… “you had no idea” this tape was in existence… ie: Salem bad cop and Sammi going at it.
Justin is a revelatory presence… his demeanor and toughness… machinations… whilst remaining true to his family is going to be tested… and that look in his eyes… bespeaks hold on for the ride… dang! isn’t he sexy.
if this is the catalyst for Freddy Smith to further elevate his part in the show… than… he’s on target. don’t know so much about the new blond kid… I hope that Brian comes back… as they had some serious chemistry.
Kristen and Brady.
I loved when she opened her eyes and was eagerly responding to Brady…
she had to check his response time… and he was real with her.
so… like i’ve said…. these two… are still delivering… without John and Marlena…
and that speaks volumes… as they’re still interesting with out… and I honestly… thought that from the start… that these two needed John and Marlena, for this story to be a success… and it’s not wavering or lacking in interest…
it would appear.. that now Kristen is in a quandery…. she loved… loves… is feeling… real emotion… and raw as she’d like to be… ie: with Father Eric… she knows she’s feeling the real stuff… and it’d be in character for her to withdraw her original mindset for revenge and enjoy life.
next… you have the wonderful…. teen angst kitten… earning her stripes… new, hot about town…. Theresa… smarmy’ing her way about town.
you see JJ and Theresa sharing their intimate feelings at different times and with each other… and it’s culminating in come hither, teasing, and yet… are holding their own… in relation to all the other couples who’re drama’ing it out with.
it’s fun to watch the differences and nuanced delivery of all the couples….
Jenn Lilly is a Treat. and JJ is playing to the hilt the nerves, consequences, the plays unfolding with his mom and sister.
Totally agree about NuLulu…the poor girl is trying, but she simply lacks the grit, sass and snark that made JMB believable as Luke’s daughter. This may sound crazy, but I think Kristen Alderson would have made a better Lulu, even though she would not have gotten to play against her beloved Chad. “Kiki” has that same toughness and attitude. If she would have stayed a blonde and adopted the tone and demeanor as her current character, I think it could have worked. And we would have been spared her inane pairing with that little puke Morgan. Although I didn’t initially mind him, he is getting old really fast…and we already have too many roles that fit that description: Shawn, TJ, Taylor, Felix, Brad, SABRINA, etc….Time for some serious housecleaning, Cartini!!!!
GH is getting interesting again it just needs to stay consistent and showcase certain people more like finola Hughes, genie Francis and Rebecca Herbts needs to be more front and certer, hopefully the show will stay on track.
I agree with you! GH ROCKS!!! Never know GH be #1…..
HOW is GH pulling in more viewers now????? Well, there was a glimmer of hope when Laura stated acting (being written) like Laura again and going after Luke.
Happy Gh picked up in the ratings.. I had a feeling it would..
Congrats to”GENERAL HOSPITAL”
Love Silas Clay and Sammatha Morgan +Daniel
Now if RC can show more of the interior things that have to do with Sam like:
1. Her kitchen so that Silas can make her a fancifal meal
2. The Cadillac Jeep she drove in 2009, when she drove Jason back home!!!
3. The patio in the apartment ( they never show it)
4. Her closet!!!! We rarely see her closet (she hasxthat beautiful teal dress and she has that
PINK AND BLACK CORSET SHE WORE IN JULY 2009 : GOING UNDERCOVER
5. Lucy suppose to open a “spa”? I would love to see Silas eyeing Sam getting her excersise
Groove on!!!!
6. When Danny gets well I cant wait for Silas assist “stud muffin” in walking
…………the ratings is getting better, but the biggest thing he can do is get SAM AND SILAS
MARRIED
RC should all the resources he has,
Glad B&B is Still doing great even without JMW & HT. Bravo to B&B.
There are so many layers involved to Rafe and Kate.
There are so many who’ll say Rafe will never “graduate”. he’s part ding’bat / too sexy.
watching him layer, elevate, his romance life… from Sammi to Kate… and the unmentioned seeking beyond the physical where it was safe and too good. to gapping their differences and bringing it to light… watching this cougar twosome is involved in much to do. since kate’s been leashed on her own… watching Kate keep Rafe up to date… is stunning to watch her.
rafe;s good looks… not too bright reaching for a new rafe… and he’s got it so easy with Kate beside you.
you know… you want him to at best… let the other actors do their job and help him… and it’s not a hinderance that Rafe is still on.
let’s see… kate is not all the responsible… could Rafe be growing? LOL.
I finally realized Kristens’ DAYs.
she’s Fay Dunaway’ing it with Style…
and/or she’s Cybill Sheppard’ing us with the “Last Picture Show”…
DAYS is production’ing nuances’ with the cast… and it’s further elevating. and the actor’s are shooting cylindars.
thank you Eileen Davidson… for your powerful take in Salem.
still loving the flashbacks with father Eric….
you and Brady are still a treat.
LOL… so, didn’t Theresa “look” Donna Mills….
as she rests comfortably in her office… as she eyes Daniel.
“what can I do for you…”
she swears she doesn’t care for JJ.
planted circles around Abby… and nixed his mother from the start.
Jeanne Theresa Donovan… where are you? LOL.
luscious find.
“but, frankly, I don’t think either of us know’s what this woman is capable, of”
Eric to Brady
Thereby; goes DAYS.
I do’nt put much stock in the ratings system. Viewers should be counted, not
represented. DOOL is so exciting, I can’ t miss a second! YawneR makes me
tired, but congrats to GH.
B&B is as lame as ever!!! Pure crap!!! Botchy & Bothersome!!!
Amen…..quit watching it years ago when they kept recycling the same old plotlines, and I as I have read, they are still doing it!!!!! The only original idea as of this past year was killing off Stephanie, and that was only due to Susan Flannery choosing to leave!!!!!!
GH is picking up. It was going to take time to rebound after the sudden departure of Todd, Star & McBain. All their stories were in full throttle when they were forced to exit the canvas. All the plot had to be rewritten which clearly required a lot of damage control. I have every faith in the current regime at GH.
Days has been must watch for several weeks now. Eileen Davidson is doing amazing work as Kristen. Agree with what someone said earlier about Dannifer being an albatross — cut the cord on that pairing already. Ugh.
No way! I love Dannifer beacause of JJ and Theresa.
As a man, I wish they would show what the % of male viewers is in all demos. I know I’m not the only guy who watches “his stories.”
Why is GH gaining grounds in ratings when they have the worst writer in soap SLs, JP, on their writing team?
General Hospital
‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

Photo: ABC
DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
General Hospital
‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Courtesy/ABC
Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
