ABC Daytime did not do well in the ratings for the week of February 13th through February 17th.  Let’s start with the continued poor showing of One Life to Live’s replacement, The Revolution.  Once again the lifestyle/makeover show is falling flat in the ratings and with the daytime audience.

According to TV Media Insight, “For the Live Plus Same Day ratings for the week of Feb. 13, struggling ABC daytime talker The Revolution has not picked up any steam, according to Nielsen, with a mere 1.53 million viewers, with erosion from year-ago occupant One Life to Live of 820,000 viewers and as much as 44 percent in the three surveyed female demos as follows:  One Life to Live – Week of 2/14/11 Viewers: 2.35 million, Women 25-54: 1.2/ 8, Women 18-49: 0.9/ 6, Women 18-34: 0.5/ 4  The Revolution – Week of 2/13/12 Viewers: 1.53 million, Women 25-54: 0.7/ 4, Women 18-49: 0.5/ 3, Women 18-34: 0.3/ 2.   You can see the dreadful comparison, and that is not helping General Hospital!

With The Revolution now a horrible lead-in to General Hospital, the lone ABC soap is not getting any needed support, as they would have from previous time slot occupant, One Life to Live.   General Hospital also scored record lows in the last ratings period.

According to Soap Opera Network, GH hit a new low of 2, 162,000 viewers for the week of February 13-17,  and also the series hit a new low in the key 18-49 female demo in total viewers.   The next ratings period (out later this week) should provide a ratings boost for GH with the death of Robin, the return of some old favorites, and new head writer, Ron Carlivati’s first scripts hitting the air, plus the first episode of One Life’s Starr Manning.  We shall see if this strategy paid off with the viewers at home!

In other ratings news, Days of our Lives was the only show for the ratings period to gain viewers by adding + 7,000 making their total at 2, 468, 000.  The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful retained the top two spots but did not gain any viewers.

So let us know your thoughts on The Revolution’s continued dismal performance? And, if you think GH can rebound with the new changes that you are beginning to see?

Marc Breeman is known to be a fan of OLTL fan. So I don’t put all my hope about what he says about The Revolution because it may all be wishful thinking. I want to hear from a well-established source such as The New York Times or Deadline Magazine that The Revolution is on its way out for September.

As for General Hospital, I’m beginning to be skeptical about its ratings ever improving. People said the ratings would increase with Anna’s return and it turned out to be the exact opposite . Now they are counting on Star’s return to boost the ratings on the same week that GH f*cked up big time Robin’s death . If that doesn’t boost the ratings, people will come up with a new excuse and say to wait the week after for the arrival of Robert Scorpio and the other OLTL actors. And excuses will keep coming one week after the other about why GH’s ratings doesn’t go up when the answer is very simple: Sonny, Jason and Carly.

Fans may push week after week the improvement that is supposed to become GH. But don’t forget that April is approaching and this is the month where ABC will likely have to make a choice between GH or The Revolution.

You must work for The Revolution.

Shut up. What are you blabbering about?

Have you actually carefully read every words on my post before spouting such nonsense.

@Jenna

If only you knew how stupid you look like in front of everybody for making such comment, you would have think twice before making it.

That’s what I am thinking

Jenna, I totallyt agree with you.

I heard that abc is making a decision in the next few weeks.I wish they would just say one way or the other.get it over with all ready, alot of fans left gh because of the mob stories ,just the other day at another sight ,one person wrote until they hear that someone put a bullet in sonnys head there not coming back, so your right about the sonny ,jason, carly thing.still have to stay tuned ,hopefully gh can have a big turn around I am enjoying the stories now.I have to think positive ,dont want to loose another soap, and Ill say it I hope the ratings go up this week.

Heather: I started to comment on your post earlier, just to compliment you because U stated a source. ” I want to hear from a well-established source such as The New York Times or Deadline Magazine that The Revolution is on its way out for September. ” It’s nice when people state a matter of fact on here to back up some of their points. Some of the stupidity is ridiculous on here. People, either are too sensitive OR they want to bite your head off if U don’t agree with them. I get me a good glass of wine, sit down, and sometimes LMAO. Barbara T is funny without disagreement with anyone. But Heather, you’re not as polite as me, U get right to the juggler, ” Shut up, what are you blabbering about?” LMAS Somewhere on here (and I was telling Susan M., that either you OR Heidi said that Oprah had the right to not pick up shows cancelled by a network if she didn’t want to, and I agreed with whichever one of U who posted that. Susan M. is on a war-path about Oprah, I commented, she responded back, and told me let’s end it right there. I did. And since I have seen 2/3 more post since, about her upsetness, dislike, about Oprah. It must be a full moon. LMAO Goodnite!

It was me who posted about Oprah. I don’t think it is her responsibility to pick up ABC’s discarded soaps. She can if she wants to. But she does not have to if she doesn’t think it’s right for her business. People say that she was condescending in her voice. I disagree. She was assertive because she was dressing a serious matter. But to say that she was “condescending” is ridiculous. Oprah has made so many good things and has changed the life of a lot of people here and abroad (just think about all her charities for Africa). So I will never disown this woman just because she chose to not carry ABC’s cancelled soaps. It’s not like OWN was the only cable network that had declined to have the soaps anyway.

uh oh, looks like susan m is mad at you,she wants to know if your a oprah lover .this should get interesting.wow, first heather ,now you ,and im quoting the bible, this is getting interesting.

This for comment made by 1loveabcsoaps..Why are you still commented about my comments about Oprah??????????To other people… Why????? I said to let it go… I don’t appreciate you commenting about me to other people!!!! That isn’t very nice at all…Your comment for 2/27 at 10:39pm…Just happen to read it this morning…I didn’t like it…I don’t like being bad mouth about to other people on this site…I let this go but, reading that comment you wrote with my name in it was totally not necessary…. I don’t think it was very nice at all !!!!!!!! Another oprah lover for 2/28 at 9:16am.She did do some good I’ll give you that …But I didn’t want to go into this again .. You brought up again… She isn’t helping a lot of people with her NEW AGE RELIGION!!!!!! Read the article on her site.. I read it 2 years ago a friend of mine told me about it!! She has no buisness giving people advice & guidance about religion.. Yes this is a true fact I read!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is misleading lots of people into beleiving that there are many ways to get to heaven…No she is totally wrong on that one.. There is only one way to heaven and that is Jesus Christ !!!! This why I don’t like oprah.. And I’m not on the war path!!!!!!!!! There somethings you should not talk about & this is one of them…….Especially when you don’t know what you are talking about!!!!! You get advice from the pastor about this NOT OPRAH!!! You are still commented about my comment to other people on this site.. I don’t call it ending it!!!! I just happen to see your comment with my name in it.. Let’s keep it to ourselves from now on..Before it gets totally out of hand.. Please don’t put my name in anymore of your comments.. Thank you sooooo much.. And I will do the same…Agreed!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop it with Susan M. Already!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has some good points!!!!!! Don’t be so down on her…………You can’t like everyone………..

Heather go here, ” One Life to Live Voted Saddest TV Farewell in IVillage Entertainment Awards! ” February 22nd. Stroll down and read the coversation abou thet Oprah blast-off. I’m even telling the woman I agree with her about some things, BUT at the end of the end of the day, Oprah has the right to make her own decison, it being right or wrong. Soap fan’s say it’s wrong, that doesn’t mean that it is.

heather is in a war with words ,Im going to be in one soon ,if the person posts back to me ,I let the writer have it about gay bashing ,Its wrong ,good grief I even quoted the bible.its about will s kiss on dool.I agree with you and heather about oprah she can do anything she wants with her network, but if she wants to keep it going she better change alot that she is doing ,putting the soaps on would have brought people over to watch the soaps ,that would make them take a look at her other programing ,I WONT WATCH ROSIE,oprah did have a right to turn the soaps down but they way she did it ,made alot of soap fans turn against her ,the soaps made that woman theres no if,ands, or buts about it.was she ashamed of that ? even if she didnt want the soaps on her network ,she could have stood beside the soap fans and help us keep our soaps,to me ,the lost of all my children and one life to live are one of the stupidest decisions by a network to cancel.and abc/disney daytime lineup will never be the class act it use to be ,and I will continue to stay away from anything abc/disney wants to sell me ,because its not worth my time anymore.

Hey 1loveabcsoaps, nice to see you back.

The “I think you work for The Revolution” has become so old. Only a kindgarden child would say something like this..

I think that Michael should filter trolls, such as Jenna and Lew, from posting on this website because it’s obvious they have nothing to say and their sole propose here is to start up arguments with serious posters such as you, I and barbara t who come on here to make constructive comments.

I hope you don’t take my comment in the wrong way……. Back to GH .. I think GH ratings will improve…Have to be positive about it. Saw yesterday on Gh Robert Scorpio thinking back when he first saw Robin & didn’t know she was his daughter.. Robin was I think about 6 to 8 years old….I remember seeing that!!!

I go all over the net looking for any kind of news on the soaps ,I cant remember where I read it .could have been the ,tv mediansights and I know what you think about there ratings ,If i can remember ,Ill let you know.

heather ,Im not sure if you got my first post about this ,katie couric wants general hospital for her lead in, It was at soap town usa,at the top go to looselips .its there.always a good read .

@barbara t

Yes I saw your post and I commented on it below on Monday.

I’m skeptical about this. But if you’re right, then GH is almost certain to be saved. ABC thinks that Katie Couric is a Godess. So if Couric says that she wants GH as a lead-in, ABC will listen to her, especially with The Revolution’s remarkable poor ratings.

However, don’t forget that Katie Couric’s talk show will be a syndicated program just like Live with Kelly. Meaning that it can air on some non-ABC stations and not have GH as a lead-in.

It weill be GH not The Revolution.. Anna , Robert Scorpio ,Star , Cole, Isaw coming attrctions with John McBain starting next week oh one more Todd & Blair will probably follow!!!!!!!! And Holly is back!!!!!!!!! I think the ratings will soar Nt. wk. & this Wk. of 2/27-3/2!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope the OLTL writers can work their MAGIC!!!!!!!!!! And write some amazing stories for GH!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the heck with Katie Couric.. She should stay on primetime T. V. That’s where she belongs.. She would be out of place on daytime programming!!!! Out of her element………Never watch her…And not interested in ever watching Katie Couric!!!!!!!!! GH FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

I don’t know how THE REVOLUTION stays on the air!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is’s a CRAPPY SHOW AHD IT’s BORING!!!!!!!!!!!And no one watches !!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s hanging by a thread!!!!!!!!! CANCEL IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s a waste.. It’s just taking up space!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET RID OF IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and don’t forget THE CHEW!!!!!!!! That crap should be cancelled NOW also!!!!!!!!!!!! They make me sick!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to throw up!!!!!!!!

katie couric doesnt really belong anywhere in my opinion, she has been on every network nbc, cbs, she use to belong on one of those dopy morning shows, then she went to the cbs evening news ,she really brought the ratings down there they got rid of her, now abc/disney wants her ,why I dont know its just another talk show the networks are full of them ,there are to many of them.I hope the ratings go up on general hospital, then I dont care where abc/disney puts her,It doesnt matter cause I wont watch.

I never liked Katie Couric, long before she even signed up for her new talk show with ABC. I just can’t stand the way she act as if she knows everything and thinks that she’s superior to anybody.

But if Couric can get ABC to cancel The Revolution and save GH, then I might actually like her.

Heather said: ” I think that Michael should filter trolls, such as Jenna and Lew, from posting on this website because it’s obvious they have nothing to say and their sole propose here is to start up arguments “.

1loveabcsoaps says: HERE HERE, Heather ! And don’t forget Susan M, below, and almost Debi., but things have been silent with us., and even cordial, that’s why I said ALMOST, LoL

*Will talk more 2more dead tired. Hey, U see how Susan writ

Hey, U see how Susan M writes with all the symbolism like she’s screaming? There is nothing calming about reading her post and certainly not responding, if she carries herself as angry. I’m not for the Drama just because we disagree. We ALL can disagree and still learn something from each other, if we stay POSITIVE. That’s was my point only with Debi.

Heather said: ” It was me who posted about Oprah. ” Yes, Heather 90%of me knew it was you, BUT there was that 10%, and I didn’t want to quote U and have U respond back to me like some of the back & forth that goes on on here IAND you know me, I WILL defend my point…!

Heather said: ” She can if she wants to. But she does not have to if she doesn’t think it’s right for her business. So I will never disown this woman just because she chose to not carry ABC’s cancelled soaps. It’s not like OWN was the only cable network that had declined to have the soaps anyway “.

Yes, U got it OFF defending this point, AGAIN….! ANYONE care to read in Full can Stroll up to February 28th, 9:16am People have to be more objective. I know, I’m a BIGGER soap fan than anyone, BUT hey, I can’t fault Oprah, and then discount everything she’s ever done., My God. Sure, we know carrying the soaps would bring her an audience BUT if she choses not to do, so, I still feel the same about her, BC I’m well aware of ALL that she has done, EVERYWHERE as U pointed out.

*Chow.

*Chow, I’m exhaust”.

And don’t foget Susan M……What is that mean……….. Another comment with my name in it.. I must be popular!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!! You keep putting my name in your comments!!!!!!!! I wish you & others stop it with oprah we will never agree on that one.. I commented on her for the last time… Hope you will do the same……. I only brought it up because I read your comments.. That’s why…

CANCEL REVOLUTION!!!!!!! put GH in the 2 pm timeslot and the dreadful KC talk mess can have the 3 pm timeslot. It’s really not rocket science but it is ABC we are dealing with, not the brightest kids on the network block.

im hearing katie couric wants general hospital for a lead in to her show.she could be saying that so the soap fans dont boycott her .lets face it us soap fans are brutal , and we stick to our guns and abc is finding that out ,look at the revolution big failure.no show can replace the 2 oclock hour that one life to live had.you dont put on cheap programing and cancel a soap with such rich history ,only a dum ,dum does that.and abc/disney is proving that they have no sense of good business minds when it comes to there day time schedule.they didnt listen to us when we were begging them not to kill the soaps ,go to daytime confidential ,rumor has it the fired the vice president of communications ,that says alot.they dont listen.

@barbara t

Where did you heard that? I’m skeptical, but I sure hope that you’re right. If Katie Couric really wants GH as a lead-in for her talk show, that’s almost a given that GH will survive. ABC thinks that Katie Couric is a goodess. So if Couric says that she wants GH, ABC will listen to her.

Also don’t forget that even though it is produced by ABC, Katie Couric’s talk show will be a syndicated program like Live with Kelly. Meaning that in some market, Katie may air on non-ABC stations and not have GH as a lead-in.

Barb: Our Heather’s in a fight, above…

Nice post Barb. Well written too, and U stayed on point, LOL connecting one thought into tthe next. Nice post. Thanks for the info.

Barbara, what you say about Katie wanting GH for her lead-in makes sense. She can see what’s going on now. If GH is canceled, fans will avoid her show and she will get no help if The Revolution is the lead-in. Katie may end up saving GH because she needs it as her lead-in. Katie will want The Revolution canceled and GH spared as much as soaps fans because it is in her bests interests. This is the best hope for GH I have heard so far.

GH can definitley rebound but it doesn’t help to have dog dodo as the lead in!!! With The Crap and The Revolting leading into GH it’s no wonder that their ratings are falling no matter what they do!!! General Hospital is the best soap on the air and it’s a shame that ABC/Disney doesn’t appreciate or support it or their viewers!!!!!!!

It’s interesting how much GH’s ratings depended on the lead-in of OLTL. The common perception of GH being the stronger soap was wrong. While OLTL emphasized family storylines and an ensemble cast, GH floundered with mob wars and the tedious Sonny and Jason show.

But it’s not too late for GH because The Revolution is so awful and the ratings so poor that it makes no sense not to cancel it, unless the bottom line is that it is so inexpensive to produce that it generates more revenue than GH, regardless of ratings. The embarrassingly dismal performance of The Revolution keeps GH alive, but ultimately the bottom line will determine who survives. GH will probably live into the next year because ABC has nothing to replace The Revolution in the short term.

I feel so sick and sad that lovely, uplifting OLTL, which had so much more humor compared to gloomy GH, had to die for nothing because ABC executives didn’t know what they were doing.

So glad that someone brought this point up…..If GH was the strongest soap on ABC then why is it relying so much on its lead-in show? This should tell them, that maybe….just maybe OLTL was the show you should’ve kept on. With The Revolution being the lead-in, and the strong focus on Sonny/Jason/Carly hour, it’s no wonder why the ratings aren’t higher. Hopefully this will change, and other characters will receive some time in the spotlight…..but this should let ABC know that they were getting a lot of spill over viewers from the OLTL crowd. Big mistake….Big. (imitating Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman…LOL)

I get tired of the mob stories… Time to change sonny’s mob connection to something more positive…

What a way to express it “lovely, uplifting OLT” Such sweet true words.

I am trying to hard to support GH but gosh do you realize that on Friday’s episode we had:

1. Sonny holding a gun on Anthony in the Q’s living room,

2. Helena & thugs with Luke tied to a chair & a knife at Ethan’s throat,

3. Kate wandering around town in a bloody old wedding gown, (why was the blood so bright red by the way?)

4. Jason at death’s door,

5. Robin dead and

6. A terrible car wreck.

Happy Friday, huh? I can hardly even stand to think about OLTL & how damn good it was.

I thought GH was GREAT last week and GREAT today!

Yeah Gloria, I have to agree with you. I’ve been struggling…..it’s just been so hard to watch. I think mostly because I’m still so pissed that OLTL is not on anymore. And I can’t find myself getting too excited about the OLTL characters coming to GH because I would much rather see them in LLanview. GH is just too damn depressing to watch. I feel too drained after watching it…because all the episodes are doom and gloom, and there aren’t enough characters that I actually like…..and the whole killing off of Robin just made it worse. I mean, couldn’t there have been a better way to write her off, other than killing her? And really, how quickly are they throwing the Mannings in with the Corinthos family? This is all happening way too fast. I thought we might possibly get a break from Sonny….but now we have Sonny being the cause of Starr, Cole & Hope being in a car accident…and now Todd will be after Sonny. It’s too predictable and too exhausting….and if they are planning on killing off Cole & Hope, just so they can clear up Starr for Michael. I am done with GH altogether! And shame on you Ron, if that’s what you are planning on doing.

Wow, Gloria. What a way U pointed that **** out., and you’re right! That’s too much disaster, negativity, and depression in one episode. Another thing is looks like they (the new writer’s ) are trying to hard, with the HIGH Drama! They need to return back to basic’s, plain storytelling with/OUT all the extremes. Helena killing her own daughter was unrealistic! And that daughter is much to young for OLD ASS Helena to have had. No, that was no Happy Friday at all. Nice Post!

You are so right 1Loveabcsoaps….I was screaming at the tv as soon as Helena revealed that she was her daughter……there is no way she could be her child…WAY TOO YOUNG. Would have made more sense for them to cast a woman for Luke to fall in love with, rather than his son. Cause there’s no way that she could have a 20 something year old daughter…..granddaughter yes….daughter, no! Case of throwing a story together to fit a situation of the guy playing’s son….leaving. (sorry, but I can’t remember his name….LOL) And I also agree with the opinion that Helena would have never killed her own child! That was all for flash…

Gloria, as if Friday’s episode wasn’t violent and depressing enough along comes Monday: Helena kills her daughter Cassandra while Ethan stands by helplessly and Cole and Hope go over an embankment in their crashed car to their deaths. Yes, it makes me sick too to think how much more enjoyable OLTL was compared to GH that I can barely stand watch.

OLTL was that GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Gloria!!!!!!!!!

OLTL was the best of the 3 soaps! They didn’t care what order they cancelled them because they’re all going off! They’ll probably move GH to 2PM for awhile & then get rid of it next year. ABC doesn’t want to bother with any soaps! OLTL had great ratings but it’s already gone. GH has horrible ratings so they leave it on so when they cancel it they can blame the bad ratings!

Yes OLTL was the best of the three soaps!!!!!!!!! I miss it soooo much! I have the cast picture of OLTL actors & actresses…Every time I look at it I get sad !!!!!!!! I miss Viki, Clint , Nora , Bo , Roxy , Nigel, the list goes on!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, If we love soaps, we have to show some love to GH. It is the lone soap on ABC and they want it gone. We can’t lose another show. I’ve had enough of talk shows and I certainly do not want to see Katie Couric! GH is trying hard for survival, so PLEASE give it try.

Ratings will boost from last week. Not as much as they could have had they done Robins story different. However lots of people liked last week. I wasn’t one of them. Highly disapointed. Lets see what this week brings.

I must say I loved Friday’s GH with the arrival of Starr, Cole and Hope. It felt so good to see them. It made me feel like I was watching “One Life To Live” As long as Gh has OLTL cast members, I’ll be watching.

you and me both,It was good to see starr and I cant wait to see blair and todd today,I keep looking at the clock waiting for that 1 minute before 3 to come so I can put general hospital on.tick ,tick ,tick.

I just turned on today’s (Monday) GH & was not looking at the tv at first but heard Starr’s voice saying “Cole, Cole” & God for just a second I thought OLTL back on. Don’t I wish.

Waiting to John McBain !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dissappointed Natlie will not be with him!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, it was great to see them but starting them off in a violent car wreck? There must have been a better way!

wasnt that great ,there was something so nice about todays episode ,I thought that blair was going to be on,I hope that our robin is not a ghost, still believe she is not dead . today was good ,I have no complaints.I dont think that jason will be very happy to learn that sam kept him from knowing about robin.surgery or not jason and robin are friends and they love each other.thats why patrick has to do the surgery.

let the ratings begin, general hospital is sinking because that revolution show has no one of importance watching.thats not right ,why should general hospital suffer because the stupid people at abc/disney put a dumb show for dumb people on before it?I hope the writer is right and general hospital gets better with the new writers ,aside from robins ending I thought this week was good and I am looking forward to turning g h on,we have to support this soap,I know its hard if your not home because you dont want to keep abc running all day just to see gh,Im at a loss at what to do.and Im not even counted ,how fair is that.this is getting down to the wire ,last week I read somewhere that abc/disney will make a decision on the fate of general hospital in the next few weeks.all I can say is better tune in and watch it live when its on.or we will all be here cursing abc/disney for canceling another one of our beloved soaps, good grief I cant take another loss of another show, there wont be anything left for me to watch.

All I can do is hope and pray that GH improves in the ratings. What they should really do is combine OLTL and GH for a huge boost in the ratings. I just heard the name of the newest crap that ABC is putting on the air. GCB is good Christian Belles, give me a break.

all the prime time soaps abc/disney is putting on look really dumb ,did you see the two bimbos with the gun?they sure are trying to suck us in while we spent the one hour a day with them watching general hospital. looks like more disney trash to me.there programming just keeps going lower and lower in quality.

ABC’s nighttime lineup has some of the worst, trashiest stuff on tv. I would be embarrassed to watch the majority of the shows they air. I remember when ABC was my favorite network-it is pathetic today.

I’m pretty sure that “B” doesn’t stand for ‘belles’! bwahahahaha

I can’t find yhe right topic about oprah … That I posted mt comment on 2/25.. so here it is I extemely dislike OPRAH……..And she does scream & raise her voice,,, I’ve watched her do it when she was on abc!!!!!!!!!! You said oprah had the right to her own opinion !!!!!!!!!!! That’s all well & good!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is full of herself.. Oprah’s OWN channel is BOMBING.. She always has her friend Gail on it (BORING)!!!!!!!!!!! By puyying the soaps on her own channel would have boosted her ratings sky HIGH!!!!!!! Don’t like what she is doing on her OWN channel!!!!!!!!!! What she talks about her topics… She is misleading the viewers…..The revolution STINKS something awful!!!!!!!!!! Oprah is full of CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!! She change’s her sheeys every 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!

When they gave us the revolution, it was like they were trying to tell us…yes eat it…you will love it…. You can’t give us chicken poop and tell us it is chicken soup…uhhh, we know the difference. OLTL is irreplaceable and sorely missed and the network that cancelled was very foolish. Years from now there will be a list of dumbest moves in television history and cancelling OLTL will be one of them.

Come on people show GH some love. We have to stick together and prove to ABC/D that soap fans can’t “be trained like dogs” to watch crap on tv. I have watched GH since Dr. Steve Hardy’s office was in room 714 anf don’t want to say goodbye. Gloria Monty saved GH in the 80’s, now it’s Frank Valenti’s turn.

Well said. I too, started to watch on friday and just finished today’s show. I could feel so many OLTL connections forming and look forward to a blending of both shows historys ! The show itself already seems tighter, Frank and Ron are the ones to save whats known all three ABC shows and build on all the crossovers that have occured in the past.

ABC cancelled the wrong show by cancelling OLTL. It was a strong leadin. So nothing we can do now except GH and keep on hoping that the Chew and Revolution will be dumped. I watched GH on Friday and today and enjoyed seeing Starr again.
I will watch GH as long as I can but will not watch ABC for any other reason.

ABC did NOT cancel the WRONG show, they shouldn’t have cancelled OLTL AND THEY SHOULD NOT CANCEL GH EITHER!

You know what, I read a post on here that someone suggested they combine AMC and O L TL and make it a nightime soap. The person also spoke about the excess of talk and reality shows which we can ALL agree. But he made a point, and I noticed this when I visit homes and restuarants of my friends from DIFFERENT cultures. They have on Soap Opera’s., YES they do!! As the person on this site stated, “Soaps are thrving within other countries, ‘we’ are the only country canceling soap opera’s”. And add to that the person’s first point (of making AMC and OLTL a combined NIGHTIME soap) the soaps I see on T.V, at the home and resturants of my friends of other cultures, are on at ALL times of day…, ESPECIALLY nightime!!!

direct tv has alot of spanish speaking channels, I have seen a few soaps .I dont care when or what time they are on ,I would watch all my children ,one life to live and general hospital in the middle of the night if I had to.or I will give in and get one of those taping machines .I just want the soaps back and general hospital to survive abc/disneys hate for the soaps .good grief, the daytona race is on fox ,I want to watch house and alkatraze ,I like sports, football ,hockey, and baseball ,But I just cant get into a shit load of cars running around in a long ass circle for several hours.

I taped GH today but my cable box can be a pain in the ass so I didnt get todays show.

Get rid of The Revolution! Give Agnes Nixon the rights back to her shows so that they can be produced somewhere else and make ABC look like the sad pathetic excuse of a once good network that they are!!

Although the dismal ratings for The Revolution make me do the happy dance with a big smile on my face, I have to wonder if ABC cares. It’s still cheaper to produce that crap than a quality show like OLTL. Sadly, the bottom line with ABC/Disney is the almighty dollar. I fear GH is next, and that the OLTL stars they are having cross over are to appease the OLTL fans who were up in arms over the cancellation.

I only watch GH. No other ABC shows (primetime and daytime) for me. Their sorry network showed no loyalty to us fans, so why should I show any to them?

Come on everybody stop being so negative gh is so good it’s better than the bold and the beautiful they just have that stupid ass revolution on before it comes on I love it’ll and gh let’s work together to save gh let’s watch it that’s the only way the ratings will boost frank and Ron are good Jill phelps destroyed gh live she did guiding light by killing out alAn her and Brian frons put gh on life support frank will wake it up

Highly Agree….

Let’s not forget it was Frank that gave us the “What If” series… so why not blend all the ABC soaps into GH ???

I wish GH the best. But as for ABC, I hope its downward trend continues. Disney recently released its first quarter earnings and compared to last year….the only division on the downward trend was its Broadcast division which includes ABC and its 8 owned affiliates. There was a 7 percent decline in revenue and a 23 percent decline in operating income. In Disney’s press release it stated, ” Advertising at the ABC television network was essentially flat as higher advertising rates were offset by decreased ratings…”

Good!

i think gh is falling in the ratings because of abc incredibly stupid decision to take oltl off the air now people are disapointed in abc if abc wants daytime ratings back bring back our soaps

abc need to take general hospital off of life support frank ans ron woke it up its real good and i expect for the ratings to get even better abc dont be a fool you said your three strongest shows now gh has proven it self to you dont make the bad choice like you did with my oltl gh is the best out of bold and the beautiful and days of our lives keep them please mr paul lee president of abc.

This new show the revolution is so boring, I can’t believe they took one life to off the air for this, now I just turned the television off. I’m waiting for them to cancel this shows and bring one life to live back.

thanks

ABC line-up provides me more time for other things. The Chew and Revolution are horrible. Heard Couric says her show will be fun. Do we really need two fun shows … Ellen and Katie … ? I lliked Nate but that’s off. General Hospital is my favorite and I watch it all the time. If that goes – so goes ABC! I’ll switch to something else.

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

Dominic Zamprogna

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).

On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.

Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT

Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”

Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”

Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES

In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”

Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.

Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy  for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.

You can check out the full conversation with Chad Duell below.

Now let us know: what show would you like to see Chad cast on down the line? BTG, DAYS, B&B, Y&R, or a new role on GH? What did you think of his thoughts on the casting switch while he was away in the role of Michael? What was your favorite Michael storyline during Chad’s 15-year run on the ABC soap opera?
