REPORT: ABC Doesn't Want Prospect Park To Extend License for AMC and OLTL! Production Company Could Have Until March 2015 To Relaunch Again!

Finally ABC has reportedly responded in court for the first time to the $95 million lawsuit by Prospect Park that alleges the network of sabotaging the online relaunch of One Life to Live and All My Children.
According to an item in The Hollywood Reporter, ABC’s first order of business is to make sure that Prospect Park can’t extend their rights to the two soaps!
As you will recall, Prospect Park is seeking $95 million in damages, and according to the wording in THR,“a declaration that Prospect Park’s continued payment of the licensing fees under the Agreement is excused; that Prospect Park is entitled to an extension of the License Agreement; and that the term of the License Agreement is tolled, from the time of ABC’s breach until the breach is fully remedied.”
A representative for ABC television network, Susan Klein at Valle Makoff, wants the lawsuit ridded of a license extension demand. According to ABC, “The license agreement allows Prospect Park rights on the soaps for up to 15 seasons of 12 calendar months each unless Prospect ceases production for 18 consecutive months. In that case, rights would revert back to ABC. A relaunched version of OLTL was suspended last September, giving Prospect Park roughly until March 2015 to pick it up again. That is, unless the license agreement is tolled. It’s also possible that a trial could take place before that time anyway.”
In addition, in regards to the key part in the lawsuit for the usage of One Life to Live characters on General Hospital, according to THR via court papers, ABC is saying that Prospect Park did not complain while ABC used the OLTL characters throughout 2012, says ABC’s legal papers. “To the contrary, Prospect Park exercised its Option for both OLTL and AMC in December 2012, and the parties subsequently entered into two additional amendments to the License Agreement, which each extended Prospect Park’s time to begin production of the shows and gave ABC continuing use of the OLTL characters on General Hospital.”
So, what do you hope happens now from the lawsuit? Are you hoping that ABC can retain the rights to All My Children and One Life to Live with hope they will bring them back to the network? On Thursday, nominations were announced in the Outstanding Talk Show category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) coming off his first-year as co-host of ‘Live” with real-life wife, Kelly Ripa scored his first Talk Show Host nomination along with Ripa who has been nominated previous times.
Joining Mark and Kelly in the race are: Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, The View

As previously reported, The Talk is coming to its end when its upcoming 15th and final season ends in December of 2024.
The 51st annual Daytime Emmys are slated to be broadcast and stream live on CBS and Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa
Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).
Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.
Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode. It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”
Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it. I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

Susan Lucci Joins the Cast of Jonah Hill’s Movie ‘Outcome’
Look who will be part of the ensemble cast in motion picture and film star Jonah Hill’s new film project! That’s right, none other than Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, All My Children).
According to Deadline, the daytime television icon joins other notables including Laverne Cox and David Spade who have been added to the cast of Outcome. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer (ex-Ben, Guiding Light) and Cameron Diaz.
In Outcome, which is written by, and will be directed by Hill, the dark comedy centers around Reef (played by Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.

Soap fans know that following her iconic run as All My Children’s Erica Kane, Susan went on to be featured in Lifetime’s Devious Maids in the role of Genevieve Delatour. Since her Pine Valley days ended (when AMC was canceled in 2012), Susan has appeared in numerous shows and made numerous appearances. n December of 2023, Lucci was awarded the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Outcome will debut on Apple and is an Apple Studios production. The film marks the latest collaboration for Hill and Apple Original Films, who are also developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, to be directed by Scorsese, with Hill starring in it and as one of the producers of the project, as well.

ABC should bring them both back in 30 minute formats produced in NYC. Everything else has flopped and these were proven shows. The archaic 18-49 slot is meaningless in 2014. 50+ spends and watches and is their audience. JUST BRING THEM BACK ABC. It’d be a very smart thing to do. Please.
I totally agree and have said the exact same thing. They should have the AMC/OLTL hour (30 minutes each, followed by GH).
I agree COMPLETELY – ABC-TV should wise up, take back both shows, either combine them into one show or keep them separate as 30 Minute presentations. I did not especially care for what Prospect Park did with the shows, that’s just my opinion – I watched each and every on-line presentation of both OLTL and AMC and was not overly impressed – they both lacked the “heart” of what they had as Network shows (I’m not exactly sure why, can’t figure out what the missing component was) – but personally, I would rather see them return to ABC’s afternoon line-up.
This is no surprise. ABC never wanted this to succeed. But PP made it much worse than it sould have been. When PP first suspended production I tried to make the point that contracts often have a non-usage clause where the rights revert back if they are not in production. PP has done just about everything wrong from the get go including the writing, sets, and promotion. The lawsuit was their biggest mistake. It is ludicrous. While I agree that it would be in everyone’s (ABC, PP, and the fans) best interest to bring OLTL/AMC to ABC, it will never happen. The best I would hope for is a “special” to wrap up all the loose ends PP botched and then let them both rest in peace. Or sell them to Sony/NBC. NBC has nothing in daytime. (How many hours of the Today Show can we take?) 😉

amc fail when their make it all about the young cast this show could have work if it was not for the poor writing .marrisa never should have die the kids should have stay young.some recast should have been made some man good actors out there that wanted jobs and the big one the five year jump that was bs i think abc should get back the right the soap and sell it.
Sam is totally right. Now it is all over. It is almost February, March is 30 days away, the end of March is 60 days. It is impossible to produce shows like OLTL/AMC in that amount of time. ABC took over a month, sometimes two, to go from production to air. And they knew what they were doing and had a studio/set/writers/crew already in place. PP doesn’t. It takes even longer to write scripts, sign contracts, etc. Best case, there is no way PP can do all this in time now that they have screwed around on this crap for so long. Besides I wonder how many actors will want to return for a third go around. I wouldn’t.

ABC WILL NOT bring them back. They take good shows off all the air and kill them. If anyone has heard of Legend of the Seeker based off the Books Sword of Truth. It was a brillant show that would have been popular with lord of the rings fans, priates of the carribean and harry potter fans, but they aired it at 11:35 at night and decided the ratings were poor and cancelled it after a second season. Of course it will get horrible ratings with that time slot and no advertisment. However, there was a HUGE SAVE THE SEEKER movement did ABC care, no they didnt. Greedy greedy careless people. ABC is greedy and just in it for themselves, do people realize they are owned by disney as well. I hope PP gets it, ABC doesnt care about its fans

LoL It would be nice if the shows would come back as full hour formats but I think most of us on this Planet know that is highly unlikely. I do feel however that it is marginally possible to think that a half hour combination of both shows (meaning, combine AMC with OLTL cast members) would work very well as a half hour show – perhaps as a lead-in to General Hospital.
Pine Valley and Landview are supposed to be near each other in Pennsylvania and the characters have crossed-over from time to time so I feel it would work and keep the fans of each show happily watching.
If ABC will put them back on the air or find a more suitable home for them on a big network then I would like the rights to go back to ABC. If they plan to do nothing with the shows then I hope PP can get the rights extended and get them back on the air. Regardless, I want my soaps back ASAP.
Prospect park made money from the licensing agreement.
PP has no idea what they are doing. If they brought them back, there would be something else go wrong. It isn’t fair to the actors, crew to be brought back only to have something else go wrong.
If PROSPECT PARK gets the rights back, Heaven forbid, how many of the actors would jump aboard that Train again? Does anyone imagine that Debbi Morgan, after being somewhat embarressed by innocently giving the Fans hope, only to have to say they were unofficially “cancelled” would want to come back? What about Jill Larson – would she consider coming back after this mess? It was hard enough to accept a very new cast – I don’t know, but if I am holding out any hope it is that ABC allows the shows to resurface on their Network as half hour inceptions.
I hope that Prospect Park nails ABC to the wall. There is NO WAY ABC would put either show back on the air.
That is exactly why ABC wants them to lose the licensing of both shows. It’s not like ABC has any plans on bringing either show back. They just want to the shows to go away and disappear in the sunset. I hope that PP gets what they need to stick it to ABC…even though I’m sure they won’t. Besides that, seems like most of the actors would most likely be reluctant to come back for another reboot. The actors and the fans have been burned too many times.

Well, if that were true, why would ABC be fighting so hard to get the rights back? Does anyone HONESTLY think that they wouldn’t want to ressurrect the shows in some incarnation? These are not spiteful children trying to make a point, as if to say “if we can’t have them neither can you” it’s a BUSINESS. As cost reduced half hour inceptions the shows would do fine on ABC.
Tom I appreciate your optimism. But honestly don’t think ABC has any intention of reviving either AMC or OLTL.
There are other reasons why ABC would want the rights back to the shows but without revivng the shows.
1) ABC may want the rights to the shows for the sake of just not having to deal with Prospect Park. There’s been tension between the two companies and ABC probably just want the rights back to no longer deal with PP, yet with no intention of doing anything with the soaps.
2) ABC may want the rights backs to do some crossovers on GH. Nothing more.
Also keep in my that there’s no room on ABC’s lineup for AMC and OLTL. The Chew is not going anywhere in the near future. Katie was a syndicated show.
I hope to see OLTL and AMC on Prospect Park. As a loyal fan I was pleased to be able to see the online shows after ABC cancelled them. If PP still is able to produce the shows, I will watch wherever they are. Soap fans are loyal, ABC should have considered that when they cancelled them in the first place.
I have a lot of mixed emotions here, but I know this: I still feel bitter toward ABC, the soaps should have never been canceled and I want OLTL back with John & Natalie, Beau & Nora, Jessica, Clint & Vicki, Rex & Gigi. So I’ll take it however I can see them, Prospect Park or ABC, I don’t care!

The rights ultimately belong to ABC and PP were never suited to handling the task of producing 2 shows on a daily basis. They didnt have sufficient money.
ABC will ultimately retain the rights. That nonsense about them killing off characters on GH is weaker than water.
Once they get the rights back if they’re smart they will license the rights to an actual network that has the resources to produce the shows or sell them to the highest bidder ( that is if anyone is still interested).
Sitting on the rights and doing nothing would be financially stupid because theyre missing out on making money.
Personally I love following this story because it’s far more interesting and any storyline on the former shows. Lol.
If the rights revert back to ABC, there’s a good chance some of these characters well end up on GH. Or even a new venture. I think OLTL and AMC are gone – we need a new hybrid.
Lord I hope not. I quit GH because of Valentini’s hybrid agenda. After more than 40 years of GH I cant stomach it any more. It’s not the GH I love any more.
The fiasco with the one life actors was ridiculous. Casting Roger Howarth as Franco was the last straw for me. In 45 yrs of watching TV I have never seen a worse casting decision. I am sick to death of Roger Howarth, Kristen Alderson and Michael Easton. No thanks.
If all three of them were to come to GH Cartini should have created new characters for them from the start. GH is not a life boat for ABC’s displaced characters from cancelled soaps.
Casting the actors in new roles tied to GH history would have been fine. But this obvious attempt to continue One Life really annoyed me. If they go that route I will prob never go back to watching GH regularly again. SMH.
Well dg, I don’t think you would go back in any event, at least I know I won’t while the RC Saturday morning cartoon hour has taken over the spirit of GH. I so resent the writing that my personal hope is simply that the show is cancelled. Put it out of its misery.
In a perfect world I would like PP and ABC to work together. Maybe a Bell/Sony/CBS Relationship. PP could be granted complete creative control but air exclusively on ABC. The profits could be split between the two. That said, PP can have the option of distributing the episodes outside of TV any way they choose as they were doing. I feel PP is bolder than ABC in most ways they just had a tendency of jumping the gun.
At this point I do not trust Prospect Park anymore. However I trust ABC less than -100%. I do not trust ABC to do anything with these programs and I think they just don’t want anyone else to have them. I don’t trust Prospect Park because they did not communicate with their legion of fans who did everything we could to help their programs. Wrote repeatedly to Prospect Park asking what was going on and also showing how I was supporting their programs. Our biggest either the biggest idiots in the world or extremely disrespectful of theirs Fanbase.. prospect Park put on a More program to supposedly tell us more. But in reality they told us less than any network ever has. I don’t know what to think about Prospect Park. I thought I preferred the programs to be on their PP because I thought they wanted to produce the shows. I loved watching the shows on my computer. I thought All my children online with much better than OLT L. But I was certainly watching and willing to wait while they approved OLTL. I think ABC is mainly the wrong party the party at fault in this, but I don’t trust Prospect Park either. I know is that I want my shows back and They did not care about quality. ABC did not care about quality last few years only the last few days . Prospect Park tried to give the best quality they could I will definitely give them that the sets were gorgeous and the scripts were excellence especially on AMC.
You are correct not to trust ABC. But the difference now is that they have some proof that there is still a market for these shows. Disney hates soaps because of the production costs but the bottomline is that theyre all about profit.
Somehow I dont think A BC will sit on the rights if and when they get them back. They will find someone else willing to license them or buy them out right.
I just want to watch OLTL again, and although I would prefer to see them on TV… I have reservations about ABC.

So that they don”t have to deal with Prospect Park of course. There’s been friction between the two companies and ABC just want to eliminate all ties with Prospect Park. Acquiring the rights back to AMC and OLTL accomplish this desire.
I don’t buy for a moment the idea that ABC actually wants to do anything with AMC or OLTL other than sitting on the rights of the shows or the occasional crossovers on GH..
If ABC no longer want the show, why should they care? I have never understood since it was Brian Frons decision to cancel the show, why not let both shows continue on another channel or the Internet. Since the show that replaced OLTL died a quick death and now Katie has been cancelled, could it be that ABC now realizes the level of their mistake?
I hope ABC gets them back and brings both back where they belong. This was a huge mistake of theirs, but it can be repaired. If they love the fans BRING back our soaps!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with you Kiki. Even though the online AMC and OLTL wasn’t very good and the whole deal was in trouble early on, none of what transpired would ever have happened if ABC decided it didn’t want those two shows anymore. I’ve been watching all ABC soaps since the beginning and saw the handwriting on the wall with the advent of reality shows taking precedent over soaps. Look how ABC (Disney) is getting rid of anything soaps e.g. SoapNet ..I just hope GH keeps it’s viewership up, regardless of how silly it seems to be getting again

I think the key word here Scott is “somehow”. The Connecticut studio is closed down, sets have been sadly dismantled. There has been no word from Prospect Park on the status of either AMC or OLTL – PP’s lack of communication really left the fans wondering what the heck was going on.
Many feel that ABC-TV realizes fully that it made a hasty and arbitrary decision in letting both OLTL and AMC go ~ so, it’s remotely possible albeit not probable that they may yet ressurrect the shows on ABC.

I hope ABC never gets their hands on AMC or OLTL again. They did their best to tank the shows when they had them these past 10 years and then did their best to see that Prospect Park had as many problems as possible.
While Prospect Park certainly had their share of problems and mistakes, they, at least, did their best to reboot the shows and give them more life.
ABC did the exact opposite. Frons and Sweeney ran AMC in particular into the ground. Why would we want to see their grubby hands on either show again?

I totally agree with you Boes . So much so, I stopped watching the ABC day and night time shows…except for recording GH. I hope there have been enough soap fans departing like me to make ABC notice they are now the 3rd or 4th network in prime time ratings. I’m sure their advertisers have noticed.
Michael, one way or another I’d like both shows back. It seems like one spoiled tug of war and soon the rope is going to give in either direction.
I want both OLTL and AMC to come back, but I’m not convinced anymore that PP is the right outfit to bring them back. PP has had major problems with how they communicate to the audience, they hired the wrong HWs initially for both shows, they have misled their actors (not to mention the audience) several times about their intentions to resume production, and there is a new rumor out there from Jeff Kwatinetz’s lawsuit that the investors at PP want to recoup their costs and get out of the soap business, while Jeff K. (and seemingly him alone) wants the shows back in production. I don’t see why I should trust PP anymore.
I have so many issues with ABC, it’s not funny, but if ABC were to get the rights to the shows back and then license them to an entity which had solid capital and was completely dedicated to the soap game (and which understood how to put on a soap, which is not the same as primetime TV–a lesson PP badly needed to learn much earlier than they did), I’d be a happy camper. Or if ABC wanted to air AMC and OLTL again, maybe in a shorter format, either online or on TV (including cable), I’d be ok as long as the new regime at ABC Daytime didn’t treat the shows with the same contempt that Brian Frons did. AMC and OLTL got a raw deal under Frons and that cannot happen again.
I don’t really care what network produces AMC or OLTL just as long as they are in production with quality. If ABC doesn’t want to produce them anymore, then set them free. I have always thought ABC licensed them to PP just to appease upset fans and never expected PP to pull it off. Now ABC ran scared when PP launched that it might be a success and really make ABC look bad.
AMC & OLTL, should return online & via the OWN network. I think they had a nice setup there and both OWN & PP made money through advertising.

The only hope to air the 2 soaps once again was through PP ..
When they did are they were done well for the internet, and in the top of HuLu for as long as they ran, and that is a very big bravo~~!!
I feel– if PP wins their law suit they will have way more than enough to launch the soaps again, and I do believe PP would do just that..
PP was a train wreck from the beginning and in the process they managed to screw up GH by forcing them to change the characters of the three actors who came from OLTL – they need to just go away and stop tormenting the fans of AMC and OLTL – those two soaps will never come back the way they were – GH, Y&R, B&B and DOOL are the only soaps left and the focus should be on keeping them around as long as possible.
I hope this means ABC wants to bring them back! I miss OLTL so much. It needs to be back on ABC. I think AMC and OLTL as half hour lead-ins to GH would be HUGE. ABC’s winning line-up resurrected!
I think ABC has no intention of bringing back All My Children nor One Life To Live. We now know that All My Children and One Life To Live can not get the same grand audience online as it did on the ABC Network, but at least it was free on HULU and broadcast on OWN cable network. Maybe All My Children and One Life To Live can have another resurrection, but without Susan Lucci, I had stopped watching All My Children part 2. Jill Larson as “Opal” and Lindsay Hartley as “Cara” held my interest.
The think that TPTB at ABC heard, maybe even felt, the backlash of disgruntled fans when they foolishly chopped AMC and OLTL. I think there’s money to still be made from these properties (and I apologize for writing about them like a business, but that’s what they are to the network). Honestly, I don’t trust PP with the shows anymore and I don’t know if ABC would have the where-withal to bring the shows back in the thirty minute format. I do wonder, however, if they’d be willing to do occasional “events”, like giving the fans a movie-like update on the shows, letting us see where the characters have gone, what they’ve been doing al a the old “Dallas” specials before the reboot. I’d be happy to see my favorites in a few “special events” throughout the year. If ABD is so concerned about the money it would cost to reboot a soap wouldn’t this be a less expensive way to have the shows live on? Just a thought…
I’m so confused! Why would ABC not want to allow Prospect Park to relaunch AMC and OLTL again? ABC are the ones that CANCELLED the shows! Have they decided that they want the rights back to re-air the shows on ABC??? I don’t get it. It’s true that ABC and Brian Frons really screwed up, angered and alienated their viewers and replaced them with The Chew and Katie Couric – seriously??!! I would love to see AMC and OLTL back on the ABC network, but enough! Figure this out!
I want OLTL but I actually like The Chew too. I don’t care about AMC. The last years of AMC on ABC were an embarassment to the point that even the PP version of AMC was better than the ABC version.
My ideal lineup on ABC would be The Chew at 1:00pm, OLTL at 2:00pm and GH at 3:00pm. AMC can stay dead or with PP.
As a fan I feel cheated. I enjoyed watching on both ABC and PP. But I feel bad for the actors. I wouldn’t trust ABC if they did attempt to bring the shows back, which I don’t feel they would do. Some of the actors already have other jobs. I’m sad.
When PP brought the shows back, they ruined them! They were like a bad acid trip.
AMC & One Life were great online. Prospect Park should have the rights, and ABC will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER bring them back, they canceled them. Plus One Life was fantastic at the end. I want to see why Allison has Clint, and know why Jeffrey is bad. And love Ron Raines as Allison’s brother, brilliant. And I bet that Michelle was Allison’s daughter! And couldn’t wait to see Robin Strasser and Ron Raines together. And Viki and Clint need to find their way back to each other!!! Thank you Prospect Park for a great season 1!!!!
I agree. I thought OLTL was getting better as the series progressed. I think PP did a pretty good job. I would have loved to have seen more of what they could do as they gained experience and resources. Loved the cast.

I agree Katie. I could never get into OLTL online as hard as I tried. I sure miss the show as it was when it went off the air. Oh, the storylines left unresolved! The show was on fire when it was cancelled.
I just want the shows back. I’d watch them anywhere, anyplace, anytime. I know ABC won’t put them back on tv, so the only reason I imagine they want them is so they can use the characters on GH. Just a guess.
ABC shouldn’t have cancelled the shows to begin
with. They should have no say in what Prospect Park
does with the shows as they cancelled them. I just want
them to return weather by Prospect Park or by ABC,
30 minute shows for a total of an hour. Then again,
as mentioned above by another fan, who knows if we can even trust
ABC with them. Bottom line….I hope they come back!!!
If ABC doesn’t air AMC and OLTL, the least they could do is bring back Todd, Starr, and McBain and get rid of Franco, Kiki, and Silas on GH. Lobe the idea of thirty minute AMC and OLTL as lead ins to GH.
AMC and OLTL should go back on ABC and replace with the boring cooking shows.
Abc should put back all my children & one life to live back on tv. Stop making viewers mad and wasting court and judges time and money when there are bigger problems. They were popular shows and could have crossed over with general hospital.

I think Prospect Park should re-launch these shows… But I feel ABC/Disney will block them… “SAD” — Refused to watch TALK SHOWS — they suck….
I may be a minority opinion, but I thought PP brought vibrance and life to AMC. I’d love to see Ginger Smith remain at the helm and the show on any network other than ABC. ABC pissed on AMC for years and it was just plain boring the decade before PP intervened. Let us remember that AMC and OLTL were complete goners until PP came into play. Sure PP made mistakes, but they have persevered more so than the many “loyal” AMC fans who didn’t or wouldn’t even sample the show online. Let PP produce and another network carry the show.

PP got bashed before they even got off the ground – and I read far too many comments from “fans” who never tuned into the online versions who did nothing but bash shows they didn’t watch.
The online versions had problems but those problems could have been – and indeed were being – fixed. And it was great to see old favorites again like Brooke and Opal and Dimitri on AMC and Vicki, Clint, Bo, Nora, Blair and DORIAN again on OLTL. PP showed both shows more respect in 6 months than ABC had in more than 10 years.
ABC made a terrible mistake by cancelling these two soaps and I’m sure that they have felt the sting left behind from the shows’ fans. They tried to feed us crap and we turned them off. This network will NEVER admit they did wrong and apologize to the fans. It just won’t happen and they will not bring these shows back should they obtain the rights to them.
As for PP, they changed the storylines so much because of the unavailability of the actors from the original soaps, that it was almost like starting a new show with new characters. The shows were good but not like the originals.
I truly miss AMC and OLTL…they were like family to me and I am in mourning.
Those two ships have sailed.
I so want the shows back. I have tried to watch GH just so I can see the OLTL 3 but I must admit I cannot stand their characters. It breaks my heart to see Michael Easton as Silas Clay. UgH! He is and always be John McBain so difficult to see him with Sam. I keep waiting to see him with his fiery redhead. I miss him and Melissa SO MUCH, DAMN!
You know Stacey when all is said and done which roles do you think Howarth and Easton will be remembered for? It sure as hell won’t be Franco and Silas . It will be Todd Manning and John McBain. Truth be told.
I would watch AMC1 anytime,anyplace. I do not trust ABC or PP. However, I think PP wanted to make these shows successful but they made so many mistakes. I am sure ABC did not want PP to be successful because it would make them look stupid,which they are. I do not watch anything on ABC including GH. I am a fan of AMC and it was very clear that AMC was the least favorite soap of ABC. If PP brings back AMC, puts the vets in the background and promotes the new young actors, then it is not my AMC anyway so I won’t watch. Most of our vets have moved on and have learned to not trust anything PP says. As the saying goes, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Of course, there is another saying, the third time is the charm!
Bottom line…ABC knows how but doesn’t want to, PP wants to but doesn’t know how. It would be great to see them partner up but that is not going to happen.
I think if i was the judge i would order them to work together to put them on the air and share all profits and no back fees owed.
I would love to see ABC put the shows back on regular TV, but I trust them about as much as I trust a rattlesnake. I think they will get the shows back and let them die permanently. ABC sucks
I don’t think ABC expected PP to be able to put the shows on last year and they were probably pissed at the success PP had with both shows on Hulu, where they consistently were in the top 10 most watched episodes each day. That said, after the horrible writing on ABC for the past 10 years or so, I found both AMC and OLTL shells of their former greatness by the time they went off the network. PP at least hired great headwriting teams for each show and imo AMC 2.0 in particular was on fire online, easily telling the best stories it had since the 1990s. I’d love to get AMC back, but I don’t want
ABC anywhere near it!

Honestly, I love AMC and OLTL but if I cannot have them in their original form, I can accept the cancellation and move on now. The reboots were OK but something lacked . We knew it would not be the same but you know, I would rather have an all-new daytime drama or two than trying to revive what seems to be quality shows best left behind.
Completely agree. I think people need to accept that these shows are gone – for good.
We will never see light of day between PP / ABC having our shows back on tv or the Net. I for one did not like the net rendition. It didn’t even come close to being anything I would want to sit down and watch. They trompled all over the original!. Bar scenes sex scenes, total puke.
Maybe they could place it on nighttime, like Bravo, or something and someone with a sack of talent for producing and directing can place our beloved soaps back on top.

I will always yearn to watch a quality scripted show in the afternoon.
OLTL was an example this. Nothing has replaced my viewing habits since January 2012. News has it’s place, talk does too.. but there is a surplus of both of these.
Reality shows are ok, but you can’t build a long term relationship with them, because they are just basically stupid people doing stupid things to their stupid friends.
Bring back OLTL now that you’ve got a gaping hole in your lineup.

I’d rather have great memories of AMC and OLTL in their heydays than another half-assed relaunch by PP. Keep in mind that if PP won the $95 million lawsuit, there’s nothing to guarantee that either show would be relaunched. More likely the execs would skip off with the cash.
ABC/Disney lost billion over the boycott for the soaps. They may not care, but the share holder the advertiser does care. Disney, always own the soaps they refused to sale, the soaps needs to come back to their time slot as they were in hour length, same director, same cast, same crew. Or their alternative file for bankruptcy.
