Richard Burgi Debuts As General Hospital's New Paul Hornsby!

Starting on Wednesday’s episode of General Hospital, Richard Burgi has stepped into the role of Tracy Quartermaine’s ex-husband Paul Hornsby! When viewers last saw Paul he was played by Paul Satterfield from 1991 to 1994.
Burgi is no stranger to soap operas having appeared on Another World, Days of our Lives, One Life to Live and As the World Turns. The talented actor who has made a name for himself in primetime roles including on Desperate Housewives. Paul re-enters onto GH at a key point in Tracy’s story with the upcoming on-screen departure of the love of her life, Luke Spencer (Tony Geary).
Richard related to Soap Opera Digest about his conversation with General Hospital EP Frank Valentini that helped him decide to come back to soapland: “He liked the idea of me bringing what I can to the part and working with him and the writers to bring out who this fellow might be.”
What do you think of Richard Burgi coming to GH as the new Paul Hornsby? Exciting new story for Tracy ahead? Comment below!
Love this man ! Perfect for the role. And damn sexy, too!
PERFECT!
Mr. Burgi will need to be shirtless. Just saying. Seriously, great news for GH and daytime. And a good pairing for Jane Elliot. Please give this pair some top-drawer story!?! Loved him on ATWT back in the day.
I agree. Burgi is hot. More importantly, he and Tracy connect. I truly enjoyed their banter. Great match. He is a keeper.
He is SOOOOO handsome and HOT !! I wonder if he is SINGLE ?? : )
He would be the type of man I would approach & try to find out more about him… my type , age appropriate & handsome……… sure he has plenty of depth too!!
Go for it, Kristalle….better yet, go get him !!!! LOL. That’s what I call a man….other than my husband, of course…
Sorry to disappoint ladies but you know what they say… “All the great guys are either married or gay”… (lol) Richard IS married to the lovely Liliana… He also has 2 teen-age sons from his 1st marriage & a 7 yr. old stepson from his current marriage. *sighs* I feel your pain… (lol)
So hot! But he is also a good actor . He first came to my attention as Chad the ipimp with the heart of gold on the now defunct “Another World”. Man he just keeps on looking better the older he gets. Before he was on “Desperate Housewives”, he was on the wickedly, funny show that starred.Jay Mohr-trust me, you would have to see the episode to believe it. I am truly shocked that episode got by the powers that be.
It is more than obviou that FV is at work bring back or up the Quartermaines..
Only so much can be done, now..
Tracy has a friend Sabrina..
They are getting stories for the Q’s, that means anything Q wise could happen..
There is Dillon and now Tracy’s ex and Nikolas takeover to bring the Q’s upfront..
Welcome back character Paul Hornsby!
It’s going to be great fall !!! 🙂
su0000, I really hope you’re right and the Q’s are being built back up (again, like last year). But my question is: Where the heck is Leslie as Monica during all this Q family story? Seriously, why isn’t she even on once in a while? I can’t remember the last time we saw her. Anyone have any facts to share?
I know right! She is a vital part (in my opinion) to the Q’s and I miss her so much. I think I read somewhere that she returns the 13th. Hope they give her a good story. She should be Chief Of Staff, Not Dr.O…
Maybe Monica/Leslie has something going on in her life. May be SHE wants a break. She could be fighting an illness (I hope not), or maybe she wants to 0enjoy her life away from the camera. There always different sides to a story, that we-as fans- are not always privy to. Ijs.
Well, at least we finally can celebrate the reappearance of the mysteriously-missing Monica! Looks like LC is back for the lead-up to Jakeson discovering his true identity. By the way, was it just me, or did the returning Quartermaine matriarch bear somewhat of a resemblance to Miss Dinah Shore? I couldn’t help but notice….
So…you have no emotional connection to Laura, who has been the emotional epicenter of the show for 4 decades…yet youre over the moon for a recast Paul Hornsby, last seen on the show 21 years ago. I thought Laura was before your time!
Lol. Love it!
I didn’t realize this actor had previously appeared on a daytime soap. However, I recognize him from various nighttime shows.
Too bad that he is going to GH. I really could see him playing an age-appropriate new love for Ashley Abbott on Y&R. Ashley really could use a stable romantic relationship. I definitely do NOT ever want to see her pining for Victor again. I can’t remember Ashley have a “good” romantic partner since she was married to Steven Lassiter over 25 years ago!!
I’m not even going to mention her present infatuation with Stitch. It doesn’t work.
He looks like Chuck Woolery-original Wheel Of Fortune game show host-in that photo…i rarely watched GH in those years so i dont recall the other actor in the role…did not care for his AW character-think he was Chad on there but i didnt care too much for AW in those days…ok enough of the flashback…will he and Tracy have a lasting storyline or will he be with a newbie instead-i know, he and Tracy will reunite and then he has an affair with her new best bud Saperella Santiago…lol
GONG!
GONG!…that would be perfect had i said Chuck Barris…lol
@jimh….While I would have loved to see the gorgeous Paul Satterfield reprise his role, RB is a fine choice of replacement. He plays the roguish lout very well! This is finally a positive direction for GH….adding some former characters of the right age to inhabit Port Charles. (Although, there has been an overabundance of recasts as of late….4 in just the past month! Toooo many!…Certainly there were enough former original cast members willing to return as the other characters for whom we have been clamoring?)
A lot of cooks in the kitchen BUT him and Rebecca are two welcomed newbies I could get used to for years to come!
Well, Timmm…I’m with you halfway on that. Love Richard Burgi as newPaul, but I could do without any further antics from RB’s Hayden….she’s just too smug and smutty for my taste!
I just hope the writing turns around soon…i rarely watch lately…just glad the actor is part of the Qs storyline…just hope Paul doesnt fall for Sap or turns out to be her father…what if Paul is Sabrinas dad???
@jimh….Thankfully, it would seem that Paul’s “activities” outside of his marriage to Tracy have produced another….son? I just read a spoiler which indicates he tells Dillon he may have a bro in Port Charles….but who could it be???? The only other dude of appropriate age would be Nathan…..could Mr. Hornsby be the aforementioned ex of Liesl’s??? It’s hard to think of him as being more frightful than a Cassadine as a prospective babydaddy, but stranger things have happened….especially with the way the showrunners love to retcon practically every storyline these days. As for the Sapster, could we please just leave her once-and-for-all as an odd-woman-out orphan? People have been trying to assign paternity to this chick forever to make her stick to the canvas in some meaningful way, and it just ain’t gonna work, no way, no how. Sappy is an interloper….plain and simple!
I think it’s awesome that Richard Burgi is now on #GH! I always enjoyed his acting, he’s an excellent performer & can play all type of characters…..nice to look at too! Welcome back to daytime, Richard!!!
The problem is he plays all characters the same way. Not a big stretch in acting. Would have loved to see Paul back. But then again I still love Luke , Laura, Robert, Holly and all the Quartermaines. Ha miss all the good storylines too. The writers can’t seem to bring it like the old team.
Ah, okay. I really liked Paul Satterfield in the role back in the day. Recently, he was on a few episodes of The Bay, and I was hoping Paul would return. I enjoy Richard Burgi and remember him as Chad on Another World? Was he involved with Marley? or Vicki, or both?
Anyways, great that GH is bringing back an ex-husband for Tracey.
Will Jenny follow?
P.S. hey Su0000, Paul is a new character to you! Right? 😛
Hey Jeremy !
Yes, Paul is a brand spankin new but-
I have seen and liked Richard Burgi in other shows (not soaps)..
I like looking at the handsome devil, so that is a huge factor in the thumbs up 🙂
………. No cellar for Richard !
I hate sound pessimistic, but I would’ve loved to have seen the original Paul. But, I’m always grateful when they decide to revisit characters from better times.
Its been so long it doesnt matter much, He is a great actor so Richard will kick butt and he will be acting next to Jane! Its a win win,.
Hopefully, he will be matched with Genie Francis, not Jane Elliot.
Interesting idea.
Why? He and Jane sizzle with chemistry. You don’t think so? Well, we never know. I guess it could happen, albeit Tracy deserves a little happiness.
That’s EXACTLY why it should happen, CeeCee! Paul with Tracy AND Laura would be a great love triangle….Ms. Quartermaine already has a history of animus for Luke’s “Angel,” can you just imagine if once again she has to fight with her for a man’s affections???? Good drama! (Plus, GF deserves a handsome one this time around after having had the likes of Luke and Scotty in recent years….LOL.)
@Shay,
Poor Laura. Seriously. Look at what she had to contend all her life…HaHa.
Regardless; I would have to see how Laura and Paul mesh. I liked what I saw between him and Tracy. I always thought her scenes with Luke were stilted….however, I have no idea how he and Tracy , or with Laura, also, interacted. Was there chemistry? There must have been with Laura, considering the magnificence of their love? That’s all I hear. WOW, did the set light up when they entered the stage?
Scotty? Oh, I always forget about him. He is a big teddy-bear, and he makes me smile. I like him. He’s probably just the right guy with whom to cuddle…….LOL. you know? On snowy nights?
Oh, CeeCee….Back in the day, the chemistry was totally there for Luke and Laura….however, basically what you have seen in the past few weeks has been a one-way effort on GF’s part….she continued to radiate her trademark luminance, and TG simply refused to bask in it by putting in the most perfunctory of performances….at least before Friday. At last, he finally looked his ex-beloved in the eye and surrendered for a moment to their incredible history. While it was brief, it did actually happen. Perhaps that is as good as it will get….I hope to the contrary, but I’m taking a wait and see attitude until Luke strides into the sunset. As for any perceived heat between Luke and Tracy? I never saw it…..to me, it was more a meeting of two very talented, proficient acting professionals who immensely enjoyed an off-screen friendship that translated into an onscreen working relationship that made their characters’ “coming together” look effortless, yet that is not necessarily the ingredients that create a true “supercouple.” That’s my take on the situation. At any rate, I think GF could do very well with RB as her next leading man…and it would be a hoot to see her mixing it up with JE’s Tracy over someone other than the legendary Luke!!!! As for Scotty…..he’s no teddy-bear, he’s a “Monchichi!”…..remember???? LOL!
@Shay.
Ah, my friend….what writing eloquence! Sometimes I forget to praise the proficiency of your writing, and how easily words come to you. The hard part is putting the words together…you’ve got it, babe. Your writing is like eating apple pie with my Bailey-laced coffee. LOL….. Now, how do you like that comparative analogy and eloquence!!??LOL. I wish there were a segment where I could expound on my Astro-Physical skills!!!! Double and triple LOL.
You know, I did get a feel of what once was between Luke and Laura AND Lucky. Those must have been an experience for the fans. It is no wonder, many hold those incomparable and unconquerable memories to heart and mind. Then, again, I am a romantic with an adventurous side, at heart. When I was little, I wanted to travel through space, just to touch the stars.LOL…I thought I could…I would tell myself, “When I grow up….”.
Fortunately, I have my shining stars right here, on planet earth….
Yes, I could already see, taste and feel the fireworks if these three amazing actors and the roles they play (Laura, Tracy and Paul) were to be entangled in a romantic triangle. After reading your take on it, I can’t wait!!!!!
Hey, Shay….your memory is better than mine. I should have remembered Monchichi; considering I had brought it up….Later.
I’ll NEVER forget the “monchichi” label, CeeCee!!! Given it was such an apt description of the spiky-haired, over-stuffed Scotty, it is emblazoned upon my mind….haha! As are your lovely and gracious sentiments….a sincere thanks for them! There are times when the words just come together and flow with utter ease and very little forethought…especially when one is waxing nostalgic on GH’s days of yore….they were truly something to behold, my friend! I so wish you could have been there! However, you mustn’t sell yourself short on the creative front either….you also express yourself with great skill and passion that reveal that romantic and adventurous soul to which you refer….I recognized it from the start! As for your “pie and coffee” analogy….LOL! I shall take that as the highest compliment since I know how dearly-held your caffe’ ritual is for you. (I’ve never been one for the java…tea, mainly of the white, green and matcha varieties, are my favorite cuppas….but hey, on that subject, have you tried the new cold-brewed coffee craze…the carbonated version? I read about it and thought of you…seems all good things derive from the East Coast these days…for example, I’m a complete “brodo” devotee, another superb culinary trend to recently emanate from the NY market!!!!) But I digress….yes, I do believe my proposed romantic triangle would prove to be an explosive and exciting one…although before that occurs, we must witness Luke’s waning days in Port Charles….I am hoping for more of that briefly-acknowledged—albeit bittersweet—affection he ultimately revealed for his lady love, Laura, and the family they created so long ago. To be treated to anything less would be unthinkable for those of us who saw its magnificence firsthand….with some luck, perhaps we shall be treated to one last montage of those priceless moments as Mr. Spencer bids to us his final farewell.
Well Tracy needs a strong partner to banter off with now that Luke is going bye bye– so digging up another one of her ex’s to fit the bill makes sense, now that Dillon is back too.
anything that puts jane elliot front an center gets my support, so i’m all for it Richard Burgi is a hottie, he looks great with jane so i’m excited.
They instantly meshed! He’s a seasoned pro! Sexy in a suit-a hot mess-bring it on!! Even though he’s a replacement, I bought they knew each other forever!! Great choice.
This is true, Laurie! I’m so sick of the endless parade of hipster boys with the same hairdos/facial stubble/beards in their always “Casual Friday” mode of dress. It’s nice to see an immaculately groomed adult male in proper attire, with the savoir faire to match! At last, GH has a true leading man type!
Story? Who Cares…YUM!!!! He can act and he’s Eye Candy. Welcome to GH!!
That sounds like Cartini’s motto. Only usually they are not so concerned about acting ability.
Wonderful news, I love Richard Burgi he is a wonderful actor. Welcome back to DayTime.
Wow Richard Burgi is 56 years old, still a sexy man lol.
Did you see his twitter pic? Excellent! Now that’s a profile pic. Black & white, casual, side view, smile-content & happy man-sexy as hell. A larger pic of probably his family on the beach. Great bio-very eclectic man, seasoned actor, gorgeous family, happy family pics, musical family-he’s the real deal! Very impressive! He’ll nail this. Thrilled GH has him!!
Bring on the Q’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
……Goes to show you, Ricardo that age does not matter if one is as strikingly hot as Burgi. I thought Shay and I were the only ones hung up on age….NOT!! LOL…..some people are just ugly inside and it surely shows on the outside….not this guy.
I wonder if he or a female actress, for instance, were yucky and homely looking, would we be commenting on his/her lack of good looks? Knowing myself, I would be biting my tongue….dying to say how ugly/unappealing his/her looks may be. But, I limit myself, for obvious reasons….LOL. I am not allowed to have freedom of speech here. May wake up the hound. But, Ricardo, if we can praise beauty, why can we not, at least, speak truthfully about the opposite. Sort of hypocritical, I say.
Seriously, though. I must agree with Shay. This guy’s good looks is not just what gives him this aura of presence. It is the entire self; his being; his persona; his essence. He exudes/emanates a self-assured nonchalance which sets him apart from a lesser man. He is soooo cool, man!! LOL.
I don’t know how to express it….I need Shay for this….but, he radiates that intangible ‘thing’ that only a few innately possess.
Very handsome guy an a good actor!
I’m not familiar with the original story or actor but from what I read he was older than Tracy. This actor is ten years younger…though he seems older to me than 56. Haven’t seen their interaction yet…not caught up…but they seem to play off each other well. Good looking guy…
Rebecca, the original actor who played Paul Hornsby was a bit younger than Tracy. I recall them mentioning it at the time.
He fell in love with Jenny Eckert (Bill Eckert’s little sister and Ned’s wife).
Thanks, Harry. I remember now that during the Fluke story they said Ned was married to an Eckert. I don’t remember him with anyone other than Lois and Alexis…and the affair with Monica.
Guess what? Stop the presses. I actually liked him! Yes me, the cantankerous, old grouch who is always complaining that the coffee is cold. And he and Tracy bantered so well together–they were pitch perfect and seamless with their transitions.
Like him–he works.
Let’s keep him.
I’m right there with you Harry… I appreciate they thought this
HIRING through, good pairing for Jane/Tracy… Richard can
ACT imagine that… Now if they would only get rid of or replace
Lulu, Val-Trollop, “MiIND YOUR OWN BEES WAX” Sappy…
They may be on to something.
“…NEW story for Tracy ”
LOL
and right out of the gates… no less
i’m with many…. of course theirs va va voom , he ACTS as well… what a plus
Dillan really does look like “his” parents
“WE” get more Jane Elliott : WOW
Ah, Fanny. Even your ‘sort-of’ negatively expressed opinions of characters is done mindfully and with class. You sound like the kind of person whose last thought is to hurt someone, verbally or physically. You are one conscientiously sweet lady. Vous etes une femme tres deuce et charmante.
I do not mind Sabrina, so much. She just emanates naïveté and goodness to me. But, Valkyrie-Val? I walk with you, Fanny. Too much credit is given to this insignificant, disreputable character. She had her sights set on Dante as soon as she laid eyes on him. Thus, when one, consciously knows what she is doing is wrong, regardless of the circumstances; that is, disrespect the fact that Dante is a married man, and, to her own cousin, no less; well?, she is a Ho, Ho, Ho!!!! I agree with Timmm. Valerie took advantage of Dante’s situation and his hurt state of mind/ bruised ego. She pounced…was it rape? Lol.
Yeah, I know, it’s a soap. Sometimes I ask my husband to smack me upside the head and bring me back to reality…LOL.
Thank you for your sweet sentiments. ….you enjoy your Sunday, as well.
No way are you cantankerous, Harry. Do you have any Havanas in that humidor? LOL….enjoy a couple; they will keep you centered…( Granda says that to Gran all the time when she tells him to stop…LOL).
I do agree with you, Harry. TPTB found the perfect match for Tracy in Burgi.
I enjoyed Paul Satterfield in the role previously. I know they’ve worked w/him on OLTL after that for a long while. Maybe he wasn’t available.
Spectacular choice! He instantly sizzles w/Jane Elliot! This man is classy, professional, a great actor, a seasoned actor, smooth as butter, completely into his scenes. He’s a sexy as hell, old enough to be my daddy-I’d love to call him DADDY!
Excellent choice although PS, the previous Paul looks like Dillon. RB does not, but EXCELLENT choice nonetheless. This man was meant to be on our screens. He’s in his element. WELCOME!!!
RC said Satterfield had retired from acting I have no idea if that is true.
My initial thought was, Jane Elliot is SO good that she can even make Sabrina tolerable. However, Richard Burgi doesnt need Jane;s magic because of how good HE is but together they are daytime gold! I cannot wait for more scenes! I really think Paul and Laura might connect and Tracey will become jealous and go after him. A new love triangle? Lets hope! The ladies deserve the story and we deserve Richard!
Nice press plus
what if Laura and Paul get close…. assuming Traci still goes out of town.. to LA
and comes home to this trio
couldn’t be better stuff
He is handsome. Thought I recognized him but didn’t remember from where, it was Desperate Housewives as Susan’s ex-husband.
I’m glad that they are putting a lot of people around Tracy to set her up for lots of story. Jane Elliot is amazing, and I’m happy to see her on screen as much as possible.
I see a triangle!
While it is a bit random to bring Paul Hornsby back, I would have much preferred Paul Satterfield to reprise the role. Richard Burgi kind of irks me as an actor, so I’m not too keen on this recast right now.
Yay. Someone agrees. He seems nice enough and was really handsome during the Sentinel show era. Now he is showing his age and has always been a lackluster actor. Not sincere I think. Sorry people.
Paul Hornsby is not only back just for Tracy, he is also Dillon’s father.
I see great scenes between Paul and Dillon, too..
This is going to be good!
Paul, Tracy, Dillon and a scene or two with Luke ..
Looking forward to see this story develop..
((I wonder how long Richard Burgi will be with GH,,,,
I’m just going to come out and say it…I’m so glad that Tony is leaving so that GH’s real powerhouse vet Jane Elliot can get a hot leading man and story line worthy of her character’s intelligence.
PREACH.
It’s obvious that he will hook up with Laura and continue to spar with Tracy. He’s instantly breathed new life into the Quartermaine family and I love it. Looking forward to the arguments between Tracy and Laura. They have so much material to work with.
No way..
I hope they don’t waste that handsome bad boy on renaissance gun moll Laura..
Jane Elliot is a much better actress than Genie..
Tracy and Paul will rock!!!
I hope Laura finds out she is a lesbian and is hooked-up with Valerie ..
I can’t wait for Tracy and Paul to get it going 😉
It’s sad. I think you actually believe the words you typed. I’ll be back when this triangle is in full swing. I’ll bring popcorn for the group, and tissues for you.
I’m 100 percent with you on Paul and Tracy. As far as the Laura and Val comment, I just vomited in my mouth!
But, suuuu. How do you know Jane is a better actress than Genie? You said you are not familiar with Genie or her acting. I loved Laura as Genevieve on Y&R. And, from the few weeks she’s been on GH, I fell in love all over again. She is so sweet, and a natural.
Actually, I love both actresses. Each offers something different, engaging and charming in her own way. We need not compare them.
C’mon, Su. It’s time you look at Laura with a more benevolent eye, yes? Okay, then….
PS.
Don’t get me wrong, Su. I much prefer Tracy and Paul together as well. But, one thing has nothing to do with the other. That is, we can’t compare these two wonderful actresses. I just have a feeling Genie’s sojourn will be a short-short one.
Laura and Valerie? What Timmm said.
ABC, LISTEN UP, two lifetime contracts to Richard Burgi and Rebecca Budig, PLEASE!
YES,YES,YES, professional actors such as these should be on contract.
I could easily come up with five contracts to eliminate if money is the issue!
You slay me Timmm….but when UR right…
Five at the very least, Timmm! (Need we name names? I think not…) I was absolutely astounded when I discovered some of the EXTREMELY dispensible GH cast members that were on contract. Such a huge waste of rare resources!
LOVE Richard Burgi… Have loved him since The Sentinel TV series. It will be great to see that gorgeous face & hear that sexy voice again on a regular basis. I think he is perfect for the role & it will hopefully showcase his wicked sense of humor too!
Oh & btw someone tell Kristalle he IS married to the lovely Liliana. Sorry girl! (lol)
AWESOME CHOICE—THEY NEED A CHARISMATIC ACTOR LIKE HIM TO PLAY TRACEY’S NEW LOVE INTEREST

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.
Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.
Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.
Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON
Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”
Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”
When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES
One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”
“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good. I was working with Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.
A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?
As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”
Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
