Y&R's Justin Hartley and Melissa Claire Egan Preview How Chelsea Learns Gabe is Adam Newman!

Next Monday on the July 13th episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) will finally learn that the guy she has the ‘hots’ for (Gabe) is actually her believed-to-be-dead husband, Adam Newman (Justin Hartley)!
Just how does it all come about and what are the turn of events? Two of daytime’s best and hottest performers: Justin Hartley and Melissa Claire Egan previewed the big reveal on the CBS Sudser with Michael Logan at TV Insider.
Apparently, the moment occurs after a gloating Adam, when standing before the portrait of his father Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), kind of blurts out that he is indeed Victor’s son, Adam … and Chelsea overhears him!
Hartley weighed in on the reveal saying: “After Adam gets caught, there’s a choice he can make. He can try to get out of it by saying, ‘Hey, Chelsea, I was just making a joke!’ And he sort of starts to go down that road but then he doesn’t. He chooses in that moment to not give Chelsea an excuse, and I think it’s because of his love for her. Enough is enough. He realizes that as good as everything seems to be with their relationship, it is still broken at its core.” The actor went on to say, “We’ve all been in that position where we’ve lied and then the truth comes out and at first you’re, like, ‘S–t! That sucks. I am such an idiot!’ But then you’re going, ‘Whew! It actually feels good to get that off my chest.’ But Adam also thinks he can fix this. He thinks he can fix anything.”
Egan related: “In those first moments, she’s all about trying to embrace the fact that Adam is alive. But then all the questions start coming, like, ‘How could you lie to me about Delia?’ In the episode after the big reveal, a lot of her questions get answered.”

I think it has to happen as just about the same time of the Marco/Jack reveal to further throw the town into chaos.
I also hope that for once, Victor pays BIG for the disgusting actions he has taken. If they try to make him sympathetic in any way they have truly missed the mark.

If Chelsea forgives him she is dumber then I think she sounds all the time with that baby voice. Adam clearly does not respect or trust or love Chelsea enough to be honest with her but he can be with Sage and Jack?
Adam’s huge love for Chelsea is exactly why he hasn’t been able
to tell her yet. Would be too terrifying to think she may not understand,
(even though he knows deep down he can trust her.) and then lose her
and Connor completely. But Monday will be great I hope!

well I’m surprise they are doing this in the summertime but it sounds like it really happens and it isn’t just a dream or in someone’s head, so I’m looking forward to it. No that he is with Chelsea it makes sense she will find out and be force to decide does she keep his secret or does she rat him out to the police

I think she will tell because he never loved her he loved Sharon from what I remember all those years. Chelsea was forced to live with Adam because of her lying pregnancy once again. I love the new Adam, he has great chemistry with Chelsea. I do not like the new Billy, nor do a
lot of the people on the forums. An easy out would be that Billy was behind the wheel of the car that killed Delia, he shot Adam because he was going to reveal that he was using again or cheating on Victoria, which caused the car to swerve, kill Delia and the real Gabe Bingham. Then we get rid of this Billy. He doesn’t have chemistry with anyone. Then Adam is cleared, and he has Newman away from Victor. When Delia was hit, Billy was in that little convenience store, wasn’t he? I clearly remember that. Billy came out, and both the dog and Delia were gone. Then, he found Delia in the bushes. But it’s a soap. The writers can spin it anyway they want.
I think the best candidates are a drunken Nikki, and/or crazy Maureen. Just a thought!
If I remember correctly, when we heard tires screeching, all we saw was the dog. But, I think, Adam assumed he killed Delia….I believe Adam drove through after the accident had already happened. Dash, the dog, took off. Could the pet somehow hold a clue?…….hurry up and find that dog, Adam. LOL.
Cee Cee, you’re right with your deconstruction. I just want to underscore the fact that Adam did not assume he had hit little Delia until the next day. I know YOU know that but it bothers me that it is not mentioned on the show. He left the scene of the accident not knowing that he had hit the girl.
On another note, I knew something tragic was going to happen to poor Delia when they decided to name her Cordelia. Delia is short for Cordelia–this is the name of King Lear’s youngest, and sweetest daughter. When Cordelia is killed as the result of the sins of her father, King Lear cries,”My poor fool is dead.”
A play on words, of course, but you get the point.
I was reading it was Kelly that killed her, the real Jack knows. But who knows for sure.
Billy didn’t hit Delia, but he does share in the blame as he left her alone in the car.

I think Sage killed Delia.
Okay, we must remember there has been two changes in head writers since the story of Dee’s death. We have no idea how Mr. Griffith would have penned that story since he quit and JFP and her minions used that story to get rid of MM. So any clues we saw when it first aired are moot because Mr. Pratt can rewrite history any way he sees fit.
As many pointed out there was a name Kelly on that list that owned a black SUV, so perhaps the original plan was Billy falling in love with Kelly and then she would turn out to be the one to ran down Deliah. But the way they played Kelly after Ms Altman took over as writer doesn’t connect to someone who would have run down a child and not say anything about it, of course then Pratt made her a bit looney, so it could still be feasible to pinned it on her.
My thought at one time was they were going to make Mason the real hit and run driver. Mason was Hilary’s boy toy who was working with her to get back at Neil. The reason I thought it was Mason was his reaction when Devon offered a million dollars for intel on who the driver might be; he was awful nervous and seemed guilty, he left town shortly after that. He was slimy enough to be the type of person to hit a child and then take off.
At this point, Pratt can do anything he wants– but if I was writing this, I wouldn’t make the real driver any of the characters on screen now or ever. At this point I would just write some random person from out of town who did it; They were too scared to come forward, but then now they found out they are dying, so to clear their conscience they return to GC and confess to Paul what really happened. That is the route I would take.
Remember when Victor had that list of names of people who had black SUVs like Adam’s and he was crossing names off the list to see if any of those SUVs had been in an accident? Since I record the show, I remember pausing on the list and the name Kelly Wilson was on the list. This was around the time that Kelly and Billy slept together and she had a prominent presence in the main storyline but no real backstory.
Anyway, at the time I thought for sure they were going to spin it and make Kelly the driver and absolve Adam of all wrongdoing. It seemed plausible that Kelly had come to town under a different last name. But then I thought, how bizarre and cruel of the writers to make a woman who had lost her son in a car accident take the life of another child while driving her car. And THEN I thought, maybe the story of her dead son was a cover for something else. Maybe she never had a son named Sam. And THEN I thought, there is no way Adam hit her. He wasn’t drunk; yes he was speeding, but wouldn’t he have felt the impact? How did he get that crack in his front light? And he did stop his vehicle and just saw the dog. So his senses were heightened, he would have felt that he had hit someone. No? Yes? What? Why? WHY?!?! This has gone on too long!!!
And now I’m thinking that Nikki did it because she was drinking back then, wasn’t she? And that reveal would DEFINITELY get her to sober up. But that would be her second homicide…after doing away with Diane Jenkins. So…yeah, I think Adam is going to carry this albatross around his neck forever.
And since I mentioned pausing a recorded show , did anyone else pick up the typo on the DNA test that Ashley read the other day? About how the DNA sample could not be “EXCUDED” , rather than EXCLUDED? You’d think they would have the time to spellcheck. Jeez.

How could billy be the one that hit Dee. That does not seem to be an easy out imo. He was with Dee that night not out cheating.

Thanks for brining up LEAR (my favorite to teach!) Cordelia was killed defending her father’s kingdom, even after he banished her. When Lear arrives on stage with her dead body, he repeats, “Howl, howl, howl, howl, howl, howl”– no words in the English language to describe the pain a parent feels with a child’s death. ONCE AGAIN, had the writers any true foresight (instead of their continual cheap gimmicks) they’d put the UMPPHH back in the show.
If we had Michael M we would have our Sharon and Adam back for sure. Like why did they not have Adam tell Sharon who he told everything to. Why bring Sage into this show when Sharon and Adam would do everything possible to save the other . I love Shadam no Chadam for me. Plus he can’t tell Chelsea the truth for a year so um what does that say Hmmmmm
I agree they missed an opportunity when “Gabe” first came to town and he tested out his new face first with Sharon. If I had been writing it I would of had Sharon recognize him as Adam right off– that would have fitted with the history of those two characters and still left some hope that they might find their way back to each other. But the direction they took Adam after MM left and the way they are writing Sharon, I seriously doubt they will ever be a couple again until there is a change in writer or producers.

How did Adam break his tail light? When the piece they found at the scene it fit Adams tail light.
I am thinking it was Sage who hit Delia. Somehow I feel she is hiding something and knows more than we think. I do not care for Sage either.
Personally I would love to ask Josh Griffith who he had planned to be the real hit and run driver. The character Sage didn’t even exist when he penned this story. The only one who really knows how that story should have turned out is him. Of course Pratt can rewrite history any way he might like, but in my opinion, since Sage wasn’t even a character at the time, it would be silly to make her the driver now.
I completely agree, Mary!!! It was so clear in how Griffiths left details ambiguous that Adam could not have done it. He didn’t even know he had hit anyone until the next day. Plus, the fact that he stopped the car when he saw the dog indicates that even though he was speeding, he wasn’t driving recklessly enough to not notice a figure in the road.
It also seemed that the writers didn’t know what to do with the character of poor Kelly. She came to town with a flimsy storyline of having lost a child in the same way Billy did. Since a “Kelly Wilson” was listed on the list of people to whom black SUVs were registered, I wondered if it was going to prove to be Kelly who was driving that night, distraught over the revelation of her affair with Billy. Then Cady McClain came on board, and the character of Kelly got more depth…and then, the writing regime changed and she veered off into another universe.
I agree it would be silly to have Sage be the driver now but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do something like that. I keep trying to forget that Sharon married Victor after having been married to Nick and Adam – and then she got back together with Nick and all I could think about was how gross it was that she slept with Victor. But it’s clear they’re going to go in that direction with the nasty Abby-Ashley-Stitch love triangle….it’s like reading Ovid’s Metamorphoses!!
My last paragraph may not make sense but what I was getting at was that often the writers expect us to forget or kindly “forget” the details so they can expand a storyline as they see fit. Sharon’s marriage to Victor is rarely brought up because it is so gross to think about …yet we all know it happened.

Here I am with foot in mouth!!! When Y&R decided to replace the last Adam Newman I laughed and thought “well that will never go over with the fan’s”. Day one Justin covered head to toe like a mummy in bed just didn’t work for me at all. I actually skipped a few episode’s. Then one day tuned in as Justin (still covered head to toe) waved Sage over to the bed. He kept saying (in a whisper) closer. She kept talking and got her ear down as close to his mouth as she could as he said “Shut Up”. That day for me Adam was reborn and he’s been Adam ever since. Anybody else remember that or when Justin became Adam? I love J.H. with M.C.E. I think they play well off each other and their both beautiful people.

they gave the Michael/Adan fans over a year to calm down and waiting over a year to bring in a New Adam worked out well..
If they would have recast Adam within a couple of months I think it would have been a different outcome..
Justin is okay, but as slimy as Adam could be, MM had a way to make me see the wounded boy inside of him that didn’t always condone his actions, but at least had me believing Adam never did anything from an evil intent. I don’t find Justin’s take on Adam has the same vulnerability–I am getting used to him, but he hasn’t wow me yet.
I agree. I think Justin is doing a really good job, but he lacks vulnerability. I would sympathize with MM, but not with Justin’s take on the character, but he’s still quite good.
Also as a side note, i think that Justin’s Adam is kinda too too young for Sharon, although she looks great for her age, but then pairing would be off, imo.

I just want it explained, once and for all, that ADAM was NOT responsible for killing Delia!
I would think someone would know if they ran over an elementary school child. This bologna has gone on too long. Why didn’t they use the time Adam pretended to be Gabe to investigate Delia’s death instead of all the corporate machinations? I never believed Adam would run over Delia. Adam may be many things, but not that. It was someone else.
Now that Nikki has fallen down the rabbit hole even further, why don’t they just come out and say it was she who ran over Delia? Lord knows Nikki has not hit “rock bottom” yet. I guess killing Diane Jenkins was not rock bottom so why not have her be responsible for Delia too. I am sure these “writers” could find a way to make Nikki Teflon again.

To those of you who don’t like Adam with Chelsea all I have to say is that the two have a child together. That changes everything. All the stuff with Sharon in the past might have been fun to watch. But for the show to be real, Adam needs to come back and reclaim his FAMILY..you know the one Billy stole from him..Adam has a boy and for this story to feel real he should want to be in his son’s life and not Sharon’s.
Right, Joe. I loved Sharon with Michael Muhney….but, I have reservations having Justin and Sharon as a couple.
Nonetheless, I don’t think Chelsea and Gabe/Adam mesh….perhaps, the very person who knows his secret? Marissa? This girl garners/reaps mystery and sensuality….but, more importantly, I sense loyalty in her. I saw something between her and Noah, but, for some inexplicable reason, I see Noah as a boy. Marissa is too much woman for Noah. We shall see what TPTB have in store for us. At this point, the storyline, as fresh as it is, can go in any direction.
Maybe Marissa is Miguel’s daughter? Now that’s a blast from the past!

Y & R has a great story line! Jack has shown fabulous acting talent. Still I miss the days when Victor adored Sharon and Adam was her great love! there doesn’t seem to be much chemistry though between Sharon and Justin not the same as with Michael Muhney. Hopefully there’s a Sage and Marco connection to the real killing of Billy’s daughter Delia. To free Adam from the crime!
All three actors who have portrayed Adam have been good but Michael Muhney is one of the best actors in the history of daytime.The current writing and production regime has destroyed this once great show which has,with a succession of bad writers and worse management,been in decline for years.It’s truly a shame.

Jean Lodge, British Actress and Mother of ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘General Hospital’s’ Charles Shaughnessy, Producer/Director David Shaughnessy, Dies at 99
Our hearts and condolences go out today to Charles Shaughnessy (ex-Shane Donovan, Days of Our Lives and Victor Cassadine, General Hospital, and Maxwell Sheffield, The Nanny) and his brother, David Shaughnessy, one time executive producer and director at The Young and as well as The Bold and the Beautiful, on the loss of their beloved mother, Jean Lodge.
Lodge was a British actress who appeared with Alan Ladd in the 1954 medieval adventure film The Black Knight. She died at age 99 on August 5 just one day after she celebrated her birthday. News of her passing came from her granddaughter, Amy Shaughnessy who took to Facebook with a tribute to her beloved grandmother.
Throughout her motion picture career, Lodge was featured in 1949’s Dick Barton Strikes Back and Dr. Morelle: The Case of the Missing Heiress. Later credits included: Brandy for the Parson (1952), White Corridors (1951), Final Appointment (1954), Accidental Death (1963), The Eyes of Annie Jones (1963) and Invasion (1966).

THE SHAUGHNESSY BROTHERS CARRY ON THE FAMILY LEGACY
Talent runs in the Shaughnessy family as Lodge’s late husband, Alfred Shaughnessy, had developed and served as head writer and producer on the acclaimed 1971-75 UK series, Upstairs, Downstairs.
As daytime fans know, Charles Shaughnessy was one-half of the Days of Our Lives super couple of Shane and Kimberley (Patsy Pease) and has appeared on the soap opera on and off for decades starting in 1984 up until his more recent appearance in 2025 at John Black’s memorial. In addition, Shaughnessy was the last actor to play Victor Cassadine on General Hospital, a role he played from 2021-2023.
David Shaughnessy has continued his career behind the scenes mainly as a daytime soap opera director with a list of credits from Santa Barbara to Y&R, B&B and since 2019, Days of Our Lives.
HEARTFELT REMEMBRANCES
When Amy Shaughnessy took to Facebook to announce her grandmother’s death, she expressed, “Jean Margaret Shaughnessy (neé Lodge) left us today, one day after her 99th birthday. She passed, as she would say, “quite quietly” and peacefully in her sleep. My grandmother was a beautiful, talented, complicated, passionate, emotional, energetic woman who was always on the move and full of life.”
She continued, “The perfect hostess Jean enjoyed parties, friends, socializing, the theatre, feeding the ducks, museums, gardening, music, culture, long walks in nature, animals, painting (she was amazing!), cooking, art, traveling… the list goes on. She loved her two sons, Charles and David, her daughters-in-law, Susie and Annie, and her five granddaughters, Amy, Jenny, Katie, Maddy, and Josie. She was blessed with two great-grandsons, Julian and Noa.”
“An ever-present matriarch, her silliness, stubbornness, joyfulness, and her love for storytelling will continue on through her family. Us. Forever. We will miss her. We will carry her with us always. We love her all the world and then some.”

‘General Hospital’ and Y&R Alum, Kelly Sullivan Joins ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ as Dylan’s Mom
The Bold and the Beautiful is continuing to expand the on-screen family of Melissa Dylan played by Sydney Bullock. Now comes casting news that none other than two-time Daytime Emmy nominee Kelly Sullivan has been tapped to play Dylan’s mother, Darcy Dylan.
According to TV Insider, viewers can look for Sullivan’s B&B debut on the August 27 episode of the CBS daytime drama series. Sullivan has made quite the impression on soap opera fans in the past, so it will be intriguing to see just what Darcy Dylan is all about and how it has affected her daughter, who does not always seem on the up and up as she has set her sights on Will Spencer (Crew Morrow).
Kelly first appeared on the daytime scene as a recast for fashion editor, Kate Howard on General Hospital in 2011, after replacing Megan Ward in the role. However, she suffered from dissociative identity disorder and battled with her alter-ego, Connie Falconeri. Eventually in 2014, she was shot and killed by Ava Jerome (Maura West).

Next, Sullivan moved over to The Young and the Restless where she played Sage Warner from 2014-2016. In story, Sage was involved with both Adam and Nick Newman, then played by Justin Hartley and current long-running cast member, Joshua Morrow, respectively.
Sage was the biological mother to Adam’s son, Christian, and gave birth to him before she died, as part of an umbrella story involving Sharon (Sharon Case) and Dylan (Steve Burton) believing Christian was their child named “Sully” and the entire Adam/Nick saga of who is the real bio-dad to the child.

HOW WILL THE ARRIVAL OF DARCY DYLAN IMPACT MELISSA DYLAN?
The casting of Sullivan comes after it was revealed back in May that Remy Pryce was returning to the canvas, and Christian Weissman was on contract with the soap opera. In recent months, it was revealed that Remy is a cousin of Dylan’s.
Taking to her Instagram after the casting news broke on Thursday, Kelly shared her enthusiasm at her new soap gig and gave a shout out to her new boss, the executive producer and head writer of B&B, Brad Bell.
Kelly wrote, “I’m very excited to join the The Bold and the Beautiful family and bring this force of nature to life. Thank you Brad Bell, for this amazing character. I can’t wait to step into Darcy’s boots.”
When not acting, Sullivan has become an accomplished acting teacher. Kelly’s other previous credits include: The Morning Show, Never Have I Ever, The Winchesters, Chicago P.D. and many more. Kelly is also featured in the upcoming film Ethan Almighty: Ethan’s Law, with a cast that includes: Kelsey Grammer, Brandon Routh (ex-Seth Anderson, One Life to Live) and Trevor Donovan (ex-Jeremy Horton, Days of our Lives).
Sullivan was previously nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her role on General Hospital in 2014 and The Young and the Restless in 2016.

As ABC’s General Hospital continues to make casting additions in front of the camera; a new report indicates that Chris McKenna is the next contract player to be written out of the show as his storyline as Port Charles WSB bureau chief, Jack Brennan, is coming to end this fall.
According to sources close to the situation, who informed Soap Opera Network, McKenna will exit the long-running soap opera when Jack is killed-off the canvas. The outlet shares, Brennan’s death will come about as the soap, “leans heavily into storylines surrounding the World Security Bureau (WSB).”
McKenna, who previously appeared on the soaps when he was 12 as a young Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live from 1990-1993, then as an adult as Mark Harding on The Young and the Restless from 2014-2015, and next on The Bold and the Beautiful in the short term role of Dr. Hayden, began his run as GH’s Brennan back in February of 2025, replacing Charles Mesure in the role.

JACK’S ROCKY ROAD TO ROMANCE
In fact, McKenna won the part over Daniel Goddard and Daniel Cosgrove, who eventually were cast in other roles on General Hospital, that of Henry Dalton and Ezra Boyle, respectively. Chris informed his fans via X, back in August of 2025, that he was put on contract at the daytime drama and thanked them for helping make it happen.
Chris told Michael Fairman TV how it was to step into the role previously played by Charles Mesure, “I knew the challenge it was going to be and I had a like 0nly five days to get my head around it, so I was ready for it. Sure, it was challenging, but I was up for it. I was a recast before on The Young and the Restless.”
On-screen, Jack became romantically involved with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), but that went bust when Carly learned Jack was not up front with her and had secretly enlisted her daughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) to join the WSB. Over months, Carly plotted to get revenge on Jack, and suddenly, Valentin Casssadine (James Patrick Stuart), Jack’s mortal enemy, came into the picture and he had fallen for Carly and she for him.
Now, Jack has started up a relationship with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and has found himself in situations stooping to lows to help Nina and her criminal daughter, Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) out of jams, especially where Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) is concerned.

REUNITING WITH ERIKA SLEZAK
Last fall, Chris got a thrill of a lifetime when his OG on-screen mother from One Life to Live, the iconic Erika Slezak (ex-Viki) took on a guest role on General Hospital as Ronnie Bard, the secret sister of Monica Quartermaine (the late Leslie Charleson). While the two did not have a storyline together, Chris did share some tender moments reconnecting with Erika on the set,
McKenna has a laundry list of primetime credits including: State of Affairs, Good Trouble, Lucifer and Castle, where in an ironic twist he appeared alongside another Joey Buchanan none other than Nathan Fillion.
