On Tuesday’s episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, the marriage of LANE took a major hit, when Lily (Christel Khalil) admitted to Cane (Daniel Goddard) that she slept with none other than Joe Clark (Scott Elrod)!

At first, Cane was actually understanding thinking that Lily just kissed Joe, since he also was caught kissing Lauren (Tracey E. Bregman), and the two agreed to go through couples counseling.  But then a guilt-ridden Lily admitted it went further than a kiss, and she slept with Joe.  Cane was visibly upset.  So upset that he later said to Lily, “You want me to forgive you? I will forgive you when hell freezes over!”

After Cane kissed Lauren and Lily slept with Joe, and Cane tried everything to make it right with Lily after his lip-lock with Lauren, where does this duo go from here?  What did you think of the performances of Daniel Goddard and Christel Khalil in the key scenes?

Watch the moment where Lily confesses to Cane after the jump, and then share your thoughts on the future of LANE!

Oh please, after all the crap Lily has forgiven him for he can’t muster up any understanding to forgive her one half drunken slip—not excusing cheating, but honestly saying he will never forgive her, which is when hell will freeze over is a bit extreme. Of course, all this happened for one reason, I think poor Joe Clark is going to get whacked, and they need to fill out the suspect list, right now we have Avery, Dylan, Cane, perhaps Lily, Sharon, because Sharon is always a suspect in any murder in town and I’m sure there will be more before it happens–

If there were a like button in here, I would click it for Mary’s comment.
The Sharon comment really made me laugh.

PS. I LOVE that Sharon seems to be in redemptive mode now.

PSS Hey Mary. When Cricket was speaking of her own rape, I thought she was referring to the time Paul raped her. But she mentioned another man, Derrick someone. I do recall this, albeit vaguely.
I guess Cricket was raped two times but I clearly remember when Paul raped her. I am wondering if they are hoping we forgot?

Ok now I’m confused. Didn’t Michael Baldwin rape Christine at one point? Mary where are you? Your the one with the great memory.

Cricket was date raped by Derek who later committed suicide then Michael Baldwin stalked her dug his way into her apt thru a closet was attempting rape and Danny & Paul saved her. The storyline with Paul forcing sex on her because he wanted her back was controversial on whether or not they thought it was rape. Michael went away to prison later came back etc. this was during Bill Bell days of course and his daughter was involved in almost every major headline story of the day. I have my doubts that it is Joe who raped her this is Pratt and Phelps it will probably turn out to be her Doctor that is what they did on Santa Barbara years ago with the character of Eden. A graphic rape scene that is why I find it amusing that some people say oh what Pratt was going to do with the character of Avery other actresses have played much more intense scenes then this storyline.

As for Lilly this was just a fast plot of Pratt’s to break up a couple he finds boring now Cane can hop in the sack with Lauren. Yawn!

So Cricket was the Summer of her time? You know, involved in EVERY story line!

Oh my GOSH! I completely forgot about that storyline where Paul forced himself on Christine!!!!!!

Thank you , Kay. I was pretty sure Michael Baldwin was found guilty of sexual harassment, or at least charged with such.
After Paul forced sex onto Christine, they both acted so freaked out that it sure did appear to be a case of rape. To me, it was definitely rape and totally out of character for Paul.
I think they’d like us to forget it.

Sharon and Adam are my favorite couple. I dont get them anymore so I have not been happy. Chelsea is and was a drive by when Adam was upset Nick forced Sharon to choose between Faith and Adam

Spot on, Mary. That line “when hell freezes over” was so lame. I’m not a fan of Lily’s but Cane acted like he was under the spell of a siren when Lauren kept crying on his shoulder and it is clear from that KISS that it was not a little peck – it was a full-on passionate kiss.

Again, we have a storyline where a male character cheats by kissing (Billy-Victoria-Chelsea and Cane-Lauren-Lily) and then the female character reacts by having sex with someone else. In both cases, the female character is treated like she should be stoned to death (Billy’s slut-shaming of Chelsea at the altar, if you can call a step at the Athletic Club an altar) and Cane’s hell freezing over line to Lily. I”m not saying Cane should forgive her right away or that what Lily did was right, but this archetype of revenge sex as done by the woman and as being WORSE than the cheating done by the man who is suddenly absolved of everything he has done to step out of the relationship, is tiresome and overly simplistic.

Lily and Cane are too saccharine for me and all they have done lately is have sex in different rooms at the Athletic Club; but like Lauren and Michael, they have a history together that is very human and personal, and it’s been treated in such a wishy washy, generic way that makes it hard for me to be sympathetic with any of them.

Great post!
I totally agree.

Lucia,
I just posted a reply to your post, and forgot
to add YES, Cane’s comment about hell freezing
over did seem lame and over the top jerky of him.
I get that he just found out, but still. And so Lily made
a mistake. She didnt have to come clean, yet she did,
immediately, too.
I had wanted Lane to stay together, but now I don’t care.
Cane can go jump.

I’m not crazy about either character, but they did a helluva job with their scenes yesterday.

Cane isn’t too forgiving!!!

We need more happy couples.

Sharon and Adam please again

I hope that in time Cane will forgive Lily. He needs to own his part in all of this. His lies of the past and his recent lying for Devon led her to distrust him. Then he was always putting Lauren before her. How many late nights working, broken dinners, holding Lauren’s hand and then finally as kiss. A kiss that Lauren AND Cane initially told her to just “get over” Lily asked him to back away from her and he wouldn’t . Lily was very, very wrong for breaking her vows but she didn’t act in a vacuum. Lastly, after all Lily has forgiven, I hope in time he will be able to forgive her.

Awwww, Heidi. I really appreciate your sentiments. But, I could never be so forgiving. The trust would be gone. Trust is so important in a relationship.cane, or anyone, would always be wondering, no?
There is never a good reason for cheating. I do not like Cane…never did. So, I really don’t want to give the impression that he did no wrong. He did put Lily through the wringer. But, did he cheat? I don’t remember. Even if he did, she should not turn around and repay him in kind. Where is her dignity? It was revenge sex, pure and simple. Easy-come-easy-go sex is rampant everywhere, I get it. What I don’t get is…”Oh, I love you….forgive me?” I do not like it when those three little words are spoken in vain. I guess, it’s just moi?
We shall see what happens.

They forgive in the church’s but in real life if someone cheats, yes, you may forgive him or her but how could you ever trust them again?

I agree Heidi. I think “once a cheater, always a cheater”, but that applies to Cane as much as it does to Lily. It seems that so many people are quick to point the finger at Lily because she slept with Joe, but if Lauren and Cane were in a hallway at the Athletic Club when they had that hot and heavy kiss, don’t tell me that they wouldn’t have found a room to rip each other’s clothes off. Ever since then they have acted like Lily is crazy for getting upset about the kiss – which makes her more crazy – and they have been giving each other these long, lusty looks from across the room at the Athletic Club. It is only a matter of time before they get together and Cane now has the authority to sit on his high horse because Lily beat him to the punch. It seems bizarre that the expectation is that a kiss should be forgiven and forgotten because it was “just a kiss”.

Christel and Daniel were so amazing yesterday. The scenes were heartbreaking, but I don’t doubt that Lane will find their way back to each other. They just belong together.

Lily feels guilty? Awwww, poor thing. Where was the guilt when she spread her legs and hung on Joe like a monkey?
My ideals are too antiquated for someone my age, I know, so, I am certainly not the right person, nor am I qualified to give any advice. But, I do have an observation….I could never understand how a woman, whose mindset is so starkly different from a man’s, concerning affairs of the heart, falls into bed with someone she does not love. It defies the definition of love. So, it is lust over mind. I can’t stand people who fall prey to stupidity. Oh, I get passion, I get lust, I get how the power of desire can suffocate….but, with someone who holds one’s heart.
This is not within the realm of what love is to me. Foreign concept……how does a woman, who is in love with her mate, cheat on him? Am I so naive? Or are my moral standards too high? Oh, yes, I know this happens all the time…I just do not understand the psychology.
This loose behavior falls under the category of wh%&€. This, from the woman who passed judgment on Lauren?
I suppose this is the direction TPTB want the story to go. Will Cane end up with Lauren, afterall?

As far as Avery? Again, why are all PDs on soaps so inept? They all look like fools….And, whether Joe did it or not (I do not think he did), Neanderthal Dylan does not have the right to hold Joe hostage. What does Paul do? Keeps a blind eye. I would consider that police corruption. Watch out citizens of Genoa City, the real Sasquatch is amongst you!!
This is how they treat rape? Obviously someone raped Avery….look elsewhere, not just Joe…especially if forensics is refutable. Yes, this inability to put two and two together is leading Avery to shoot Joe….will she kill Joe and run off into oblivion? Will this be her exit?

Oh CeeCee, thank you! I was glad I wasnt the only one that noticed Lilly mounting Joe like a long legged ape like creature! It was gross! Some men cheat because they only see women as objects. They get bored. They get drunk and have to stick their chests out and exhume their dominance! As for women, maybe someone can explain that better than I, ie, a woman. I have been single for a while. I’m not a player. I will not get into a relationship until it feels like love. I want to trust who I am with, period. If this is possible, sign me up!

Dearest Timmm.
I have known my husband practically all my life. I was only sixteen when my father finally allowed us to go to a movie. He was twenty, but my parents and his were long-time friends, otherwise, my dad would have never approved.
He was my first and only boyfriend. We have been married seven years; together for thirteen. There has never been any cheating. I do not live in a sheltered world, thus I cannot say my future will be hunky-dory. So far so good. But, I can guarantee that if my husband ever cheated on me? I will not tolerate it….no excuses. It would be an automatic divorce.
So, Timmm. It depends on the woman and your love for each other. I do believe in destiny. If it’s meant to be, it will happen. We cannot base our private life on soaps, albeit they mostly mimic life. I think the writers should be a little more mindful, though….the idea that teens and young adults do not watch soaps is a fallacy. I have nieces, and a seventeen year old sister…they love soaps. My son, who is six, watches with me, and constantly asks me questions about what’s going on…. But, this is what they see…lying and cheating.
I am like you, in that, I cannot even think of doing it with another man. I am so into my husband, it’s scary. Of course, I admire hot guys ( I have one myself) but who does not admire beauty….like a piece of art, yes? LOL. it’s ok to look, I say.
So, for what it’s worth, Timmm. You will meet the woman of your dreams. She’s out there, I promise. Sadly, I’m already taken.LOL.

Tim and Cee Cee, I did see Lily as the aggressor too.
And honestly, she has been acting like the shrew who could never be tamed since Cane married her.
Cane GETS to be angry after Lily’s constant scrutiny of his actions. I do not feel he would have ever kissed Lauren in the park had Lily not gone off on the both of them in public when neither one of them had done anything wrong. It was a case of self fulfilling prophesy.

I’m not a fan of Lily’s but if I had to guess based on what we’ve watched so far, I would say, she is lonely. I wouldn’t call her a whore. I would say she was irresponsible, disrespectful of her husband, children, and herself. Women, just like men, make certain choices and sometimes they make bad choices. Men get away with “being men” and women get branded whores. Lily had been through a lot and had her fairy tale ending even after Cane lied about his mob connections and continually put her and their children in harm’s way. Lily watched her father battle alcoholism, learned that she was the biological child of her uncle Malcolm, not of her beloved Neil, and struggled with trust in her own marriage. Then she watched as an unknown person, who then was revealed to be Hilary, tried to ruin her family through posts on GC Buzz (granted, that storyline was super lame). Then she had to accept that that woman married her father, and then that her beloved brother broke their father’s heart by having an affair with Hilary. And that her husband, whom she queried about it always, knew all along and lied by omission. She has no friends, no mother figure, two kids she never sees…look, none of this absolves her of cheating on Cane. But I think calling her a whore is a bit harsh. That’s all.

Lucia, yes, Lily does seem to be lonely.
I just reread this thread and I did not see where anyone called her a “whore.” I don’t care for that type of language and I honestly don’t think Lily has been very prolific with her sexual escapades.
I did say that she had been acting like a shrew.
As far as Cane being so unforgiving? Well, he’s only known for two hot minutes–the man needs time. Studies show that men have a lot more trouble overcoming their spouse’s infidelity than their female counterparts do. Men are more prone to dwell on the visual aspects of extramarital tryst and look at it as a reflection of their own, ahem, shortcomings (word play not intended).
Moreover, Cane is an Aussie! They tend to be a little macho.

@Harry.
I was the one to call Lily a whore, Harry. Lucia read it correctly. I am sorry if the language offends you. I could have used a more delicate word, but the meaning/intention would be the same. I need not be berated by Lucia, I am not a child. I called it as I saw it. It is a good thing we live in this century, isn’t it, Harry? There was a time women were stoned for having committed adultery. We came a long way, baby!
I would like to point out that I was speaking from my point of view having very antiquated ideals. A thief will be a thief no matter the dollar amount of the theft.
This is how I see women who step out, especially women with with children. The same applies to men. I see no difference. Whether Cane had lust on his mind, he did not sleep with Lauren. This is not a game here ….beat him to the punch? Really? There is a vast difference between a lustful kiss than having sex. Lily is not so pure of mind or heart as everyone seems to think. Have we all forgotten Tyler? She hit the roof about the kiss between Cane and Lauren, rightly so,…..but, what excuse did she have for kissing Tyler?
Lily started pretty young….her affair with Kevin, remember that? He gave her an STD. But, TPTB want us to forget that.
I do not like either of these characters. I used to love Lily, but the writers do not do her justice.
She barely knew Joe. And, he is a friend of Cane’s. She acted irresponsibly…she, being a mother…disgusto!!. I do not care how many men women sleep with…just don’t lose your integrity and dignity by cheating on your spouse. And, to be fair, I have no respect for men who do the same thing.
I am sorry you and Lucia feel this way, but I have described Lily as I see her. Soon enough she will step into Lauren’s trashy shoes. Just my opinion.

When did Cane try to make it right? Only ONE day last week and one day this week thanks to Pratt! He, along with Lauren, belittled Lily for over a month, dismissed her, told her to “get over it” and then presto! Pratt reintroduced the REAL Cane for a couple of days! Not buying it nor am I buying his Baby it wasn’t me act! He lies repeatedly about an old woman he kissed, then kissed Lily the woman he supposedly loves, shows no remorse and doesn’t tell her–very immature for a middle age man! And THEN when confronted with footage of the woman going into his hotel room, the woman who would hump a rock, he gets mad because his wife, per his history, recent and past, doesn’t BELIEVE him? Is he insane? Thank God viewers are not! Cane started it and based upon everything he has done to Lily, the ONS she was woman enough to ADMIT to was nothing considering everything he has done and lied about! He loves Lily? PROVE IT and man up, mature–STOP LYING CANE; FOCUS ON YOUR WIFE! All problems in LANE’s marriage lead back to Cane….and his lies! He should crawl over cut glass to get Lily to trust him.

One more thing; Cane is NOT the victim; Lily is, especially in view of his emotional affair and when he was so cruel he tried to drive her crazy. Lily has forgiven time and time again. Question is can Cane AND own his part in the breakdown of LANE’s marriage this time starting with repeatedly lying about her brother and her step mother for months, despite the fact he promised and Lily begged? His 19 year old child bride has grown up; it is way past time for him to do the same!

Wouldn’t it be great if Daniel came back? Lily was such a different girl with him. She has become an insecure shrew. I do blame Cane for that. However, it does not excuse her cheating. And, Joe definitely crossed the line. With friends like that…….well, you know the rest.

Yeah, it would be great..If Lauren just have to have some guy, then she can have him…

You are right; Lily was a different GIRL, with GIRL being the word! Teenage marriages do not work, especially when his mother kills her mother. Let it go! Daniel belongs with another guy, Kevin maybe? Why do you people keep trying to downgrade Lily back to teen status? She is a grown woman, with two children; a cancer survivor, a romantic lead! Deal with it; if you think Daniel R is so great, put him with Chelsea.

@ Bettina.
I beg you not to refer to me as ‘you people’. I find that very disrespectful. Are you not taking this a bit far into space? It’s a soap. And, this is a site where we exchange thoughts and opinions. I keep repeating the same chant. If you cannot handle the opinions and critiques, then , you get over it!
You have picked the wrong person with whom to spar. As I often say, I bite.
I was speaking in the abstract when mentioning Daniel. He is not on the show anymore, remember? And, if you want to get down to the nitty-gritty, no one knows what happened to Dru. That door was left open. Exactly what are you inferring when you say Daniel should be coupled with Kevin? Measure your words. Sometimes words are too heavy!!
So, Lily’s marriage is an adult one, right? Why doesn’t she act like one? She cheated on her husband. Even teens know the meaning of fidelity.
Please, next time you want to voice an opinion, do it with some respect.
Read Timmm’s post, below. It sums it all up nicely for you. Because she is older and a mother, Lily should not have acted as mindlessly allowing her dignity to be compromised.

Lilly WAS the victim. Now that she cheated she is no better because she is a mother and her actions could some day be a reflection on her children.

What CeeCee said, Really, Bettina, your comment was odd, slightly rude, and stuck an incongruous note with what was stated.
How is wishing Danial back a wish to send Lily back to adolescent land? Danial was a great character. Also, your odd comment that he should be coupled with Kevin is really out of line. Honestly, we want Danial back because he was a great character played by a pretty terrific actor. I also want Danial back to be possibly romantically linked up with another great character, Mariah.

cant believe im actually going to give kudo s to christel for carrying the scene but lily s been on fire lately. Daniel was pretty flat and overall the scene was anticlimatic and not really dramatic.
im tired of lily and co. treating the gcac likes its there personal living room to air their dirty laundry. Each time lily s admitted to ‘wanting to get drunk’ but instead screwing joe, i cringe a lil because it proves the writings amateur with respect to lily knowing better since her fathers a recovering alcholic and as well living through a affair that divided a family. ( hilary/ devon)
Pratt again missed the mark in which it wouldve been much more intresting if the affair secret dragged on and somehow hilary uncovered it
overall the situation is a step up from the boring lily , cane wedded bliss shit but im really still hoping for the sexy and gorgeous redaric williams to return as tyler for lily, i thought they were hot together!!

Damien….I do not follow your first sentence. Can you elaborate? Daniel was flat? Daniel is not on the show anymore. Did you mean Cane? If so, yup; I definitely agree with you. He has taken Lily’s youth from her….and, her spark.

The acting was decent and Lane needed some angst but I don’t want Lauren in the middle of this Lane mess. It still irritates me that Y&R used prostate cancer to break up Likey and turn Michael into a jerk to his beloved Lauren.

Lauren is in it, she’s kind of one of the problems…Whether you want her to be in it or not, she is….

Daniel Goddard and Christel Khalil did a fabulous job with those scenes..we need to see more of them..

That was just one scene. But, this couple was wrong from the beginning.
No, she should not have chested, but, if Joe is to remain on the show….I think he and a Lily makes a much more titillating couple than Lane.

They will get back together there is no one else to hook them up with.
two months of love gone wrong drama and they will be back together..

I don’t care for either one of these two people but a happy couple don’t make it on a soap so I guess he’ll end up with Lauren, but what happens when Michael is completely better and his mojo is working again? Good grief he’ll want her back. I do hope after all the dirt she through at Hilary & Devon they throw it back at her.

I agree with you, Nikki, of course.
But, the difference between Lily’s and Hilary’s peccadillo Is the fact that Hilary cheated on her husband with her husband’s “son”…..that’s a REAL BIGGIE, I think, no?

I totally agree but I don’t think anyone in Genoa City is squeaky clean. I can’t think of anyone who hasn’t had an affair. If I recall correctly didn’t Hilary start to fall for Devon before she married Neil & Devon didn’t want to be Neil’s best man because he was already in love with her. I don’t think either one of them should be let off the hook but look around at the rest of them.

Hillary and Devon deserved everything they got and more…And Hillary deserved to be slapped into the next century for drugging Lily’s husband and trying to ruin the life of someone she never even knew existed…and until that witch apologizes to Lily for the crap she did, she deserves whatever comes her way and more…

Hillary and Devon should be the last ones to throw stones at anyone, esp Hillary, sleeping with father and son at the same time, sleeping with the DA to get said husband off of a charge of something, and Devon should be slapped for even thinking of being with that woman again…

It has been thought by some viewers I know that Pratt might do a serial rapist storyline and have Michael be found out to be the culprit? With Pratt anything is possible he likes to shock that’s for sure.

Slapped into the next century! No I don’t believe in being abusive. You also must have missed an episode Hilary has already apologized to Lily for what she did to Cane as well as her dad.

I agree with you to the letter, Barbara!!!!

ohh want to say–

JOE IS INNOCENT !!
and Pratt will make sure poor Joe has his revenge ..

It could get really nasty bad! (goodie! .. 😉

Nikki… Hillary has never apologized to Lily, please direct me to where she did..she apologized to everyone except Lily….

ohh geez !

Sharon to Avery.. ”I was raped too!
Christine to Avery.. ”I was raped too!

They should throw Avery in a room with all the raped women of Y&R.. a counseling thing..
Now, that would be interesting..

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?

The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
