General Hospital
Richard Steinmetz OUT at General Hospital!

Looks like General Hospital altered some of its planned story course with the news out in this week’s Soap Opera Digest (on newsstands now) that Richard Steinmetz (Joe Jr.) has been let-go at the ABC soap and it’s storyline-dictated!
Steinmetz told SOD, “I’ve known for a little while. Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital) told me that with the exit of Jason, they’re going in a different direction. Him leaving meant that they had to change some things around and I taped my last scenes a few weeks ago. I was pretty sad! I really did enjoy working there. A lot of people told me they were unhappy I was leaving, like Erik Valdez (Trey), my on-screen son, and Kelly Sullivan (Kate/Connie). It doesn’t change anything, but it makes me feel good. ”
The actor went on to say that his one regret was, “That I didn’t get to work with the character of Connie. What a friggin’ shame, man. Connie and Joe would have lit it up! It would have been a blast.”
So soapers, what do you think will go down that sets up Steinmetz’ exit? Are you sad to see Richard and Joe Jr. go? Let us know!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.

So sad, so much more story to tell, the Jerry Jacks ties? the money transfer? and what about the Tracey, Luke, Joe Jr. triangle? What waste of great story. Jason had nothing to do with this storyline of Connie/Kate Sonny Joe Jr. and Trey; very sad to rush so much for one character non related to aformetoned cast. To bad another bunder for GH Head writer and EP………..please don’t end our soap bcause of continued bad judgement calls and mistakes.
Even though Joe Jr. was a villain, he was also great to watch. RS really made him enjoyable to watch, especially since he had great chemistry with Jane Elliott. I hope GH leaves a door open so maybe one day he will return.
I agree he had good chemistry with Jane, but his role seemed like a dead end. GH seems to be very positively heading back to the basics of a good soap, drama tied in with love and relationships and the unexpected twists and turns, without people running around with guns and wanting to kill others. There’s already too much of that on prime time and real life.
I’m sick of the Joe Jr. storyline, so I don’t mind that he’s leaving. He’s a good actor, don’t get me wrong. The storyline just did nothing for me, and I’m glad they’re apparently moving on.
YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS OF JOE BECAUSE YOU WISH YOU WERE AS FAMOUS AND GOOD LOOKING AS HE IS.IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE PLOTS THEY PUT ON TRY CHANGING THE CHANNEL.
Really sad about this. Anthony Z and Joe Scully Jr are the ONLY mobsters on this show i’ve ever liked. Steinmetz is wonderful. I hate seeming him go 🙁 Plus, “Joseph” and Tracy have great chemistry!!
i’m sad too, i l iked the actor from roles he did years ago on other abc/d soaps!!he could have done lots more!! i don’t undestand why he’s being let go when he had nothing to do with jason after the initital contact.dumb abc/d decisions again!
Richard was a wonderful addition to GH. So sorry to see they let him go.
A GH fan for 37 years.
Bummer! He’s a great actor and I loved him with JE. Not sure how Jason leaving would change the story line for Joe Jr…
I kind of saw this coming, with the direction his character has been headed. I also enjoyed Joe Jr. with Tracey, but with this news now revealed only a couple of days prior to Steve Burton’s last air day, I am sure Joe Jr. will be involved in Jason’s exit. I have not yet watched Wednesday or Thursday’s shows, but maybe Joe Jr. will “kill” Jason following Duke’s command (his body will go missing in grand soap opera fashion – which was not how I wanted Steve Burton to leave but that is just me), and Joe will go down for his disappearance (possible murder). I am sorry to see both Jason and Joe Jr. go. Steve Burton has been a favorite of mine from the day he started, and Joe Jr. really grew on me. I enjoyed his interaction with Tracey and his love for his son and vice versa. Good Luck to Richard Steinmetz, I hope another soap picks him up.
That’s what I fear too, Elhu. That he will kill Jason, while doing Lavery’s bidding.
I would rather see Joe Jr. survive all this than Lavery. 🙁 Poor Tracy… she can’t catch a break. 🙂
Good luck RS… enjoyed your performances a lot.
I agree elhu i did see todays episode jason being killed by joe jr or duke lavery
i did like joe with tracy, and like anna with luke
as far as i am concerned they can get rid of duke lavery, how could he kill
jason? poor storyline having our hero jason being killed by duke but i am sure
joe jr will take the fall
get rid of duke lavery asap, i will never like him anymore and wish they would
he had never returned, you cannot be gone 20 yrs and come back and think
the veiwers will love you again. if he did kill jason, i hope he is written out
the sooner the better, hate he returned at all.
I think they could have used him a lil longer. I think there could have been more story told to use him in.
I agree with Richard. So now since he has left, would it be so hard for Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini to bring back haracters we miss, know and love like Bobbie Spencer,Morgan Corinthos and Jasper Jacks?
I think the character was written into a corner. The actor was perfectly fine, but the character’s throughline was that he wanted everything Sonny has. To that end, he used his own son and was going to murder a young woman. How despicable! This is one character I won’t care about seeing meet his Maker. Another benefit I see is that Tracy will be spared getting involved with another mobster.
Thanks Rodd…I agree completely. I’m always glad to see despicable characters go. There are enough on the show as it is.
I’m ready for Duke/Ian to go too since it appears that he is not the “long lost love” that he’s trying to convince Anna he is.
I think they needed to play this thing out with Kate/Connie. It could have been a really good story.
OK so now since Steve decides to leave, it gives them the excuse to write off characters that had nothing to do with the person leaving, Not understanding that. Its like RC saying he wrote Elizabeth that way because of Steve Burton decided to go. So what are they punishing actors for SBu leaving. Or is it that they truly can’t write for General Hospital’s characters and pimping one and forcing others characters to do the same. Writing most of the characters not to their characters traits is kind of not writing its lazy hack work. Carly has been written as some naive chick who has no street smarts and never been around men in the mob. So she buys into everything Johnny says. Why are they continuing to dumb down the characters on the show and making no sense for the S/L’s they are forcing. But thats my opinion. the Joe Jr story could have went to many directions where they just dropped stories for no reason. or delaying stories to keep focus on another worthless character on the show. sad really but ABC doesn’t care about quality they only cares about quantity of cheap acting trying to pass it off as something amazing. Stop backburning great cast for no talent hacks. Where is Patrick, Epiphany, Tracy is poorly used on the show. we see Kelly Sullivan when ever its not the, Baby s/l show. Where is Elizabeth. Hell she hasn’t been on in weeks. Where is Sonny who shows up again once or twice a week.
RC and FV are once again doing the same thing the Frons era did. Forced crap stories and expected everyone to watch.
What have said/writes is total malarkey ..
Jason i completely agree, Ron has taken the character Carly and turned her into a naive fool. First with Johnny and now wirh Todd. I honestly cannot watch anymore. Now he has her defending Todd to Sam. He ha everyone fooled by Todd. Then she’s going to defend him again.
This is the same HeadWriter who said he knows the General Hospital Characters very well. Ok now since he claims to know Carly the character, why make her a fool to know end? It’s very shameful for me to watch Laura Wright play this role anymore. I know it’s a job but does she also wonder why Carly has been dumbed down to that extent? Carly has great instincts, she’s not that naive.
They had her divorce Jax for Johnny and then they had Johnny marry Connie, so what was the point? Oh wait! Todd needs a favor, let’s stroke our pet’s ego smh.
I hope Carly gets to best Todd toa pulp once the truth comes out. If Tea’ could whoop him with a shovel then am sure one more round of todd being beated up by a woman won’t be anything new
Look at what was done to Johnny. Johnny would NEVER kill a child and hide the fact. Johnny loves kids. I remember seeing him with Morgan and it was so sweet. the way he stepped up and helped Michael realize he was making a huge mistake trying to join the mob. The way he was with Josslyn was precious.
Honestly speaking am not saying this in a bad way but i’d rather see Brandon Barash fair well in either primetime or another Soap Opera but primetime would be my biggest wish for him. He is a talented guy who does not need to have his character hacked like this.
The character Sam had be baffled too. She would not lean on John McBain because she was having Jason isues. To the extend of almost sleeping with him? In her mother’s house with a bottle of whiskey. Ric/Sam/Jason/Liz drama redux anyone??
Forget Liz, her job is pretty much done. It looks like if Jason ain’t around there is nothing for her to do. Now Jason is not around anymore am sure they will find a temporary guy to fill the space because oh well Liz has nothing better to do than hang with men and if she ain’t doing that, then she’s goig to sing the Jake song for pity. I was so bummed that they used Jake to get Liz pity after she tampered with Sam’s baby’s DNA tets. That was heinous of the writers to do.
Infact that was Liz’s storyline. Let me ask this, doesn’t ELIZABETH WEBBER have two CHILDREN? Oh wait, she’s might sit around pining for Lucky and with any hope at all he will receive her letter of pleas.
This whole Kate/Connie stuff should just come to an end. I cannot take Sonny’s world anymore. Resources were wasted on another non-Sonny wedding to Kate and for what? Only to pull out one of those OLTL wedding shenanigans? How the heck does a HeadWriter fail to respect mental illness. This D.I.D story is a joke.sonny acting like he’ll die without Kate? Are you freaking kidding me?
One year ago Brenda was the love of his life and now it’s Kate? forgive me if my memory serves me right i thought Connie was the love of his life at one point, oh then it was Olivia before that, Lily was passed up for the title, then Carly became the love of his life. I give up.
And am also not happy that A kid like Morgan would be able to have a storyline where Sonny to him is the bane of existence. Nope it has to be about Sonny’s heart being on the line once again.
Once again Johnny was put in the position to use a mental illness to his advantage. I do’t care if anyone thinks that Johnny was in no position to say NO to Connie, it was as easy as ABC to have Johnny exposedfor his crimes. that would also put Johnny in the position to expose Todd too. But no no no we have to sit through the secret keepers pact. WTH?
Alexis has nothing better to do than play srip pool with Shawn, and now Mac and Felicia are going to join them? Is this right? Whatever happened to giving alexis anything solid on her own? Like a STORYLINE “Who is Sam’s father?”
If the point of bringing on Todd Manning was not to have him man up and grow up but to have him wreak more havoc in people’s lives, then ‘d rather he go back to Llanview. I can’t even onvest in the character now.
This is no General Life To Live with the OLTL characters in charge, forget the GH characters that were found in place.
I agree with many points you made like the DID story is a mess Connie is the original personality and Kate is the alter. Sonny and Kate are boring. I wish Sonny would have joined Jason in leaving GH. Both of these characters are burnt out with the s/ls. However I am enjoying Carly being made into a chump. The character has been disgusting from the moment she came to town and I hope the rumours are true that AJ is on his way back and going to give Sonny and Carly Hell! I’ve been waiting A LONG time for that. Johnny a liked till they destroyed his character speaking of which I am not to happy that ReRon is rewriting Duke’s character sometimes RC’s ego stomps all over the intelligence of the fans I refuse to believe Duke has become this evil no matter how RC spins it. Kelly/Sam imo can not act and that was made painfully clear during the Baby switch reveal she needs to take lessens from Florencia/Tea. Rebecca/Elizabeth can act but could care less for the character.Lastly Todd will always be Todd especially if Roger is playing him. Je is a stickler about certain aspects of his character, imo. BTW I really liked RS/Joe jr he had awesome chemistry with Tracy ans imo better actor then MB/Sonny more believeable as a mobster but I love the The fact that is General Life to live at one Hospital then Gerneral Mob.
Josephine, you hit the nails on the head with this! i usually sing RC/FV’s praises but they need to balance the freaking stories and show characters that haven’t had quality airtime since Feb/March 2012.
i hate the way RC and FC killed jason off, he was the hero of the show
and should have been written off doing some heroic deed to save some pc character, even my husband who watche with me from time to time said it was
a shame the way they ended his storyline. it could have been written totally different
and I hope GH does not suffer due to their stupidity
I been watching GH since 1980. Do not approve of thier choices they made.Jason were really the only reason I watch GH …. .Jason & Sam were like Laura & Luke.I also like Sonny & Carli. Luke is my Baby 2.No more GH 4 me.They should’ve left OLTL on.Love Todd & John being on GH.Who ever writing these scripts they need 2 get my mann Jason Back or I’m done GH….smh
SO Happy to hear this news!!! I find his character annoying and his acting grating. I wish Trey *& Christina (with her downward frown plastered on her face) would leave with him and I hate that they are affiliated with Duke! That whole story is a snoozefest. Good riddance.
i hate duke lavery period after todays show friday with jason being killed by
him or joe jr. they should have shown his character more respect than have
him shot in the back by those 2 losers. shame on you GH and ABC for letting
the storyline even be put on air. I hope GH does not suffer and lose more viewers because jason should have been sent off in a blaze of glory for all the
joy he has given us for appx 22 yrs . shame , shame shame!!!
but i love maurice benard andwill continue to watch and hope he seeks revenge
for jason demise.
that scene was like straight out of a ganster movie. I was SO sad and I’m not even a big Jason fan .. although I have loved the last several weeks with him supporting Sam. Shot in the back, really GH??? Boo!! I know they had to do something fast since Steve was leaving but surely they could have come up with something else. I can’t remember if Duke was this bad when he came on GH. I’ll have to brush up on my history. I remember the character but don’t recall him being so vile.
I HEAR THAT THEY ARE BRING JOE BACK. TURN YOUR TV OFF IF YOU DO NOT LIKE HIM.I AM SURE THE STATION WILL HAVE ENOUGH VIEWERS WATCHING THAT IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOU THINK. YOU HAVE SOME NERVE MAKING FUN OF KRISTINA’S FACE.WHAT ARE YOU SOME BEAUTY QUEEN? I DON’T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a disappointment. I thought he was sexy as hell with Tracy & she needs a man!! So much potential here, with Trey, Tracy, Connie/Kate, Sonny, on & on. I am surprised & not happy about it. Really grew to like this character & didn’t he play on Loving way back??? I thought he looked somewhat familiar then when I heard his real name . . .
Yes he did Gloria! He was Jeff Hartman on Loving (88-89) and Martin Fitzgerald on Passions! He also had many other roles people may remember: Monk, CSI, Heroes, Crossing Jordan, Crazy Beautiful, Silk Stalkings, Melrose Place…
yes he was i think that was it !
Glad to see him go. Not a fan of thestoryline also . Ready for Todd to show up somewhere now.
I meant Victor! Or maybe Jessica or Vicki to help out Kate. Ready for One Life in Port Charles!
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE STORYLINE. DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW.
Wow.. Robin.. you are cranky and opinionated about my opinions… Maybe a fast forward thru his storyline. … Hop you have a blessed day!
IF YOU POST A COMMENT PEOPLE CAN REPLY.IF THAT IS A PROBLEM I SUGGEST YOU DO NOT WRITE A COMMENT IF YOU TAKE IT SO PERSONAL IF PEOPLE DO NOT AGREE WITH YOU.CALM DOWN TSUDS!!!!!!
JOE IS A GREAT ACTOR AND VERY TALENTED. IF YOU DON’T LIKE HIM CHANGE THE CHANNEL.I HOPE THEY WRITE OFF TODD I CAN’T STAND HIM.
I HOPE THEY BRING BACK JOE. I REALLY ENJOY WATCHING HIM.CHANGE THE CHANNEL IF YOU DO NOT LIKE HIM. JOE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really like Richard Steinmetz as Joe Scully and am very disappointed to see him leave GH. I know he was supposed to be a “mobster” but until he tried to kill Kristina he had a real softness about him in his scenes with Tracy. Poor Tracy – seems like the writers never let her keep her man. They took Luke away – now they take Scully away. Come on, writers, change that storyline back to keep Richard Steinmetz and let’s see some more sparks fly between Tracy and him!!!!! They make a fine looking couple and had a hell of a lot of fun together, brightening things up for us fans in the dark moments, like when Jerry poisoned Pt Charles water!!!!!!
I was hoping the story line would continue for a while with him and Sonny at each others throats.I could see him with Connie/Kate and Sonny steaming. To bad Jason is being killed off.To bad it isn’t Joe Jr.presumed dead and not Jason.I would have loved to see Jason and Sam worrying over their son along with Monica.I hear rumors that Allan is coming back I hope it is true.I loved him and Monica together always fighting.I like General Hospital as it is today and the past.
Sad to see him leave but I hope the door is left open for a return in the future.I always hate to see great characters move on but it has to be that way for new characters to be added.I’m sure these awesome writers have something big in store for us–can anyone say the ” return of Laura(Genie Francis)”
yes please may this be the reason!!!
I did not like the storyline all that well but as an actor he is very good at being the bad guy “villian”. There were so many different directions they could have went with this character. He is a great actor maybe they can make him an evil twin and have the good one show up for redemption. He worked well tith Jane Elliott. I want to wish him good luck in whatever he chooses to do in real life.
I liked Joe Jr and Tracy together…they can oust that Duke Lavery guy, never liked him. If they keep him and now bring on that no talent Sean to replace Jason, GH willl be off my radar…and after watching over 40 years…
THANK GOODNESS!!!! This is the best news to come out of this series in the longest time!
I DON’T SEE GH BEING KICKED OFF BUT I SEE ATWT WAS AXED.
WTF is your problem!? Are you on something or just out to be as rude as possible? No class?
ARE YOU A PANSY FIGHTING WITH A WOMEN. TRY WATCHING SPORTS LIKE REAL MEN.I AM REALLY IMPRESSED YOU WATCH SOAP OPERAS. DO YOU WORK THAT YOU HAVE TIME TO WRITE STUPID COMMENTS? GO PUT YOUR MAXI PAD ON.GO TALK TO YOUR MAMA LIKE THAT.I BET YOU WOULD NOT SPEAK TO A MAN LIKE THAT BECAUSE YOUR TEETH WOULD BE MISSING.YOU ARE REAL TOUGH WITH YOUR MOUTH BEHIND YOUR COMPUTER.GO HAVE YOUR HEAD CHECKED BECAUSE YOU ARE LOSING LOTS OF SCREWS.
I am sad ,hes a excellent actor. They could have done so much,
agreed!! so much could have ben done with connie/kate and trey and he was an enemy of sonny’s so i liked that a lot,now what will sonny do? wAtch paint dry or see what connie /kate does? sOunds like soNny has no story line comung up with steve leaving too! WTF?/
It is sad he leaving the show wanted to him and Tracy get together. Look like they had something going there
I liked the way Tracy got her groove back when she was with Joseph..
Tracy came alive again, if even for a shot time..
I will miss Joe and more-so him with Tracy..
All the soaps are letting some actors go, so not surprised, it has always been that way- here today gone tomorrow….
yes sparks fly when they are together !
Yay! Glad he’s leaving. Trying to kill off Kristina was the character’s undoing. You knew that Sonny would exact his revenge any day now. Maybe that’s how he’ll go out. I am
so disappointed that Steve is leaving, although I wish him well with his future endeavors. It will be one sad episode to see him killed off just after he and Sam are finally at peace.
TAKE A CHILL PILL IT IS ONLY ACTING.
Like everyone else here, I was merely voicing my opinion about a fictional show that many of us watch and enjoy. We don’t always like the path the storylines take, and we have a right to comment. Attacking a person for having an opinion is childish.
WOW WHAT A MOODY PERSON.I WAS REPLYING TO YOUR COMMENT IF YOU DON’T LIKE THAT THEN DO NOT WRITE A POST.IF I DO NOT AGREE THAT IS MY BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. I thought this was a forum where people could post messages about General Hospital. That’s what I did. I didn’t think this was a forum that invited and tolerated verbal attacks on people who are sharing opinions. Other people on this site have posted messages far more “inflammatory” than my initial comment, and I haven’t seen their comments met with vitriolic responses — in CAPS — no less. It’s obvious that certain participants are here for no other reason than to criticize the author, rather than the subject matter.
YOU MUST NOT WATCH GH THAT OFTEN BECAUSE YOU WOULD KNOW THAT SONNY DID NOT KILL JOE.DUKE LAVERY SHOT HIM I GUESS YOU SHOULD GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU WRITE A COMMENT AND LOOK FOOLISH.YOU ARE NO FAN IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THE SHOW.PAY ATTENTION NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Umm…..for your information, I first posted my message when it was first announced here that the actor playing Joe Scully, Jr., was leaving the show. At that time, no one knew it would be Duke Lavery who would shoot him. I said “maybe Sonny” would be the one to take him out. Look at the date this article about Steinmetz was first published.
IF YOU DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE REPLYING THEN DO NOT WRITE A POST.I SEE ALL YOU DO IS ARGUE WITH PEOPLE DO YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME? GO WATCH GH IF YOU ARE BORED AND HOPEFULLY YOU WILL KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON.
Gina, Pat, or whatever name you’re going by today, you might want to consider reviewing rules of etiquette for posting on any type of forum. Writing in all caps is the equivalent of “yelling” at someone. I haven’t argued. I’ve merely clarified the content of my original message. I’m not bored at all, and I will watch GH when I am ready to and not because you told to me to. People are entitled to their opinions — it’s the reason why we have these forums — to share opinions about a show we all enjoy. Please don’t attack people for having an opinion. If you want to argue, then argue about the show … Don’t presume to know what’s going on in the lives of people who post here. I’m a writer, so this is not boredom. It’s what I do, and I enjoy it. Why don’t you keep to yourself and I will continue to post with friendly people who like to share their views about General Hospital, rather than dealing with disturbers like you. Have a good night! I am 🙂
Wow: You really have nothing to do then argue. You really are taking this whole posting serious. Chill out lady life is to short to be so mean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sorry to hear this!! Even though he was bad, I found him very appealing & loved the way he talked!! I think they could have done a lot with his character!!
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU MARGARET.YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY WITH YOUR COMMENTS.HE IS GOOD LOOKING AND I LOVE HIS VOICE. I HOPE HE APPEARS ON ANOTHER SHOW REALLY SOON.
Ah, I enjoyed Richard and his Chicago accent, hazel eyes, and intense acting. Sorry to see him leave the show, but as someone pointed out, they wrote him into a corner. I’m still not sure how he wound up being a reality show producer, antiques dealer, former mobster, and henchman for both Jerry Jacks & Duke Lavery. A bit much for one character. Tracy and Joe had good chemistry, though I find it interesting Richard didn’t mention Jane as someone who was sad he was leaving. I sometimes got the vibe in their scenes that they didn’t necessarily have a comfort level working with each other, which is perhaps why he mentioned wanting to work more with Kelly Sullivan. I do hope to see Richard in other work in TV or the movies, or have him come back as a different character on GH.
Glad to see Joe Jr leaving. Richard did a great job and he is talented. Agree with some that would like to see Trey and Christina go with him. I would actually add Connie to the car that would take them all out of Port Chuck. I know Kelly is probably a great person but… I am so tired of the Connie storyline… and I loved the Vicki DID storylines.
I agree I hate the Kate/Connie mess. And I think Kelly sullivan and Lindsey Morgan are lousy actors. I loved the viki DID story because it was acte by the uber talented Erica Slezak. And the story was well written. This junk is carlavati’s weak attempt to carry that legacy to Gh and its an epic fail!

YOU WISH YOU WERE AN ACTRESS AND MADE THE MONEY THEY MAKE. DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY WITH THE STORYLINES.
So sorry to see RS go. He was a great addition to the show, especially for Tracy. Loved his character. Wish they could have come up with a different exit for SB if it meant this character had to leave.
I thought his character from the start was going to be tough to keep around. They wrote him with almost no way to redeem the bad choices he makes. The actor did wonderfully with the material given to him and his chemistry with Tracy was a pleasant surprise. I think they could have done more story wise, but hopefully they left the door open for a return if it makes sense down the line.
Best wishes Richard!
I hate to see this sexy man leave the show. I liked the actor a lot. But I can appreciate the minimizing of crime/mob storylines. GH needs to return to families, legacy characters, its histories, and well… the hospital. I would like to see more humanity in the mix of plots.
Not happy with this at all! Joe Scully meant we go to see Tracy Q! Their romance was so sweet! Sux!
Now that all the but kissing is over time for some realism. I’m so tired of Valentini and his cheap casting. Steinmetz was from 2 failed skaps passions and loving. I guess that explains his complete ineptness at acting. Secondly when will the Gh brass ever get tired of beating sonnys story to death. I’m tired of sonny past enemies and his lame children. The corinthos legacy needs to end on Gh.
And finally seeing Steinmetz, Eric Valdez and Lindsey Morgan all on one show in scenes together is like watching a multiple car train wreck. They are all horrible actors acting out a lack luster story. This is the garbage that u people are praising Cartini for? Tragic! Ive watched Gh for 42 yrs now. I’ve never seen such poor quality. Casey the alien was better than this mess. At least Bradley lockerman could act. No wonder I’m back to fast forwarding the majority of gh if i watch at all. Smh.
i
TURN YOUR TV SET OFF THEY WILL NOT MISS YOU NOT WATCHING. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER VIEWERS THAT LOVE THE SHOW.
Certainly with richly dimensional, unique characters such as Tracy, Todd, Connie/Kate, Heather, etc. there could have been room for Joe Scully to continue his revenge antics. His burgeoning romance with Tracy was a sizzler, the potential for fireworks with Connie was a tempting thought, convoluted cross-currents with Todd (who is always and forever aligning himself with untrustworthy personalities that play well off his own pathologies), etc…….Additionally, I have to add that I disagree with “dg” re. the poor quality of the current GH storyline/actors. GH delivers the goods in terms of balancing action with emotion, is truly character driven for the first time in years, and has distinct, engaging personalities that this viewer is eager to follow and invest concern with. Sorry to see Joe go but overall GH is definitely evolving creatively.
Thank goodness! The actor could not act on Passions and his acting was the same on GH. Joe Jr was not sexy. He was a mumbling murderous kidnapping rapist.
HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE HIM ON ANOTHER SHOW.HE IS ONE GOOD LOOKING MAN.YOU WISH YOU HAD HIS FAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t find Lindsey that bad however they definitely don’t give Kristina much of a focus in these stories all all. The focus is more on Joe, Trey, Kate, Duke than on her.
One less reason for me to watch. Oh well.
Glad Steve B is leaving, though. Can he take Kelly and Maurice and Laura with him?
I’m wondering if Richard was written out due to poor fan reaction. I read the message boards once in a while and noticed his character was polarizing. People either loved him with Tracy or hated Joe Scully with a passion. I also think people are tired of rapist redemption on this soap and OLTL, where both Todd and Luke were made into “good” characters after raping main female characters on their soaps. There was also the potential that Connie/Kate was lying about being raped, but that also is not very politically correct if that turned out to be the case. I personally thought Steinmetz did a great job with the material and he is a talented actor. He reminds me of old-school actors and had a face that reminded me of the character actors in old movies and TV shows. Good luck to Mr. Steinmetz, maybe one of the other soaps will find a place for him.
Like the actor, hate the character so for that I am not too sad to see him leave. Next should be Trey. Awful, awful, awful. He is supposed to be 25 and acts like he is 14 ….my daddy made me do it…..whaa whaa.
DON’T WATCH THEY WILL NOT MISS YOU.IF YOUR DADDY SAID JUMP OFF THE ROOF WOULD YOU? MAYBE YOU WOULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am soooo going to miss Richard as Joe. Loved him with Tracy and he would have lit up the sky with Connie!!!!! When will the writers get Sonny is so overworked and played out. We need fresh exciting blood!!! Very disappointed Richard was written out! Sonny should have been sent to his Island for a couple of years!!!!
More than any thing… it was nice to have some one…. appealing… enough… for the women, ie: Tracy, Anna, Diane, Alexis… heck, even Kate…
I was gearing up, for the father/son reunion, with Kate. I was anxiously awaiting… Kate to come to her senes… the horrific way… Trey found out… who his mother was… ie: Connie….
GH… honestly…. romance… Adult drama…. PLEASE. thank you….
Noooooo! Really?? I ‘m kind of shocked. I really enjoyed watching him, he was alot of fun. I suppose in the last few weeks , with him kidnapping christina, and now with Jason…either he was going to take over where sonny left off…or killed off…I was never a fan of the mob storyline with sonny, but Richard gave it some new life, and funny storylines w/Tracy , Jane Elliott…Sad to see him go…Like him alot.. look forward to his next show….!
It’s too bad Richard was let go – he had unbelievable chemistry with Jane Elliot.
I was looking forward to the story unfolding surrounding Trey, but with Trey shooting his dad it has made it impossible to be public.
Lot’s of storyline potential wasted.
And this stuff with “evil” Duke needing Sonny’s money to run his empire?
As soon as they write in Edward’s death (RIP John Ingle) why don’t they have Duke go after the ELQ Princess and take her money.
Yes, I am unhappy to see Steinmetz leave GH. While I found the character he played to be poorly conceived and lacking in depth, I enjoyed the actor’s scenes with Jane as Tracy Quartermaine. They sizzled together which was a welcome change from the usual young couplings and the plodding/uninteresting pairings that have been rammed down viewer throats for years now. I’d like to see Steinmetz back, maybe as a detective or a cop out to take down Duke and company. Tracy deserves some happiness and Joe Jr. provided that for her in a way Luke could not.
I loved Richard Steinmetz!!! What a horrible decision to let Richard go!!! He worked wonders with the material. He is hot and sexy and has such intensity on the screen. FYI – Duke is no longer an “it” boy!!! Way too much botox and a really bad eye lift!! His face does not even move!!!
Letting Joe Sr. go for Duke was a really bad decision by RV/RC!!! I thought you guys were the dream team. Somebody was sleeping on the job the day Richard was was writtten out of the show!!!! What a loss of a hunk with screen appeal and who could act!!!! Was Maurice jealous???????
wonderful actor and character. sorry to see him go. but surely they can find a storyline for him. he has great chemistry with kate, tracey and john. jason had nothing to do with him. maybe they’ll be cutting out the mob storyline once jason is gone. but that would feel weird.
trey and christina are both awful, I hope they don’t stick around too much longer.
Hey Deam Team RV/RC !!!!
Put on you thinking caps and use the right side of your brains and FIND A WAY TO SAVE JOE SCULLY (RICHARD STEINMETZ)!!!!!!!! DON’T LOOSE THIS GUY!!! HE IS GREAT ON THE SCREEN!!!! HE HAS CHEMISTRY WITH EVERYONE!!!!
GH Should have kept him. I like the Chemistry between Tracy and Joe.
It is a shame because he was a ‘bad guy’ – but he had a lot of story left to tell – and how Jason leaving has anything thing to do with Scully, his son and kate/connie – I don’t get it. But I am glad he go to share some final scenes with Tracy and trey. We were just starting to like Scully!!!
I’m totally disappointed that Richard Steinmetz got let go. I was hoping to see something develop with Joe Jr and Tracy Quartermaine. This stinks.
it would of been a good story line if joe jr would of been around and connie hooking up with him and joe jr going along with it to get back at sonny
Tracy had awesome chemistry with Joe Jr. and it was exciting and fun to see her finally have some believable romance in a story line that ended all too soon. I would like to see him return, that maybe Tracy is hiding him. It would be wonderful to see their romance continue. Both are great actors. Very sad to see him killed off and without even a proper goodbye from Tracy. Please reconsider!!!
