What if Daytime Emmy winner, Robin Strasser, could return for a run on a daytime soap opera? Would you like to see her go Beyond the Gates for a role on the new CBS daytime drama series? Well, according to Strasser herself she would love the opportunity.

Strasser who played Dorian Lord on One Life to Live on and off from 1979-1987, 1993-2000, 2003-2011 and again in the reboot of the series in 2013 and was last seen as Vivian Alamain on Days of our Lives in 2019, took to X when a fan asked her thoughts on joining the cast of General Hospital. Previously, Strasser worked with executive producer, Frank Valentini, when he was at OLTL.

The comment expressed to Strasser, and also to Valentini said, “You need to be on ‘General’ as a long lost Cassadine- perhaps connected to Sidwell – and who is nursing Spencer back to health because you are a doctor! How is that for a storyline, Frank Valentini?”

To which Robin replied,I CAN HEAR Frank Valentini SHOUTING ‘NO’ FROM HERE- where I am also shouting NO! The Hospital is FULL! I’d rather beat at the Gates (#BeyondTheGates😉 They’d eventually open up for an Older White Lady in a GAWGEOUS outfit! I LOVE HIGH STYLE STRUTTING- apparently so do audiences:)”

Once Strasser put that into the social media space, many of her followers replied with resounding excitement that they would love to see her on the new CBS soap opera. If Strasser were to visit Fairmont Crest, it would also reunite her with many behind the scenes she has worked with in the past including breakdown writer, Ron Carlivati, who was the head writer for her last major run as Llanview’s Dorian.

Not only has Robin appeared on One Life to Live and Days of our Lives throughout her daytime career, but she is also noteworthy from her times as Rachel Davis on Another World, Hecuba on Passions, Christina Karras on All My Children, and let’s not forget her time on CBS’ Knots Landing as Diane Kirkwood.

While Beyond the Gates features a predominantly all-Black cast, the series also has enduring soap favorites: Jon Lindstrom and Cady McClain in recurring roles as Joey Armstrong and Pamela Curtis.

So, what do you think, would you love to see Robin Strasser mix-it up in scenes with Tamara Tunie, Karla Mosley, Daphnee Duplaix and the Dupree family on Beyond the Gates? If so, what role would you love to see her play? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

If both Robin and Ericka are will to reprise their OLTL roles… just what in the world is ABC waiting for ??

Yes hire Robin Strasser on Beyond The Gates or The Bold And The Beautiful. We need Robin back on our screens again. She is a wonderful actress. Very classy sassy lady.

Totally admire this soap legend for following the industry and knowing that GH is not the right fit. It would be great if she did a guest arc on BTG. Much easier for RS to commute from her home base in NYC to Atlanta. Smitty’s mother or grandmother?

Please, no. Not needed. At all.

Thank you!

I agree, no need for Ms Strasser to be included on BTG. The show does not need her chewing the scenery. Although, if Dorian showed up somewhere, I’d be fine with her back in the role.

I would so love to see Robin on BTG. As a matter of fact, let’s have her be an old flame of Vernon’s who tries to get with him causing Anita to fire on all cylinders. Just imagine the delicious scenes coming from Robin, Clifton Davis, and Tamara Tunie… they would be priceless!!

For GH, no. No reason to add her as Dorian. From her statement, maybe there is bad blood between her and Frank Valentini. She would be a hoot on BTG as Smitty’s grandmother.

If robin wants to go beyond the gates they should scoop her up and let it go with Dorian she needs to play something new and don’t worry about her chewing up the scenery if you don’t like it change the channel

No! She had a long run on a day time soap. So let the new young people do their thing. You old soap stars stay home and watch, ” Beyond the Gates”
Just saying.

OMG, have seen enough of her over the years. Let her find something else to entertain herself!

Ashley Jones is the newest addition of CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates.  The veteran soap actress has posted some teasey Instagran stories revealing the intel; especially her latest wearing a Beyond the Gates emblazoned robe while in her dressing room.

As to who Jones is playing that is still hush-hush. Ashley follows other former daytime notables to Fairmont Crest which have included Greg Vaughan (ex-DAYS, Y&R, GH) and Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Y&R, AMC, DAYS and GL).

A spokesperson for Beyond the Gates confirmed the news to Soap Opera Digest expressing, “We can confirm Ashley Jones will be appearing in Beyond the Gates.” It should be noted: Beyond the Gates does tape four months ahead of air.

Soap fans first met Ashley when she played Megan Dennison on The Young and the Restless (1997-2000). She then went on to The Bold and the Beautiful to play Bridget Forrester in her initial run from 2004-2010 and since then making recurring appearances throughout the next 15 years. In addition, Jones appeared on General Hospital in the role of Parker Forsyth from 2016-17.

Earlier this week, Beyond the Gates was renewed for two more consecutive seasons its 3 and 4th by CBS, giving the youngest soap on the air, a big confidence boost. The series debuted back on February 24, 2025 as the first hour-long Black-led soap opera, and which tapes in Atlanta, Georgia instead of Los Angeles, California.

CBS Renews ‘Beyond the Gates’ for Seasons 3 and 4

Congratulations are in order for daytime’s newest drama series, Beyond the Gates. Today on April 15, the soap opera was officially renewed by CBS for two more seasons, its 3 and 4th.

The network revealed the renewal pick-up at a press briefing led by CBS Entertainment President, Amy Reisenbach. That show of faith takes the soap through the 2027-2028 television and streaming season, while the soap currently continues to air its second season.

Beyond the Gates creator, head writer and executive producer, Michele Val Jean took to X following the news of the pick-up and expressed her gratitude, sharing, “So this happened. Thank you to everyone involved, from the network to the crew, for the support, belief, hard work and dedication everyone has poured into this show. Beyond grateful.”

While Deadline was the first to break the news of the young soap opera’s latest accomplishment, Val Jean clarified that Tracey Thomson who is listed at the bottom of the article as one of the series executive producers along with Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey, is more than that.

Val Jean explained Thomson’s full involvement with Beyond the Gates, noting, “A credit egregiously missing on this article is Tracey Thomson’s. She’s been by my side cranking out these shows since episode 150. We just did 400. She’s my partner, my co-head writer and an executive producer and she deserves all the credit.”

Beyond the Gates is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, DC, in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States; a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home. At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those who live outside these gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who have “made it” and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life … and some with more grace than others.

The cast is led by the Duprees played by Tamara Tunie, Clifton Davis, Karla Mosley, and Daphnee Duplaix along with Brandon Claybon, Mike Manning, Trisha Mann-Grant, Ambyr Michelle, Colby Nixon, Arielle Prepetit, Sean Freeman, Timon Kyle Durrett, RhonniRose Mantilla, Keith D. Robinson. Jon Lindstrom, and more round out the cast.

So, excited to hear Beyond the Gates is keeping on keepin’ on with two more seasons coming your way after the completion of its current season? Let us know via the comment section. But first, check out our recent conversation on the Michael Fairman Channel with series stars Tamara Tunie, Sean Freeman, Clifton Davis and EP Sheila Ducksworth via the comment section below .
