Ryan Paevey Cast as Nathan West On General Hospital! A New Hottie Set To Arrive In Port Charles!

Courtesy/TokyPhotography
We had heard rumors that not one, but two, hotties were heading to General Hospital, and they are both coincidentally named Ryan! The first being the return of Ryan Carnes as Lucas Jones, and now comes word from none other than GH’s head scribe, Ron Carlivati as to who the other hottie is!
Actor/model Ryan Paevey has joined the cast of the ABC soap opera in the role we have mentioned previously was being cast that of a new detective, Nathan West, who will be working for the PCPD! The role is contract! Look for Ryan to first appear on the Monday, December 30th episode!
Carlivati tweeted around the time of the annual GH Holiday Party, “Look who’s coming to Port Charles…”, and with that, a sexy shot of Paevey was part of the tweet! Later, Ron sent out a second tweet after all the inquiries as to who the hottie was. He then added, ”To those who were asking me about this guy, Google Ryan Paevey. #Enjoy.”
Could Nathan eventually turn out to be a new love interest for Maxie (Kirsten Storms), since the show has teased a new man enters her life? Or, is it someone else on the canvas who will romantically mix it up with Nathan? Let us know what you think about Mr. Paevey?
Methinks he was cast more for his looks than any acting talent. He has hardly any acting credits but a lot of modeling credits. So is this going to be another example of a person learning to act on my time?
Probably, and some of these cookie cutter soap hunks never do learn the craft of acting.
On the other hand, a lot of them do. Actors-to-be have to start somewhere, and many models-turned-actors say they cut their teeth on a soap. Give the young man a chance…
I don’t care if he can act or not. This guy is too cute! Lucky, lucky Maxie.
Are you NUTS?!? Who CARES if he can act! LOL! Besides, if his abs are any indication as to his dedication when attaining his goals, then I’m sure he has the acting thing in the bag! But still, Hubba Hubba Shwing!
He is HOT!!
Another newbie from Ron. Same old thing. Tired of his cast, so he writes in someone new. And truthfully, Ryan has an OK face, but other than that, he is nothing in the looks department. Can we start using the cast we have now, or even cast people who don’t look like A&F off the poster. What happened to the normal, average Joes of the world?
You make a point, Scott. Give me the days of a Wanda and Vinnie on OLTL, real people! I think that was always the difference between NYC-based and LA-based soaps. Theater people and talent were not models or beauties. Attractive, yes, but in so many real and genuine ways.
I do wish GH would cut back on some of the “speed plotting” and “cast of thousands” to focus more on legacy characters. Still, the soap is firing well and keeps me following.
Normal, average Joes of the world don’t populate soap worlds. Where have you been?
I agree…we need more average Joes…thats what i like about Coranation Street: there cast of characters look like everyday people and can act!
Excellent observations from all three of you.. For me, the acting is the main credential to be considered when auditioning and GH has always been a soap where yes, there have been stunners, but they’ve also had their share of “everyman” and “everywoman” types in terms of looks and body configuration. And that’s what has made GH a “believable” soap in terms of seeing people on screen who look like people you would see on the street in your home area. Look at the just exited Bradford Anderson.
Yes, this new hire is attractive. Goody for him. We’ll soon see if his acting ability matches the facial and physical prettiness or if he turns out to be another of the “Ford Brother” types this regime seems to have a preference for. As with that sorry trio, I’m really not one who cares to sit and watch another episode of of “Let’s observe this man learn how to act, line by line, scene by scene.” Especially when there are more than enough vets who can be used for story and who are sadly brought out piecemeal.
What? Sounds to me like you’re jealous. Ryan is Hot! I don’t care about his acting abilities, he’s Gorgeous!
Um. No. I’m NOT jealous. Ryan is NOT hot nor can he act.
It’s OLTL Ford brothers all over again. He probably has two hunky brothers coming to town too. The cast is already bloated with many veterans being underused. GH does not need more fluff.
LOL. I AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENTS. DULL AS DISHWATER. WE DONT NEED ANY MORE NEWBIES, YOU CANNOT ACT. BRING BACK GENIE FRANCIS, AND SIGN HER TO A CONTRACT.
Have you seen him act?
or are ya just just stuck in the OLTL past and grumpy?? …lol
I dont mind newbies but only if the vets we already have are used…but this show has enough characters…i thought these shows were costly to produce so why keep adding to it?(hopefully he will be involved with Liz!)
I would enjoy watching him and Ryan Carnes cozy up in port Chuck. That said I’d love to see a character carry on an affair with someone of the opposite & same sex. So watching Lucas find out that his boyfriend is hooking up with Maxie or vice versa would make for some 21st century soap fun
Id watch this guy ALL DAY LONG!!!!!
Amen, sister!!!! Just like nu Petey on nu AMC!!
Not Me! Don’t need him on GH…
Well, then don’t watch it! I’m with you, Andrea and Lisa. And Scott, that’s YOUR opinion on Ryan. He has much more than an “okay face”! AND body! However, he hasn’t been on the show long enough for anyone to judge his acting abilities. And sometimes the soaps just want to put eye candy actors on to attract viewers, especially in the summer. I love the story line of his being so attracted to Maxie, who is with that loser and seems to be blind to how ridiculous he is for her compared to Ryan. But to each his own. He’s gorgeous and not all the actors have to have dramatic story lines. They need to put in the fluff to lighten things up a bit from time to time. The one I CAN’T STAND is Michael! How I wish they would end HIS story line or at least get another actor!
BEST SOAPS: Days and GH tied, best actress: Maura West as GHs Ava but also mention were Eileen Davison, Allison Sweeny for Days, Finola Hughes for GH, Heather Tom for B&B, and Debbi Morgan for AMC. best actor: Billy Miller for Yawn&R…lol. supporting actress: Meredith s. Lynn(Anne) for Days…but what about Kathleen G. for GH?…i do like Mereidith as Anne but Dr.O should at least tie! best supporting actor: John Aniston for Days…finally…he’s long overdue for some recognition! TVguides Micheal Logan is where i got my info.
it’s no surprise… that the quick witted and funny… bar none… when the writing matches his personality….
John Aniston… Victor… is GREAT!
I hope he submits an emmy reel
I hope John is emmy nominated…long before Days i had watched him do a great job as Edouard on Love Of Life and he wasnt nominated for a daytime emmy back then as well…i believe this is his time to shine!
OH! I love the snappy…. in your face… it’s my parade too
Anne.. LOL… Days of OUR Lives.. Rules!
they really have the best complete cast… that ALL mesh so well together….
I personally think Days could use some additions to its cast. They are missing some key components in certain age brackets and in character “type”. I thought they had the right mix circa 2010, but now there are holes that need to be filled.
I like RC/FV, but I don’t like that it appears they hire some actors for looks alone (like the vapid Ford trio on OLTL). I like using the existing cast and recurring characters. No need at this time for eye candy. There is plenty of that already.
He is not ”eye candy”
He is all that much..
he is good looking but not overly so..
And I see the handsome Ford brothers have a hold you to this day you can not let them go lol
We remember the Ford brothers for the same reason that people remember other disasters – as a warning that it can happen again.
And Ron C.’s fatal flaw is his predeliction to hire and promote prettyboys with no talent. Anyone who saw that happen on OLTL with that horrid trio rightfully has concerns that it could happen again.
What was wrong with the Ford brothers?? Since when is it a crime to be good looking?!
Soap Executive Producers and writers who create a character are paid royalties, so for every character Ron & Frank bring back, that’s a royalty paid to whoever created that character (Lucas, Julian, all the vets). So when you give credit to the 2 of them for bringing people back, you need to understand that they also have an interest in creating their own legacy. At least they’re creating a legacy using veterans as well as newbies. I can’t say previous regimes have done the same.
Well the PCPD does need more detectives, right now it is just Anna ( who is the commissioner and should be doing desk work not tracking bad guys) and Dante, (who lets face facts hasn’t been working too much at his job lately). Not sure about hiring a model and untrained actor for the part when there are so many gifted, experienced, and handsome actors needing work– but I get you don’t have to pay these wet behind the ears types the cash a seasoned professional deserves. So yes, imo the department needs beefing up, but would prefer to see a real actor have the role. Here’s a thought why don’t they make Sam a cop instead of a private investigator— I don’t know how this woman support herself and her baby, she has no clients, she could use a real job, unless she super rich and I don’t know that about her.
Wowsa! Pre-judgment much! First of all, he hasn’t aired yet. I remember all people had when Bryan Craig was cast as Morgan was a ‘goth’ looking headshot. His appearance was so not ‘goth’. No big acting credits for Craig either but he has more than surpassed expectations, especially sharing screen time with heavy-weights Maurice and Maura. Also, the casting director at GH is not the same casting director that OLTL had. Yes, most are cast on looks, this is a soap after all. Every soap is guilty, some more than others. GH, in my opinion has only had a few clunkers, most notably Lindsay Morgan as Kristina. The actress who was recast as Dominique years ago (Shell something) was VERY green in the beginning but more than earned audience love being paired with Scott and having Lucy have Serena for her as she was dying. Modeling is a great way for most people to start their careers…could help them pay for school, etc. Tyler Christopher did modeling before he was cast as Nikolas. All I’m saying is please don’t lay the I don’t want to watch him learn how to act on my time spiel. GH could’ve cast another model/actor for Lucas but went with using Ryan Carnes again, to my delight! Patience is a virtue and again, Nathan hasn’t aired YET. They know what they’re doing. GH hasn’t been this good in ages and to think it was going to be canceled before Frank & Ron took over is…well…it just boggles the mind. Yes, nothing is perfect but I’m glued to my set now, I barely watched during the decade of decimation that JFP and Guza brought. I have high hopes that Mr. Paevey will be a wonderful addition to the cast.
Amen! #cosign
I have never seen the guy or his acting nor has any one else who is commenting, bashing the guy.. don’t be so nasty…
He may well be very good and the PCPD is a good place for him..
He is not ugly, so what?? (fuinikunbelievable – hope some never get jury duty..) LOL
No-one else has seen him act because he HASN’T ACTED before, other than ONE short film. That’s it. He comes from the modeling world.
Sure, he could be fine, but anyone who has been watching soaps for the past 15 years, no matter the show, has reason to be concerned that precious airtime will be taken up ONCE again by someone learning on the job, hired solely because of looks.
It’s not like the guy has a body of work to his credit – so far, just the body.
So everyone acting surprised and shocked that people are gunshy after having been burnt time after time after time with underwear models eating up a soap are being disengenuous at best.
Wowsa!
takes my breath away
drool
I looked him up line..
his body is awesome but still I dont see him as overly good looking..
The naked woman in the shower with him seems to like his body too LOL
He will give Dante a run for the gold and make a great cop!
I’m looking forward to seeing him act (fingers crossed:)
me too
oh my! pair him with Elizabeth, she needs a hot guy, since they turned A.J into a looser and are giving hottie prince nicolas to britt. Rebecca needs a storyline and a men of her own, no sharing with these other bitches.
General Hospital is about the city of Port Charles. New characters must be worked into the canvas for excitement. Love the veterans but, even they were newbies at one time. Let’s give Ron a chance to work his magic.
I couldn’t agree more. You need new characters to keep things fresh and interesting.
Agree, new and fresh blood and oh so good looking
THANK YOU! How boring would the show be if there were never any new characters? ALL of the beloved characters of Port Charles were “newbies” at one time or another and were hated by some long-time fans who thought they were taking the place of other characters. My babysitter couldn’t stand Bobbie Spencer when she first showed up and Laura Webber was accused of “taking over the show.”
Its been said before and seems totally obvious to me– GH is soaring in the ratings for the first time in years. Ron Carlivati obviously knows what he’s doing, even it it is not everyone’s tastes.
Nathan West. Britt Westbourne. Look at their faces. Hmm…
He suppose to be a cop looking into Silas secret???
And Ava knows about it….Hum intresing…
Now, who you think he gonna be paired with???
Sam??? Um I don’t think so but can you say Lucky!!!!!
Lizzie???? I’m not a Liz Webber fan…but she need somebody(anybody besides AJ)
Britt?? I don’t care for her
Sabrina??? She got so much story line, I doubt it….
Lulu??? But she is married to Dante…but will she stray???hum….
Maxie??? Kristen suppose to be going on Maternity leave soon (he may be for her when she
Comes back
Ellie??? I don’t think so
Anna???…….cougar(lol)
Maxie and Lulu I think, they are already pissed at each other and this would just throw another wrench into their strained relationship that would be awesome, Maxie back to her old ways.
Never saw him before.. Time will tell if he even last’s on GH… He isn’t familiar to me..
Oh wow…ANOTHER dark-haired hunk to grace the Port Charles canvas…color me amazed! So, “Cartini”….why can’t we have us some fresh new blond beefcake??? You know, a sexy Swede, a beautiful Britboy, maybe an audacious Aussie…or just an adorable all-American???? Makes no difference….just please, “lighten up!” “Let the sunshine in!” ; )
Go to Y&R if you want that kind of color
Personally I like Ron’s choices
Unfortunately, I would also like an actual, intelligible storyline to go along with said blond boy(s)…hence, the Bell soaps are the last place I would look!!!
love the choice of Ryan as Nathan West…yummy
UGH it doesn’t surprise me anymore especially with the head writer and executive producer from OLTL. They so annoy me with their casting decisions. I I bet they just hire them to look at them all day. And you guys are right they have too many cast members on GH.
Please give Nathan West to Sabrina she needs a love interest and a surrogate father for her baby, who would not place them in jeopardy with his line of work! And Carlos is such a loser and I am finding it hard to understand why he wasn’t dispose of, when the opportunity presented itself in the warehouse. I promise, no one would miss his character!!! Fans of Robin tried to make him a good catch for Sabrina when she returned but Sabrina deserves better. Do not cause a riff between Dante and Lulu in he middle of them finding out about their son. AJ and Elizabeth still have the chance to work things out especially when the truth comes out about Ava Jerome (A.J. the initials Connie wrote in her blood). Maxie is going on her maternity leave and she needs togo off and be with Spinelli and her baby when the six months are up. Really wasn’t feeling Ellie after she interfered in the whole Dante-Lulu-Maxie-Spinelli stoyline. Therefore, this only leaves Sabrina as a logical love interes for Nathan West, I think this would bring a whole new dimension to Sabrina’s character that is exciting in comparison to be Patrick’s glorified babysitter/baby’s mother. It will keep Patrick and Robin from attempting to go after the baby like Patrick tried with Brit.
Maxie or Lulu for Nathan would be a great ride to watch
This guy is soooooo beautiful….is he real? I’m in heaven just watching him, acting or not.
agree
Love the new hunk. Looking forward to seeing who he gets to mix with.
He is so very sexy!! I hope him and Maxie does hook up.
agree sexy and would love to see him with Maxie but wait maybe Lulu oh what a web that would be
THANK YOU GH!!! Another hottie to look at in 2014!
Yummy! Thank you GH for both Ryan’s!! Looks like 2014 is going to be a bumpy ride!
agree yummy and that voice so sexy
Ok first, he is good looking.but please he’s not the best looking guy. Just because a guy is hot, doesn’t mean he can’t act, he can. Wow, take a chill pill! Let the man do his job! Ladies stop drooling over him. Sexual harassment goes both ways. From the comments I read, you are all acting like he’s your possession. Watch the show, it’s for Entertainment purposes only, or are you going to be like the viewer who sent presents to Luke and Laura’s Wedding. Chill!
well we have seen him act now and he is quite good, give the guy a chance, hot, can act. win win
Just stumbled on this blog, and while I understand many are skeptical of anyone whose main experience prior was modeling… Ever since the first day Josh Duhamel walked in to AMC as Leo DuPre… I expect/assume the best (and THEN, am frequently disappointed… LOL!!). So far, while we haven’t seen much of him – I’m cautiously optimistic. I thought his scenes with Maxie were really good!! (Of course… Kirsten’s acting reminds me of the old Randy Jackson/American Idol comment about “singing the phone book.” ) I thought Nathan’s interaction with Anna fell a little flat, but honestly, I fault the writing more than the acting for that being pretty dull. I look forward to the possibility of “Naxie,” or “Maxthan,” or whatever… LOL… but knowing it’ll be a few months before she’s back… I’m curious who might be the “filler,” in the meantime…??
he is hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot
This boy’s acting ability is non-existent. Yes, he’s a pretty face but omg it is painful to watch each and every scene he’s in. I love my GH, such an amazing cast of old and new talent. But lord, wipe this one off the canvas ASAP. I knowww there’s a guy out there just as attractive with the acting chops to back it up and the ability to hang with such soap greats! This is my plea to Valentini and Carlivati. As far as everything else, keep on keeping on you two. GH diehards couldn’t be happier with stories and characters.
Love,
Trent
First of all I can honestly say I have a PS3 and he looks just like this other guy nathan, and even though I am agay man I was glad he put on a shirt today I know hes hot but I look at acting skills. As for Lucas I can telate exept for having hair and being so muscular.
i thank nathan and max be dateing some day. they are roommates first . they are friends first. and hope they date.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.
