By Michael Fairman

The coverboy for the new issue of Men’s Health is motion picture star, Ryan Phillippe. In the pictorial and feature, Phillippe mentions some points in his professional and personal history of interest.   For soapers, its his feelings on playing young gay teen character who came out… Billy Douglas on One Life to Live.   Many remember Billy befriended Reverend Andrew Carpenter (Wortham Krimmer) and this story also was a vehicle to bring in the outstanding AIDS Quilt storyline.

And, for those post-soap Phillippe followers it was his marriage and divorce to Oscar winner, Reese Witherspooon that grabbed headlines.  Here are some excerpts below:

Ryan on his breakout role at age 17 as a gay teen on the One Life to Live: “I would worry, ‘What will the people at school think?’ And they shunned me in a lot of ways. But it ended up being an incredible experience and such a time of growth for me.”

Ryan on his divorce from actress Reese Witherspoon: “I still have sadness and complicated feelings about my divorce. But how beneficial is it to keep hanging onto those feelings?”

Over the last few weeks heartfelt condolences on the loss of Scott have poured including from: Finn Carter (ex-Sierra, ATWT), Martha Byrne (ex-Lily, ATWT), Melanie Smith (ex-Emily, ATWT) and  many more.

In fact, Bryne made note to TV Insider following the loss of As the World Turns co-star, of just how memorable Bryce’s work with the late Elizabeth Hubbard’s work as Lucinda was, and their unforgettable pairing; “The energy between them, their dynamic, all the play, fun, and the intensity just jumped through the screen. Most actors wouldn’t go down to set just to watch other performers. They’d stay in their rooms. I would go and just watch them work.”
