TODAY: B&B’s Sean Kanan Visits ‘The Talk’

Friday on CBS’ The Talk, Sean Kanan (Deacon Sharpe, The Bold and the Beautiful) is one of the afternoon series special guests, and will discuss and preview the continuation of the crossover story arc that finds Deacon in drama with Y&R and Genoa City’s Nikki Newman.

Next week, Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) comes to B&B as she tries to get dirt on Diane (Susan Walters) and wastes no time in telling Deacon he has to help her with her revenge plot.  After all, Deacon helped frame Nikki to look like she murdered Diane many years ago.

Kanan weighed-in on Deacon’s motives in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, sharing: “He actually wants to help Nikki.  Deep down, I think Deacon is more of a good person than a bad person.  He’s a guy who wants to do the right thing be he’s got issues.”

Tune in today for The Talk at 2pm ET / 1pm PT on CBS and Paramount Plus as Kanan reveals more of what’s to come with the show co-hosts: Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell, Sheryl Underwood and Natalie Morales.

In addition, Morales may have a thing or two to add to Kanan’s visit, since she has been making appearances on Y&R playing ace reporter, Talia Morgan, who has been investigating Diane Jenkins.

Looking forward to seeing Sean on ‘The Talk’? Will you be watching next week for the crossover to continue with Sean and Melody Thomas Scott in scenes on B&B? Comment below.

Elizabeth Gillies First Post-‘Dynasty’ Role Revealed; GH Alum Bryan Craig Also In Cast

Now that the CW’s Dynasty has come to its conclusion after five seasons, many have wondered what series star Elizabeth Gillies (ex-Fallon) will be seen in next.  Part of the answer was revealed today in casting news via Deadline.

Gillies will star and is the co-executive producer of a new Tubi film called Spread.  In it, Liz will take on the role of  ambitious and aspiring journalist, who lands a temp job at an adult magazine run by an aging industry king played by Harvey Keitel.  The character must reconcile her idealism as she strives to help the company succeed.

Spread is written by Buffy Charlet, who is another of the films Co-EP’s, and is inspired by Charlet’s real-life experience as a temp at Hustler magazine who rose in the ranks to become an editor.

The film also stars two-time Daytime Emmy winner Bryan Craig (ex-General Hospital, Good Trouble).

Look for Spread to drop on Tubi in 2023.

‘NBC News Daily’ Hits Rock Bottom In Ratings Premiere Week

While networks have seen a collective erosion over the years of the soap opera viewing audience, they are still the most loyal and fierce of any entertainment genre.

With NBC’s decision to take Days of our Lives off of the network after nearly 57 years, and replace it with another daytime news program, they would surely have a rocky road ahead of them to capture viewers in that time slot; especially now that DAYS was moved exclusively to NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock.

Nothing was more proof positive of that, than the first week ratings and performance of NBC News Daily.

The news show which premiered on Monday, September 12th came in last for the ratings period of all daytime shows for the week.

According to SON: NBC News Daily averaged 935,000 viewers, was last among Total Viewers and last in the key demo ratings: Women 18-49 (tie) and Women 25-54.

In comparison to DAYS last week on NBC, and a year ago, NBC News Daily was down -744,000 and -762,000 viewers, respectively.

NBC News Daily features the latest national and international news, plus consumer, health, and personal finance segments and is hosted by Kate Snow, Aaron Gilchrist, Morgan Redford and Vicky Nguyen.

So, will ‘NBC News Daily’ find itself facing the same fate as ABC’s defunct ‘Revolution’, which replaced One Life to Live, and lasted only six months, or will the news program somehow turn a ratings corner? Does NBC really care one way or the other? Share your thoughts below.
