More big news out of Salem! Days of our Lives is bringing none other than former All My Children star, Sal Stowers to the series in a new contract role of Lani!

Stowers who played the role of Cassandra Foster on Prospect Park’s online version of AMC, joins the canvas as the long running NBC daytime drama begins to celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this fall.  Look for Sal to make her DAYS debut on-air in September.

All My Children fans know Stower’s work, as she was at the emotional epicenter in one of the most harrowing, dramatic and talked about story arcs in the online reboot of the series – the human sex trafficking storyline.

In story, Cassandra was the adopted daughter of Angie Hubbard (Debbi Morgan).  The beautiful Stowers was also the season nine winner of the reality competition series America’s Top Model.

So, what do you think about Sal Stowers joining DAYS? Who do you think Lani will  be related to, and have a love story with?  Share your thoughts below!

I’ve always thought Abe should have more nieces and nephews through his sister Karen and brother Jonah. I’ve also thought they should recast the character Marcus Hunter and give him children. But my guess is that this character will be connected to neither… probably a completely new character. Hopefully she won’t be from anywhere like Pine Bluff!! Maybe another unheard of child of Stefano. Actress wise, I think it’s a good choice!

She did really well on AMC. Being as we have no story or character info, my wish would be she would be Brady’s new love interest. I don’t like him with Theresa. Just because they share a child doesn’t mean they need to be romantically involved.

If you have watched Days as long as I have..(since the very first day it came on) you know that people are constantly coming back from the dead…especially if you are a DiMera….could this be Lexi back from the dead?

I think she ‘s too young to be Lexie. Then, again….anything is possible…it’s a soap, right?…LOL.

Brady and Theresa are not romantically involved. He wants so part of her in that aspect.

i’m 10 eps behind… I plan to keep up

I’ve posted this prior : i’m so disappointed with DAYS production that the leading men… Daniel, Eric, Brady… are not bringing any thing new… dull… and uninspiring

Brady : has a lot of anger…. (could be the reason he has addiction issues) really…outside of Kristen… when he was partying… is when Brady is at his finest… funniest… and catapults his acting chops.

for him to be so mad… angered… because he “blames” Theresa … for what? a bubblegum teeny bopper romance? that was not the least bit interesting… Melanie and brady were played too cutesy cutesy… there was no drama between either of them…. I’m glad Melanie is gone…

Eric : (ok : he was raped, as a priest, by Kristen) so he has SERIOUS issues with trust, lies, and relating to any one ??? He didn’t even act anything out with Serena… till the end, when she was fired… and he acts all hurt… and repeated over and over.. how she must come clean…. and that his dad is the police commissioner

Daniel : the aura around him stinks…. give me a break… he is so played out…. does DAYS LEADING MAN have to be this boring ? this dull? has no relatable charisma with any one in the cast…. OK… i’ll give Parker that laud. DAniel who is in on every story… comes to the rescue… his magic hands… heals every one. I don’t even think he’s good in bed. I’d let go/fire Shawn Christian before Daniel Cosgrove’ Aiden.

I no longer like… or care that much at all … who Arianne Zucker ends up with…

I love AZ’ Nicole… as a character… just move ON !

it’s my opinion.. that Eric and Brady have not really lent any thing… to the canvas since Eileen Davidson has left… they certainly tried Kristen with Daniel…. as soon as she left… he spiraled

I hope Theresa digs in her claws mindset and takes Brady to the cleaners… DAYS production let’s do this up right…. give Theresa some power, finesse, and femme fatale

these three amigos (Brady, Eric, Daniel)… need to be taken down a few pegs

@sharon

don’t mind me… I’ve passionately steered my viewing habit derail

LOL

thank the soap god… that a new headwriting team plus producers have arrived

To be honest, Stephanie? Brady is too old for any of these girls. TPTB should give him mature roles; fit for his age….especially now that he is a father. Brady is forever stuck in his twenties…LOL.
I was hoping, in my heart of hearts, that Theresa had finally started a new chapter. But, after today’s episode, my hopes were dashed instantaneously. Did you see the look on her face when she spotted the happy couple at the hospital who was hugging and kissing?……that, due to their child’s illness and then recovery, made them re-connect? Oh, please Lord, do not let her do something criminally stupid and hurt her son….bad omen.

Has Munchausen by proxy syndrome (MBPS) ever been featured on a soap opera?

@4ever.
Hi,
That’s a good question. Hmmmm. This could be a very inspiring storyline which would resonate with many. Could such a storyline be in the works (MBPS)? Interesting.

abe needs a new love in his life give him a new woman

Abe is 112 years old and noone wants to see him in a love sl with a woman young enough to be his great grand-daughter!

This is great news, I may start watching again. They should also cast the young lady who played Miranda Montgomery (Brooke Newton) she’s a great actress. Debbie Morgan and Darnell Williams would be a wonderful addition to the cast as well. Just think about it Days, Please!

Darnell is in talks with Sudsville.com to be part of a new soap. Can’t wait!!

Penny, love your suggestions. Hope the producers are listening.

I once said id like to see Debbie Morgan on Days playing the role of Valerie Grant, a character off the show since the 80s, and as a love interest for Abe!!!

No way, Jimh! If DAYS brings Valerie back, she better be played by Tina Andrews who did nothing wrong, but be so convincing that some fans went crazy until she was let go. Tina was very popular until David and Valerie became a couple. It would be nice to have her back where she can receive positive feedback instead of the hate mail laced with death threats.

Tina recently tweeted that she would be open to a return. She also posted a photo of her and Richard Guthrie. If I receive my wish to have Tina back a Valerie, who should play David? I know you liked RG, but would you want Gregg Marx or someone new?

I love Debbi Morgan (Angie). And, she’s the right age for Abe, too.

I hope she’s playing a woman who was born female. She could play Julie’s granddaughter!

Maybe Julie’s son David got back with Valerie Grant and she is their daughter…i would like that…or she is Maxines daughter…i would like that too!!!

Yes, Jimh, and would you link Sally (Nicole’s coworker) to anyone on the canvas?

Okay….so, I wasn’t born when David was on in the early 80’s, but I am very familiar with most, if not all, the characters and the storylines because of my grandmother. He had a son with Trish (Patty Weaver…great singing voice)….so, David would be around fifty now, right?
I think that what jimh is saying makes sense. Sal could be playing the role of David’s and Valerie’s daughter.
But, both Gran and I would also love to see David’s and Trish’s son.

David, Trish and Valerie would be in their sixties.

The most popular David Banning was played by Richard Guthrie (1975-1981).
I believe Trish Clayton was only played by Patty Weaver (1974-1982).
The son of David and Trish was named Scotty who was last played by Rick Hearst (1989-1990).

The original and most popular Valerie Grant was played by Tina Andrews (1975-1977).

Interestingly, Scott(y) and his girlfriend, Faith (Melinda Clarke) were casualties due to DAYS’ 25th anniversary! Melinda is the daughter of John Clarke who played the original Mickey Horton.

CeeCee, To be clear…Scotty and Faith were written out. They simply moved away. By saying casualties, I meant they had to be let go in order for DAYS’ to afford the returnees.

I opened a can of worms, CeeCee. Two of the returnees for DAYS’ 25th anniversary were Peter Reckell (Bo, long-term) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope, short-term).

@4ever. I appreciate that, 4ever…I like opened cans of worms…LOL. One never knows what one may find….thank you, for the back history.

I would like to know what character she’ll be playing and what the story is.

Is this nanny on the up-n-up? I already smell a rat. She’s either a spy, or a potential plaything for Brady. He’s always in need of one. Whoever she is…she brings trouble.

Where does it say she’s playing a nanny?

Perhaps, I mishear, Mo, but I thought I heard Brady tell John, on the phone, that he had ‘a great nanny. We saw her today.

Correction…misheard.

hey CeeCee..
I see DOOL getting many new characters..
Are they near to getting a new cast?

hadda ask– I’ve never seen so many ‘new’ entering a soap..

I know, Su. Also, I thought Xander was leaving?
The only one I bemoan is Sonny. I wish he would stay. But, Will needs to be castrated…LOL

Youv’e been overdosing on GH…that sounds like she would be a spy for Ava who gets hired by Sonny as a nanny for his baby!…joking…lol…i was hoping she’d be Maxines daughter!!!

Hi, jim….that’s funny…I think I am overdosing on GH….lol

I don’t think the nanny is anything but someone they hired to cart the baby in and out of scenes– but this new girl does sorta have the same look as the nanny on right now, but they are two different people.

Okay. Thanks for the explanation, Mary. I thought I was seeing things…going crazy, you know? LOL

I admired Ms. Stowers on the AMC reboot. She did very well in a difficult plot line. I am pleased another daytime drama has cast her.

NBC has little success in most dayparts. I think a commitment to DAYS and daytime programming may not be a bad idea, some kinf of partnership with burgeoning web soaps perhaps?

I too… admired … this gorgeous stunning woman… on the AMC reboot, she really did a good job, as you said with her part on AMC

which just makes me miss Angie and Jesse….

I totally agree , with many posts… that she should be tied to a character… and it’d be great to see Abe more, in the mix

Good news, she’s a great actress, though it would be nice to know who she’ll play. There seems to be a lot of shakeups as of late with DAYS, with Daniel Cosgrove likely out and now Shawn Christian mulling an exit too. However, it seems like they’re clearing the way for fan-favourite returns and even some new characters, which is good news. The next person I’d like to see go is Galen Gering, I don’t think he’s a good actor and I can’t stand Rafe.

Gee, was I the only one who saw her take Tate from Brady, today? Wasn’t that Sal? Then, I heard Brady tell John, he had hired a nanny. Am I starting to hear things? Wow…or am I losing it?

Similar looking to Sal but the nanny is being played by Nadia Sloane

@Mary.
Thanks, again, Mary.

No, it was not Sal. The nanny on TV is white and Sal is black. And IMO don’t look at all alike.

i miss redaric williams ( tyler) from y n r and think he was never given a fair shot once griffith left, but since josh griffith writing for days now it would be amazing if they brought him back to daytime! depending on the importance of this new female character, i could see her and redaric looking hot together!!

No, it would not be amazing. He cannot act. So glad he left Y&R.

I would love to see her as a part of Abe’s family. Maybe a niece, or a daughter we never knew about. We need bigger circles, the pool is too shallow.

I wanted them to continue with a pairing of Maxine and Abe.

Congratulations to her. She certainly did a fine job with the emotionally charged role of Cassandra on AMC.

Yayyyy!!! Can’t wait!

Well I hope she’s a new love interest for Abe. I really wish Lexie would come back but the actress wanted to retire from acting.

Not sure I haven’t watch DOL in a few years so I Will have to do some binge watching to see how they bring her in . I’m truly excited and looking forward to it she was awesome in and all my children . Go Sal

I was never a fan of her during her time on Top Model, but she made me a fan by her portrayal of Cassandra on All My Children. I look forward to seeing her in Salem causing some truly amazing drama!

I watched AMC online..
I remember Cassandra Foster ..
She was Jesse and Angie’s daughter..
She was a sex slave and she was forced to exotic dance etc..
She was very good!!!!

She is gorgeous!! I hope maybe she’ll be a daughter of Abe or Stefano and be paired with Rafe!!!!!!

She was wonderful on the great albeit short-lived On-line version of ALL MY CHILDREN, a show that the stupid asses at ABC should have never let go in the first place (sorry, I always have to get my digs in against ABC) – but she is a very fine young actress and I hope they give her some good scenes on DOOL.

I’m sorry but this needs to be said…DOOL just doesn’t know how to write for black characters. They always mess it up. Black characters are never at the fore-front of any sl. Abby and what’s his name were a good looking couple together and they could have worked things out but the writers didn’t know how to write for the character. It’s sad really because this is 2015 and the world is filled with bi-racial couples and children. Hopefully the new writers will know how to do just that and write for the characters and not the color of the characters!

I did not see her on the model show, but I did catch the AMC reboot. Sal was phenomenal. With the raw, emotional story line she was incredible. I give her much kudos and cannot wait for 9/25 to arrive!
I do hope, as others have stated, that her character is tied to someone or family already in Salem and/or history in Salem.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

Photo: ABC

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Photo: ABC

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
