Missing some Vanessa Marcil in your life? Well, look no further than Saturday night, when the former Brenda Barrett of General Hospital takes on her latest role in the Hallmark Channel TV Movie, The Convenient Groom (9pmET/8PMCT).

In story, Dr. Kate Lawrence, a celebrity relationship coach (Marcil) faces public humiliation when her fiance (Aaron Craven) breaks up with her and calls off their wedding just as she is about to go public with their nuptials.

Fortunately, a childhood friend (David Sutcliffe) steps up and pretends he’s her groom-to-be to help her save face in this new romantic comedy.

Marcil tweeted a photo from the movie today stating: “My dream job Dr Kate Lawrence PH.D. Doc of love convenient groom”

Marcil also spoke with TV Line on her new TV movie, but they also asked the actress is she has a standing invitation to return to reprise her role of Brenda on GH at anytime, to which Vanessa replied:  “Yes. They’ve always made me feel super welcome and like it’s my home. I mean, they’re awesome.”

Watch a promo for The Convenient Groom after the jump and let us know if you will be tuning in to see Vanessa, and if you wish GH would bring back Brenda for some intriguing story in the future!

I love Vanessa Marcil, she still looks terrific. Those glasses make her look sexy. Lol. I want Vanessa Marcil to come back to GH. I miss Brenda Barrett so much. Vanessa is a wonderful actress.

I haven’t a clue as to who she is.
I do like the glasses.. If my eyesight would ever fail and I’d need glasses, I would like those glasses..

No clue, Su? Haven’t see the old intro with Sonny taking her hand on the sand? Making whoopee on the beach to beat the band? Haven’t even seen the (in)famous scene (on youtube perhaps) where Sonny pulls her across the floor after she betrays him by wearing a wire (not glasses–lol!)
Well, my dear, step right up and take a gander–those were the days when Sonny was gray (not black) and GH was hot–got it?

PS Don’t “sue)” me, ok? Just want you to know “those were the days,” ok?

I know I’m a lone voice in the wilderness here, but I’m not a fan of Vanessa Marcil or the Brenda character. I don’t think her acting is on level with Laura Wright, Maura West, Jane Elliott, or even the younger ladies like Emme Rylan. She did a guest spot on HAWAII FIVE-O a few years back and she did okay because she wasn’t the whole show, just a secondary character. But…WE all have our faves and it’s fun to see them in other projects, so I’m sure her fans will enjoy the new movie.

She is fabulous and won and Emmy and every time she comes back to GH its an event. I doubt that would happen with any of those actresses and by the way emme is almost the same age as Vanessa.

Mark, just to clarify…Vanessa is 47, Emme is just 35. I’d say that places her closer to Laura Wright & Maura West. And she has only won ONE Daytime Emmy. But I know how u feel. Whenever Billy Miller shows up somewhere else, I find myself getting all verklempt! If you didn’t see that HAWAII FIVE-O with VM, try to find it. She was quite good sparring with sexy Alex O’Loughlin.

Is there any reason you feel the need to come into a Vanessa article just to whine about not liking her and call her a bad actress? Could you not find something more worthy to do with your time?

Sorry to offend you. I thought this was a forum for expressing opinions politely. Apparently you don’t agree.

Love Vanessa but this wasn’t one of her best projects. Somehow it seems to me when actors start to take time off from their craft they lose their skills to some extent. Has happened with V, I also think it has happened with Genie Francis as well. I think it becomes harder to lose oneself in an alternate persona. As Brenda, she was much more dynamic and enveloped in the character in the 1990’s than when she started coming and going (really started checking out of the character I would say in 2008). Same thing for Genie F as Laura,… Read more »

Astute comments–and, yes, I agree with you that TG’s not wanting Genie on the set made her appear tense–but, thankfully, now that TG is out of the show, Genie seems to have relaxed a lot, and this is particularly evident in her scenes with Jon Lindstrom where I see glimmerings of the fiery and passionate, as well as playful, Genie/Laura. She smiles with her eyes and her mouth–and even emits that famous giggle of hers once in a while–and the raised eyebrow. Go, Genie! Looks like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders. Must have been very hard for… Read more »

General Hospital To Air Special Election Episode In Honor of the Passing of the 19th Amendment & Women’s Right To Vote

On the Monday, November 2nd episode of General Hospital, just before election day here in the United States, the ABC daytime drama is airing a very special episode depicting and remembering the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution.

The inspiring female cast will go back in time as Laura Wright takes on the role of Beatrice Eckert, a suffragist, who is more than ever, determined to get women to exercise their right to vote.

Key to the episode are Eden McCoy (Josslyn) and Sydney Miykala (Trina).  In the story, it marks Josslyn’s first time to be able to vote now that she has turned 18. At first, she isn’t very motivated to vote, but when she and Trina find themselves traveling back in time to 1920, things take a turn as Josslyn realizes just how important it is to exercise her right to have her voice heard and vote, as those women before her fought for their rights.

In the all female directed, written episode, also look for actresses: Maura West, Nancy Lee Grahn, Finola Hughes, Rebecca Herbst, Nicole Briana Henry, Brook Kerr, and more of the female cast to be on-screen.

The episode’s key messaging, “Voting isn’t just a right.. it’s a privilege.”   All that to say, remember, to get on vote come Tuesday.

Emme Rylan Addresses Reports Of Her Exit From General Hospital & Update On Plans With Family

Several hours ago, Emme Rylan (Lulu) of General Hospital took to her Instagram story to talk directly to her followers, friends and fans about her rumored exit on the ABC daytime drama series, and to share some changes in where she and her family will be living.

At that time, Emme updated everyone that since the landlord sold the house she has been living in with partner Don Money and their three children, that they had not found a suitable home for them to live, in Los Angeles, after their extensive search.  So for now they were going to put their things in storage and go on an extended road trip with the entire family in tow … in a car… under Covid-19 safety protocols with her kids still distance-learning, and that she would be documenting the trip on her Instagram account,

After she shared her original update, she later went back to her Instagram story to clarify her earlier statements after many fans were following up with her asking her even more questions.

Rylan shared:  “I am getting a lot of questions that I cannot answer …  people are kind of being confused that maybe I chose to take a vacation or take time-off,  so the only thing I can say is “no, I did not choose this.”  I can’t say anything else.  There you go.   That’s all I am allowed to say.   So, this trip is us taking an unexpected turn of events and turning it into something positive and fun for our family. ”

Earlier on her IG story, Emme addressed the reports of her exit from Port Charles explaining: “I am not in a position to be able to comment on the work stuff, so in terms of General Hospital, I am going to keep that topic quiet. All you need to know is that I love everyone there, we all love each other, I’m okay, and all of your messages of love are amazing … I love you guys so much — but I just can’t talk about it. ”

Then as to her plans with her family she shared: “We, meaning my family and I, have decided to do something completely insane. I have never done anything like this in my entire adult life. We are currently packing up our entire house and putting it in a pod and putting it in storage here in Los Angeles, and with only our suitcases, we are going to go on a Covid-safe, epic road trip.  I have been working every single day, Monday through Friday on a soap opera since 2004?  I have only been in New York and L.A, and I have never really explored life outside of this bubble.”

So, what do you think about what Emme shared with her fans and followers? Comment below.

Genie Francis Returns to General Hospital During November Sweeps

General Hospital fans have been noticing the absence of icon Genie Francis in her role as Laura since the show returned to production amid Covid-19.

But fans will not have to wait much longer as Francis will be back on-screen during the key November sweeps ratings period and will be right in the middle of all the drama, in particular, surrounding Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober).

According to Soap Opera Digest, and their sweeps preview in their latest issue (on newsstands now) GH co-head writers, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor reveal that Laura will return to Port Charles and is not pleased with what has happened to the city while she has been away, and that she is, “determined to get answers to Cyrus’ past and she is determined to be the one to ultimately bring him down.”

There is no official word on Genie’s first airdate bsck, but stay tuned, as November is just around the corner.

Back on October 7th, Genie posted a photo of herself sharing: “Bye bye New England! So happy to have had a bit of fall!”  Thus, signaling she was headed back to the west coast to re-join GH.

So looking forward to seeing Genie back on GH?  How do you think Laura will try to bring down Cyrus? Comment below.
