Say it isn't so! Emily O'Brien OUT at Y&R!

© JPI Studios

And the soaps keeps shrinking its cast size! Not necessarily a bad idea in most cases, but choose wisely folks. This time Soap Opera Digest has learned that Daytime Emmy nominated Emily O’ Brien who has played crazy Jana Hawkes Fisher with all the freakish storyline twists and turns she has to endure had been let-go by the The Young and the Restless.

Could it be they just wrote Emily’s character into a corner, or is there something ahead to faciliate some greater story? Stay tuned.  No final airdate has been announced for Emily, but we wish her the very best in all her future endeavors as she is one talent that should go very far, and perhaps that Y&R should not have let slip away.

Just add it the list of mistakes Y&R keeps making. What is wrong anymore with my #1 soap. Oh and bring back Daniel Goddard!

Michael,

I agree with you Emily O’Brien is talented actress. Emily O’rien will be missed. Jana was written into a corner the minute TPTB allowed her to be taken hostage and presumebly loose her memory. For once Y&R should allow Cane to stay dead, Ghost Cane and Lilly storyline is stupid. Y&R is famous for bringing people back from the dead. Katherine, Adam and now Cane. If this and rich brats (Newman offspring) is all Y&R has to offer, I’m changing the channel.

Y&R continues to add mistakes to the long list of mistakes they’ve made. Jana has been written horribly over the last year, but I still had small hope she come back to normal and reunite with Kevin. Chloe and Kevin just don’t seem right together, I don’t know what it is. It’s bad enough they turn my Sharon into a COMPLETE lunatic, but now they’re cutting cast members like DG and EO’B who have great potential. Weak.

Chloe and Kevin have no chemistry and I do think they wrote Jana into a corner. They seem to be having problems pairing people up, Diane with Victor is just as lame.

Jana was one of my favorites until they destroyed the chatracter.

I’m so sorry to hear about this. Emily O’Brien is fantastic as Jana and always shines in her scenes, no matter how ludicrous! 🙂 I wish her well and hope to see her on the small screen again. That being said, I just want to say how much I thoroughly enjoy Young and the Restless. The writers have been getting so much flack lately (alright, perpetually!) but I find the #1 soap on television to be endlessly entertaining!! Sure, there are a few clunker storylines (what show on television doesn’t have one?) but I think there’s more good than bad.… Read more »

Sorry to see Jana, Emily leave the show. I thought she just signed a new contract. They wrote her horribly, but I still had hopes for Jana. Chloe and Kevin are awful as a couple. Cane’s ghost, Adam forced upon us, lunatic Sharon, Victor/Diane/Tucker/Nick, Hearher & Chance…All bad decisions!

I love Jana! I just hope that by cutting her from the show, they have also cut the Ryder character as well. That was a huge mistake briging him back! Now how will this all play out? I want it to be discovered that he and his waco sister are really not related to Kevin at all.

I think they should wind up the Jana story as soon as possible .It’s enough already. Emily has done a great job of acting, but let’s get on with the story. Yes, we are all hanging on to see what happens with Daniel and Billy and Victoria. It doesn’t look too good for any of them. And wait until Phyliss finds out about the baby. Let’s get on with it …..

Vinessa Antoine’s ‘Diggstown’ Acquired by Fox in the U.S.

Great news for fans of former GH star Vinessa Antoine (Ex-Jordan).  The Canadian legal drama, Diggstown, in which she stars has found an American broadcasting home via news today that Fox has acquired the series.

Fox has picked up twelve episodes for seasons one and two of the drama.

In Diggstown, Antoine stars as Marcie Diggs, a star corporate lawyer who reconsiders her priorities and moves to work in a legal-aid office after her beloved aunt takes her own life following the pressures of a malicious prosecution.

The series explores issues of social injustice among other topical matters and universal themes. The team of lawyers that Marcie works with are a curious band of do-gooders, cynics, and scrappers – messy souls struggling to keep personal disappointment and demons out of their practice. They work directly in the community to find justice for their varied clients. Marcie is driven by one thing – to never again allow innocent lives to be destroyed by the justice system.

Deadline broke the news of the acquisition, which will help the network during the Covid-19 pandemic and production shutdowns, to have programming ready to go while other shows continue to get up and running.

No word yet on when Fox might air Diggstown in its primetime line-up.

So, excited to see Vinessa in the legal drama when the show airs on Fox? Comment below.
