Yesterday, the talented Sean Kanan, who has been able to take the very dark Deacon Sharpe from soap to soap announced via his twitter page that his time as Deacon on The Bold and the Beautiful is over, even though to viewers he just recently started airing!  So what does this mean for Deacon’s impact on the story with Hope and Liam and Bill’s machinations?

Kanan tweeted, “I want to thank all of you for your support. Returning to Bold was a great experience. Apparently Deacon’s time there has come to an end.”

No final airdate has been announced for Kanan, but were soapers hoping his stay on the show would be more long term?  Let us know your thoughts!

No place for him on B&B anymore.

From what the grapevine says, HE was hoping to stay longer too but a certain co-star vetoed that for whatever personal reasons.
I personally never cared for Deacon and don’t know why he is so popular on either show but I do admit that seeing Hope revisit that history is a bit titillating (although it highlights how ridiculous the SORAS is).

i read that too & tptb & tiic should not have gone along with that co-star……………what a waste of talent!!

Sure wish they could resurrect AJ Quartermaine and give him the role. Back in the day, he was fantastic as AJ.

i really loved sean’s a j & yeah i wish he could be brought back only if sean could portray the character………..

I want him as AJ again too. He looks so much like Steve Burton.

WHACK! What’s the drama w/the drama? Gimme a break!! Deacon, Deacon, Deacon, Deacon!!!

So, I just read some gossip online & people are saying KKL wants SK out because she’s desperate to be part of a supercouple. If it’s true, I’ll say to that, it’s not about you KKL! Get a grip. She’s “Brooke” & that’s great but seriously, she’s dictating storyline now? …Not that great!

Everything over the last 20 some years of actors on this show who are involved with KKL & RM characters die. They are like watching paint dry he strokes her like a puppy dog NAUSEATING!!!!

I am talking about Ridge & Brooke I just want to vomit when I see them on screen!!!!

SO TRUE KAY AND HILLARY ,BROOKE AND RIDGE ARE BOREDOM CENTRAL DEACON WOULD HAVE BEEN A GOOD SHOW BUSTER OPENER BEING HOPE’S DADDY AND ALL

don’t think stars should be able to OUT themselves on twitter. it gives away the storyline to the fans. not right

I agree. With the Internet, a lot of stories are ruined. Like when we found out Eileeen was leaving Y&R. As soon as I heard that, I knew Ash and Tuck wouldn’t reconcile.

Exactly, Mo. And you don’t feel invested in watching that particular storyline either, if you know someone is leaving! I love suspense & wondering every day what will happen next. I don’t like spoilers. Remember cliffhanger Fridays everyone? Now ABC shows the promos for GH & ruins everything (for me, that is)

I completely agree. Besides the horrible writing, the other thing that I think is really killing the soaps is the rampant leaking of upcoming plots and their outcomes along with the coming/goings of actors on the shows. It is difficult to stay interested and anticipate an episode when we know the outcome in advance.

Other shows do things differently. This past season on “Celebrity Apprentice”, one episode was edited to give the impression that Aubrey O’Day walked off the show (which the next episode revealed was not the case). The day after, O’Day tweeted something to the effect that she stayed after that episode. O’Day’s tweet was removed within a matter of hours!! Other shows jealously guard against leaks.

One time I actually met a contestant on one of those reality game/show things (something like “The Bachelor” but can’t remember the title; the show flopped) before it aired. She said little to nothing about the show other than it was filmed in the Western US. She told me that there was a multi-million dollar penalty clause for disclosing info about it. I know that there would other issues (union rules, etc.) but couldn’t the soaps do something to shut down this flow of information? It would make it harder for sites like this to readily get “juicy” information but would make the shows more interesting.

The absolute WORST example of this: ATWT quit filming in June 2010 with the final episode airing in mid September 2010. Sometime in July, almost 2 months before everything had aired, the PRODUCER Chris Goutman gave an iinterview telling everything that was going to happen in the end!!!! I thought what he did was unforgiveable (maybe not as unforgiveable as the hack job that he and the writers did to that show but still bad!).

Barbara, agree–that thing about CA was bad. I couldn’t understand why Aubrey would post that. Let it play out on air so people would watch. Duh!

Part of these twits, I guess, is so the actors can let peeps know they’re available for jobs, but isn’t that what agents are for? They can advertise actors’ availability to the casting people without outing storylines.

I really hope Brad rethinks things on B&B. We’ve been overloaded with the the triangle of the next generation foreva. I don’t mind seeing it, but let’s have some other storylines. I still think he’s missing the boat not having Felicia and Thorne in story. Poor Thorne has to woo Taylor OFF CAMERA. He didn’t even get to appear when he sent her that chocolate fountain. And Thomas makes some quip about learning his lesson after being relegated to the basement. I thought, what about Thorne? He lives down there!

Im very upset by this! I was hoping he’d
Be around for awhile! What a shame! If
I was Brad Bell I would be ashamed of
Myself! He let something really good go!

Instead of the revolving door between Y&R and Bold & The Beautiful, why doesn’t he just talk to GH, and see if they can figure out some way to bring AJ back from the dead? I always enjoyed his version of that character. You’re never really dead on a soap opera, so figure out a way to bring him back.

That would be fantastic.

GH is waiting for him.

I hope so.

ME 3 !! LOL..

WHAT???!!!!! He’s only been on a couple days, but he scenes have been great and I can see so much potential for story, long term story. Does he even come into contact with Amber?

The whole dealyo with Bill blackmailing the warden into releasing Deacon is so stupid. Wardens don’t have control over when inmates are released. They follow court orders. If the warden knowingly released an inmate early, they would be punished. It would have been better for Bill to blackmail the governor who could pardon Deacon.

Odd. all the hoopla for his return and poof, he’s gone. Too bad.

A COUPLE DAYS IS REDICULOUS !WHY BOTHER?/ HE COULD HAVE HAD A REAL IMPACT ON HOPE;S STORY AND BORING BROOKE, PLUS WE COULD SEE BILL HAVE SOME MORE FUN AS THE BAD GUY

Misfire, B&B. So much potential for Deacon’s return, in the person of Sean Kanan or another actor. He makes Brooke and others uncomfortable. He has a daughter and geez! If characters can rerturn from the dead and other such nonsense, then a man whose life has been a total con could give some riveting story in connecting with his now grown daughter. Or maybe he would turn tables on Bill Spencer and cause “the new Victor Newman” to take a fall or redirect his life and attentions or let go some of his vendettas (until the refire). There may be fireworks ahead for all we know, but again, this seems a waste of talent and another example of big announcements with little payoff.

Brad Bell is clueless. Sadly, this all part of a bigger problem that the soap has been going through for nearly a year–plots start, stop, and are all together dropped. There was Thorne and Taylor taking over FC, Rick and Amber taking over FC, Rick and Amber reminiscing and reuniting–all hinted at in interviews and subsequently killed before they even blossomed into a full-fledged storyline. Instead the entire show–every last conversation, even foreplay scenes between couples–has been given to the endlessly maddening Hope-Liam-Steffy triangle Don’t even get me started on the vanishing Marones–a HUGE mistake. Lesley-Anne Down is amazing, ageless, and beautiful–she deserved better.

Thank you Tom someone finally said something about LD she is gorgeous and a nice lady not to even give her a send off or JW was heartless, but Brad Bell has a long history of screwing over actors Crystal Chappell watch your back.

We all LOVE to see Deacon Sharpe, on Y&R or on B&B — PLEASE don’t take him away from us. I love to see the crossovers between the 2 shows. Don’t take the SEXY, SUAVE Deacon Sharpe away from us yet again!! He is a great actor as both the villain and the good guy,so give him a permanent, constant story line . We long term watchers appreciate the familiar faces and hate it when new faces come along, that’s what makes Y&R so great and the cross-overs to the B&B — PLEASE keep Deacon Sharpe!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
