Big news today from CBS! None other than daytime fan favorite and one of the stars of the hit CBS primetime series Criminal Minds is returning to his old stomping grounds at The Young and the Restless!

That’s right! Daytime Emmy winner Shemar Moore is returning to Genoa City as Malcolm Winters for the first time in nearly a decade with a two day appearance slated to air on the September 10th and 11th episodes of the number one soap opera!

During his two-day return, Moore will reunite with longtime friend and co-star Kristoff St. John, who portrays his on-screen brother, Neil Winters. In the episodes, Malcolm returns to Genoa City after leaving town years before without a proper goodbye. Now, he’s back for an important visit with the Winters family to make amends and catch up on everything he’s missed.

“I am excited about returning to The Young and the Restless as a special guest,” said Moore. “This is where I got my start and I am looking forward to reuniting with my soap opera family.”

So what do you think of the news of a Shemar return to GC?   Let us know!

Noooooo!!! He’s awful

No! The newbies are awful; Malcolm is a-w-e-s-o-m-e! I only hate to see him come back under JFP regime. I tell you, the woman is never leaving! Still glad, SM is coming back, even for just a couple of shows!

Matt…YES…THANK YOU!!!!! AGREED!!!!! And…

1. Yep…those newbies are awful!!!!! And…and in serious need of ACTING LESSONS…LOL!!!!! Yep.
2. Dude…to me, that JFP reminds me of an unwanted houseguest who refuses to leave. YIKES!!!!!
3. Y-E-S…Malcolm is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!! And…that Shemar Moore is ALL KINDS OF F-I-N-E!!!!! HELL TO THE YEAH!!!!!

Take care, Matt. A-C-E-S!!!!!

This speaks volumes as to what a good kid Shemar Moore is.

Sadly, the writers will completely screw it up just like they did when he returned in early 2005.

The Malcolm character has been destroyed for almost a decade now.

How right you are. She mar Moore is enigmatic in whatever role. Unfortunately, Y&R has the uncanny knack of pulverizing truly skilled actors who make an indelible impression.

Do not toy with my emotions! This better be real Mr. Fairman!! 🙂 I can’t wait!!

That’s the Malcolm I remember.

Yayyy. Can’t wait!

Maybe he comes to town and knows a secret about Hilary who is pregnant with either Neils or Devons child…that she was married before to a much older man and took him for every cent…Malcolm himself!!! Ok, not true…lol

Please not another who’s the daddy drama! We already have this with Victoria & company! Just thought of something; Neil is constantly betrayed by the men in his family. Malcolm slept with Drucilla, when she thought he was Neil, while high on cold medicine and Devon slept with Tyra, another woman Neil was seeing and now he is lusting after Hilary. Give this poor guy a break! It will be good to see Shemar on Y&R again.

Trust me if she ever laid down with this guy she would not even look twice at Neil & Devon. This man is fine!!! This man leaves you breathless he has a boyish charm & a sexual air about him! Ok I am done! lol Fantasy time over & out!!!

Wow! This is the biggest return/casting news this year. Can’t wait . Even if it’s two short days.

JFP must be desperate for viewers! However I can not wait for Shemar to return, even if for only two episodes.

I agree, seems like a ratings ploy but I do look forward to seeing him.

Anything ANY soap does is for ratings. What the heck?

Well this is one cross promotion I don’t mind—at least he was connected to the show– and it will be nice to see original Malcolm again, even for two days. Finally something connected to the Winters family to look forward to.

Mary my sister still watches every day and she tells me that they r hinting at a Mariah/Nick hook up? Please tell me that she is wrong I will never return to watching this show on a full time basis again if they do that. The fact JM would not scream to the producers that actress grew up on that show as his child Disgusting!!! There has to be a line you do not cross please tell me she is off base.

Yes it is true– sort of– we definitely see Mariah developing a thing for Nick, it could just be a crush or she might be getting the hots for him. Right now Nick is oblivious and whether or not the writers would write him returning her feelings is a long ways off I think.

One would hope the writers would not go there by having Nick interested in someone who looks like his daughter– although Cassie was his adopted daughter not biological, the eck factor and the borderline incest should be enough for them not to have Nick go there or ask JM to go there as an actor with an actress he knew as a child. So fingers crossed this is a one way infatuation that will fade and that Mariah will eventually end up with Kevin

W-H-A-T?!?!? Mary…say it ain’t so!!!!! It’s one thing for that Mariah chick to look up to that dirtbag Ian as a father figure (or whatever). But…a possible Nick/Mariah pairing?!?!? H-E-L-L N-O!!!!! That is all kinds of C-R-E-E-P-Y!!!!! What is Y&R thinking here?!?!? B-L-E-C-H!!!!! As for Mariah ‘ending up’ with Kevin (or whatever)…I d-o-n-‘t t-h-i-n-k s-o. No. Kevin has gotten WAY TOO DORKY AND WAY TOO STUPID ever since Chloe left. If Y&R wants to put Mariah with someone…why not…say…Carmine??? I mean…Mariah is something of the town pariah and Carmine burned A LOT of bridges (or whatever) when he WENT ALL PSYCHO and kidnapped Lauren and held her hostage. Bottom Line Here: I think that Y&R should bring Carmine back, put him with Mariah and call it a (storyline) day. Period.

Oh great, someone else connected to the Winters family who SUCKS! Thank god its only two days!

Wow!! Good of him to pay homage to his beginnings. Wasn’t watching during his run but interested in seeing him in this role and the family dynamics.

Really don’t need any connection to the HilAnn character; enough of the faux connections and historical rewrites.

Holy toledo , this is must see tv , I can’t wait

Oh Baby girl say it is so!!! I love that man I truly do when he started the soap he was as green as they get and he came a long way he truly did! The best eye candy ever on daytime!!! The Keesha storyline he finally proved he could act with the big boys!

He needs to make sure he brings Drucilla back with him!!! She’ll wipe the floor with Hillary!! And hopefully, Olivia will make an appearance as well!!!!!!

First GT and now SM!!! JFP is making some smart casting moves. I almost look forward to nuAdam.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited!!!!!!

Victoria Rowell’s ceaseless rants all over social media will sadly make sure we never see the day of Drucilla’s return which bad writing or not I would have returned to this show. After the debacle of that Cosby kid or whoever it was..was it the Family Matters kid…as Malcom..a two day ratings boost stunt will NOT peak my interest to return to this hot mess.

Wow great news, I love Shemar Moore he is very sexy and a wonderful actor. I love Shemar on Criminal minds. Now bring back Leanna Love, I miss Barbara Crampton so much.

Be still my heart!!

Only if he comes back and announces that he’s dying from cancer. Then I’ll watch. Otherwise, pointless.

I won 10$ ..!!!
I Bet my friend that Y&R/JFP would copy GH and start to bering old vets back..
she fears GH on her heels and she has always been a copycat to get ratings when she can’t come up with something of her own she copies what works ahha..

It will be fun to see him on Y&R, again ..

Actually YR has brought back vets for years.

MAB did it ALL the time. Josh G continued it, and it’s never stopped since Ashley and Traci make appearance quite often.

GH won’t be catching YR in total viewers any time soon. Especially with Ron over at GH.

PatF is right. To accuse Y&R of copying GH on this point is way off base. Nina, Brock, Christine, Ashley and Traci (as PatF said), even John (as a ghost) … Y&R has always been good about bringing vets back for short appearances or story arcs.

ITA– all soaps bring back former characters at some point–either to promote the show, to boost ratings, or if story dictates it– there is nothing new here and no one is copying any one since they all do it. A few years ago Days when it was in slump had a bunch of vets return; by bringing characters such Carrie, Austin and Billie and more recently they had Shane and Kim on for a bit— they too were trying to lure in more viewers with vets– which is the point– they want people watching nothing sinister or desperate about it, just soaps being soaps.

Can’t wait, love Shemar!

bring back olivia as well. just because victoria rowell burned her bridges, aunt liv should still come back to consoul lily and neil. maybe a triangle with neil, and liv and leslies husband if they both work at the hospital? neil needs to roll with people his own age.
speaking of malcolm, whrs tyler! ?! shemar needed lots of acting help when he first hit genoa city but had so much potential!! rederick is the next shemar, pls dont let tyler go!!!!

I love him! He’s great on Criminal Minds! I only watched a few episodes of Y&R when it first started, so never saw him on the soap, but I knew he had come from a soap.

Then there’s that other gal on CSI? who was from All My Children. It’s great that soap stars can move on up, but I always look at them and think “hey, he’s from ….” Like Tommy Lee Jones for example, no matter how many movies I see him in, I always think “I remember when he was on One Life to Live as a doctor who hung out with Dorian Lord!”

Great news. Y&R needs all the love it can get right now. The Winters clan especially. Used to love them, now they’re FF material to me. I’ll watch for this vet’s return.

Shemar Moore and Kristoff St.John are gold together. The show failed miserably when they recast Malcolm with Darius McCrary, he did not fit the role at all, nor did he look like Neil’s YOUNGER brother. I would love to see SM play Malcolm every now and then (Like how Beth Maitland pops up every few months or so), after all he does work on another CBS show.

And he would do it to contrary to what everyone thinks the man does know Y&R gave him his start. I have never seen him nothing but gracious and kind to the daytime community.

Looking forward to his two day visit. I watch him on Criminal Minds.

It’s about time. I love watching him and I love him on criminal mind. What about Neal wife that died? Will she be coming back , we need some of the old crew back, except take Christine off, more she need to put on some pounds, she look older then Paul .

This thread is to notify all of you y&r fans!!

Your show is carbon copying GH…
I have been a longtime viewer….

I am seeing countless storylines depicted.!!!!!

I don’t see any originality since JFP boarded either!!!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?

The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’

Stay tuned for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy nominations tomorrow on Tuesday, July 14 to find out if GH will be going for gold in the category, once again.
