‘Sherri’ Shepherd Daytime Talk Show Canceled After Four Seasons
Hot on the heels of the news of the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier on Monday, comes word that another daytime talker is also making an exit.
Now, comedian Sherri Shepherd’s talk show Sherri is ending its run after four seasons. According to Variety, Lionsgate’s producer/distributor Debmar-Mercury confirmed the news.
Sherri had most recently been cleared through the 2025-2026 TV season on station groups: Fox TV Stations, Nexstar, Hearst, Sinclair, Gray, Tegna and Sunbeam. Season 4 production will continue as planned, with the series airing its final episodes into the fall.
Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said in a joint statement. “This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production – which has found strong creative momentum this season – or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd. We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”
Sherri, like The Kelly Clarkson Show, had been taping in New York City. Sadly for Shepherd, when her talker was renewed for season three last year, she expressed, “I don’t take it for granted that people welcome me into their homes daily. I work so hard to bring escapism to viewers’ lives through joy, laughter and inspiration, and I’m grateful that the audience has embraced what we do. I look forward to raising the bar and turning up the volume as we plan for our season four return.”
The comedian is also currently on her Make it Make Sense comedy tour with dates in comedy clubs Milwaukee to Atlanta from February through the middle of May, while continuing to finish out the talk show.
With the exits of Sherri and The Kelly Clarkson show comes this fall, that leaves The Drew Barrymore Show, Tamron Hall, and The Jennifer Hudson Show as the two remaining daytime talk shows in syndication.
So, what do you think about ‘Sherri’ being canceled and Kelly Clarkson exiting her talk show? Do you think syndicated distributors or networks will continue filling the time slots with a revival of a soap or a new one such as CBS did with Beyond the Gates, or do you think they will put on a news program, game show or another daytime talk show in their places? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section.
I am shocked about this. She is so funny. I was in the hospital once and her show came on and I laughed so hard the nurse thought I was nuts. Hopefully she will return in another format she is too good not to!
You are nuts.
Aww shucks you hurt my feeling
I feel sorry for Sherri, This show was a dream that she wanted, and it came true, now I’m sad to see it come to an end, it was such a joy to laugh with her and she gave me an escape from everything going on in the world right now.
These decision makers at the networks are insane. This was a refreshing, light-hearted show and a lovely escape from the depressing stuff these days. What is so awful about a show that makes people laugh and forget their troubles for a little while? I hope Sherri gets picked up somewhere else. I hope the network catches a lot of flack for this.
Don’t forget Tamron Hall!
This is a shocker. Sherri is so sweet and I loved watching her in the morning in Wendy William’s old timeslot.
Sherri her ratings were not good this season. Sorry her show is cancelled. Time to bring One Life To Live back for 30 minutes and All My Children Back for 30 minutes. Perfect opportunity do it now please ABC Redeem Yourselves.
This talk show’s ending has nothing to do with ABC or those two soaps.
Yes it does
No, it doesn’t. Sherri is a syndicated talk show, meaning stations pick it up per region. Whereas All My Children and One Life to Live are ABC properties. They’re two separate entities. Where you are, it may air on ABC, but I know here it’s on Channel 7 (an independent, non-main network channel).
