Some things never change in Twin Peaks, apparently! Same population as 25 years ago, same theme music, the iconic Twin Peaks sign, and some evil lurking in the final seconds of this just released promo from Showtime!  The cable network is teasing its 2017 offering of the revival of the quirky ABC soapy series that is currently in production.

Back is Michael Hoarse as Deputy Hawk!  In this teaser, Hoarse relates to the camera: “Location sometimes becomes a character.  There are a lot of holy places up here… sacred places.   It touches something in the psyche. It’s almost like being in a moving painting.”   Next after the Twin Peaks sign is unveiled, there is someone hazy in the video where the music changes to eerie.  Is it Leland Palmer/Killer BOB (Ray Wise) or could it be David Lynch himself?

The official promo states below it on You Tube:  “The critically-acclaimed, ground breaking television phenomenon Twin Peaks returns as a limited series to Showtime in 2017. Currently in production, Twin Peaks is written and produced by series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost and is directed entirely by David Lynch. While the full mystery awaits, fans can expect many familiar faces, including Golden Globe winner and EmmyAward nominee Kyle MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.

Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, Twin Peaks followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The town’s sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura’s killer, the town’s secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues…”

Watch the Twin Peaks promo after the jump! Let us know who you think is in the last shot:  Lynch, Leland? Someone else? Looking forward to the revival? Comment below!

If it’s Lynch, why would his character at the FBI be the guy at the end. It makes no sense. It could only be Leland. Wise was credited as a cast member at the end of the series after leaving after the conclusion of the Laura Palmer story. I am sure that 25 years later as stated in the finale, they would answer what Laura meant by “I will see you in 25 years.”

Never saw Twin Peaks when it originally aired. So I’m in the midst of watching the video that I got from the library. Wanted to be prepared for when the revival airs. Weird story, and Ray Wise at his best, strange self.

Oh, you are in for a real treat then, Rose! I remember relishing each and every episode of that outre’ odyssey into the inexplicable….the show was all the rage at school, and we would tape each episode and watch it over and over again in order to make any sort of sense of that inspired insanity. (That never happened….my advice is to just take it all in and enjoy the raucous ride into the ridiculous…forget about figuring it out!) Considering the show’s components of cutting-edge cinematography, colorful characters, stunning scenery, not to mention that haunting, mysterious soundtrack, this series is… Read more »

Peter Bergman Signs 5-Year Deal with The Young and the Restless

Some of the hottest news on Daytime Emmy night was the reveal that 23-time Daytime Emmy nominee, and 3-time Emmy-winner, Peter Bergman is staying put at The Young and the Restless for quite some time to come, in fact, at least five more years.

Bergman, who plays Genoa City staple, Jack Abbott, has inked a new five-year deal to stay with the CBS daytime drama series, which is a significant contract in the world of soaps.  The usual contact for actors is somewhere between one and four years, with thirteen-week or twenty-six-week cycle, if the show were to not pick up an actors option.

While Y&R has been renewed thus far through the 2024 TV season, it would seem this move to ensure Bergman is sticking around as the show moves past its 50th year on the air, is a vote of confidence by Sony Pictures Television and CBS that the top-rated daytime drama will live on.

Deadline first reported the contract news.  Peter joined Y&R back in 1989, after first successful soap foray on All My Children as Dr, Cliff Warner.

So, what do you think about Peter signing on for five more years at Y&R? Comment below.

Lamon Archey and Sal Stowers Exit Days of our Lives

Coming up on Days of our Lives, both Lani and Eli Grant will be written off the canvas to facilitate the departures of Lamon Archey (Eli) and Sal Stowers (Lani).

According to the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstands now, Archey who stepped into the role in 2017, has made the decision to leave the long-running NBC soap opera, and will last air the week of July 4.

As for Stowers, she will last air on Friday, July 1st, and given her current storyline, it looks like Lani, who has confessed to murdering TJ (William Christian), will either be sent to prison, or will exit Salem with Eli.

This would not be the first-time that Stowers has departed DAYS.  After her debut in 2015, she was off the Salem canvas for a six-month break in 2016, before returning to the show through 2022.
