Now here’s another real-life legend role that will be taken on by the one and only Judith Chapman.  As daytime soap fans know, Chapman has a massive resume on the soaps from Natalie on ATWT to Ginny on GH, to Diana and Angelique on DAYS, to Gloria on Y&R to roles on Ryan’s Hope, and more.

In the latest bit of casting news from Chapman herself, she will be seen in the role of former First Lady, Nancy Reagan in the new Will Smith film, King Richard based on the life of Tennis champs, Serena and Venus Williams, father, Richard Williams.

According to Yahoo News: Liev Schreiber has also joined the cast of the film.  Schreiber will play tennis coach Paul Cohen, a famous instructor who worked with several leading tennis players including John McEnroe and Pete Sampras, amongst others. The script has been done by Zach Baylin and depicts the story of Williams, who trained his two daughters to play tennis without having any prior knowledge of the sport and turned them both into Grand Slam winners and World No. 1 Players in the world.”

Chapman posted on her Facebook page: “Pleased to leak the latest … I will be playing “Just Say No” NANCY REAGAN in Will Smith’s new film..”KING RICHARD” about Venus & Serena’s Dad and their rise to Tennis Fame! Last year TALLULAH…HAH! The Life of an Actor!!”

She is so very long overdue to make any long of an appearance. Especially now since she is going to be a grandma again.

She is a very, very good soap actress. The woman has so much screen presence that I think she could simply read the phone book in a scene and keep the viewers interested. It dumbfounds me that the remaining soaps don’t hire (and heavily use) unemployed veteran soap actors like Judith Chapman and Elizabeth Hubbard (ATWT’s Lucinda Walsh). These folks have a proven history of not just acting talent but the ability to capture viewers’ attention. The overall quality of the shows has slipped in the past 15 years. Why they aren’t clamoring to get these people is beyond me.… Read more »

I wouldn’t mind seeing her come back to Y&R. Jack could use her right about now. I read that Greg Riccart is going back to DOOL. I like him as Kevin but not in the part he played on Days.

Tuesday’s episode of Days of our Lives had Eric Brady saying a sudden farewell to his loved ones before he departs Salem for Africa to help those in need.  That marks the on-screen departure of Daytime Emmy winner, Greg Vaughan who will last be seen on Wednesday’s episode.

As DAYS fans were aware, Greg wrapped his run months ago on the NBC daytime drama series, but since before the Covid-19 pandemic DAYS taped almost seven months ahead, Eric’s on-screen exit is airing this week.

The actor also posted a special photo album of pics with his longtime on-screen partner and love interest, Arianne Zucker (Nicole).  In that, he posted this message: “To my Ride or Die partner Ari!! Never a dull moment, laughing or crying, she was the party, always with a smile! Love ya #ERICOLE”

Cady McClain IN As DAYS Jennifer Temporarily Replacing Melissa Reeves

Rumors that have been swirling are confirmed true.  Cady McClain is coming to Salem and Days of our Lives to replace Melissa Reeves temporarily as the new Jennifer Horton Deveraux.  The casting news was confirmed by a Days spokesperson, according to Soap Opera Digest.

Daytime fans recall, Cady is a two-time Daytime Emmy winner and has previously appeared as Dixie on All My Children, Rosanna on As the World Turns and Kelly on The Young and the Restless.  McClain has already begun filming as Jennifer.

Reeves, who commutes from Nashville to Los Angeles to tape episodes of Days of our Lives, decided not to return to set when the NBC soap opera resumed production earlier this month due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic,

In addition, Melissa became a grandmother last month with her daughter Emily’s first child, and now soon will welcome her son Larry’s first child later this month, which is another reason Reeves chose to stay put in Tennessee.

So, what do you think of the Jennifer switcheroo? Excited to see what Cady brings to the role? Comment below.
