Sonny Corinthos Vs. Victor Newman! Would You Like To See The Ultimate Soap Smackdown? GH's Maurice Benard Would!

Courtesy/ABC
Over the last few times we have spoken formally with General Hospital’s superstar Maurice Benard, he has mentioned that he would love the chance to for his soap alter-ego Sonny Corinthos to go toe-to-toe with Genoa City’s Victor Newman in a soap crossover, somehow, someway!
Last night on Benard’s Twitter account, the uber-popular Daytime Emmy winner mentioned it again when tweeting, “Idk what was said but I respect @ebraeden & would love to see a faceoff between Sonny & Victor Newman. Theyd have to put me on 2 phone books.” Of course, Maurice was referring to his height difference to faceoff with Ole’ Vic as played by Daytime Emmy winner himself, Braeden.
So, would you like to see a Sonny Corinthos and Victor Newman showdown? A way for the two to crossover from Genoa City to Port Charles and back again? Or, perhaps a reviving of the “What-If” series with network soap crossovers online? And, if Sonny and Victor were to face-off in the tough guy category, who do you think would have the upper hand? Let us know!
I go for sonny all the way,my man
yea yea yea love my sonny
but love victor as well
it could be good soap opera storyline
That is asking an awful lot for TWO networks that have one foot out the door already for continuing soaps on their networks.
The only way Maurice is going to bring a mobster or bad guy personality to Victor Newman’s front door is to leave GH and have Jill give him a job … and we know she would in a heartbeat.
Do us a favor and go join Y&R!!!
sorry no way i am a 100% maurice fan, love sonny cornithos
and so does alot of other fans I guess, since abc just signed him a new
contract
they new better than to let him walk since steve burton chose to leave
just my opinion i love sonny myself
No way no Jose ..lol..stay on GH..lol…sorry
I think both actors could do a spoof online without referring to each other’s character by name. From my perspective, Sonny would win in the short term because he has henchmen in the shadows at all times. Also, Victor has a heart condition. Achilles Heel?
Why stop there, throw in Stefano from Days, and Eric from B&B and we can have a 4 way dance.
stefano yes with victor and sonny i can not see eric going toe to toe with either
but i do like him on b&b
one problem with b&b they have so much bed hopping everyday and its get old
after a while, but that is only my opinion
prefer gh, y&r and days to b&b but know bold and beautiful has large fan following and hope we can keep the last 4 soaps on air for a while
It seems like a fun idea at first but to be honest, without the promise of any redemption or radical change of course, the exercise would be futile. Sometimes, these anti-heroes do wear on me with their repetitive plot lines and the way they never seem to learn to be changed by the experiences.
In the soap reality universe Sonny and Victor would have no reason to battle each other, more than likely, Victor would hire Sonny to do a number on Jack or they would be business partners.
He needs to stay with GH and leave Y&R alone. There is no place for him Y&R and if JFP thinks there is, she is as ridiculous as MB wanting to come over. I wish Sonny would go away for ever. Tired of JFP making every show she is on all about her buddies. Look forward to CBS and Sony replacing her arrogant self.
That would be a hell of a lot of mumbling in one place! Closed captioning/subtitles would be an absolute necessity.
LMAO- its so funny, because it is so true- thanks you made my day Andy
LOL!!!! mumbling and card reading!!!
I know, I’ve read that about Sonny, and I don’t see that, but Victor on the other hand, YES!
Andy too funny for words !
Oh No, no no no. Two worse characters I can’t imagine, and in the same scenes together would be altogether too much. The whole place would smell like burning ham.
And between MB’s forgetting his lines, and EB mumbling his as he reads them off his ever-present cell phone, it would be more like a Saturday Night Live skit than anything else.
Fever dreams, MB. Take two acting lessons and call us in the morning.
mb and eb both can act circles around half the other actors on either show
that is why cbs and abc keep both the on air
and let us not forget they both have won emmys for the role they play
just my opinion
i love both mb and eb but mb is my fav
two narcissitic characters going at it? it would be never ending ego maniacs going at it and do we have that much air time to satisfied them? yikes!
Victor would win, hands down. He is much wiser and threatening than sonny.
Would LOVE to see these two egos go toe-to-toe (or phonebook to toe). Maybe they could do a “Funny or Die” skit. I think the fans would love it. Show a “human” side to theses larger than life characters. It would also bring some attention to their shows that might interest some lapsed fans.
Victor VS Sonny, Victor would win. Victor has more staying power. And I wouldn’t want Mo on Y&R, and I don’t even want him on GH. I’ve never been a fan of the actor nor his character. Sonny is a needy guy, a very needy guy. Stay on GH. And let Victor do his own work, without being interrupted from a no-good mobster.
This reeks of press/publicity for the two old horses…. dare i say this… i’m so over, Victor, Lording over his presence…. OK… i’m stubborn about no more Abbotts….,
someone posted above…. DAYS – Stefano / and ERic – B&B , now there’s two fine men.

At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
