Stephen Nichols Returns to Days of our Lives
Patch is coming back! Exciting news Days of our Lives fans. Fan favorite, Stephen Nichols is on his way back to the NBC daytime drama series.
Nichols was last seen on-air back in August of 2018. Stephen is already back at the set of DAYS filming news episodes.
According to Soap Opera Digest, there is exciting story ahead that is planned for Nichols, once he hits the Salem canvas.
He tells SOD on his surprise about being asked to come back to his soap opera stomping grounds, “I got the call about a month ago … (I said) to myself, ‘Well, I’ll be damned.”
So how do you think Steve will wind up back on the canvas? Will he be reunited with his sweetness (Mary Beth Evans)? Stay tuned, Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
Well, it’s about time! I was just watching the other day thinking, Kayla needs a story and would like Patch to return and pick up Stephanie and come back together. True, Tripp is his son, Patch needs to help raise his son better. It was all quite too much when Tripp came onto the scene and they killed off his mother and then as revenge he went after Kayla….so, now Tripp is “the way too nice guy”…and he needs structure in his life and priorities of his own. Tripp goes from being with Ciara, rebounding to crazy Claire and he is in a “relationship” with her yet, offers to marry Hailey. WTF! If my boyfriend asked me to step aside to help out a friend in a “fake” marriage – I would not be the boyfriend to go along with that. Tripp needs Patch is my point, he can be on the cusp to becoming a real man with a real sense of purpose, he’s established now in Salem and played by a good actor. He needs story and happy that the return of Patch is on the way. Steve coming back with Stephanie or a new Joey would facilitate actually story for Kayla. Right now, she’s going from University hospital to Bayview. And….we want to see the union with his brother Jack. We’ll get that but Jack may not be the old Jack just soon. If Eve is out of story for a while, it may take Adrienne, Patch and Jennifer & JJ to help Jack find his way back to his authentic self. So, the return of Patch is much needed and it is about time. Totally missed Stephen Nichols presence.
So happy. I’ll be back to watching the entire show again. I was done to watching Kayla scenes and some Jen scenes. Now praying for a good reunion story for my Patch and Kayla
this is great news !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!keep tripp too love patch and kayla days rules
It’s times like this that I really hate Days having a 6.66 month tape delay, because Steve needs to be back in Salem NOW helping his little brother Jack pull his head out of his rectal cavity, and get him away from that Abomination falsely calling itself “Eve”.
This is great news but since DAYS tapes almost 6 months in advance, we won’t see Patch back on our screens until late September. I never understood why the show is as far ahead in taping. That’s always bothered me.
I’ve seen this guy..
Why would he wear a pirate patch when he could have plastic surgery and an artificial eye?
He could absolutely look normal–
I see it as too stupid, being a pirate guy, and not taking care of it. LOL
Believe it or not, they actually lost the patch and gave him a glass eye for a while back in the latter years of his first run on the show.
The fans hated it, so they created some medical excuse of the eye socket being damaged and unable to hold a glass eye, and presto – the patch was back!
Now on the other horn, when they killed his good eye and replaced it with a bionic implant, I’m not sure why they couldn’t have installed two of them. Even if reconstructive bone surgery would have been required for the socket.
Not that bionic eyes are really a thing yet, but I can guess the excuse there was that after 30 years or so without an eye in that socket, there would be no optic nerve to attach it to…. seems like a plausible explanation to me, but I’m a Devil, not a doctor, so don’t quote me on that!
Thanks for the info, Satan
I did not know he has worn a patch for 30 years!!
That was nasty to write him as a one-eyed man (hmm why’d they that)
naww I’d never quote the devil LOL 🙂
heeeyy my Lucifer sings, and swoons me!
Guys
Iam so used to the patch, I could care less, but I wish he’d do something with his damn hair. I also hope as Satan said, that he can straighten out his brother, and get away from that witch Eve, and (sorry) send her Satan’s way.
Clearly, su, you do not have the emotional involvement with the Patch (and the Patch and Kayla) story and the relationship between the two actors. We long-time viewers cannot remove (nor do we wish to!) themselves from this emotional involvement. Simply put: we want always to see these two professional actors (and friends) to continue their unforgettable story line and interaction.
Hi Nancy..
awwww you’re a romantic lol
I do not know of their love story 🙁
Hey su!
I confess! 🙂 Guilty as charged!
Their love story is a “sweet” one!
Best news I’ve heard lately! Never should have been off the canvas at all. Of course, unite him with his “sweetness.” Best two characters on the show. They play so very well together and care so much about the integrity of their characters. Welcome home, Stephen–and Patch! 🙂
This is great news for DOOL fans. Once again, the fans have had to practically boycott the show before the powers that be listened. There was no reason for Kayla to keep drifting around in Salem without Steve. There are so many possibilities with Steve’s return.
I would love to see Joey and Stephanie brought back to the show and get rid of some of the storylines that are not working. The ratings are reflecting that fans are NOT taking to the Rex/Eric/Sarah storyline. Some of the fans are no longer recognizable, especially Hope. I was reading on another site that Hope was named Most Annoying Character and Most Boring Couple with Rafe. Make the corrections needed to restore some of these legendary characters. PLEASE no more Ciara kidnappings or held hostage (three times?), no more Marlena on her deathbed (Twice in six months?), drop the Will brain tumor storyline (boring), the Haley illegal immigration storyline and mayor’s race is not an escape from reality. If we want to hear about these topics, we will watch CNN.
Finally.
Loved him as Stefan Cassadine on GH. Back when GH was riveting in the 90’s. Now, it’s lackluster, boring.
Iam sure he will be welcome anywhere. I was kind of hoping he’d return to GC as Devon’s bio dad, in his time of need
Wise call! Hope they don’t give him a big story and then forget about him, as some are prone to do.
This is great news! Now if they could also bring back Jen Lilley and Charles Shaughnessy. And maybe Thaao Penghlis for a few ghostly visits.
Yeeeessss!! Great news!!
This is good news.I have always loved Steve
I have not been this happy in a long time. Hearing that Stephen is coming back to #Days just made my day, month, and year! I can’t thank #Days enough for recognizing that Patch is a critical part of it’s canvas and listened to their fans. Michael, please send a personal thank you to Ken for making us so happy. I am just grateful and delighted Stephen agreed to return so the #Stayla love story can continue. Please let Stephen decide to host his own part of the #Doolapp. I am also excited to see him on #MBsKitchen. Hopefully that can happen before he airs as Steve. :). Thank you!
PLEASE don’t come back with eye less
Patch no more AND FULL Embody- ment all of YOU
let’s see Steve and Kayla “DANCE” full time
eyes disclosed full warning
eye on

Rosie O’Donnell Says She Will Return to ‘The View’ During its Season 30

Rosie O’Donnell revealed that she plans to head back to a seat at the table of ABC’s morning talk show The View.
The announcement came during Monday’s episode of The Tangle Podcast where she shared she will participate in “in whatever way they want” her or “just as a guest” for its upcoming 30th season.
The View’s season 30 will kick-off this fall in September. O’Donnell explained, “They’re bringing back all the hosts, I think. And, you know, I’m pretty proud of that show, what it’s become and how it really speaks to the people and to politics.”

ROSIE ON HER PREVIOUS GO-ROUNDS ON THE VIEW
As fans of The View know, O’Donnell famously had two different one-year stints on the talk show in 2007 and again in 2014- 2015. She often feuded with then co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
However, during her discussion with host, Kyle Ridley on The Tangle Podcast, O’Donnell also noted she often had tense moments with longtime moderator and anchor, Whoopi Goldberg.
O’Donnell also expressed, “Many, many people got the short end of the stick there. It was, you know, it was a factory where people were being churned in and out and their tenuous security, nobody got to be calm. It also was a show at the time that was run by a man. A show created by a woman, for women, about women, and the man was deciding what we should talk about. And that didn’t sit right with me, you know.”
Back in 2023, Brooke Shields had asked Rosie on her podcast, Now What? with Brooke Shields, about how she felt on her two stints at The View and all the controversy that surrounded it. Rosie at that time, stated, “I know this, it’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness. It was not something I’d ever do again.”
You can check out the clip with Rosie and Kyle Ridley discussing her return to The View in some form for its upcoming 30th season below.
Then weigh-in: Would you be excited to see Rosie, even for a one-day or a week guest stint on the upcoming celebratory season of The View, or not so much? Let us know via the comment section.

Television Academy and NATAS Open Reunification Talks After Split Almost 50 Years Ago

In what could prove to be a massive shake-up ahead, both the TV Academy (ATAS), who presides over the Primetime Emmys, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), who preside over the Daytime Emmys, are in exploratory reunification discussions to merge the two organizations into one.
Both sides received an overwhelming vote and support from their boards to evaluate what a unified Academy could look like. However there is no formal calendar at this juncture for the discussions. In addition, because of the ongoing unification talks that should occur, the TV Academy board has voted to extend all current sitting Governors’ terms by one year so they can see the process through.
Boards at both organizations voted overwhelmingly to evaluate what a unified Academy could make possible: a strong vision for the Academy’s future, more effective thought leadership for the industry, broader service and support for members coast-to-coast, and new momentum and opportunities across the full complement of national Emmy competitions.

AFTER NEARLY 50 YEARS, CAN THE EMMYS BE UNDER ONE BANNER?
In a joint statement, ATAS and NATAS shared, “Television remains the most powerful medium we have to shape culture and prompt conversations that define us—no matter the size of the screen, With the business of television undergoing such a monumental transformation, this is the right moment to explore a reunification of our Academies, providing our members and our industry with a bolder voice advocating for them and a stronger partner to navigate the future with them.”
If the reunification talks continue, this would be the first time since the two Emmy organizations split back on June 30, 1977 that they have tried to come together, all of this after almost three decades of often uneasy and strained tension between the two.
The most recent joint change came in 2022 when a move of the game show categories went from NATAS to ATAS’ and now are in the Primetime Emmys.
Deadline notes that a unification of the two television academies who overall preside over nighttime and daytime programming would be similar how SAG and AFTRA used to represent performers from completely different dayparts of work.
Could the Daytime Emmys finally see some love in primetime and have their major categories televised as part of the annual kudofest every September? Stay tuned.
Meanwhile, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place live on Monday, September 14th starting at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT and air on NBC and stream on Peacock emanating from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. While, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will take place on Friday, October 30, time to be announced, live from the Hollywood Palladium and will be streamed on watchtheemmys.tv
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) is a service organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Awards for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime and Children’s & Family programming, as well as achievements in television Technology & Engineering.
The Television Academy (ATAS) strives to shape and advance the dynamic television landscape; cultivate a diverse, inclusive and accessible professional community; and advocate for the television industry while capturing the spirit of a new generation of content creators and industry professionals. Through innovative programs, publications and events, the Academy and its Foundation foster and empower storytellers. The Academy also celebrates those who excel in the industry recognizing their achievements through awards and accolades, including the renowned Emmy Award. Membership in the Academy is open to working professionals in the television industry.
So, would you like to see the Primetime Emmy and the Daytime Emmys fold into one show if the two unions reached a unification arrangement? Do you hope that after almost 50 years, the two organizations can finally make some serious headway? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
