Steve Burton Confirms His Exit from Days of our Lives
After much speculation, two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Steve Burton has confirmed he is done at Days of our Lives. The actor wrapped taping his final scenes just before the holiday break.
According to the website, DailyDrama.com, and his farewell video posted on You Tube (see below), Burton signed one-year contract with the Peacock streaming soap opera.
After his final scenes, Steve expressed in his video: “Well, I just shot my final scenes here on Days of our Lives and I just wanna say, thank you so much to the cast, to the crew. It’s been amazing. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. So thank you so much to the fans. It’s just, I’m always so full of gratitude. So thank you. Stay tuned.”

Since Days tapes six months in advance of air, viewers can expect to Steve as Harris Michaels through at least the late spring. That means his current storyline with Tamara Braun (Ava Vitali) should extend through the spring season.
Steve joined the mothership and Days of our Lives for the second time in his career, following his appearance in the Days of our Lives limited series Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem: Part Two back in the summer of 2022. Later in 2023, he returned to the main show, for the first time since 1988 when he first played Harris.

Burton is best-known for his role as Jason Morgan on General Hospital. He was let go from the series in November of 2021, amid the Covid-19 pandemic and the ABC and GH vaccine mandate. At that time. Steve decided not to take the vaccine.
At the time of his dismissal, he shared on Instagram, “Maybe one day if these mandates are lifted, I can return and finish my career as Jason Morgan. That would be an honor.”
So, what are your thoughts of Steve being done at Days of our Lives? Should GH consider bringing him back as Jason? Will they bring him back? Comment below. But first, check out his farewell video on his exit from Days of our Lives.

I like him so much better at DAYS! Such a shame that he did not extend his time. I just don’t see a place for him on GH at this point!
I absolutely PRAY this does not mean he’s returning to General Hospital, even though Nathan Varni teased an announcement during tomorrow night’s ABC primetime special. And now I feel as if this could be that announcement.
Jason will return to GH. Bet your soul on it. I just hope they can avoid getting cancelled before then.
Oh come on, no doom and gloom now. I’ve always liked Jason’s way of making us feel safe and secure and as I’m one of the few that likes Drew/ Cameron Jason will be there to ease Carly and everyone’s pain over losing Bobby. On another note, just wonder if Dante will welcome him back as much as everyone else.?
Well, they also need to bring Lulu out of veggieland, and once that happens, Dante will be saying “Sam who??”. So that’s an easy problem to solve. And Charlotte could really use her mother right about now, of course.
Burton and Monaco lost the chemistry connection during his last stint. Would they really try for JaSam 4.0?
It’s not really so much that they “lost it” but rather, they were never really allowed to try again. And that’s not even since he came back in 2017, but pretty much the day the Valentini/ReRon regime took over in February 2012. One of the OLTL puppets switched out a live baby Danny for a dead Manning baby, and while Jason & Sam struggled to deal with that apparent loss, the vampire cop inserted himself between them (and not in a fun kind of way). By the time this was all resolved, Jason, Sam, and Danny had literally one day together before Faison shot him in the back & kicked him off the docks.
So yeah, I think they should get an ACTUAL chance at a reunion. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. But they can’t say they actually got a chance to try in the last 12 years.
Respectfully disagree. They had Sam drop OG Drew for Jason fairly quickly when it was revealed Burton was Jason. They looked like they barely enjoyed being in scenes together shortly after that.
Although it was short-lived, the Jason/Britt pairing showed he still had the charm. Meanwhile, Monaco has really perked up since Sam’s pairing with Dante.
Luke & Laura had an expiration date as did Jason & Sam and Sonny & Carly.
They would never cancel GH
He should come back!! Kudos for standing up for your integrity and right for choice!
He’s definitely on his way back to GH!
GH never killed Jason off, so yes, it’s time to bring Jason back to GH. He never should have been left go to begin with, and Jax, as well. If someone didn’t want to vaccinated, that was their right!
The vaccine mandates were an ABC/Di$ney corporate decision. Steve wasn’t happy about it, but all indications are that he left on good terms with Frank Valentini & the other “suits” at GH, so now that the mandate is over, there should be no problems with his return.
On the other horn, Ingo stirred up a bunch of bigoted dragonshit in “social media”, and started a bunch of bogus lawsuits, just like his Orange idol would have done. So he didn’t just burn bridges, he nuked them. I don’t see him ever coming back, and he probably isn’t getting work anywhere else for a while, because his bigotry is well known.
He was good as Harris. Loved him with Tamara
GH would be crazy not to pick him up!! Look how their rating would soar!!!
GH was crazy to make him go to begin with. GH is not the same without him
At first when they were at Bayview, the scenes jumped off the screen! Then, of course, the writers put them in a hum-drum storyline and that’s that.
I never thought I’d say I’ll miss Steve Burton, but, I will. Good Luck with the future!
PLEASE return, Sonny needs you, WE need you!
Uh oh. I have always sworn I would give up GH if I were forced to endure the return of Jason. Looks like my days watching may be numbered.
I liked him at Days but its pretty obvious he is going back to GH where he was one of the major stars of the show. GH appears to have found favor with the brass at Disney again because they are pulling out all the stops for the show and bringing back all the familiar faves. A daytime soap with a prime time special – its almost like the 80’s again.
Please bring Jason back, it hasn’t been the same, Sonny needs you, we need you…
I love Stevie stay on Days tho!
Please bring Jason Morgan back
Personally, I liked him as Dylan on Y and R much more than his portrayal of Jason on GH. Nikki needs her son to come out of witness protection, Sharon needs to have him jolt her out of the coffee house, and would love for Avery to return for Nick. New Year wishes for 2024…
Over rated and a diva god he needs help the thing he did to his arm please call the shrink ward !! I quit GH when they destroyed Billy miller and will never watch again never
That arm tattoo does make it difficult for Burton to play Jason Q (if he ever got his memory back) or Drew in flashback scenes.
I think Jason coming back tonight will be the surprise announcement. I think that Brennen kidnapped him for Pikeman and brainwashed him and he is now part of Pikeman and will hit Port Charles as Sonny’s number one enemy. I wish they would have Ted King come back as Alcazar and have him be Pikeman and Brennen just a part of Pikeman. But Alcazar not being dead and getting the ultimate revenge on Sonny by brainwashing Jason and having him take his business and send him to jail would be a delicious storyline. I think that one of the reason’s that they let Roger Howarth go beside the fact that they wrote a horrible character for him to play with Austin is because they were trying to free up money to get Steve back.
Yes the pathetic excuse for an actor want to ask him about selling juice at fan events ?? I can’t stand him and I will always respect Tristan Roger’s for calling him on it! TR was the draw always
Pikeman kidnapping Jason would ONLY make sense if it was Alcazar running the operation. You might remember that Jason was said to have killed Alcazar, though nobody actually saw it happen. And of course there were later reported sightings of Alcazar in South America, as well as a record of bank transactions being made from there. Though it was never said so on the record, my theory is that Jason told Alcazar he could live, as long as he never set foot in Port Charles again, and that Jason did do, because his “sister” Skye was married to Alcazar at the time, and it’s just not good business to kill family members… whether you like them or not.
On the other horn, should Alcazar have the opportunity to “return the favor” and keep Jason away from his family… and cripple Corinthos Coffee, LLC at the same time, he would certainly take it.
I don’t believe Brennan is in charge of Pikeman. He might well be the leader of an internal coup within the WSB that took over that organization, and is very comfortable with “black ops”, but even that type of intelligence operation would want to leave a level of “plausible deniability” between themselves, and the mercenary group actually carrying out those “black ops”.
Don’t want Jason to be brainwashed though. They just ended the idiotic amnesia plots with Ned & Esme, and Charlotte’s tarot card brainwashing is still an issue. It also seems like something might have been knocked loose in Drew’s brain when he got his prison beatdown. So I’d say GH has already reached their quota of “memory issues” for a while.

I’ve been holding it for decades, and I fully intend to do whatever I can to make it happen. We’re engaged in trying to make it happen. And you know, we’ll see. I know we both want to do it.” Marcy simply nodded and responded “Amen.”

‘Days of Our Lives’ Officially Confirms Ryan Quan Returning as Co-Head Writer Beginning in July

There is definitely a shake-up going down at the writing team at Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. Now, the long-running soap opera has confirmed, what has been previously reported, that current General Hospital breakdown writer, Ryan Quan is heading back to his old stomping grounds in Salem. This time as the series co-head writer.
The appointment of Quan comes with the official news that current co-head writer, Paula Cwikly, who was previously rumored to be departing the series, is not. She is staying with the soap opera and transitioning to a consultant role with the show. Now, Quan will join current co-head writer, Jeanne Marie Ford to steer the ship for the characters on the canvas.
On Wednesday, TV Insider, reported the official confirmation and that Quan will return to DAYS next month in July. In a statement to the outlet, executive producer, Ken Corday expressed, ‘We are lucky to have Ryan back in the fold. THE FUTURE OF DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Since Days of our Lives unusual production schedule tapes ten-months ahead of air, the new creative team’s vision led by Quan and Jeanne Marie Ford are not expected to stream on Peacock until mid-2027.
Days of Our Lives is currently renewed through its 63rd season. The former NBC soap opera which transitioned to Peacock in September of 2022, celebrate its 60th anniversary in November of 2025.
The writing regime change comes after NBCUniversal Media Chairman Matt Strauss revealed that Peacock is expected to turn a profit for the first time in the current quarter, punctuating their investment with the enduring soap opera on its platform.
As for Quan, his knowledge of Salem is tremendous. Ryan joined Days of Our Lives as a writer’s assistant in 2007 after some time over at Passions. He then spent two decades and held every position on the writing team where he previously served as co-head writer from 2016-17 alongside Dena Higley.
Later, when Ron Carlivati took over as head writer for 7 years in 2017, Quan became his right-hand man and main story consultant for his deep knowledge of the history and the legacy of the show. After Carlivati exited the show in 2024, General Hospital hired Quan in 2025.
So, what do you think about DAYS making it official with Ryan Quan as the new co-head writer of the series alongside Jeanne Marie Ford. What do you think about the fact we won’t see the changes on-screen till 2027? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order

In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.
The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

Photo: ABC
In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS
The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.
Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear. The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.
It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.
So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
