Susan Lucci lands new gig as host of "Deadly Affairs" on real life crimes of passion!

In a sort of clever way to utilize Susan Lucci’s soap experience, the actress and All My Children soap icon has signed on to host and narrate “Deadly Affairs,” a new prime-time series airing on Investigation Discovery Channel. The show will explore true stories of romance gone wrong and the crimes of passion that resulted, the network announced Thursday. Filming of the 10-episode season is expected to begin in March, with its premiere slated for this fall.
Lucci described to the Associated Press, the show being about deceptive love relationships, love triangles and betrayal that have deadly consequences, and they end in tragedy.
Susan went on to say, “Every day you hear these stories and you think, ‘Oh, my goodness!’ Then they disappear. You don’t know what happened next, and you don’t know why they happened. I’m hoping that, in exploring them, we’ll shed some light on human nature. As Erica, I got punished for my wrong deeds. I wound up in jail several times, even in a blood-stained ball gown. But with ‘Deadly Affairs,’ these are not characters on a soap opera. This is real life.”
Describing her new show as a “real-life soap,” she called her hosting role “a perfect match,” adding, “I couldn’t help but smile” after getting the series offer. When asked about the soaps and her run on AMC, Lucci revealed, “I miss Erica tremendously. That’s the same thing I hear from people I meet.”

‘All My Children’ Movie Writers for Lifetime Revealed: Ron Carlivati, Jamey Giddens and Leo Richardson
This week began and as reported with a spotlight article on Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos and how their production entity, Milojo, has been teeing up the All My Children reboot with Lifetime.
The L.A. Times featured the married couple, co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark, and former All My Children cast members (where they met and fell in love) about their plans to bring two All My Children movies to Lifetime and how they are working with the Agnes Nixon estate to make it come to fruition,
On Wednesday, it was revealed by Daytime Confidential, that All My Children reboot producer, Andrew Stearn handpicked none other than Ron Carlivati (ex-head writer, One Life to Live, General Hospital and Days of our Lives) and Jamey Giddens (who is the new co-head writer of The Young and the Restless, following his tenures on the writing teams of Beyond the Gates and Days of Our Lives), as the two scribes who will bring the first of two of Kelly and Mark’s All My Children movies to the page.

RON CARLIVATI AND JAMEY GIDDENS CONFIRM THEIR BOARDING THE ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIE PROJECT
The second installment is said to be written by primetime writer Leo Richardson whose credits include: Star, Katy Keene and more recently the Penn Badgley (ex-Phillip Chancellor IV, The Young and the Restless) starring series, You.
Richardson also wrote for three years on the U.K.’s long-running soap, EastEnders. All My Children revival fans will recall Richardson’s name was attached as the writer for the first incarnation of the All My Children movies, entitled, Pine Valley.
Ron Carlivati took to X and confirmed he is indeed boarding the All My Children movie project. Carlivati shared, “So excited to share this news! Thanks to Andrew Stearn, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Albert Bianchini and the Agnes Nixon estate for entrusting Jamey Giddens and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime! Stay tuned!”

Jamey Giddens confirmed DC’s announcement by taking to his account on X and expressing, “I’ve been booked and busy in 2026. Thanks to Andrew Stearn, the Agnes Nixon estate, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos for entrusting Ron Carlivati, and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime!”
Some fans seemed to question how Giddens could be writing for the first All My Children movie at Lifetime, when he is the new co-head writer at The Young and the Restless with Dan O’Connor. Jamey answered that head on via X and explained, “We turned in our All My Children script months ago. My sole focus as of this past Monday, is Genoa City, Wisconsin! #YR”
ERICA KANE, MARIA SANTOS AND HAYLEY AND MATEO SANTOS TO APPEAR IN THE ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIE REVIVAL?
In the planned stories, Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane and Eva LaRue’s Maria Santos will be two characters whose lives we will get to see for the first time since the series was canceled by ABC back in 2011 after 41 years on the air. As well, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos confirmed they will make brief appearances on-screen; one could assume as Hayley and Mateo Santos.
“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos to the LA Times. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”

‘All My Children’ Revival Updates: Lifetime EVP Speaks on Why Proposed Movies are Great Fit, Mark Consuelos Wants To ‘Give Back’ to Fans
The All My Children revival via movies at Lifetime is still in the works from former series stars and marrieds, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, through their production company, Milojo.
The co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark were featured this week in a Los Angeles Times article which detailed their efforts to bring some of the citizens of Pine Valley back to your screens.
As previously reported, and reaffirmed by the L.A. Times, the All My Children movies will be set in the present day and focus on what beloved characters such as Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Maria Santos Gray (Eva LaRue) are doing now. In addition, Kelly Ripa confirmed that she and Mark Consuelos will also appear on screen briefly most likely appearing in their signature soap roles as Hayley and Mateo Santos.

ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIES BRING NOSTALGIA THAT CAN BE MADE TO FEEL NEW AGAIN
Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president and head of programming for A&E, Lifetime, and Lifetime Movie Network said of the All My Children reboot, “Lifetime is always interested in shows that kind of tap into a powerful nostalgia that can be made fresh for today’s audience. There’s a whole generation of women that have missed these stories and these characters.”
As for working with Kelly and Mark on the Lifetime movie versions of the soap, “They’re exactly the kind of partners you want at a brand,” expressed Bryant. “They’re trusted voices because every day they’re talking to their audience, which, a lot of times, is our audience. They bring a real credibility and have an authentic point of view. You meet Kelly and Mark and kind of what you see is what you get, and I think they bring that same authenticity to their development standards.”
Albert Bianchini, executive producer for Milojo, says he knows All My Children is so wildly popular with the fans of daytime. That was punctuated when seeing it in person, and how the energy was off the charts back in January of 2025 when Kelly participated along with Susan Lucci, former head writer, Lorraine Broderick and casting director, Judy Blye Wilson in a conversation with Andy Cohen at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

“I’ve never seen a crowd like that in my life. People were lined up around the block, recalled the Bianchini. “Everyone wanted to know, ‘When is (All My Children) coming back? We want more.’ We got to see that in real life and Kelly got to feel it in real life, and it made so much sense. I just know that the minute it gets out in the world, people will want more and more and more. There’s just a love there.”
Kelly Ripa added that they are, “working closely with Bob and Sarah Nixon, who are also serving as producers.” She recalled, “She (Agnes Nixon) was so far ahead of her time. She covered topics that weren’t being covered. It was extraordinary the audiences that the show drew, and she served them real stories that were affecting Americans across the country but weren’t necessarily being represented anywhere.”
“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”
THE CANCELLATION AND STOPS AND STARTS OF ALL MY CHILDREN REBOOTS
All My Children aired on ABC from 1970 to 2011. It got a second chance at life when Prospect Park resurrected the show and brought it to The OnLine Network and Hulu for one season in 2013.
Recently, the series made a return through the estate of Agnes Nixon and is streaming internationally on BEONDTV and through their partnership with PlutoTV Canada with episodes starting in 1995. Fans hope original episodes will some day soon be available in the U.S. as well, but that could prove more difficult since ABC owns the rights to the episodes stateside.
Now 13 years later, while there is no word yet on a definitive production start date to the two movies at Lifetime, all the people involved seemed determined to make it come to life.

Starting on May 1, All My Children fans in Canada will be able to see classic episodes of the beloved former ABC soap opera when they stream on Pluto TV Canada.
Pluto TV picked-up the All My Children Channel that the Nixon family has created in partnership with BEONDTV +. The show which aired for 41 years on ABC and ended on the network in 2011, had so many memorable storylines and characters; the least of which is the enduring run of Erica Kane played by soap icon, Susan Lucci.
As previously reported, starting with episodes from the year 1995, which was the 25th anniversary of the soap. Pluto TV Canada viewers will be able to catch 8 episodes on repeat per day. With the success of the venture, the Nixons are hopeful that they will bring viewers many more years of the show to come.

In addition, 0ne week ago, during Susan Lucci’s visit to Los Angeles promoting her book La Lucci, she was joined by her former Pine Valley castmates, Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee, AMC, now Taylor, B&B) and Eva LaRue (ex-Maria, AMC) and the trio posed for a pic. At that time, LaRue shared via Instagram, “NEW All My Children channel streaming classic episodes 24/7 now on Pluto TV Canada! Fingers crossed to watch soon on Pluto US.”
That was also confirmed this week by TV Watercooler’s Jeevan Brar who took to X and expressed, “The All My Children channel begins streaming this Friday, May 1 on Pluto TV Canada.

Watch the I d channel all the time when I m not watching the soaps (guess Ill be watcing it at 2oclock next monday) anyway I like to see the bad guys get caught,happy for her, will look forward to seeing this new show in the fall. sad to see the cast of all my children go here and there ,at least there working .It just makes it more final that all my children is never coming back.
I love the ID channel too. It will be a good alternative Monday afternoon. I, for one, will be popping my vcr tape in & just letting Llanview play. I recorded every show since Nov. 23 to play at work (one girl office & that’s me) when I normally watch. Just to hear the theme music & the voices of my dear friends in the background of my day will help me, even if I’ve seen the show. You are right though, while we are glad for the cast to be working it is sad & hard for them to be scattered & to feel the finality of it. I loved AMC too.
Nice for Susan, I’m a fan. But right now, the spotlight belongs on OLTL and not Susan, as OLTL didn’t take any of the spotlight away from Susan NOR, AMC and its finale. I don’t know when this was made public, BUT I sure hope it wasn’t made public today. Don’t want to hear about it. This is OLTL’s movement. And when she narrates this show, I will be there to support, but no interest today, tomorrow or this weekend. I’m in mouring.

on direct tv the channel is 285,Im in florida I use to live in new york .close to buffalo.I miss it ,I really miss the snow ,live with kelly is on the fox channel down here ,heather said that abc owns live with kelly we are also boycotting anything abc has on other networks.remember when kelly was told by abc to shut up about the canceling of the soaps ?never understood why,because it was on fox down here,thats when I found out abc owns the rights to that show.Its confusing ,anyway good thing because I dont watch shows like that,I have moved from new york to florida 3 times,and its a pain in the ass,I hate moving .
Do you know what I just read ? I read, Than December 2.2011, Disney announced that Brian Frons Is Leaving abc Jan. 2012 !!!!!!!! He Fired Jill Farren Phelps, and demoted Head writer at GH…Then Stepped Down!!!!!!! After all of the Lives he ruined,..at AMC..OLTL!! He did All of this Damage and Disney allowed it…and Now He WALKS AWAY!!!!!!!
He had told cast of AMC the only way to save the soap was to move to LA, take pay cuts..so They did…Many actors sold their homes at a great LOSS.!! .Moved..and They lost their Jobs, Homes, Everything..after they relocated their Families…Up-rooted their entire Lives!

If you’re going to Disney World, you might not be able to watch General Hospital. The ABC affiliate in Orlando, Florida, has announced that it is giving away GH’s timeslot to a new talk show — and not the one from Katie Couric.
In announcing the signing of Kate Couric to a new talk show earlier this year, ABC also made the secondary announcement that it would be giving an hour of its daytime lineup back to local affiliates. While it wasn’t immediately clear what that would mean for General Hospital, a disturbing new scenario has emerged due to the actions of one of ABC’s affiliates.
Orlando’s ABC station, WFTV, has announced that it will begin airing comedian Steve Harvey’s new talk show in General Hospital’s timeslot beginning in the fall of 2012. In Orlando, Katie Couric’s talk show, Katie, will be airing on a non-ABC channel.

I think you’re confusing Katie Couric’s talk show as being a ABC show. Katie’s talk show, while produced by ABC, will be a syndicated show, not a ABC network show like General Hospital, The Revolution, The Chew, OLTL and AMC.
Katie’s talk show can air on a CBS, NBC or FOX afflilate in some markets instead of a ABC station. ABC plans to give away the 3:00pm timeslot to all of its local stations in September regardless whether they air Katie ot not. WFTV said that they will not air Katie and will air another syndicated program instead. Katie probably will still air in Orlando but it will be on either a CBS, NBC or a FOX station.
If General Hospital replaces The Revolution, it will still air in Orlando just as it will in the rest of country.

Yes, ABC owns Live with Kelly, but as a syndicated show just like Katie’s future show meaning that Live with Kelly does not necessarily have to air on a ABC channel even if it is produced by ABC.
I agree with you barbara t that giving General Hospital’s timeslot to the local stations is utter stupidity on the part of ABC, especially that Katie’s talk show is not even network show.
Just air Katie’s stupid talk show at 4:00pm when all the other syndicated shows air.

I will NEVER forgive abc OR OLTL for screwing over Robin Strasser!!!! So I was going to continue to watch abc, JUST NOT from 1 to 3pm. Now, I will ONLY WATCH abc to support GH and then the channel gets changed like other people on this site has said they will do. Totally de-program abc off my channels, including the news.

If I were abc, I would have a low self esteem. These people on here are funny, yet dead serious about what they say about abc. None the less, it is funny when U are reading these post and everyone is ranting and raving about this channel, saying all kind of things. I found myself responding to someones post saying something rather poetic about abc, sonce I read it back. I just hope you all put the effort into keeping the FIGHT alive with petions, sending soap to abc in nyc., petitions like Facebook, Disney vs. Cable, boycott of abc, before GH and after, and call Disney 818 460 7477 and complain. Barbara, I responded to your post SAME day February 1, when U originally wrote it. (Before I sent it, I copy/paste it to my email) just in case when I submitted the post, it wouldn’t take and would go blank, and so it did. So, I am at my friends using there computer AS when I sent a post 2weeks ago, that made the page, otherwise NOT. Please let Michael know how much you and others enjoy my post and points of view, so that he can check his server. U might want to keep a copy of your note to Michael so that U dont have to write it each time U re-submit it. Can’t depend on him seeing each psot that comes through bc there are so many. I have missed corresponding with you so much! I have tried to write you on numerous ocassions and post comments but as U posted, U come back to the site and your post is gone ( I read that when U posted it). Other times, I press submit and it just goes BLANK. I dont know what the ****! Like you stated, U are “always polite and never cuss” and me too, and I put so much into thought to these posts. It has been really fustrating. I however still have been enjoying your post and look for them. LOL In fact when I read what U wrote to me above, I giggled. I thought U found a new best friend in Heather. Thanks for remembering me. Mayb you can post to Michael 2/3/4 timess and let him know (1loves) problem so that it can be corrected. well at least you are still there ,gee I was beginning to think you did slip on a bar of soap,I dont think your posts are being dropped ,the ones at dealine were for me ,I gave that vincent hanna hell ,so did a few others from facebook ,he insulted us because we are soap fans ,in other words we are idiots ,so I and a few others let him have it back and he would not post it several times ,he couldnt deal with the truth about himself ,he can get rid of the posts as you said freedom of speech he can dish it out but cant take it,so I wont go to deadline anymore ,not if vincent hanna only allows his side but no one elses,yesterday almost all day this sight was down for some reason,I was going nuts,scott is mad at me ,he thinks I dont like him,and thats not true all I want him to do is give gh a chance.anyway I dont think he wants me to post to him anymore ,I liked to hear his side of things ,but I guess he didnt like mine .can you believe abc s putting on all these stupid soaps on in prime time?and I dont like what ingo said about the writers ,maybe he is mad that hes not going back,back to michael maybe the posts were dropped and now the problem is fixed,heather said that everything one life to live is destroyed.thats sad,still e mailing and calling abc ,good that your back.

While there can only be one Erica Kane, there can also be no denying that Susan Lucci is a woman of so many talents. She owned the soapwaves on “All My Children”, Erika Slezak ruled gloriously on “One Life To Live”, and Kimbrely McCullough grew up on “General Hospital”. I am nowhere close to giving up on my fight for Agnes Nixon’s legal rights, the soap opera genre, the continued employment of thousands of Americans, but I only wish Susan Lucci the absolute best for all her future life. She is woman. Hear her roar!

I miss AMC especially but both soaps. It seems like a bit of history has died, part of our past that we thought we could count on. To the poster who worried about Lucci stealing OLTL thunder I don’t think it was on purpose with the announcements of Deadly Affairs. Sadly, though in the case of OLTL they ahve the amazing Erika Sleazak using Lucci’s name helps he genre of all soaps. I am sick and tired of the whining Lucci can’t act or people just making nasty comments that they hopefully would never say or do normally. It seems to me clear Lucci can act as we have seen her in various tv roles but it always come back to money and popularity. So no matter what role we see her in , the people who do the hiring want the iconic Erica Kane and not necessarily Susan Lucci. They want that character it has been in the character of all the roles Lucci has played from Dallas to her multiple top rated tv movies even to Dancing with the Stars and Hot In Cleveland where the “character” Susan Lucci is really Susan Lucci playing Erica Kane who is Susan Lucci but in real life (Susan is not Erica Kane but the perception is she ought to be – which shows I guess she can act not th at we should go into defending that or having to defend it – she’s been on for over 40 years she had to have some talent). Now Lucci is on Army Wives and in a pilot – Devious Maids. I still don’t understand how she can do both prime time if they are both filming in March. Although I think both shows would be wise to work something out as it could be good pr for both. Besides she stars on deadly affairs but is a supporting character I think on Devious Maids – as she wasn’t cast as a maid who are of course the focus. I think it would be good to see Lucci in prime time not only has she earned it she would be great – though my bias would be for a comedy.
I watch the ID channel all the time, however I find myself not watching the ones Susan lucci is on. She ruins it for me. Never cared much for her acting. Too fake
Hopefully you are the minority. But I fear we will lose Deadly Affairs. And it looks like Amc and OLTL are being phased out once again.
