BREAKING NEWS: Emma Samms returns to General Hospital!

Hot on the heels of the recent announcements of the big returns of Tristan Rogers and Finola Hughes as Robert and Anna Scorpio to General Hospital, now comes word they will be followed into Port Charles later in February by none other than Holly Sutton Scorpio, played by the beguiling Emma Samms!
TV Line once again broke this GH scoop citing this info: “While Tristan Rogers and Finola Hughes are both returning to GH as part of Kimberly McCullough’s (Robin) exit storyline, Samms will resurface in late February for the purpose of helping Luke and the Spencer clan — including her own son Ethan — deal with the always-scheming, always-present Helena Cassadine.”
Looks like there may be plenty to take a look at and bring some much needed eyeballs back to the lone ABC soap, with the arrival of the old fab guard of the 80’s and the news of the move of the Mannings and John McBain from Llanview to Port Charles.
Who knows who else might appear from who knows where? What do you think of Emma coming back to her old stomping grounds for another dose of drama? Let us know!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.
Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.
As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY
Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.
Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS
Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.
In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Courtesy/ABC
Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”
So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.

They say that they are going to cut costs to make GH profitable but all they’re doing is increasing costs by increasing the cast of GH (which is already big as it is).
Holly Manning has a good sound to it.
Love that!
Umm no. That is just wrong. Plain wrong. Besides they stuck Holly with a rapist once, two would be a bit much. Robert and Holly Scorpio were made for each other. They belong together.
GH – Luke raped Laura
OLTL – Todd raped Marty.
I dont think they are going to make heros out of rapists any more ,its just wrong ,even though I forgave luke and todd.Only because they are characters in a story.if this was the real world, i say ,lock them up and throw away the key,and never ,ever, let them out.
I’m excited but nervous … we’ve been burned twice in the last decades by a regime who crapped all over Holly’s character!
Amen.
Love it!! Can’t wait to see Emma and Tristan back on screen together again.
I hope to convince ethan to stay.and forget about that girl at the cassidine castle.boring ,and olivia ,I hope she kicks that girls ass that is annoying steve and her .there thats two more people to get rid of in port charles. And where is luke ?before you know it ,it will be vacation time for him.I am looking forward to emma samms in port charles.
lol, i agree w/ ou for th most part, but i’m curious about the cassadine castle storyline now that its finally airing, they teased us so long that Garin Wolf lost any hope and his position as head writer (for taking an eternity to deliver) I hope at least the storyline plays out.
that girl there is annoying ,her personality ,I dont like it ,I really like ethan ,I would hate to have him stuck with her.but at least he is getting a story and maybe he wont leave.and I did see luke today.
GH cannot but improve with the return of these veterans and the additions from OLTL. Its ratings should improve to at least that of OLTL. Ratings for the week of December 26-30, 2011 (Compared to Last Week/Compared to Last Year):
Total Viewers
1. Y&R 5,085,000 (+158,000/-201,000)
2. B&B 3,416,000 (+64,000/+138,000)
3. OLTL 2,897,000 (+279,000/+52,000)
4. DAYS 2,711,000 (+330,000/-124,000)
5. GH 2,427,000 (+99,000/-670,000)
I love Tristan and Finola and cant wait to see them on screen again. This is the best news for GH and I am so happy for them.
i second that!
Does this bother anyone else that we are bringing back oldies which don’t get me wrong I enjoy, but this looks like a sinking ship. Maybe I am wrong. I liked Emma Samms but only with Robert.
don’t be negative yet, let be positive, if we all want GH to stay on the air lets watch and stay hopeful .
Yes, I did prefer Robert with Holly. But Emma Samms left and never came back and it was fitting for Robert to be with Anna, being Robins mother, PLUS they did have good SB arg chemistry/ like the husband wife ole show, Hart to Hart. Robert and Holly was just like a Prince and Princess together.
I always thought Robert & Holly were very Thin Man, personally. Perfectly matched, totally in love, and made marriage fun and interesting. Plus, they really knew how to bring the sexy and romance!
I’m more excited to hear she will be coming back than I am about all the OLTL characters coming aboard (there’s even a rumor that 2 more will be announced soon). Instead of all the OLTL actors I would have rather seen the return of Jaxs, Nikolas, Lucky, and Robin staying put. Are the new writers really so lazy they have to import characters they know instead of writing for the wonderful actors that are already on GH?
Exactly.
Especially Howarth, who walked away from the role more times than people can count, and everyone is on the unemployement line, including (Victor) Trevor St. John, EXCEPT Roger Howarth (Todd).
im not crazy about brenda, there were times I like her and times I didnt ,the last time she came back was waisted, and her coming back did nothing to boost the ratings.I think the brenda, sonny, story died a long time ago ,I do like sonny with carly.and I agree with you liz has become very boring ,thats why general hospital needs a big change and new writers, I hope ron and frank can save our characters that have been ignored by the last writers ,I would like to see brenda come back but forget about her and sonny.Im starting to like this kate ,loved the scene in the bloody wedding dress.however <I really dont like her with sonny, poor sonny I cant think of anyone he can be with at this time.he needs to be fixed to.
I love Emma Samms. If they can find room to bring all these people back, ALONG with OLTL players, and couldn’t fnd room to bring back Laura, I am sure it must be a cool slap in the face to Genie Frances….
I agree.I wonder why general hospital never brought her back to stay, she was always one of my favorites ,there are so many times she was free to go back and they never asked ,all the interesting people in port charles were either killed or put on the back burner ,way back .and the show continued to have stories surround the mob and thats why alot of fans just said bye, bye .I dont know how many times I ve said that im done, but always stayed tune.laura didnt have to be with luke .there were all different directions they could have had laura go.I loved when she showed up when lulu was crazy.she was there for a short time ,and the big question is was she or wasnt she in lulu s head.maybe there is room for her somewhere it would be nice.ARE WE IN LIMBO AGAIN?wish the problem would get fixed.
It’s not so much of the mob stuff, in moderation it would be fine since this is Sonny’s and Jason’s life, but in moderation while other stories continue to be told. This hasn’t quite happened and is the result of fan upset. And the bodged/horrible story with Brenda when Maurice and Venessa had such a beautfiul love story they could of told and played out in the 1 year she was on. Sonny and Brenda was GH best love story, BESIDES Luke and Laura, and Sonny and Brenda ended up being GH’s worst story (the Becan) or whoever that guy was that was after Brenda made no sense!!! The attorney Sonny was dating just disappeared. I would like to see her back for Sonny, not Kate. The attorney could have been good with Mac, not Alexis. That pairing makes GH seem to be desparate looking for stories. There have never been an interest with these two, Mac and Alexis, and now all of a sudden. I love Alexis but not with Mac.
your right about the mob stuff,we just dont want to see or hear it 5 hours every week, and they did waste 1 year with brenda and sonny, however ,brenda was never a favorite of mine since she left years ago.I dont want to see this happen again, but I always liked sonny and carly, kate is getting interesting ,wonder what her problem is ,dont like her with sonny either.I really dont know who should be with him,at this time I cant come up with anyone,he gets on my nerves and he pisses me off every time I see him which is quite alot, and I know it has to be because of the mob stories ,its just to much and his character to me is trashed ,the other day when he was demanding to know what kate was doing ,it took everything I had to keep from throwing something at the television, screaming at him to mind his own business.ok I think I bashed sonny enough today ,but you know what I mean.there has to be other people living in port charles besides him, oh ,there is ,its just the old writers forgot to write about them.welcome to port charles ron and frank, looking forward to see you both work your magic ,on our only soap left on abc.
You dont know who could be with Sonny, I can. LOL But yes? , he has been over used and doesn’t allow the audience to miss him when he gone a fews days. The over kill has robbed him of some of the sex appeal he had. Why don’t you like Brenda? Are you saying you haven’t like Brenda since she left last time, OR you have never liked Brenda? I wasn’t happy with her protrayal this time, but I adore Venesa Marcil as Brenda. I just opened a email post from you in my inbox you asking me why I don’t like Elizabeth. It’s not that I don’t like her, I just find her boring. I don’t see what she brings to the canvas of GH. To me she is a long time player that has no real value. Outside of Brenda, I only want to see Sonny with THIS Carly. I like the other Carly’s but NOT for Sonny.
To answer one question is they have sit down with Kimberly to convince her to stay and she still does not want to this is why I am concerned this is their swan song I think ABC has given up on soaps I hope I am wrong. Katie Couric Not!!!!
I’m excited about seeing Emma return to GH. I’m crossing my fingers that this time the writers actually fix the crap from 06/09, especially since this looks to me like the beginning of the end. I don’t give a rats behind how it’s done, let it be that Helena & Luke brainwashed Holly into thinking she messed around with Luke & to think that Ethan is his. Hell they can even be in cahoots with her crazy cousin Basil for all I care just as long as it’s corrected. Then Robert/Holly/Ethan can all leave together heading for Australia and a happy ending. I won’t hold my breath though. GH has been a huge disappointment for years and seriously I cannot see that changing.
Not interested in the OLTL characters. They had their show and their ending. THis is GH and they shouldn’t come to GH.
I like that FH and TR are coming but sad it is for Robin’s exit. I just hope RC and FV leave the door open for a Scrubs happy ending with Emma. I rather Robin, Patrick and Emma leave together.
Michael, It’s Anna Devane. Not Anna Scorpio. She hasn’t been married to Robert for a couple decades now. Let’s get our GH history right. I’m excited to hear that Emma will reprise her role as Holly. She’s always been a fave since day one when Luke saw her skinnydipping in the woods. Hoping for great scenes with Ethan and Robert.
He also called Holly Sutton Scorpio, she has not been married to Robert for years either.
Why not? There was never a divorce. Holly tore those papers up and threw them in the river. So technically aren’t they still married? Or is a divorce something we’re supposed to assume happened off screen? Grant it I could’ve missed something. I’m just sayin’.
Holly did indeed tear the divorce papers once she learned of Robert’s death.
Holly and Robert were legally married, and they never were legally divorced…Anna and Robert were legally divorced. When they remarried, Holly was presumed dead, but she was actually alive, which made Anna and Robert’s second marriage null and void.
this is sounding like awesome news, i’m very happy that the new regime is playing their cards the right way, I’m hoping this will be the norm and instead of a quick gimmick. I’m staying positive. Hooray!
Woohoo Finola and Tristan back on screen together again! Can’t wait to see Anna and Robert together again, maybe they could finally run the mob out of town.
Best thing FV & RC did was bring these two back.
Anna couldn’t do that when she was Police Commissioner why would she be able to do that now? The mob moved in hot and heavy under her watch.
Anna couldn’t do it, she was a horrible police chief, Robert had to come all the way from Australia to fixed the mess Anna made, the whole police dept were in bed with the mob under Anna’s watch, still love her tho, but fact is fact. lol Robert was the best police commissioner bar none. In a league of his own.
I have been watching old GH videos, and one thought keep coming to my mind. When Holly returned in 2009, and the scene in which Anna jumped out of an airplane or a helicopter, and proceeded to fight with Robert, she showed no surprise at Holly being alive. However, the last she knew when Faison supposedly kidnapped her, Holly was dead……yet she never blinked when she saw Holly. She just began to tear into her, yet she asked Luke if he were Luke Spencer. Could Anna have known that Holly were alive the entire time? Faison did..as he set Holly up and lured her back to Port Charles. Just saying!
Holly and Robert were a much better couple!
Bring all the stars from amc and oltl to General hospital and make it a 2 hr show. We would love it.
How awesome that Anna and Robert will be in a storyline with their daughter! The Scorpios back together again!
OMG! I’m in heaven. I loved Holly and Robert! Now if only they would retcon Ethan and make him Robert’s son, not Luke’s, I’d be one happy camper.
Todd and Blair
Robert and Holly
Now we just need Genie Francis back and it’s a trifecta….
I love Robert and Holly! I cant wait to see Tristan Rogers and Emma Samms together on GH again! Please do right by Robert and Holly this time, GH!!!
This is such wonderful news! I am very excited to see this two acting together again!
Ditto!! Robert and Holly were the best and I am praying for some spectacular scenes with Tristan and Emma.
it looks like valentini & carlivati are going to be breathing new life into gh – i am very please with this news………..
I’m so excited that Emma is coming back to GH. I loved Robert and Holly together. I hope Tristan and Emma get some good scenes. And I would love for it to be revealed that Ethan is a Scorpio!
Here’s hoping that Ethan is a Scorpio. He should have been a Scorpio from the jump.
I am so excited about this because at last the horrible regime is gone and GH has great new people in charge. I have every faith that Holly will finally be in character for the first time since 1993 ! I cannot wait to see Emma Samms and Tristan Rogers light up the screen again ! Robert and Holly are GH’s best love story of all time. I really hope Ron fixes the mess that is Ethan and makes him the Scorpio he always should’ve been !
I am so excited. I just love Robert and Holly……always have. The
se two still have it going on. Just let Ethan be their son.
I also LOVE Robert and Holly and Tristan and Emma. So happy to see them back on GH where they belong. Hoping for great scenes like of old.
I am NOT happy about the OLTL cast entering GH. This will be the beginning of the end for them…very unfortunate.
