Susan Lucci was a guest on The View his past Wednesday and during the conversation with the ladies of The View, Lucci revealed that the final airdate of All My Children will be this coming, September 23rd.

In a behind the scenes bit for the show’s website, ViewTube, Lucci talked with The View’s EP, Bill Geddie, stating about AMC’s  cancellation, “I am processing this, it’s a loss.”  Then the two discuss her new storyline on AMC, “As far as the doppelganger storyline, it is not an evil twin at all. This is a very contemporary story of identify theft and what you can do in modern times. It’s like All About Eve. This woman does not just want Erica Kane’s credit cards, she wants those too. But she wants her life…the glamor, the glitz, the red carpet, and the men.”

This is really going to be the end to an era, one that I have personally been a part of since early 1974. I remember, Susan Lucci’s beautiful and firey character, as “The Legendary Erica Kane, and her infamous marriges beginning with Chuck Martin throug Jackson Montgomery, her drive for fame and fortune and attaining all she set out to accomplish. I believe that Ms. Lucci so profected the character of Erica Kane; it almost feels like we’re, the viwers, are really losing our beloved Erica Knane and all her splenda. I loved you Susan as ERICA and will truly miss my #1 day time soap star. The very, very best to you Susan, and whatever your future golas are; I believe if you go after them with the same firey passion you profected as ERICA and her great capacity for loving life, you are sure to super suceed all your hopes for the future and more. I love you and await what you will bring to us in your next roles….. Sincerely, best wishes!!

I think that this is a real shame. AMC leaving the air. Soap operas have been around in the USA for over 75 years. I feel like if they would tape the soaps and air them @ night on the Soap Opera network channel, they could still tape them and air them at night. Instead of taping 4-5 days per week, they could record 3 days, he actors would still have there jobs and we the fans would still have our soaps. I grew up watching soaps with my grand mother & mom it has been a family tradition for us. I know that more women are in the work force and not staying home during the day, but soaps still have many, many fans that love them. I can’t believe that they are being replaced by silly cooking show. We have enough of them and reality shows on the air now. PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T TAKE AWAY OUR SOAPS!!!!!! IT ISN’T FAIR 2 THE FANS OR THE ACTORS WHO HAVE BEEN IN OUR HOMES & HEARTS 4 YEARS. I STARTED WATCHING AMC WHEN I WAS 2 YEARS OLD AND HAVE BEEN WATCHING 4 OVER 34 YEARS. SUSAN LUCCI, ERICA CANE IS LIKE A FAMILY MEMBER 2 ME. AMC ACTORS Y’ALL WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED AND REMEMBERED IN THE HEARTS OF YOUR SOAP FANS!!! WE WISH Y’ALL ONLY THE BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.!!!!!!

Cady McClain Remembers ‘All My Children’ On Its 50th Anniversary Sharing: “I Will Always Be Grateful For the Experience, and For The Lifelong Relationship With All The Fans”

The beloved All My Children first aired on January 5th, 1970 on ABC and ran on the network until it was canceled back in September of 2013.  The next year, the show received a short-lived reboot online via Prospect Park.

One of the actresses to appear in both the network and online version was Daytime Emmy winning actress Cady McClain, who became soap-famous for her role as Dixie Cooney Martin and together with Michael E. Knight, became one of soaps all-time popular duos as Tad and Dixie.

While so many miss All My Children every single day and the indelible characters created by the late, great Agnes Nixon, McClain took to her Instagram on Sunday to relate what the soap opera meant to her in her life.

Here is what Cady shared along with a cover of Soap Opera Digest featuring Michael Knight and herself as Tad and Dixie: “Today I am celebrating the 50th Anniversary of “All My Children”! I started on the show when I had just turned 19 in the fall of 1988. I worked as a contract player thru 1996. I was back in the fall of 1997 again under contract and worked through 2001. That’s roughly 13 years. Then I came back for a year in 2006, then for a couple months in 2012. Then I did the internet version for six weeks and then… the show was done.

GH's James Patrick Stuart Talks on Valentin's Downfall and Potential Rise to Power

For many years this show and the people on it were like family to me. The makeup artists as much mom’s as my own mom to me at times. And thanks to the work I was able to afford some art school and college as well. I saw many great shows (both American and International) that came to NYC, which opened my eyes to what performance could be. It allowed me to do a lot of Off-Broadway theater and roles in five Indie films while working my day job.

I was nominated three times and won my first Emmy. I made some lifelong friends like Michael E. Knight, James Patrick Stewart, Jill Larson, Penny Bergman, Julia Barr, Lonnie Quinn and many others both in front of and behind the scenes. And most importantly, I was able to take care of my wild but wonderful mother. ‘She who drove me nuts’ but impressed on me the importance of having art in ones life. Who read me poems and took me to museums. My child who died but who I so grateful to have known. Thank you ABC and all the producers and writers who supported me and my work. Because of your support my life was richer, broader, more interesting. I will always be grateful for the experience …. and for the lifelong relationship with all the fans! Massive shout out to the daytime fans who continue to support me in my projects. When I meet one of you on the street I am truly grateful for your time and that we got to share some really special moments together. . .”
