Friday’s, March 25th episode of General Hospital, brought with it the on-screen debut of Tabyana Ali as Trina Robinson.  As viewers know, Ali replaced popular actress Sydney Mikayla in the role.

Mikayla had decided to leave the ABC daytime drama series to go to college full-time.  With that, GH auditioned her replacement and Tabyana won the part.

In her debut episode, Ali was thrown into the mix with key characters and actors in Trina’s storyline including parents, Portia (Brook Kerr) and Marcus Taggert (Réal Andrews).

Additionally, Tabyana appeared opposite, Nicholas Alexander Chavez (Spencer), where Trina gave the guy a giant brush-off, and later had a run-in with Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Cameron (William Lipton) over everyone believing Trina is responsible for the video showing Joss and Cam making love going viral and in the their classroom.  Of course, the audience knows Esme (Avery Pohl) is framing Trina for it.

So, what were your first impressions of Tabyana as NuTrina? Let us know in the comment section, but first check out Ali in scenes with Eden McCoy below.

These are TOUGH shoes to fill. I thought she did well the first day, though a little soft for Trina. I think she’ll do okay if the writers don’t dumb her down. But I’ll really miss Sydney M. regardless.

Soaphound
I agree, but her little baby voice kind of gets on my nerves. Also, again am still not liking nuJordan, too haughty. Maybe she’ll soften some.

I – finally – had my take, last Friday episode 3/18… when the whole show focused on two upchuck “story” 1. Esme , why do they show characters, so desperate, especially, since these were words, you’d never hear ???? she hit rock bottom, with that episode w/Spencer… Another , can you shut her up? she’s neither emoting… a desperation, or pathetic… it’s just not cylinder… showing barely any facial expression.. so not worthy .shooting blanks nonstop

2ndly . Jeepers… watching Laura Wright w/Drew on the bridge !!! as they attempted a “playful attempt” at come hithers…. “you’d do that for me ” show up in a courtoom ???? wtf ? as the casual banter, ready smile… were spot on already ODD… no matter how you spin…. @Laura Wright does not portray a feminine heroine or a womanhood who doesn’t know shit about being flirty, playful, give and take, banter , bandy about wants and needs… this is worse than uptight… with no personality or sense of humor !!!! she’s always in the drivers seat, for a reason… as they all kowtow… i’m sick of it… lackeys sonny, michael, Josselyn… so they rally around.. by themselves.. QUE : camera fades … i’m sure theirs a storyboard already waiting for these dullard’

I LIKE nuJordan… probably because she has presence, AND so reminds me of Brandi !!! PLUS… the chemistry was instantaneous w/Molly, TJ, and especially Shawn !!! he must know this and is LEAVING…. !!! argh! i’m certain he just got tired of this debacle… writing sucks… executive producer runs roughshod in and around his favorites (the corinthos’) i truly believe that nepotism , played a big part w/ Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey. SICK !!! to disrespect this genre

I agree

She stepped right in, strong self assured Trina wasn’t coming through yet. IMO she will be fine. and did well. But she is gonna need that intelligent and tough edge to get past Esme. I just wish she could realize she was drugged by Esme that night.

bob
I was thinking the same thing. I bet you when Esme is found out, and she will be, she will spill her guts and be more than willing to brag about everything she’s done. I am just wondering who she’ll blame as to why she did all this or will she proudly say it was her dear old dad.

She going to put it on daddy dear

With her mom being a doctor, you would think it would cause a red flag to black out after one drink. Plus her dad was an undercover cop…. Also I can’t wait until they reveal that her dad is actually Curtis.

It’s really tough to replace an actress who was so well-liked, be thrown right in the middle of a major storyline, AND interact with so many different characters on your debut. But I thought Tabyana did a fantastic job right from the jump, and seems to have chemistry with all the other characters. It seems like the GH casting department has done it again!

Tabyana did a great introductory episode, and definitely will miss Sydney, but so excited for her future. GH has definitely got a great young cast with lots of options for stories to be explored. I hope that Y and R can figure it out (aka Faith and Moses, etc.) for it is called YOUNG and the RESTLESS for a reason. And B and B does not even have any kids around to even SORAS unless Douglas (who is fantastic) and Kelly and Beth…

She is no Sydney(who was incredible in the role) but she’s better than the new Jordan. I hope Sydney changes her my and comes back, she and Nicholas Chavez were great together.

she, also, clearly, had chemistry with Cameron… before the writers , balked, and took that away, from Trina… and all of a sudden, it was back to Joss and Cameron… WTF ??? NEW Jordan is already setting fire !!!! Shawn, was in to her… so weren’t we

okay did I miss her interacting w/ Spencer? what? I saw her debut acting opposite her parents, then Joslyn and cam then it finished w/ Jordan coming to question her, where and when did she have scenes with Spencer ?

Michael your smoking something or your getting extended scenes from GH that the rest of us are not, I went back to rewatch the episode and no flashbacks or scenes w/ nutrina w/ Spencer, he just got out of lock up so I’m not crazy,.

aria
I noticed it was shown in bits and pieces, really odd, but she went to see Spencer for about five minutes, than to school and than PCPD, wierd.

I think she did a great job capturing the spirit of Trina and putting her own stamp on her, as well. Great job!

She is a lovely young lady, hopefully the “powerfull Trina” emerges more in the weeks to come. The arrest outrage was a little weak on the episode when she was arrested.

I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like her right away! I absolutely ADORE Sydney Mikayla and am disappointed she has left the show but I understand her reasons.

Tabyana Ali is a bit softer than Sydney in the role – Sydney has a fierceness about her, a no nonsense sensibility. But I found Trina and Joss’s scene quite effective on Friday and her scenes with Jordan, Portia, Curtis, and Taggert were all very good. I want to see what her chemistry is like with Chavez’s Spencer – sometimes the chemistry is there with a recast and other times it isn’t so waiting to see which way it will go.

As for the storyline I really do wish they would all work together to expose Esme! It’s a soap so I doubt it will happen but I wish they would be smart about it and nobody should doubt Trina’s innocence!

She’s feeling out the role doing okay but would like to see some of the stronger Trina attitude back defending herself. The emotion is missing.

On another note: the new Jordan HAS got to loosen up those skinny legged pants. Not what I’d want to see on the PC of PCPD to the point of inappropriate?!

I don’t like the new Jordan. Esme character is just to unreal. Time for the truth to come out.

Don’t like the new Trina. Need a recast.

Now that Sonny has Spinelli looking into the “sex tape” thing, NuTrina won’t have to be worried for long. And with any luck, Spinelli might also stumble on to an electronic paper trail which discloses who Esme’s actual parents are. We already know Ryan is her father. Still say Harmony is her mother, since we now know she’s also a confirmed psycho killer. Great genetics there, huh?

Satan
Her actual parents and her adoptive parents, and what she may/probably have done to them. We know that Harmony is not Willows mother and I don’t really think she is Esme’s. Also, I’m wondering if she was forced somehow to kill Neil? Did she have a motive of her own, or was she being used?

Between Curtis’s father and Auntie Stella the new house party was a bust.Good thing there are two doctors there for Stella. Iam confused, I thought when Sonny saw
Marshall’s medicine bottle at the hospital he recognised it as being what he takes himself for his Bi-Poler disorder but today he told Stella it was his heart meds ??

Spencer and Trina at the gallery should be pretty exciting. It will be explosive when these two finally ” get together” and we know it’s only a matter of time. It will not only be monumental for them but Esme will explode into a million pieces when she finds out. I also think she will try seducing Nickolas if she can.

I miss Sydney a lot. She owns that role and plays it to a “T” and the new Jordan just doesn’t work for me either. Maybe in time I will feel different about them, but right now they both stink.

When is Esme going to get her just desert? This story line is dragging on too long. It’s time all the dirt comes out about what she did, who her father is and what she’s up to so that Trina and Spencer can get together and Esme can join her father.

I don’t like the new Trina. Trina was strong and confident. The new Trina is timid and seems insecure. She needs to step up her game or find someone else.

Our new Trina looks small and lost with her friends and seems to be not getting her friend Joss at all. Today, she just looms over Trina and is it that time of the month or has she always been this overpowering and bitchy? Another Carly in the making?

Oh Violet, I felt sadly the same yesterday. Finally a good dramatic scene was underway with Joss confronting Spencer with Cam about to intervene…and Trina looked adrift. Her expression and body language didn’t match the others or even the events. For the second time since her debut, I’m starting to worry about losing interest in what could still be a compelling character. Not sure what should be done…But something needs to change. Now.

Why is she still missing from the opening credits?

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Nina Warns Jack, ‘You Just Get Willow What She Needs, or the Only Person Who’s Going to Be Destroyed is You!’

Nina

The August 26 episode of General Hospital certainly gave off “murder mystery” vibes, as Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) made a very public threat against Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna). With the recent report (although unconfirmed by GH itself) that McKenna is set to exit the soap in the fall, and that Brennan will be killed-off, it appears that story is kicking into high gear.

In the key story point, Nina learns that Brennan threatened her daughter Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) via the tape recording Willow made of Jack’s conversation with her. When she goes to talk to Jack at the Metro Court Gardens she leveled her threat saying, “You just get Willow what she needs, Brennan, or the only person who’s going to be destroyed is you!”

However, in that moment, Carly (Laura Wright) was on the scene and heard Nina. In addition, GH doctors Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) and Tristan (Dean Geyer), who’s past or present with the WSB is still undefined enough to question if he has an axe to grind with Brennan, were at a table together and overheard the threat. Also having a meet-up at poolside were Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Drew (Cameron Mathison). Certainly, Carly and Drew have no love lost for Nina and would like to see knocked down several pegs!

Courtesy/ABC

NINA PUT HER FOOT IN HER MOUTH

The whole set-up would seem to make Nina the prime suspect in a Brennan murder mystery, if it is found there is foul play involved, and we know someone is getting their drink spiked by week’s end at the Metro Court poolside thanks to this week’s ABC promo for the series.

ALEXIS IS FIGHTING MAD

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has had enough with Willow. After Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) meets with the legal eagle at her house, and explains how Willow is threatening him, that she will go to the police with evidence he was at Drew’s home the night he was shot.

Alexis is mortified that Willow is continuing to stoop to such lengths given she knows the Willow was the shooter all along. Kai also believes that Willow tried to kill Drew a second time by pushing him in his wheelchair into the lake, unaware that it was actually Nina would tried to drown Drew.

Now in the show’s final moments, an enraged Alexis shows up at Willow’s office and reveals that she’d known since the trial that Willow shot Drew and she was not going to stay silent any longer. Willow shot back that Alexis, because of her oath as her lawyer. can’t do that. Alexis said boldly, “Watch me, Congresswoman.”

So, do you agree that it now looks like it’s curtains for Brennan, a murder mystery will unfold, and Nina will take the fall? Or, do you think this is all a red-herring? What will Alexis do to Willow? How will she out the congresswoman with all her lies and crimes? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Who is Hudson in Cahoots With After Revealing Phone Call?

Published

The mysterious Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) is clearly in collusion with someone as witnessed on the Tuesday, August 24 episode of General Hospital.

Since Troy Lennon Appel made his debut on the soap on July 30, we already know he “appears” to be the true biological father of baby Phoebe, and is quite the bad dude after roughing up Ethan in Norway.

Now in Port Charles, claiming he is there for JJE (Jasper Jacks Enterprises) business, and with the edict to contact Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) and let her know her father named her the CEO of his company while he is “sailing” abroad, he was initially met with resistance when Josslyn refused to accept the job.

Courtesy/ABC

I’VE CHANGED MY MIND

However, after a recent turn of events, where Brennan (Chris McKenna) told Josslyn, the WSB has her next assignment, and it is to find out what’s going on with her father’s company, they demanded her to accept the CEO position. Now Josslyn is caught and has to back-petal after initially telling Hudson to bring her qualified candidates and she would pick one as her replacement.

In all-new episodes, while at the Quartermaine boathouse, Josslyn informed Hudson that she was now taking the CEO position. Josslyn cited that she realized she wanted to honor her father’s wishes and uphold his legacy.

Hudson is stunned and tries to dissuade her, and is quite suspicious over her sudden change of heart. Realizing no matter what he said Josslyn was not backing down, Hudson says he hadn’t been on board with Jax’s decision to give the company to Josslyn, but now he could see that maybe he’d  been wrong about her.

HUDSON HAS A PROBLEM

Josslyn says failing herself, or her father, isn’t an option and when she commits to something she goes all in. She tells Hudson that she would appreciate his support. Hudson says she has it, as she turns to walk away after dropping her bombshell decision on him.

Next, a very pissed off Hudson, picks up his phone and makes a call to someone and tells them that Josslyn took the job. He intimates that this is bad news and will screw up their plans. He tells the person on the other end that he is going to make her change her mind!

So, where is this leading? Who could Hudson be working with on the inside and who did he call? How do you see General Hospital weaving in Josslyn taking over JJE as their new WSB mystery story? Put your creative hats on and let us know your thoughts via the comment section.

But first, check out the GH teaser below for today’s Wednesday, August 26 episode below, where Josslyn tells her mother, Carly to accept her decision of either taking the job at JJE or staying with the WSB!

‘General Hospital’s’ Josh Swickard Recalls Emotional Moment After His Final Scenes with Michael Easton, and Favorite ‘Chase’ Storyline

Published

on

By

Josh Swickard

Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase, General Hospital) is the special guest on this week’s all-new episode of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart. The GH fan favorite and leading men opened up about his life pre and post GH, his marriage to actress and producer, Lauren Swickard, and some of his toughest and most memorable moments during his eight-plus years as officer Chase of the PCPD.

One of the most heartbreaking moments came when Josh had to say farewell to his on-screen brother Finn played by soap veteran, Michael Easton. It was back on the Thursday, June 27, 2024 episode of General Hospital.

In it, Chase drives Finn to a rehab facility and the two brothers share a heartfelt talk in the car. Finn thanks Chase for allowing him to say goodbye to his daughter, Violet (Jophielle Love). Chase promises to take good care of her. However, Chase warns Finn to not to take any shortcuts on his way to sobriety and to always think of Violet’s wellbeing. It is apparent, the brothers don’t want to say goodbye, but on the count of three, Finn leaves Chase’s car and walks through the door of the rehab facility, while Chase in tears beats the steering wheel before drives away.

MISSING HIS TV BROTHER

Josh spoke to the “Soapy” podcast hosts about it and recalled, “In our last scenes together, and it was like his last day. Michael was like, ‘It’s okay.’ And I was like, ‘No, it’s not.’ I was supposed to be crying in the scene, I think. I was like a little glassy-eyed, a little glazed over. And then they were like, “And cut.”  I was like, “Great.” I just like went behind the car and wept.”

Speaking of his professional and personal relationship with Easton, Josh expressed, “Michael is an awesome guy. He’s such a sweetheart. We’ve done fan events together in New York and he would show me things, like, ‘This where I used to live  …’ He’s like an older brother to me.”

Not only did Josh lose his on-screen brother, but he also lost his on-screen father, Gregory, played by Gregory Harrison, when he was killed-off the show after the character battled ALS. “I think I was more just mourning friends that play family on a show, but a show that goes year after year, year round, and so they become family,” explained Swickard. “So, that part’s been hard for me of just losing friends that while, yes, you get to see each other, you get to call each other, it’s different (when they leave).”

CHASE IN A COMA IS FAVORITE OF JOSH’S

When asked, what has been his favorite storyline during his run on GH thus far, Josh took it back to when Chase became became critically ill after being poisoned by a toxic from Peter August (Wes Ramsey) meant for Finn. Eventually, Finn had to rescue his brother with the antidote for the toxin. That story played out from April to June 2021.

Josh explained, “Where I was in a coma and I was seizing and coughing and I had no blocking for like four months! It was great! It was a storyline where I was about to die and I had to say goodbye to a lot of lovely people and it was so exhausting. You get in the car and you feel like you got hit by a train every day because your body doesn’t fully know what acting is, apparently. I remember multiple days being like, ‘Oh, this is why I signed up for this.'”

Swickard also answered if there were moments in the storyline if he felt Chase was not going to survive. The GH star answered, “There were moments that I wondered.  However, I think they were pretty upfront with me. They were like, ‘This isn’t what’s going to happen.'”
