With Tajh Bellow Off Contract at ‘General Hospital’ as TJ Ashford; Is the Series Banking on a Molly/Cody Relationship and Its Recent ‘Doctor’ Staff Changes?
General Hospital fans learned throughout this week, that Tajh Bellow, who has played the role of Dr. TJ Ashford since 2018, has been taken off contract by the ABC daytime drama seres, when in the closing credit of last week’s Friday, February 21st episode, his name did not appear. The closing credits are reserved for contract players, indicating Tajh would now be on recurring status moving forward. GH does not officially comment on actors contract status with their show.
Interestingly, Tajh started his GH run on a recurring status when he became the third actor to play the role of TJ following Krys Meyer, who originated the part in 2012, who was followed by Tequan Richmond until the fall of 2018. Then, when Bellow debuted on November 18, 2018, he first was on recurring status, and eventually given contract status in early 2022. His last on contract appearance happened back in December of 2024.
The status change in the February 21s episode, came on the heels of Bellow taking to his Instagram with a post that stated, “WHAT A YEAR WE HAD!!!!” before dovetailing into his work in the heartbreaking story of the baby Kristina (Kate Mansi) was carrying and lost, that was supposed to be given to TJ and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) to raise as their own, only for the longstanding couple to break-up over their mutual grief.

Bellow added, “Playing Dr. TJ Ashford has been a groundbreaking experience for my career. Pouring into TJ as he poured into me has been illuminating in many regards. Grieving such immense loss took everything in me and I’m blessed that my work resonated with you all.”
When trying to address what everyone wants to know if he is truly been let-go from the series, or if we will see more of TJ, Bellow shared, “I know a lot of my fans are wondering what’s next for TJ, but before I speak to that I wanted to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together. I’m excited for this years EMMY AWARDS!”
This year’s Daytime Emmys were announced by NATAS to have beee moved from its usual June ceremony date to later this year in October. So like Bellow, we will have to wait and see when the nominations come out, if his touching performances in the storyline will see him landing a spot in one of the major daytime drama acting categories. Bellow is a previous Emmy nominee.
From the looks of it, with Molly Lansing-Davis and Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) seemingly heading for a romance with each other, it looks very doubtful now that Molly and TJ would reconcile. Thus, leaving viewers wondering if the series should have kept Bellow on contract and pair him with another romantic partner on the soap, and also to be more a part of the hospital scene, or not? The hospital had recently hired two new doctors join its staff: Dr Isaiah Gannon played by Sawandi Wilson, and the return of Dr Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) getting his job back at GH, which further makes it difficult for Bellow’s character, as of now.

In his post, Bellow promised the next update he gives will be more informative to hopefully explain where things are at with his current working relationship with GH in the future.
So, what do you think of Tajh Bellow being taken off contract late last year by GH? Do you hope that TJ returns? Are you now turning your attention to Molly and Cody, or are not going to be into their story, if the end result doesn’t reunite TJ and Molly somehow? Finally, will you be rooting for Tajh to score a Daytime Emmy nomination later this year? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Will TJ become the latest GH character to just disappear and leave the audience wondering “whatever happened to TJ?” Tune in tomorrow…
Bumping Tajh Bellow from contract to recurring is a major mistake. He should still be on contract; just praying this opens the doors for him elsewhere… preferrably in Georgia beyond some amazing gates.
I see what you did there!
Tajh did well when given a chance to shine. Not sure the character needs to be on contract.
An interesting tidbit about TJ & Molly… when the surrogacy story started TJ (Bellow) was on contract and Molly (then Pullos) was on recurring. After they finally found the right Molly, Vaganos earned a contract and Bellow was slowly pushed a side.
Hope they keep TJ around as Jordan needs a familial relationship on the canvas.
Did they tease the viewers with that chem test between Lucas and TJ?
Please don’t make every Black man possibly gay. Why can’t he have a good relationship with someone who can fully love him. He deserves this. You are giving it to Molly why not TJ, she has betrayed him before!?
Other than Felix… I don’t GH has had any other gay black men
GH’s only gay Black male character has been Felix so I don’t understand the point you’re making. I think it would be interesting to add this dimension to TJ because we don’t know anything about him other than he’s been in love with Molly all his life.
Just sad, sad, sad.
What the hell is wrong with Drew Q!!!!
Bring TJ back, this show is letting the wrong actors go.Get rid of Drew.
I agree! Drew is sleazebag He and Willow make me gag
Idk what is going on , i have notice that General Hospital writers , directors , producers are letting go a lot of great actors / actresses , first it was ( Finn , then Sam , then Dex , now TJ , soon it will be Josslyn , since Brennan wants Josslyn to join the ( WSB ) supposedly she was leaving on a mission . They need to think twice before letting anyone go . i wish they could bring back ( ALL MY CHILDREN , ONE LIFE TO LIVE ,
I agree with you . I want Michael to definitely come back. There’s a big void without him, and I’m so sick of Willow and Drew.
I don’t know why there is an assumption he’s recurring. He hasn’t been on air for 2 months, and his Instagram post sounded rather final. How do we know he isn’t permanently gone? Also, a show called “General Hospital” doesn’t have room for four doctors (Portia, Isaiah, Lucas (who is recurring) and TJ)? (Yes, I remember Terry… but the show clearly doesn’t.) Pathetic.
Here we go again, sad to see him taken off contract, I hope he sticks around although I doubt he will, he’s young, handsome talented so he could get a job especially now that there’s another soap on the air, hope he sticks with Gh though.
I will miss him. He’s a very good actor
This totally bites TB needs to be put back on contract asap I for one like TJ and Molly as a couple so let’s keep it that way..
I think he needs 2 come back 2 finish what he started w molly, they did have some sort of ceremony w b life partners, maybe a idea of some issues that need 2 b addressed w that & molly & Cody…mmmm…..idk maybe but something tells me molly will get pregnant if it happens….it’s a soapy anything is possible
. As 4 his return it would b Wonderful, but soapy people change way 2 much anyways & ithe interests happen so he’s doin him, 4 now…..live the life tajh.
Bring TJ back to GH!

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Josslyn Gets a Visitor in Obrecht, Chase Makes A High-Profile Arrest … But Who is it?
This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, after Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) chloroformed Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), she winds up thrown into the secret room at Wydemere with Josslyn Jacks. Now, both Obrecht and Joss are under the thumb of Cullum and Sidwell (Carlo Rota) for different reasons.
However, what will Cassius (Ryan Paevey) think of the news that his mother is being forced to finish Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) work on Faison’s final project? Cassius gets very alarmed when Sidwell informs him in the Monday, June 8 “Next on General Hospital” video teaser, that, “Locating Britt is no longer a priority.”
Meanwhile, Portia’s (Brook Kerr) baby shower is here, which could wind up in an all out war between Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner). While Curtis is lawyering up with someone, Portia wants Isaiah to “just hold off for now.” Is she referring to him suing Curtis for destroying his ability to operate after injury his hand, or to stay away from the baby shower?

KRISTINA’S PLANS

It appears she drops the news of her decision to leave Port Charles to attend medical school at UCLA, which paves the way for Kate Mansi’s upcoming exit. GENERAL HOSPITAL: Cullum Kidnaps Obrecht as Britt’s Replacement to Finish Faison’s Final Project
WSB director Ross Cullum is truly as despicable villain as they come, and played with steely intensity by Andrew Hawkes. For the double agents latest crime, you need to look no further than the Friday, June 5 cliffhanger of General Hospital, where in the episode’s final moments he sneaks up on an unassuming Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) after hiding in the back seat of her car.
Next, he chloroforms her with his intent clear. He plans on forcing her to finish the last leg of Faison’s final project at Wyndemere, since her daughter Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) left town with Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) in tow to get away from Cullum!
In what led to the kidnapping, Cullum had a terse conversation with his business associate and co-conspirator on the project, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). It is Sidwell who is preoccupied with wanting to bring Marco’s killer to justice (not knowing it’s the man right in front of him!). Sidwell told Cullum if bringing Marco’s killer to justice wasn’t a priority for the WSB director, then why should protecting Cullum be a priority for him?
SIDWELL VS. CULLUM
The two finally put aside their differences as they have to complete Faison’s final project for it will be highly lucrative for them, useful for their mutual gains, and groundbreaking. In order to do that they need a great mind with a scientific background to finish it up and get them to the finish line since Britt as disappeared.
Later, outside of “General Hospital,” Obrecht is headed back to her car after searching Britt’s office for any clues as to the whereabouts of her daughter. But when she got in the car to drive away, that’s when the aforementioned Cullum strikes!

BROOK LYNN GETS ADVICE FROM A FORMER ADULTERESS
In other key developments, after Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) keeps inserting herself into Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) life, all with the seeming pretense to pay back Chase for helping her clear her name at the trial, and standing by her, she brings good news in person about baby Phoebe’s adoption to Alexis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) law office to Chase. Once Brook Lynn heard Chase was on her away over with paperwork, she decided to hightail it out of there for an “emergency” appointment for Deception.
As we come to find out, Brook Lynn meets up with Lucy (Lynn Herring) at the Metro Court pool, She then proceeds to inform Lucy about Willow sniffing around he husband. Lucy says she knows a thing or two about being an adulteress. Brook Lynn wants Lucy to help her send a clear message to Willow to stay away from her husband, or else!
Now below, check out the scenes before Obrecht was kidnapped where she visited Willow, Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) and suspects Willow is up to no good.
Then let us know, with Lucy taking Brook Lynn under her wing, what plot do you think the two will come up with against Willow? What do you think will happen to Obrecht? With Lucas also at Wyndemere trying to bait Sidwell into an attempted murder charge, will he winds up thrown in the secret room with Josslyn?
