Talent Agents of Y&R's Christel Khalil Fire Back At Her For Lawsuit Allegations!

So now, the agents that Daytime Emmy winner Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) has filed a lawsuit against have come forward exclusively to TheWrap.com with their side of the story.  Khalil’s agents, Mavrick Artists Agency’s attorney, Max Sprecher, said that the actress’s complaint is “all blue smoke and mirrors” and suggested that she does not want to pay the agency monies owed.

In her suit, she alleges the agency of stealing funds and not sending her out on a satisfactory number of auditions. She says they even sent her out for a role on the show she has worked on for over a decade, The Young and the Restless as Lily Winters!

The attorney for Mavrick refuted Christel’s allegation about being sent to a “Y&R” audition. “There’s no way in hell that she went out on an audition,” Sprecher said. “That just couldn’t have happened. Do you think ‘Young & the Restless’ is so stupid that their casting office would have scheduled such an audition? It wasn’t an audition — it was a submission and even if a submission happened, it was simply an oversight as agents and their assistants are in a mad rush to beat out the competition.   “Have we all not made computer mistakes?'” the attorney asked. “These things happen and it’s not a big deal.”

So what do you think of the agents position on this case? Do you think their “error” in submitting Christel for a role on her own show Y&R was a sloppy job by an agent assistant?  Wouldn’t you be pissed if you were Christel? Share your thoughts?

As with most things in life there two sides to every story, with the truth somewhere in the middle. The legal system has flaws but one of the reason it exists is to find that middle ground where the truth is and make a judgement on the case that is fair and just for both sides–lets hope that happens in this situation.

CW’s Batwoman TV Series Looking For Out Lesbian Actress To Play Title Role

In some intriguing casting news, the upcoming Batwoman series currently in development for The CW will feature TV’s first gay superhero character that is a series lead.

But on top of that, news today via TVLine has that the series is seeking an out lesbian actress to play the title role of Batwoman aka Kate Kane.  They are looking for an actress ages 25-29 of any ethnicity.

As to the log lines of the series, here’s what was released: “A wealthy socialite who calls Gotham home, Batwoman’s Kate Kane is described as ‘armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind,’ while physically she is a ‘highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.’ But don’t call her a hero yet.  In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

Look for Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television to helm the development deal.  Caroline Dries, an out lesbian, will be the head writer. She is best known for her work on The Vampire Diaries.

Batwoman/ Kate Kane will be first seen this fall in a four-way crossover event between ArrowThe FlashSupergirl and Legends of Tomorrow with the goal for the character to land her own series.

So, which lesbian actress should play CW’s LGBT super hero? Share your suggestions and thoughts in the comment section below.

Vinessa Antoine Reveals She And General Hospital Have Parted Ways; After Landing Primetime Series Lead

After the fantastic bit of casting news for actress Vinessa Antoine  (Jordan Ashford) over the weekend, today, via her social media accounts, Vinessa has addressed her future with General Hospital.

As viewers know, Vinessa has been cast as the drama series lead in the new CBC production of Diggstown, and it is groundbreaking making her the first black actress to star in a series on the legendary Canadian broadcasting network,   Originally it was presumed that Antoine would go recurring on GH, while she was away filming, but that is not the case as she revealed in her heartfelt message today.  She and GH have mutually parted ways.

Vinessa’s statement: “There are so many people that God put into place who are directly and indirectly responsible for my time at General Hospital.  You know who you are. I thank you. I came into this world as an artist. My job is to create and inspire. I hope that I did that a little in playing #JordanAshford.

I believe that I have taken her as far as I can.  To clarify, as negotiations for #Diggstown were underway, although I am open to stay and play in Port Charles, I was told by my reps that GeneralHospital felt that my character would be off the canvas for too long for me to continue playing her.

With that, we decided to mutually part ways.  It’s time to make room for more women of color in prominent roles on television. I’m grateful to assist in that by starting this new chapter in my journey. I hope you’ll all come along. I feel blessed. Be well. xo”

An ABC rep told Soap Opera Digest that the role of Jordan is being recast.

So what do you think of Vinessa leaving GH for good? Share your thoughts via the comment section below and let’s wish her much success!
