The Bold and the Beautiful Projected To Resume Production In June; Although Situation Remains Fluid

Photo:JPI

Could The Bold and the Beautiful be the first daytime drama back in production following their halt due to the coronavirus pandemic which caused Hollywood TV filming shutdowns?

Deadline revealed that they are hearing that the producers of the series put out a memo to the cast and crew that the series is looking to resume production in June.

However Deadline noted: “Sources stressed that this is just a projected start date and, while the producers are making preparations, the situation remains fluid.”

In order to move filming again forward, official safety protocols endorsed by the Hollywood unions, as well as guidelines set by CBS Television City, the city of Los Angeles and the state of California need to be in place first.

This begs the overall question of what soap scenes in a global pandemic might look like given they may be required to maintain safety distance measures which could eliminate close contact by the actors in the cast and their characters.

The Bold and the Beautiful is a Bell-Phillip Television production with Bradley Bell as the executive producer.

The last original episode of B&B aired on April 23rd, since that time the series has aired theme week encore episodes.

So, hopeful B&B will jump start production in June? Weigh-in below!

If this goes on much longer it’s going to be hard to follow

You’re so right. But I must say I’m enjoying the classic episodes of Y&R. The Jack and Victor scenes are epic. I miss the old background music. Certain music was used with certain characters. It added so much to a scene.

MJ100, the old background music was the best ever and so missed.

How you produce a soap with social distancing and face masks?

Based on current LA County stay at home guidelines, tv production would fall into phase 4 or return. With the order going until at least mid-July, June production seems highly unlikely.

The first soap back may need to film outdoors. B&B and Y&R can likely afford some form of location shoot. GH can use Prospect Studios grounds that double as park sets.

Tyra Banks Exiting ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Yesterday, Tyra Banks dropped a bombshell when speaking with a reporter from TMZ, while out for a stroll.

Banks shared that she’s not going to be returning as host of Dancing with the Stars, and has decided to focus on the business and entrepreneurial side of her career, plus producing behind the scenes entertainment projects.

This morning on Friday, Banks confirmed the news to Deadline.

Tyra had joined DTWTS in season 29 when she replaced longtime host, Tom Bergeron. She also became an executive producer of the reality-ballroom dance competition.

Last season, DWTS streamed exclusively on Disney Plus, and was taken off the ABC network.  During the last season, Tyra co-hosted the show with Alfonso Ribeiro, although she still presided over the ballroom competition.

Thus far, there has been no news of the next season of the series, although it’s expected to return.  In addition to Banks, dancer Mark Ballas along with the previously announced departure of dancer Cheryl Burke, leave the show with some shoes to fill.

Check out Tyra’s chat with TMZ below.
