The Chew continues to lose steam as ratings down over last few days!

New ABC daytime talk show The Chew, hosted by Mario Batali, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly, Daphne Oz and Michael Symon, which this week replaced the 41-year old soap opera All My Children has faltered in the ratings over the last few days. Monday’s show saw The Chew doing well for its debut, but according to media experts this have taken a downward turn.
TVMediaInsight.com is reporting that “based on the 56 metered markets, day three of The Chew (Wednesday) the series dipped to a 1.8 rating/6 share in the overnights based on Nielsen Media Research. Comparably, that was a loss of 36 percent in rating and three share points from the lead-in average (2.9/ 9, which is a combination of syndicated programming and local news) and 14 percent in rating and one share point from All My Children one year earlier (2.1/ 7 in Sept. 2010).
The Chew averaged a 1.8 rating/6 share on Tuesday, which declined by14 in households and one share point from Monday’s 2.1/ 7, according to Nielsen Media Research.
For the three telecasts to-date, The Chew is averaging a 2.0/ 6 out of a 2.9/10 for the lead-in. All My Children in Sept. 2010 was a 2.1/ 7. Considering recent ratings for All My Children were at an historical low, this is a very disappointing week one to-date for The Chew.”

On Thursday, nominations were announced in the Outstanding Talk Show category for the upcoming 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) coming off his first-year as co-host of ‘Live” with real-life wife, Kelly Ripa scored his first Talk Show Host nomination along with Ripa who has been nominated previous times.
Joining Mark and Kelly in the race are: Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, The View
Kelly Clarkson, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, Sheryl Underwood, The Talk and
Tamron Hall, Tamron Hall.

As previously reported, The Talk is coming to its end when its upcoming 15th and final season ends in December of 2024.
The 51st annual Daytime Emmys are slated to be broadcast and stream live on CBS and Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa
Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).
Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.
Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode. It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”
Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it. I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

Susan Lucci Joins the Cast of Jonah Hill’s Movie ‘Outcome’
Look who will be part of the ensemble cast in motion picture and film star Jonah Hill’s new film project! That’s right, none other than Susan Lucci (ex-Erica, All My Children).
According to Deadline, the daytime television icon joins other notables including Laverne Cox and David Spade who have been added to the cast of Outcome. The film stars Keanu Reeves, Matt Bomer (ex-Ben, Guiding Light) and Cameron Diaz.
In Outcome, which is written by, and will be directed by Hill, the dark comedy centers around Reef (played by Reeves), a damaged Hollywood star who must dive into the dark depths of his past to confront his demons and make amends after he is extorted with a mysterious video clip from his past.

Soap fans know that following her iconic run as All My Children’s Erica Kane, Susan went on to be featured in Lifetime’s Devious Maids in the role of Genevieve Delatour. Since her Pine Valley days ended (when AMC was canceled in 2012), Susan has appeared in numerous shows and made numerous appearances. n December of 2023, Lucci was awarded the Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award.

Outcome will debut on Apple and is an Apple Studios production. The film marks the latest collaboration for Hill and Apple Original Films, who are also developing a Grateful Dead biopic with Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, to be directed by Scorsese, with Hill starring in it and as one of the producers of the project, as well.

Michael, Let’s not forget why those ratings were 2.1 for AMC. The writers were not chosen for their expertise, but to help bring it down. Had AMC been blessed with Lorraine Broderick with Agnes overseeing (as was for the past 4 months), AMCs ratings would have gone back up to what they use to be. As far as The Chew? I don’t know why ABC did not listen to the VIEWERS. After all, we are the ones who give the shows their ratings. NO MATTER WHAT THE AGE. No one wants to watch a food show or whatever it is during the day in place of a soap opera. The Chew belongs on The Food Network.

I won’t watch it. If I want to watch a cooking show I would watch the FoodNetwork. Checking out the soaps on CBS and NBC. and then tune in to OLTL. When that goes off the channel will be changing again to another network. ABC has made a huge mistake. Maybe it is time to reconsider their blunder. Talk radio may be an option or I could tune into the FoodNetwork!!!!
As soon as the Chew comes on I turn off the TV . I will NEVER watch it and have asked all my family and friends to do the same….
I’ve been watching Days of our Lives for quite a while, once you learn about the characters, you learn to love this show as i have, it has the same time slot as AMC.
With all the obesity in this country ABC thinks The Chew would up their ratings has got to be out of their minds. I am not impressed with terrible loud mouth actors slinging fat around.

I’m one of millions and millions of fans, I will not watch the Chew now or ever. It could be the last and only show on television, and I would just throw out my television. I hate the chew, I don’t want the chew, I don’t care for the chew and I don’t care about the people in the chew, I don’t care for the chews food. I’m italian and I make my own stuff or I go to Lydia’s kitchen on channel 11 WTTW, that’s all I care about. I don’t care if Mario Batelli is on the chew cooking italian dishes, it’s the idea he’s on the chew. If he was on the food network, I will watch. But because the chew took the place of AMC, I will not ever watch the chew, not now, not ever! But just so you know, I don’t like the chew even if it were on the food network, reality just isn’t my thing.

I refuse to watch such a stupid show. If I wanted to watch a cooking show I would go to The Food Network . I have watched AMC most of my life and it was very sad to see it go off air. However I am now watching another soap on another channel. Thumbs down to ABC for dumping AMC !!! As soon as ABC dumps OLTL …I will be done with ABC Networks. Hello NBC ! 🙂
I knew the “Chew” would go down in flames. Brian Frons hired terrible writers for the purpose of bringing down AMC. I wrote to Carolyn Hinsey 2 years ago at Soap Opera Digest complaining that Chuck Pratt was trying to write AMC into oblivion and it was true.They knew they were going to cancel the show when they forced everyone to move to California, only to fire them all. How cruel was that? ABC did not even consider us working folks who DVR’d the show or watched at night on Soapnet- which is also turning on the fans. My entire life I watched Ryan’s Hope, AMC, and Another World. The last 2 are gone forever and now Soapnet has pulled Ryan’s Hope re-runs. ABC is really trying to stick it to us, but they will feel the wrath of soap lovers- Another World was cancelled 14 years ago and I have NEVER watched NBC since- Now I have dumped ABC as well. Thank god for cable and my many VCR tapes (yes I still have that too) of AMC and Another World. I hope ABC goes down in flames fast (and take that freaking CHEW show with you). Chew on tjhat, ABC
When you try to leave a negative comment about The Puke on the ABC website it doesn’t show up! They want everyone to think all the comments are positive! This show is going down fast but they won’t admit their big mistake! The Revolution that takes OLTL’s place won’t do any better!
I agree that the writers were doing a terrible job trying to kill All My Children. Aiden and Greenlee had the potential to be a supercouple when the show fired Aiden and got Ryan and Greenlee back together in spite of the fact that numerous fans objected. Then they killed off both Madison’s baby and Angie’s baby. Next they had Marissa turn from straight to gay and JR become paranoid and start drinking again. There is no way all those mistakes were done by accident. I hope the Chew continues to have bad ratings. ABC took away a romantic escape when it cancelled “All My Children”

I have watched the soaps since before I was in Elementary school. I do not watch the Chew. But I don’t see how people think it’s going down in flames. AMC was getting from a 1.7 to a 1.9 (The whole week averaged) The Chew seems to be getting about the same ratings maybe a little higher. It’s so much cheaper than our soaps so it can get only half of what AMC gets and still make money. Partisan in sports politics and tv I guess.
I’m not angry that they have made changes to daytime. the reality is 260 shows a year 5 days a week is not feasible anymore. Back in the 70’s daytime was more diversified. They had games shows and talk show and dramas plus repeats of primetime shows.
They did not have to cancel AMC and OLTL. If it cost 50 million at 260 shows a year than just cut the number of shows and that will save money.
They could have had AMC on Mondays and Friday 2 days a week 104 shows a year, which would cut the cost by more than half. They could have had the chew on tuesday- thursday. Or even 1 day a week for 52 shows a year (way more than Prime time). THEY DID NOT HAVE TO CANCEL, THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES.
If it is 52 shows a year they could produce that in 4 months giving the actors a 8 month Hiatus TO DO ANY WORK THEY CAN FIND. if they timed the daytime hiatus to start just when prime time is starting production, they daytime stars could do prime time and daytime at the same time.
As for the chew belonging on the food network, ABC does not own the food network. that’s like saying soaps only belong on the soap network and sports on a sports network and sci fi shows only on the sci Fi network.
I hope Nbc and CBS read this and have more brains than ABC, why they would not even try it first is what makes me angry.

The reason The Chew is going down is flames is that their numbers were so so to begin with and by weeks end were worse than most every other show on daytime tv. So there you go. And my bet is that the numbers will continue to fall further. Curiousity causes an initial high such as with Two and a half men, but they lost almost 40% of their audience by week 2. The writing is on the wall and this Chew crap is tanking. ABC is going to kill its daytime numbers for good if they don’t reconsider their mistake. Bye bye Brian.
Big mistake putting the Chew in place of All My Children. You took away a big part of a lot of our lives. We have watched All My Children for so many years we know the characters like family. What a shame you thought so little of your fans. I will not and never will give the Chew one minute of air time.
I TOTALLY AGREE W/YOU! I understand that it cost A LOT of $$ to produce a show nearly 300 days a year. My suggestion that I’d submitted to ABC again and again is that they could have produced a daytime soaps talk show. Except for sweeps weeks months or around major holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons), this talk show would focus on a particular soap all week. – for example, 1st week of month-AMC, 2nd week-OLTL, 3 week-GH. So during AMC’s week they would focus on AMC related themes and ideas.In June, they could have done the best or worst weddings in show history. They could have even had Fridays as the day the “stay tuned” day where they got us ready for the show to come back and give previews w/writers, directors, actors and/or producers. They could have even answered questions live via facebook, email, twitter and snail mail. This would have cut at least 2 months worth of production out of their budgets, 3 if they ignored sweeps! They could even have shown old episodes but done them w/pop-up video and/or w/hosts giving commentary throughout. Killing the soaps genre is not the answer. Finding new ways of keeping it going is. No one wants another STUPID talk show or game show (Let’s Make a Deal-such a waste of Wayne Brady’s talents). We’re already on information overload!! Boy, I miss Saturday AM cartoons!!

Anyway, U shoud save this thought, and post if frequently, and also send this as a letter to Disney and abc, Tonja Walker (Alex) OLTL, posted it on Facebook, and one time isn’t enough. These type of thoughts gets people thinking, bc they can’t think of everything. Many minds are certainly better than the same overworked brains that made this stupid decision. And dont forget to send soap to abc studios in nyc, and sign the petiton going arid on Facebook, Cancel cable for a Dish/means no $ to Disney and no abc before 2pm and much after it, if at all only for GH. This is what we have vowed to do.

ITA! There was a concerted effort to destroy AMC! I have not even turned my TV on at 1 pm since AMC went off the air. I can’t even stand the commercials for this abomination of a show. And from what I see of the cast, ewww, is all I have to say. Frons should be banned f rom working in TV every again. Or at least he should be called what he really is — a hatchet man.
I have been married for 46 years and I really don’t need another cooking show telling me how to cook. I wanted my love in the afternoon, AND Brian Frons and that other simpleton Anne Sweeney screwed with us. And watching a bunch of odd balls who are pushing their style of cooking is a huge turn off.
I think they should move the CHEW to the Food NetWork and do something useful and show people how to prepare food for special needs, that you can stand to choak down. Like for DIABETES, AND HEART PATIENTS. WOW WHAT A CONCEPT, SOMETHING USEFUL.
Ugghh, I can only watch the Chew for about 5 minutes, and then I have to change the channel. What a horrible show. Today, they were throwing food and one another while the cooking segment was still going on. Some of the hosts are awful! There camera angles tend to be off as well. It looks so unprofessinnal. Theres no draw to keep your attention on the show what so ever…….

I am so glad to hear “the chew” is not doing well, will serve them right if they go down the drain!!! If the writers of All MY Children would have written stories like the ones in the final weeks they would have kept their followers. I myself have been watching since 1977 until the final day and I’m counting down the days until January when they go online. the chew doesn’t even have people on there that is worth looking at to keep anyone interested. they need to just go away!!!!! My TV will never be turned on that channel during the lunch hour EVER!!!!!

Totally agree. Hope ‘The Chew’ “gags” on itself !! I AM HOPING “AGAINST ALL ODDS” THAT MAYBE AMC WILL BE ABLE TO PUT BACK ON TV WHERE IT BELONGS !! Know AMC is supposed to come out on line in Jan, 2012…but many of us do not have computers which can”stream” TV shows (or don’t have the power capabilites to get a strong enough signal to get online streaming via comuter. I’ve heard that AMC is planning on streamng; AND, there are so many of us who are a bit older and do not really know (or understand) all the “ins & outs” of computer stuff. I can only (barely) get to my e-mail and NOT able to do or understand how to do the ‘fancy stuff” of “streaming” & so forth. There was also “talk” that perhaps AMC would be put on a cable channel which would be better (for me & many others, I’m certain). There is / has been serious considerations & talk about AMC going on a cable channel! Theyare bringing back “Dallas” and puttingit on a TV Cable channel. WHY NOT AMC???
The chew sucks, I will never watch that show. The commercials alone make me sick. All of the AMC and OLTL fans are standing strong against ABC for their canceling of the soaps.

As a huge All My Children fan, I will never watch the Chew! It’s too bad because I love cooking shows and the Food Network. It was career suicide for the chew to be put in AMC’s spot. I am also checking out the stations’s soap operas during that 1pm time slot.

I might have been interested in The Chew had it not bumped AMC. I refuse to watch it simply because ABC did not listen to us and ended AMC. Whatever they put in place of OLTL, I will not watch that either! I do not watch much of anything on ABC anymore because they have proven that they do not care what the viewers want.
Glad to see the ratings drop. I can’t believe any network thought we needed another quirky cooking show. I refuse to watch on general principle. I stared watching All My Children when Phil Brent (perched in a tree) watched Erica marry Jeff . I feel like I’ve lost some old familiar friends I could count on for a good distraction.
We all want AMC back on the air!!! Nobody wants to see, “The Chew.” Nothing worse than having to watch cooking when housewives don’t like cooking any more than men do.
AMC is awesome and made my day. I don’t believe the ratings fell for long periods of time nor did people not want to see AMC.
Please bring AMC back and let us people that stay home enjoy our soap again. I have been watching AMC since I was 16 so if it has lasted this long I don’t see the reason for canceling the show!

Oh Wow! Are you an Abc Fan of AMC and OLTL? I mean, you didn’t say you LIKED watching the show, YOU said you LOVED watching The Chew!!!! There is a difference. So what I’m asking is, RU a Fan of OLTL and AMC ?
I watched AMC since 1972. I loved the show. It gave me direction as a young woman.
Now I have an extra hour to do whatever I do, and not watching TV is a blessing.
I agree with everyone who chooses to boycott the chew as I have chosen to do that myself. If I want to watch a cooking show I will purposely watch the cooking channels! ABC you need new management and should listen to the viewers… I miss AMC!!!
I am still disgusted about All My Children going off air and had decided to NEVER watch the Chew to begin with. I won’t even let my TV land on that channel during that time frame! I’m glad they are failing and I hope to see them fail miserably…not because of individuals but because it was a stupid network decision in the first place! How come the other networks did not cancel their longstanding soaps? ABC should be ashamed and they should go back to the AMC crew and BEG forgiveness and get them back on ASAP! As someone said earlier, you should have checked with the viewers before you made such a stupid financial decision! I hope ABC chokes on the CHEW! I totally agree this show The Chew belongs on The Food Network…. I’d like to know who they surveyed saying that this show would be for the better then AMC … like wise for OLTL ….All this is doing is going to make Daytime Soap Opera viewers not watch ABC any longer at this time slots and boycott the sponsors that pay for their commercials ….. I know I’ve found other things to do … grudgingly but to do in these time spots… ABC YOU DID THE WRONG THING!!!

I HAVE watched The Chew and you never learn anything because they are to busy giggling like hyenas. They are loud and never finish a recipe. Daphne Oz acts like a dumb blond, Michal Simon like a 10 year old girl, Carla creeps me out wiggling around all the time. I have to say that I could deal with Mario and Clinton, but this show really sucks!!

I love the chew. I watch it everyday. If I can’t watch live then I watch it online. AMC was dull and just seemed like everyone slept with every one. At least this show gives you ideas to help you live healthier. AMC taught you nothing
Are you kidding me?! Every time I see a commercial for it, they’re stuffing their faces with fattening food! And with Daphne’s long hair hanging near the food, I wouldn’t eat it! Even the name sounds disgusting- The Chew! Doesn’t Mario own a pair of big boy long pants & regular shoes? That crook got sued by employees at his restaurants because he kept some of their tips! it makes me very happy that the chew sucks! i was very hurt and disappointed when they decided to take AMC off the air. i had watched this show since the beginning. i was part of pine valley from 1 to 2 every day. i hope ABC loses it’s shirt on this show, as it didn’t have any loyality to it’s viewers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i also turn the channel when the chew comes on and i always will!

I totally am still so frustrated with the fact that ABC could be this mislead as to think that to replace fantasy and drama with the real heartache of obesity and self indulgence is ok in today’s society when obesity has become front page health care news. I am still dissapointed a year or so later, even after the cancelation of revolution does the threat of General Hospital’s demise threaten us still. I am greatful to the new writer ‘s of Genearl Hospital for doing their best to not give up with out a fight. By incorporarting some of our One life to live favorites. I never miss an episode since my grandmother first introduced me to General Hopsital when I was merely 11 years old. Jager ,Karen, Brenda, Sonny, Luke, Laura , Jax, Carly, Nicolas,Felicia ,Catherine, AJ, Edward, Monica, Mack, Stone, Jason, Lilly just to name a few of my favorites. I really cant believe that america does not still share the emotional roller coaster of a good story anymore, c’mon we all love a good cliffhanger it keeps us invested and devoted till the story ends thankfully it never does. I have no interest in watching The Chew. Who owns a Neilson box? I don’t. If the ratings are dependent on people with Neilson boxes, then it’s no wonder “soaps are supposedly DEAD .” Hardly anybody owns a neilson box. The results are skewed in favor and bias to those who own neilson boxes.
The boxes are just one tool to measure ratings. There are random surveys and other tools that Nielson uses that are designed to capture a broad range of demographic data. Please do the research before opening your mouth and looking foolish.

Dave’s knowledge of the Nielson rating system is as flawed as his manners and social skills. Yes, there are surveys and other tools distributed to a very small part of the population called Nielsen Families. The selection process for those families is archaic and hasn’t been representative of the current and actual demographics for at least 20 years. The great scientific way that the ratings are accured by Nielsen are to take these box and survey results (that are inaccurate and outmoded) and multiply. So how about you, Dave, do some research before opening your mouth and looking foolish.
I have no idea what it is and I don’t care. There was plenty of outcry from the fans that ABC knew what we wanted and they ignored it.

I do believe the network has underestimated the power of the housewife. We were a dogmatic bunch, loyal to our soaps and the network they were delivered by. With the soaps we loved being cancelled or moved to the internet, we no longer have a reason to display that loyalty. I certainly hope the sponsors are listening.

Yay Sean! That’s right! And I have four sons, all who watch, too. All under the age of 25. Good for you for appreciating characterization and quality above quick and cheap! And as for capturing the target demographics… Well, I’m in that one for several years myself. I make 99% of all of the purchasing decisions in my home and all of the income. The Pukey Spew, ABC and Disney and any of their sponsors will not be getting another penny of that! All of my buying power will now be behind Net Flix, Six Flaggs and Knott’s Berry Farm.
The thing that I think the network didn’t think about, is I and probably other people have watched a lot of ABC evening shows because when I was watching my daytime soaps they seriously over advertised there evening shows. Now that I don’t watch ABC daytime I won’t know anything about the evening shows. So I won’t be watching those either.
I am and will continue to boycott the replacement shows. I don’t know how they gather the ratings these days, but I make sure my cable box is not on ABC during these times.
I am not a housewife either but I have been recording all three ABC soaps for about 16 years and watching them at night. Now I have a DVR it is SO much easier than all the VHS tapes, but soon, it will be down to only recording one soap.
I work and DVR AMC. I’ve been watching since I was 14, my teenagers watch at night with me…just like everyone here, I will never ever watch the Chew or anything that goes into that time-slot. Stupid move getting rid of AMC, a lot of us loved that show. Bring it back!

They ask for feedback but only positive, complementary comments are left! Freedom of speech + press huh? Also people represnting them are calling viewers + SOAP fans names such as MORAN + TURD!! (Then deleting it when reported)
I think the general pubic needs to become aware of what they do when they don’t like negative feedback! Letters have been sent + they have been reported to FB!
I noticed this too. I posted one myself on their Facebook page, and it was almost immediately deleted, and then five seconds later they changed their account settings to not accept comments from Facebook users who did not ‘like’ the page. I wonder if they think censorship of constructive criticism (like the fact that their show is total crap, and doesn’t even hold a candle to All My Children) will help to boost their ratings. I posted on FB when I first learned of AMC being cancelled and within a few minutes, it was deleted. I have lost faith in ABC, the previous two fall seasons, they have halted new shows, mid season, never giving them a chance.
Instead of contacting ABC, we need to email, call, and write to our local affiliates. They are the ones who worry most about advertisements.
I hope the low ratings are seen as a statement that there are too many cooking / talk shows and people are getting fed up, literally.
I have revised and added to my statement going to sponsors, etc…..

I am broken hearted about the loss of my beloved soaps, but I am seriously pissed about the way soap fans have been treated over the loss of them. Being ignored when crying out that we wanted our shows and not the cooking replacement was bad enough. But to be deleted when we voiced our opinions, to be called names because we had the guts to speak out and up for what we wanted, to read interviews where the heads of ABC lie blythely saying, “We listen to what our viewers want” while so many are screaming “No! No! No!” Then there are the people who would say give the replacement a chance. Why? I wasn’t interested anyway, being insulted and lied to isn’t going to move me to be kind. I want The spew to tank. The hosts were rude and condescending. I want the ABC and Disney executives who made these decisions to lose their jobs and never work in television again because of their proven track record for bad decision making and alienation of viewers. I want ABC and Disney to go down in flames for what they have done to the casts and crews of such wonderful shows, what they’ve done to and how they’ve treated their viewers.
Disney/ABC didn’t want to pay attention to the loyal viewers. Keep it up Disney/ABC—I watch your daytime network 1 hour per day now and that will be ending in Jan when OLTL is canceled and removed. I watch a couple of the primetime shows—ones that have been on before this season, but will not watch any of the new shows nor will I in the future. I support the ratings of OLTL and GH because I want to show that people are watching. Soapnet is owned by Disney/ABC so watching it there doesn’t hurt ABC, it just does not show up in the ratings for ABC Daytime. I also watch them when they reair on soapnet to add viewership there as well.
Did you know that older episodes of AMC, OLTL and GH are being aired in the middle of the night on soapnet? starts at 3AM Pacific time I believe…
thing is ABC considers the American, no whole world homemaker not important enough to entertain. HOWEVER, GUESS WHO TAKES CARE OF THE WORLD, WAIT IT IS THE INSIGNIFICANT HOMEMAKER THAT KEEPS THIER OWN HOUSE CLEAN AND RUNNING WHILE THE ARE OUT DESTROYING THE HOMEMAKER AT HOME.
And just is case my anger shows. I am not just anther dumb housebody, I graduated with a 4.0 from college, watched my soaps everyday and was a mother to 3 children who was never left with a babysitter more then 3 hours a day, that as I put it then, the sunday school teachers gave me a 3 hour vacation each day we went to service and that was enough for me.
See watching the soaps did not make me a bad mother, just made me better at being a mother.

There are comments all over the internet from people (not just disgruntled soap fans) who say that The Chew is an awful show! The pacing, the burned pizzas, the misinformation provided by so called “experts,” the sometimes bored and other times hysterical audience response, the forced interaction between the hosts, hosts that don’t wash their hands before cooking, that don’t tie back their long hair and let it dangle into the food, hosts that can’t be bothered to show up for the premiere of their very first show and unhealthy recipes ladden with carbs and sugars gleened from a battered Betty Crocker recipe box bought at a garage sale… Well, for a cooking show that was so heavily advertised and touted as a program that would bring style and healthy food ideas to our homes it all just turn out to be a recipe for disaster. ABC = Another Bad Choice! Now the ratings are proving it! Brian Frons should have listened to the soap opera viewers and the loud public outcry that lasted for literally months, instead of deleting comments right and left while trying to force feed The Chew to them during the broadcast time of All My Children. Who is sorry now ABC???

I think ABC/DISNEY have gone reality show for the most part. I do not watch nighttime ABC and I only watch OLTL and GH for now. When they are gone, I will no longer have a need for ABC. I don’t even watch the local news ABC affiliate anymore. A lot of people will be out of work because of Disney/ABC and Frons; and, a ABC will lose a lot of history from the American Broadcasting System as it will surely go the way of the CHEW.
Well, Frons is out of a job, too… Sadly, too late for AMC and OLTL. Now to get rid of Sweeney.
I’ve pretty much given up my ABC viewing. Once OLTL and GH are gone, so will I be. Last season they had a new show “Body of Proof”. I watched it and used my DVR to get “The Good Wife”. I’ve watched GMA since its’ debute, but, now I watch “Morning Joe” and I don’t even like Joe Scarboro, but his show is edgy, which is more than I can say about the NBC/CBS counter-parts. Every Sunday evening, I’d sit in front of my TV with a box of tissues watching Extreme Home Make-over, as of Friday, Sept. 23rd, my television viewing habits changed. My youngest daughter, my only son, and my 3 young adult grandchildren all live in the same house, and we have 7 TVs’, we will NOT be watching ABC or any of its subsidiaries (i.e. ABC Family)
I’ve been a day one viewer of AMC, OLTL, and GH. My grandparents, mother, 3 adult children, and 4 of the 5 grandchildren were all ABCD viewers. We had every age group and dynamic covered. In case there’s a question as to whether my family is nothing but a bunch of layabout do nothings, no, we are not. I retired from the Dept. of Justice as a Paralegal, My grandfather retired from the Dept. of Defense as a Munitions Expert. My mother was a Registered Nurse. My youngest daughter is a V.P. of a large multi-state, multi-region bank. Two of my grandchiden are in college. And yet the interest in ABC’s daytime drama is as strong today as it was back in the 60’s.
In case there is any doubts to my intent, I am boycotting ABC and everything Disney.
Reading your comment was inspiring Lynda. I have always watched ABC in the past, but no more. As of January 2012, ABC is dead to me and my family and my friends. I also encourage my customers to boycott the network that doesn’t care about it’s fans, the one’s who for so many years have been loyal. We have been shat on enough!
The show is terrible. In these tough economic times, 25% of children in the U.S.A. go to bed hungry. In what world are happy families sitting around a table talking. People are concerned where their next meals are coming from. This is just pure advertising…..as obviously bad as the Nate Burkus show. He does advertising for Kohl’s during his entire show. The Chew will be that soon too. The sad part is…..millions of people will watch and enjoy being advertised to.
Could not have happened to a better group of people. Clinton is the only one out of this group that I even a little bit liked . . . not anymore. Not only will I not watch the “poo”, now I will no longer watch “What Not To Wear.” Yeah, let them talk about us soap fans being bitter. We have every right to be bitter and we ARE!!

Don’t expect ABC or Disney to take any heed of how this has affected the fans. They don’t care. They set out to destroy the soaps and they’ve succeeded as far as they are concerned. It’s up to us to throw our support behind PP and the soaps when they go online. You know what they say …money talks and BS walks.

I will not watch the chew ever. I have been boycotting ABC since it was announced that the soaps are cancelled. I only watch OLTL and GH and then I turn the channel to Fox. I hope Chew’s ratings continue to drop off the air. Bring back AMC and leave OLTL alone.

Never will I ever watch the Chew! I watch Food Network on weekends. Now I will not watch anything on ABC after OLTL. I loved AMC and nothing can ever replace it especially a show lke the Chew!
I will never watch “The Spew”. Instead, this week I’ve been watching “The Young and the Restless.” Bianca was on today! She plays a lawyer! Of course, I miss AMC with all my heart. Personally, I hope Brian Frons and Ann Sweeney make an appearance on “The Spew” and get rushed off the set with food poisoning.
My grandmother had the Chew on today, and she didn’t see anything special about it. She doesn’t plan on watching it again.
I HOPE Frons and Sweeney chews on crow for what they did to ABC Daytime. We were a legacy and you just threw the loyal cast & crew and viewers under a bus, just to save money. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. HA!
I think ABC and Brian Fron knew The Chew is going to fail. Their plans are to take off the soaps and put other shows in the time slot. If that show fails than put another one on, so on. We just need to remember no matter what they put on in the time slot is to boycott it and keep it up.
I totally agree with you on that. Better yet, boycott ABC all together in all time slots as of the day OLTL goes off the air.

This show should be titled “The Ewwwwwwwwww.” It’s about as appetizing as as a feces sandwich washed down with a urine/period blood cocktail. Also, that Carla chick looks and acts like she’s on crack. I wish someone would harpoon her.

I have not seen this show, however, my Mother who LOVES the Food Network gave it a try and by Wednesday told me to take it off her DVR auto record list. She said it is BAD, teaches you NOTHING about cooking.
Funny how these shows that replace the soaps do not do very well. I know they are cheaper to produce, but I guess they prefer passion-less viewers who make sure to tune in to their shows. Instead they get people who probably can’t change the channel or have not many other choices to watch.
I have stop watching anything that ABC puts on. Bring back all my children and OLTL
What really sucks is after ABC figures out that they have made a HUGE mistake it’s going to be too late for the cast.. I bet they are even more devested then we are, if that’s possible!!!

Last night I watched the episode where Jessie tells Angie their baby died. (I have been saving my DVR’d AMC) After it ended I turned off my TV to go to bed, thinking about Angie and Jessie and the mothers out there who suffered the tragedy of a still birth. It distracted me long enough from my own problems to fall asleep.
Isn’t that better then taking a sleeping pill? Maybe when Dr. Oz has his infomercial/show he can suggest watching a soap opera as an insommia cure. But that would ruin his daughter’s ratings. Never, ever has thinking about food caused me to fall asleep. One tip to lose weight? DON’T think about food.
What’s really funny is how much ABC is promoting The Chew, and how quickly everyone is losing interest. Trying to replace our soaps with that garbage was the absolute worst idea ever! ABC, do you see now, how angry your viewers are? The best Christmas gift I can get this year is seeing that crappy show being cancelled and Brian Frons being fired.
This change has devasted a lot of people. The Chew is a joke compared to the 41 year old Soap that I have watched my whole life. Even my 15 year old daughter that has been watching All my Children all her life misses it everyday. We go home and it’s like a void in our lives now. ABC has no idea how many people they have hurt by this ridiculous decision.. If we wanted a Food show we would go to the food channel.. Makes no sense at all!!! You couldn’t pay me to watch the Chew and I bet that is how a lot of people feel.. Boycott THE CHEW!!!
When Coco-Cola messed with the formula, the customers revolted, protested and boycotted until they got “the original” Coke back.
Last season when Criminal Minds killed off the character “Emily Prentiss”, the viewers and fans wrote in complained and let the sponsors know that they weren’t happy. As a cliffhanger, NCIS-Los Angeles put the character “Hetty Lange” as played by Linda Hunt, the viewers let CBS know that they weren’t going to stand for it. All I can say is, that Hetty’s still on.
My point in the above recitation is that WE have to stick to our guns. WE have to continue to boycott not only The Chew, but, ALL of ABC and Disney. Nothing gets peoples attention more, than after someone takes them for granted, then to refuse to play with them anymore. ABC took us for granted, and now we’ve gathered up out jackets and coats, and gone home. We don’t want to play with the cheaters anymore.
We must not give up, we cannot become despondent, we can’t get the attitude that we are just one person or a small group and that we don’t matter. Every person counts, we have to keep it up for weeks and months or even longer if we have to.
Just remember they (ABC/Disney) needs us just as much (really more than) we need them.
And to add to that…..all of the AMC fans need to tune in to OLTL to help get the ratings up even more. Really stick it to ABC. This is one of the greatest ways to get even…..and possibly let the network see that Brian Frons no longer needs to be the head of ABC daytime.

I agree, continue to watch OLTL (we need this show to have awesome numbers). It should also be noted that we also need to continue watching GH because they are NOT immune to what has happened to AMC and OLTL.
I have been watching amc for 35 years and feel like abc had killed my family members. The choice of the chew as a replacement is a joke. Michael Symon is a worse diva than Erica Kane on her worst day, wait isn’t he and iron chef. In case you missed it he will be happy to tell you and Daphne’s dad is Dr Oz. Who cares they all have no chemistry and no information that is worhwhile to give. I tryed to give the show a chanc and could only tolerate about 10 minutes a day for the first week. Won’t bother again. I can always watch the real food channel or the young and the restless.
maybe they can contact the cast of amc and get them to return if the don’t already have other jobs

I fear even Prospect Park will be too late in getting most of AMCs cast … it’s taking too long to get thru all the red tape.
I could barely watch The Chew.One wants to relax while watching TV but this show was so nerve racking that it made me feel terribly uneasy.Nothing about the show works.It reminds me of a local news program when they want to fit a mini cooking segment in at the last minute.It’s easy to lose track because it;s not connected topically well.I will NEVEr watch The Chew again.
