The General Hospital Promo Featuring The Arrival of Kim Delaney

By Michael Fairman

Published

on

This week’s episodes of General Hospital have mostly been pre-empted due to major league baseball – but late news on Thursday morning has that a new episode will actually air today following the postponement of the Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs game.

So look for an all-new GH that was originally set to air tomorrow to air today.  As to Friday’s GH, if the Marlins and Cubs game is rescheduled for that time, then ABC will air the game instead of the daytime drama series.

Now on to next week’s exciting promo heralding the arrival of daytime favorite Kim Delaney, in her new role rumored to be that of Demi Moore’s former role of Jackie Templeton.

In the promo for the week of October 5th through the 9th, Sonny (Maurice Benard) asks Carly (Laura Wright) what the big secret is as the voice-over says , “Everything is about to change.”  Meanwhile, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) suggests it’s time to start praying.  So, just what is going on here?  Then, the ending of the spot features Delaney leaving us with more exciting questions then answers.

Soap fans loved Kim as All My Children’s Jenny Gardner early in her career (1981-1984) and have continually followed her path into primetime roles on N.Y.P.D. Blues, Army Wives, Chicago Fire, and CSI: Miami, to name but a few.

Watch the GH promo below, then let us know what you think about what will go down when Kim Delaney shows up on-screen? Comment below.

Something to do with Nelle. Like Heather Webber she’ll rise from the ashes….or rather the dirt since she fell over a cliff. And speaking of….was there water or ground at the bottom? Was that made clear?

It’s Nelle. And there’s only a couple of survival scenarios. 1a)she fell into a copiously leafed tree and hung onto a branch or 2b) she fell to a second convenient cliff with minor abrasions and walked off after hiding there. Otherwise she fell headlong into rushing waters, knocked her silly butt unconscious, floated downstream into the path of an oncoming yacht(after drinking gallons of river water) and was rescued “amnesiac”. Or like in the original Aladdin she fell onto a large steaming pile of Haku’s fertilizer and survived. Either way she’s alive. It reminds me of several years back on Coronation Street the British soap. The local vicar fell off a cliff after being terrorized by a resident whose mother he killed accidentally years earlier. On camera CGI it was so high and far down he never should have survived. He had some major injuries, got a quick drug addiction because of pain just so he could scandalously shoot up heroin in the Church pews, and now he’s just fine. Soaps. LOL. We should all be so lucky.

I loved Kim Delaney as Jennie on AMC. I remember watching the explosion and being so devastated. That was back when “our stories” were watchable and enjoyable. This show is unwatchable.

DMRR…Key word for me is enjoyable. It’s been such a long time since I could feel good or smile watching GH. Except maybe for Olivia and Robert playing James Bond in Monte Carlo.

Rose, I haven’t watched, in I don’t know how long. Every time I turn it on, there is an onslaught of Mr. Laura Wright. He is just horrid.

I’m curious about what her appearances on the show will do for it long-term. I wasn’t an ABC soap fan growing up so I missed the whole Jenny and Greg thing on AMC. I also haven’t seen her in anything else I’ve ever watched and am unfamiliar with her draw. But, people who know her work are excited and I hope that means a good character, good story and good ratings for GH and the fans. Good luck!

36 years later??? That has to be a record

This is tied to Nelle and the return of Morgan who saved Nelle’s life and married her!!!-ki

Jimh I thought Nelle too but it’s not. She’s the new Jackie Templeton. LOL. Go figure. It ties in with Holly. Just weird.

i forgot about Jackie

It is weird.

I really enjoyed Demi Moore and Janine Turner as sisters Jackie and Laura Templeton….I just don’t understand why now?

Rumor here in Hell is that Jackie – who was a journalist her first time in Port Charles, and likely, still is – has been investigating Cyrus the Virus for some time and will collaborate with Lulu somehow. Not sure when Lulu would have ever met her in the past, but assuming she stays in contact with her father, Luke & Jackie would be old friends. I think she was already gone by the time Laura got away from Stavros Cassadine back in the day though.

And of course, Robert Scorpio knew Jackie really well. In the Biblical sense, even.

Robert made a comment to Lulu on Thursday about a legendary columnist without naming Jackie Templeton. Its her, its Kim Delaney and it is tied in with Holly’s disappearance.

JACKIE !!!

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Take a look at the official GH spoilers for the week below.

MONDAY, AUGUST 3
Jason makes a sacrifice for Danny. Elizabeth becomes privy to a secret. Carly is touched. Valentin has a warning for Nina. Josslyn cautions Brennan.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 4
Brook Lynn and Chase celebrate a milestone. Trina gets an earful. Carly’s plan backfires. Curtis is skeptical. Michael is anxious about his family’s’ future.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5

THURSDAY, AUGUST 6
Sonny makes a stunning announcement. Serena makes her move. Willow faces a new threat. Isaiah takes the stand. Lucy questions Laura.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 7

Check out the latest ABC promo for General Hospital entitled, “What Did You Do?” below.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
