The Other Side Of The Story: Prospect Park Tried To Work Deal To Share Characters With GH To No Avail!

While the news broke early this morning that Michael Easton (John), Kristen Alderson (Starr), and Roger Howarth (Roger) will all now be returning to General Hospital, but in new roles, it’s important to remember the back-story, and to understand some of the reported behind the scenes deal-structure attempts between Prospect Park and ABC, which now gives disappointing news for One Life to Live fans, and in many ways General Hospital fans! (Since the actors can no longer play, John, Starr, or Todd).
It is important to note, that according to a piece today at EW.com, who spoke to an insider close to the situation, “Prospect Park tried to work out a deal to share the characters, to no avail.” According to one high-level executive familiar with the negotiations, Prospect only needed Alderson to work one week on OLTL and then she could return to GH. It wanted Easton for up to four weeks before he would be free to return to Port Charles, as well.”
For soap fans, let’s recall that ABC canceled both soaps in a devastating move in 2011 and licensed the shows to Prospect Park, which in turn means if the One Life and AMC reboots work online ABC stands to make a profit! So why then wouldn’t ABC just be willing to do the character crossovers for the limited time with Prospect Park, who attempted to work a deal out for the good of both entities?
This was also related via EW.com today when they posted, “It’s unfortunate that ABC and Prospect couldn’t come up with a mutually beneficial deal to share the characters, since ABC stands to profit from OLTL and AMC should they succeed online. Besides the $8.5 million it makes from Prospect annually in license fees, ABC is set to earn a cut of Prospect’s profits (should there be any), according to high-level source.”
What is all the more puzzling to this picture is that Prospect Park has done an incredible job of getting the shows back on their feet, while bringing back much of the core original cast members of both shows that were available to them, obtaining new studio space, building brand new sets, and hiring some of the best production talent familiar with the brand of AMC and OLTL, and writers familiar with the shows themselves, to ensure the audience will be satisfied and happy. And, without Prospect Park’s efforts of finding an online home for Llanview and Pine Valley, the audience who fought to have their shows back would have no where to watch them or even seem new episodes!
On-Air On-Soaps recently visited the new studios and spoke with cast members from both shows, who are thrilled and delighted to be back to work, and in awe of just how respectful Prospect Park’s head-honchos Jeff Kwatinetz and Rich Frank have treated them. Kwatinetz and his team have been hard at work firing on all-cylinders to get the shows back to the fans as quickly as possible, while keeping the quality that soap fans have come to expect and even raising the bar higher!
One more note of this picture that should also not be ignored: As it stands Prospect Park, as of this writing, cannot even use the original URL’s www.allmychildren.com or www.onelifetolive.com to build and house the shows official websites to help market their programs, because according to EW.com, “ABC hasn’t released them. Anyone who tries to access them is immediately sent to ABC’s daytime hub.”
So One Life to Live and General Hospital fans there are a few questions for you over this conundrum: After reviewing the comments from EW.com, do you think ABC played fair here with Prospect Park in regards to the actors and characters in question? 51st Daytime Emmys: Outstanding Daytime Drama Series Nominations
On Thursday, the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards revealed nominations in several key categories via four entertainment news programs: Access Hollywood, E! News, Extra and Access Hollywood.
Three of the four announcements were major categories in the field of Daytime Dramas.
The nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series category are: The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, Neighbours and The Young and the Restless.

General Hospital won this category last year, and has the most all-time wins for a series in this category. For the first time, the beloved Australian-based soap opera, Neighbours is now eligible for competition due to its reboot which streams on Amazon Freevee.

The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out in ceremonies in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Friday night, June 7th.
Previous categories announced tonight via the entertainment news outlet included: Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

The nominations were revealed for the 51st annual Daytime Emmys. in the prestigious Lead Actress in a Drama Series category by Entertainment Tonight.
This comes ahead of tomorrow’s full list that is set to be unveiled at 12noon/9am PST on Friday.
In the running for this year’s Outstanding Lead Actress are Tamara Braun (Ava, Days of our Lives), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, The Bold and the Beautiful), Annika Noelle (Hope, The Bold and the Beautiful), Finola Hughes (Anna, General Hospital), Cynthia Watros (Nina, General Hospital) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, The Young and the Restless).

Previous winners in this category include GH’s Finola Hughes, Cynthia Watros and Y&R’s Michelle Stafford. Days of our Lives nominee had won in the Supporting Actress category twice in her career.

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’
We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.
Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.
Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story. The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.
The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed. Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”
No word yet on when The Workout will be released.

I am uphauled by ABC. This is the most ridiculous crap I’ve heard. The only one of them that could pull off another character is Michael/John. Kristen will ALWAYS be Starr an Roger will ALWAYS be Todd. So what is GH gonna do, make us believe that Starr and Todd have more twins…..(good grief people) These are characters I’ve loved since the beginning of their careers. It is just foolish and stupid!
I think that ABC knows that a stupid mistake has been made by one of their own by cancelling OLTL and AMC. And now they don’t want to help out Prospect Park in any way. They are probably hoping that PP will fail. But I really think that GH has stuck their foot in it again, because putting those 3 characters who have been on TV for so long in the same roles is going to backfire and not in a good way for ABC. It should be interesting to see what happens here.

I think ABC SHOT THEMSELVES in the foot cancelling these shows, the line up they offer me other than GH and DWTS is all I watch on that crap network, I think they would be quite happ to see GH fail and put another talk or cooking show on…I miss them and now I guess I have to pay to see them, they could have been grown up about it..how can these actors be something else now with the story line they had?

KRISTEN… There is no John with out Mike and Todd with out Roger… and no me watching ABC. Got to love General Hospital the past year.. only watched because of OLTL stars. I completely agree with you. I think they should have shared characters!! Star and Michael were so great together too and now she isn’t going to be Star at all -_- I have lost complete interest in watching OLTL now; it will never be the same!!
Some people are missing a HUGE part of this the ACTORS are only signed with ABC GH. Important to realize when PP worked the deal with GH for the 3 characters it was AFTER PP announced they would NOT be bringing OLTL online. That was at the end of 2011. Now it is 2013 and PP now is able to bring OLTL online. PP has rights to the characters ONLY the ACTORS have rights here people they have NO obligation to sign and do a crossover for PP. ABC GH can NOT force these actors to do a crossover. GH is taped in CA this online thing is taped in CT.I don’t blame the actors for not wanting to do this and I back them 100%. What was left out of this article RH/Todd did agree to do crossover and taped scenes for the online OLTL and that quickly turned into another hot mess. PP is the one that took legal action and ordered all 3 actors off the GH set on February 8th. I am glad and proud that ABC GH finally said enough is enough. I am proud of ABC GH for sticking up for the actors and doing what needs to be done so all 3 actors can return to work. PP has their characters and it is time for all to move on.

Let’s face it ABC is sooo stupid. It is clear to me they have no idea what the daytime viewer wants to watch on TV!!!!! These are the people who thought The Revolution , The Chew, and Katie could replace the soaps. These show are utter crap! They are total snore fests!!! It would be in ABC’s best interest to promote GH and support Prospect Park because let’s face it all of the replacement show will be canceled.
Just an FYI the man that was behind getting the two soaps cancelled on ABC and replacing them WAS FIRED. So clearly ABCD realized this was a huge mistake. They fired him right away. Don’t take my word for it look into it this was written about all over the place.
I agree it’s incredibly stupid. Personally I don’t like Alderson or Howarth on GH. Easton I can see staying.. ABC probably hates that this is working out but that was their mistake that fated day in 2011. As for PP if you are going to bring a fatherly figure on for Jack and Sam, please get TSJ to agree to occasional appearances as Victor. He IS Sam’s dad and the only dad Jack would accept anyway. Please do not give me a third Todd or 2nd Victor.. Geez what a mess ABC

I am really upset by this…these characters have been John, Todd and Starr since forever. Can’t see then as anyone else.
Prospect Park should just buy out their GH contract and put them back on OLTL cuz if it weren’t for ABC saying it was too costly to produce the shows, they would have never had to leave,
I say put them back on OLTL as these faces on GH won’t be the same as another character.
ABC definitely know that they have committed the biggest blunder by cancelling the two shows. They are being plain stupid. They just cannot accept the fact that Prospect Park has succeeded in bringing back the shows. After all the publicity and the fight by all the fans to bring back the shows, ABC would have realized what a grave mistake they have made. Welcome back OLTL… hope it will air in my country. I will be really disappointed if it does not. I often travelled to NY just to meet the characters of OLTL. They are very special to me…
I think this is unfair. Why should they play different characters on GH? When we all love them as they are. If that would be the case, I would rather see them on OLTL as their selves. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. ABC cancelled the shows so why should they get any say or any part of the finances?
Because intellectual property, like it or not, is a legitimate claim. PP, while getting the right to air new episodes, is “leasing” the characters that ABC already established. PP “owns” everything OLTL-they have the “characters” of Starr, Todd, and John back-that’s what should be important. Actors can be recast. The bottom line is, do you want OLTL (or GH for that matter) to survive and thrive-or are you just selfish and in this for one character or couple? The choice is yours. I never said this was fair, but if you TRULY want OLTL back-you MUST accept where things stand right now
The only reason I started watching GH again was because my OLTL characters were there after the cancellation of OLTL. After the 50th anniversary is done for GH, I will stop watching and just enjoy the reboot of OLTL.

GH is not to blame in this at all. ABC and Prospect Park as well as the actors themselves. While Howarth agreed to do OLTL for 4 weeks the actress who plays Starr had bough a new home and relocated to LA where GH Tapes. I believe her and Easton both did not want to travel back and forth to the east coast. So you can blame your beloved actors and actresses of these characters, as well as ABC and Prospect Park for not working out a deal beneficial to everyone!
Deb I agree with you 100%. I watched GH back in the day (luke,laura,ice princess) and then it got very boring with “mob stuff”. I have always been a OLTL fan and went back to GH (after many years) because my OLTL characters were on there. I actually enjoyed GH, but after the nurses ball Im done with GH, the story lines are horrible. Thats why Im going to stop watching GH!!!

First off I think it sucks that they would come back as different characters, John has to play John for Sam Roger has to play Todd for Carly amd Starr for michael. different charcters for gh no way the ratings have been up for months know you guys need too get it together. you did a great job on bringing back one life to live and all my children which I will watch but gh is the one I am addicted too. been watch for 22 years. also you should have made a deal with Katie she is on twice a day and thats not fare you should have put one of the soaps in one of those slots so yes you made a very bad mistake. I think you should have put the one with the highest ratings back on abc and the one with the lowest on the internet, take katie off its not fare she gets two time slots.
I read in the magazine soaps in depth that Michael Easton is not going back to One Life To Live and really likes being on General Hospital, I just hope that he stays on GH too!!!!!!!!!

Joliefan Forever, Michael did say that himself. He said he IS staying with GH. He said he is not going back to OLTL. It was not some spokesperson. It was Michael. He and his family live in California, his home state. He and his wife have a small daughter. OLTL tapes in Connecticut. He didn’t want to be away from family to commute. And he LOVES working on GH. Michael said that during the time he can’t be on GH he will be spending precious time with his little girl. He put this on Twitter and on Facebook himself.
Another reason why I boycott ABC!!!! The network is hurting, lets be real. I can’t wait to watch All My Children and One Life to Live online!!!

Why should ABC start making smart decisions now? They have never shown an inclination to do the smart thing. Their bottom line, today, is what matters most to them. They would rather have their balance sheets show a profit today than to think long term strategically. Too bad. Once again everyone gets short changed.

I honestly think PP is lying thru their teeth! They are the ones that messed up by cancelling the reboots in the first place, and the actors decided to move on, as they should have. ABC now has contracts with the actors and PP decided they wanted them back, well too bad!!
And for PP wanting control of the characters even when they’re on GH?! That’s total BS! I miss my beloved OLTL more than anything, but I am so beyond sick of all this garbage, I probably won’t even watch.
PP needs to give the 3 characters up and get over it!! This not the way to try to launch a new site and new shows, without the support of ABC or the fans!!

My partner and I just wrote VERY nasty notes to ABC and said pull it together and cooperate or we’re pulling the plug on ABC altogether! We’ve been trying to get all our friends to do the same! So ridiculous that ABC is being such a-holes about it! Sort of disrespects the actors and the characters after all the amazing work they’ve all done for many years!
Totally ignorant rules! Explain to everyone why Sky Chandler got to keep her role in AMC, OLTL, and GH? In the past there has been a few that crossed over with the same character names and roles for a short time. Keep the roles open for the future stories ABC!!!!

ABC needs to keep Todd, Starr and John on General Hospital. I do not want them to play other characters. If Prospect Park does not let the characters go to GH, I will NOT watch OLTL. OLTL will get along fine without those characters. General Hospital has improved 100% with the new regime.
Todd, Starr, and John are characters that belong on One Life To Live, that is Where they got started, This has nothing to do with PP, Abc should never have messed with the soaps in the first place, and they brought over Todd, Starr, and John to bring over the OLTL fans, I have watched GH for 50 years so I am a fan and not taking sides here, But put blame where it belongs and that is that ABC are the ones who played Head games with the fans for AMC and OLTL and they were also going to get rid of GH, for a long time, and now they are responsible for this mess, they should share the Characters and shut up because they don’t know a dam thing about pleasing the millions of soap fans that were sticking by them like I did for 50 years watching only their soaps.

When what you GH fans really mean is Let us have YOUR characters to SAVE our show! GH survived for 50 years without them characters and I’m sure PLENTY of GH fans would DISAGREE with you that “Todd”, “John”, & “Starr” have made GH the best soap on TV and so do the ratings…….Since GH is in 3rd in every bracket!

Why should Prospect Park be expected to let go three of their integral characters for their own soap? These characters are OLTL characters. They are not GH characters. Funny that the GH fans are upset because the addition of these three are what brought the ratings up on a dying GH show. GH was a soap centered around the hospital. Who knows why this all changed, and then became more mob-related (maybe so they can have more patients in said hospital??) but the addition of these three was only to breath new life into a dying soap that seems to have lost it’s direction. Let the characters live on with their original heritage and families and let GH create and develop their own characters to improve the show. The addition of the OLTL three were a crutch to draw a larger audience to improve the ratings. Now that they’ve improved, start adding new ones that fit in the theme of that particular show.
I think Lori seems to be the most logical one here. That made perfect sense Lori. Kudos to you for keeping your head around all of this mess. ABC drew first blood when they cancelled our soaps. It is not Prospect Park’s fault that the WGA and SAG did not want to cooperate with them. But now that General Hospital has raised in the ratings and the fans have been heard SAG and WGA are singing a different tune and are finally cooperating and that is why Prospect Park is able to bring our soaps back. ABC is the one that is not cooperating and never has. They are the big bullies in the school yard.
I never knew there was a war going on between GH fans and OLTL fans!!! It’s a shame. I watch and enjoy both soaps. I think GH should keep the characters of Todd, Starr and John. We should all be behind all of the soaps.
ABC couldn’t find middle ground at Sterling Bridge in Scotland! With that being said, it seems only fair that they should suffer the same fate as the English soldiers who tried to hold back the oncoming storm that came in the form of Sir William Wallace and hundreds, if not thousands, of his countrymen. first of all; they ruined our soaps. period. I no longer watch GH because i am BORED…Star, John and Todd brought such a dynamic to GH and the story lines were intergrated so well and had such potential…as for OLTL I miss the show and wish they would just combine the two already….what a SHOW that would be……alas. I agree that this is sooo stupid!!! If they have to change the names of the characters, not the characters themselves, then just do that. Someone suggested that. That way we can have our favorites 3 characters back, with slightly different names. The fans will adapt to that. But totally NEW characters, wow, that’s going to be much, much harder to take. I personally don’t like the idea, but I also don’t want to lose this characters or the actors that play them.
Well the new characters are awful. Seriously…Kiki as a long-lost Quartemaine heir who shows up romantically hooked up to Michael’s brother Morgan – who BTW has been MIA from the show supposedly in military school since he was like 10 yrs old and now comes back to GH as a grown gambling teenager who met this Kiki online. I don’t like it one bit! Worse yet – who the hell is this Todd look alike? With the ugliest dyed blond hair – not willing to disclose who he is to anyone in Port Charles, but obviously has a devious plan to hurt a lot of people. Dr. Clay is a little more believable but still just as creepy as his brother – obviously the ABC writers didn’t have enough time to think through the development of these new characters – but luckily the actors have a enough talent to work with what they have been given and make the characters believable.
What a debacle. So Easton and Alderson would go to PP for 1 and 4 weeks and then come back to GH as McBain and Starr or would they have to be new characters anyway? If it’s the former I don’t know why they wouldn’t do it. I do agree the characters belong to PP fair and square, but not sure why they would not allow GH to use them if the actors wanted to stay there. If it’s not on the page it’s not on the stage. Regardless of what characters either show has it will come down to the writing anyway. I think PP should let GH keep the OLTL characters b/c the actors clearly wish to remain on GH. I think it would be a disaster for GH to write 3 new characters when there is such a broad canvas right now. It’s just not needed and not a good creative move for GH and at the end of the day it’s GH as a whole that matters.
It’s not Prospect, it’s stupid ABC.. Prospect has said in another interview they were willing to share the characters, they wanted those three to relaunch OLTL.

Besides GH, I wont watch anything on ABC anymore. Am I understanding this right and that these 3 actors can go back to GH but they have to become a different character to do so? That seems so stupid but if it is the case then fine, turn todd into his twin Victor and he can pretty much play himself. John can come back as the vampire, or the rock star, or some long lost twin since he and Sam seem to know each other…..Star can find out she was switched at birth and is really someone else and she can just go back to playing herself and todd/victor will still have a connection……or they can just stay on PP?
WHY do people think the actors can be forced into do something they don’t want to do? All three actors have signed contracts with ABC GH ONLY they CAN NOT be forced by ABC GH to do crossover. I am shocked at how so many are ignoring the fact that GH is in CA and this online thing is in CT. Not to mention you need to realize if the actor says yes they have to sign something to agree to do this for PP. THIS is way beyond just run over tape a few scenes and run back to GH. I think people need to realize the ones that didn’t deserve this hot mess were the actors. I am just relieved for the actors. They have the right to work where they have signed contracts to work. It was PP that took legal action and ordered all 3 actors of the GH set this was back on February 8th. I am glad that ABC GH said enough is enough. These actors deserve to be able to return to work. Obviously after RH/Todd did crossover and it was another big hot mess. It was time for ABC GH to move this on so the GH and the actors could move on. PP has their characters back time for all to move on.
Not certain I concur with your logic but I see what you’re saying. But since none of us commenting here were at any of the meetings and were not flies on the wall for all the negotiations we don’t know conclusive details. I still believe there were (and are) other alternatives. Actors may have been coerced, not forced, by having scenarios presented that initially appeared desirable but may have later proved to abolish a wider range of options. Nothing in the limitless realm of creative writing renders just about any plot twist impossible but taking characters established in key identities and reconfiguring them as totally new personalities within the same setting, just to satisfy a network’s protocol, cannot easily be justified no matter how one spins events. People do commute long distance and one might think there would be allegiance and loyalty to an iconic character developed solely by a particular actor whom the fans have come to regard as synonymous with said character. Besides, as far as choice is concerned, would any of the three actors in question have decided to uproot their classic roles if the network had not axed ONE LIFE TO LIVE in the first place?
I can understand that Kristen (Star), Roger (Todd), and Michael (John) are all living in CA. now and therefore want to continue to work on GH, instead of going all the way to CT. to work on OLTL. To go to CT. and work on OLTL again, they would have to uproot their family yet again, sell their homes in CA. and buy new homes again in CT. It is a lot for the actors. But what I don’t get, is why was it such an ordeal for the 3 to at least go back to OLTL for a few weeks to relaunch OLTL, and to tie up any loose ends with their characters, and then they could go back to GH. I can’t imagine that the 3 actors would not have been OK with that. So why wouldn’t ABC/GH be willing to let the actors go for a few weeks? It would be a much easier solution in the longrun. So since ABC/GH did not want to play nice, I guess they have now pissed off PP/OLTL, and now they are telling ABC/GH if thats how you want to be, well then you can’t use “OUR” characters! OYE! Looks like we the fans lose as usual! This should have been win win for everybody!

Actors MOVE all the time, to do shows or movies or what have you, it amazes me that some “fans” actually think it is some major burden on these actors to move….How do you know that Michael sold his house in NY? Maybe they are renting it out. Point is none of us really know and should make assumptions just because they are still in CA…..
Yes there really is no one to blame but ABC Disney. They sold the rights and Prospect Park owns all of All My Children and One Life to Live. The actors are not to blame and they will stretch their wings playing other characters. Years ago the actress that plays Bobbie Spencer left One Life to Live one day and literally walked out of the elevator as Bobby Spencer the next.
As a OLTL fan, I started watching GH because of the OLTL characters ‘living on’.. but I have to admit it eventually turned me off.. they have no history with anybody, but each other. GH doesn’t need to add characters from other shows, they need to bring back/keep their core/legacy characters. I watch GH now to see AJ back..and Lucy..Laura..Scott, which is the biggest mistake GH has made over the years, writing off their core/legacy characters and replacing them with new, younger characters that nobody cares about.
In my estimation, the show should revolve around your core characters and anybody new is brought in a support role, until that new character proves popular enough to become a core character. Bring in a new character that’s unfamilar to the audience, therefore no emotional attachment, without a history and trying to make them the focus of a storyline is ridiculous. I know every soap tries to do a teen-focused storyline for the summer, but other than that.. keep your core characters around and your show will be/stay successful.
No matter what I will continue to watch GH and I will also watch the reboot of OLTL.
the only reason I watched GH was to watch Todd, Starr and McBain. But, now, I won’t watch them knowing they won’t be the characters I missed from OLTL. I am not vested in GH at all… Never have been. It was only AMC and OLTL
I’m with you Christy…I only watched GH because of John McBain, Starr and Todd…if GH is now responsible for us losing the characters completely because they wouldn’t share them for a short time…that’s REALLY low. Just goes to show that ABC is still a bunch of scumbags. I’ll stop watching GH as soon as those characters I cared about are gone. I couldn’t care less about Sonny and Kate and that ridiculous (and badly done…CONNIE is the damned alter, for crying out loud) D.I.D. storyline, nor do I care about all these other old characters they’re bringing back like crazy Lucy and Nicholas, etc. I always thought GH was the worst of the three shows, and I still do. Once I get the two better shows back, and the only people I care about in Port Charles are gone…I’m DONE with ABC, for good this time! 🙁
I boycotted ABC and didnt watch GH, because of the AMC and OLTL decision.I chose not to watch any ABC shows and I havent lost any sleep missing GH. I have watched those shows since 1973 during my High School career and raising my 4 children and taped shows on the 8 tracks and then dvr when I couldnt watch. My dedication to my beloved shows were undying..until ABC made this decision..I havent missed GH at all, but I am looking forward to watching HULU..cant wait..

Didn’t watch before they joined and only started because of them, It’s been difficult trying to figure out who is who, having to Wikipedia to find out, but I think I’m done and I have a feeling the GH’s ratings will begin to drop again….even after all the support and increased fan base they got from OLTL viewers and all those that boycotted ABC save for GH. Hmmmph!!!

Now at least when the ratings continue to remain good for GH we don’t have to listen to the OLTL fans claim that their characters are the reason for the increase. If you look at the ratings increases they are up when GH veterans have returned such as Anna, Laura, Lucy, etc. The numbers were not up that much for the OLTL characters just will do just fine!
Changes is good. I am sure the actors will embrace the changes and will come back to GH ready to work with enthusiasm. They will now be free to move on with new GH stories.

How is wanting to creative control over THEIR characters not being ‘reasonable?’ Apparently Frank and Ron don’t know what the terms ‘lease’ and ‘contract’ mean. PP lent them the characters for a years – they didn’t GIVE them the characters. And Frank and Ron are just mad now they had to uphold the contract so now it’s the poor actors and we’ll keep you as different characters. Never mind they don’t have any ‘budget’ for GH actors and treat the GH cast as an afterthought. These two should be booted from helming any show. And PP NEVER should’ve leased the characters to them in the first place. Don’t see AMC having this trouble.
Bottomline PP aren’t at fault here or the ‘wrongdoers.’ That would be ABC, Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati. Using a 50 yrs crowning soap such as GH to carry out their temper tantrums.
If it wasn’t for Prospect Park you wouldn’t have OLTL or AMC returning. I don’t blame them for anything. They paid good money for these shows which includes ALL the characters…they, according to this and other articles were still willing to share the characters…it was and is ABC that has been beyond greedy, unreasonable and unmovable. Blame ABC entirely.

ITA. Sharing sounds like a simple word but it is much more difficult to carry out than it seems, especially in the soap world. Each show more than likely wants to take their characters in its own direction. Take Todd for example. OLTL will probably want him to relentlessly obsessed with Blair whereas GH would want Todd to wholeheartedly and tenderly loves Carly. How would sharing be possible in this case? Make Todd sleeps with Blair while he’s in landview and then back sleeping with Carly when he’s in PC?!! All fans will end up hating Todd, period. The whole “sharing” concept is absurd if not outright stupid! Since OLTL owns the characters, more than likely, they want control of the characters. As a GH’s fan, I don’t want our characters of Sam, Carly, and Michael becoming the under dogs who would just take whatever bones OLTL decides to throw our way. Glad that ABC decides to cut our lost and move on with new characters where they can have total creative control over.

No, this is clearly PP’s doing. PP owns the characters, and that’s fine, but they DO NOT own the actors attached to them. Actors can be recast-what’s so difficult for people to understand about that?
I haven’t watched OLTL in 20 years, so I didn’t care about the characters as such. Roger and Michael are good actors, so I’m sure as long as the new characters are well written they will be able to sell it. I didn’t care for the character of Starr and glad we don’t have to hear her whine anymore. I hope the character they have planned for Kristen is better.
BTW…didn’t PP say that the characters could cross over to but only when they weren’t airing on their shows. That would be a logistic nightmare for writers and schedulers and cross your fingers there wasn’t a preemption. I think ABC made the best decision.

I agree AJ. and not once did ABC thank the fans for the years they watched the soaps. There is a reason why The Young and The Restless has been #1 for 24 years. CBS cares, go on Twitter CBS Daytime is on there and they are interactive with the fans.

The cross over and airing thing has more to do with contractual and online content exclusivity that’s not exactly all PP’s fault or issue and working in the field that wouldn’t be such a logistical nightmare and can be worked around. I work on several productions and we shoot episodes out of order all the time with cast that are available to us. ABC didn’t make the best decision when they canceled OLTL (which btw had better ratings than GH in it’s last 9 months) or AMC and haven’t here again. Can’t wait until ABC unveils that it will indeed cancel GH after it’s milked all it can from the 50th anniversary (yeah that’s the only reason why the show is still on while the other two were cancelled). PP should get ready now and get their licensing in order so they can have GH too. I can’t wait to see what PP has in store for us because at least they did something that hasn’t been done in daytime before. They rebooted and resurrected not just one but two daytimes soaps that were cancelled!

I applaud especially Easton and Alderson for sticking to their beliefs not to do PP. They did what they felt was best for them. There is much more to it than what was reported. They know what did and did not go on in negotiations.
It really doesn’t have anything to do with their beliefs. ABC holds their contracts and they know if they break the contract they will be sued.
ABC is again trying to show us, the fans, that they control who and what we watch. They will not be happy until they cancel GH too. I’m sure there is a little bit of “Oh, GH is only doing well because we gave you three a job, If you go we will probably have to cancel GH” on ABCs part.
ABC has shown over and over again that they could care less about the viewers and can’t be trusted. To believe anything they say to the viewers after everything they have done, would be ridiculous.
I agree 100% I also noticed how Y&R is getting so much publicity for their 40th Anniversary yet GH isn’t and they will be having their 50th next week, and I remember oh GH is on ABC they could care less about the soaps. The producer of CBS is active with Y&R and the fans.. They have people that work for Y&R that care about soaps in this is why it has been #1 for 24 years..

Hi Mindblogger! PP did the right thing it is not their job to keep saving GH at the sacrifice of our show and characters! I’m over the moon that Todd John and Starr are coming home where they belong!
Their contract with ABC is null and void once PP started up OLTL because PP owns the rights to the characters. ABC is not holding them to the contract. But ABC efused to go along with Prospect Parks terms or negotiate farther. I wish they could settle this as I love Todd and Starr on GH, it would be win win- if that’s what the actors want to do.
I’m happy. I’m grateful we will never see them in the roles that made them matter again. Good riddance.
I agree ALderson and Easton refused to go to PP. Can you blame them after PP was going to relaunch a year ago and never did. Easton and ALderson moved to the west coast. Bought homes there. Why would they want to go back to Prospect Park. For all anyone knows PP could last a few months and go under. All you OLTL people think you should have your butts kissed gets old. As I said previously the OLTL characters were not what brought the GH ratings up. IT Was brining back GH read that again GH veterans. I for one am glad we will not be seeing OLTL characters on the show. The show is General Hospital not One Life to Live

For once how about thinking of the actors and what they want. They know exactly why they made the decisions they did. Much more went on than we will never know. It is a done deal. WOW, Interesting! I truly believe ABC sucks and only watched GH because of the OLTL crossovers, which I soon quit watching after they destroyed the characters history and wrote them the way they would never act. I’m watching GH now for its 50th anniversary but will quit unless Robin comes back to the canvas. I love Michael Easton as John McBain but he alone will not be enough to watch GH, I want OLTL and watch the continuence of my favorite story of Natalie Buchanan and John McBain even if he has to be recast. Can’t wait for OLTL and “JOLIE”! ABC hasn’t changed since they canceled OLTL – That’s no problem it will be quiet on my tv.
Yep, I only watched for the crossovers too. ABC should have been helping PP in anyway possible since they stand to make a lot of money if they’re successful. I think ABC and even Cartini behaved like spoiled children and I am done with them. PP got their characters back that was the most important thing and ABC/GH can kick rocks for all I care.

Tali-Just wanted to let you know it was Robin’s (kimberly McCullough’s) choice to leave GH. Her dream is to work full time as a director. She is not on GH by her choice. I don’t want a minute of Robin here and a minute there indefinitely while Kimberly seeks her dream. I think they should (much as it saddens me) replace Kimberly so we can have Robin back. I wish Kimberly all the luck in the world.
I understand your sentiments Lin…but many fans (myself included) would have a VERY hard time accepting anyone else in Robin’s shoes. It would be different if she hadn’t played this role since she was 5 or so…I will take the few minutes here and few minutes there.

Wildheart, I totally understand and feel the same way about Kimberly. But if her dream is not to act but to direct, I’d rather have someone as Robin that see robin once in a while. If Kimberly ever wanted to come back, I think they would let her, and fire the new person. But having no Robin is worse. You can’t be a full time actress on a show and a director, especially a new director. To think of Robin as a captive for years and years is very upsetting. But I agree, if it were for any other reason, I would never accept anyone else as robin. But this is Kim’s choice.

Seems as though ABC is intimidated by this type of viewer competition. Why else would they damage GH by abruptly ending storylines/couples when it wasn’t necessary? ABC is going to go the way of the 8 track tape and they only have themselves to blame.
ABC just can’t allow it’s former daytime viewers to be happy can they? This is just sour grapes on their part. They cancelled the soaps to begin with and can’t stand the fact that someone else can make them work. The two soaps have received more advertising by a company that doesn’t even have them on air yet, than they did the entire time they were on ABC.
I liked the Todd Carly teaming but not at the expense of losing the character. The whole reason this worked to begin with is how similar their histories are as far as their personalities go and how they are their own worst enemies.Was never a fan of Michael and Starr, nor Sam and John (that pairing lost it’s magic for me even before Port Charles went off air).
The three need to be back on OLTL. I was willing to have a short term return of Todd to the OLTL canvas in order to address him moving to Port Charles. I have boycotted ABC (with the exception of GH) since the two soaps were cancelled, and ABC is making it very difficult for me to even continue watching that due to their continued total disregard for their audience past, present, and future.
ABC, like Todd and Carly, are their own worst enemy.
My loyalty is to Amc and OLTL… I only started watching GH to get my soap fix and see the OLTL characters. When AMC and OLTL are back with or without these three I will be watching because we fought too hard for this! I’ll just hope somewhere along the way everyone goes back where they belong. That’s one thing I’ve learned watching soaps for most of my life…there’s always hope!

Prospect Park is certainly not respectful to the Actors is it? Kristen refused to work for them for a week, Michael refused to work with them for four. They sound bitter. But of course they won’t say what demands they made of ABC, right, or what money they would have made If the characters remained on GH. I haven’t respected PP’s handling of this matter. After hearing them blame the actors in this passive agressove way, I’m done with the reboot of One Life. Is PP trying to chase away viewers? Of so, job well done.

You make no sense. If ABC wouldn’t allow Michael and Kristen to work on OLTL then why is Roger doing it? ABC didn’t ban them, the actors didn’t want to.
Unfortunately, the actors do not have a say in this. If Prospect Park owns the rights to the characters then they have every right to want those characters back for the relaunch, whether the actors want to or not. It was ABC that didn’t want them too.
You aren’t getting it–Prospect Park tried to save these shows, they own these characters. ABC killed off these shows and now they want the very characters they tried to kill back. Besides Todd is horrid on GH–he cow tails to the great big butt attached to that beast named Carly.

As much credit should be given to PP for ressurecting OLTL, they are being the hardasses here. They own the characters, but not the actors attached to them. I don’t believe for a second that they were willing to share the actors. I WILL continue to support both shows, though
I can’t believe anyone that considers themself a soap fan has the nerve to defend ABC.. the people who want to get rid of all soap operas and replace it with cheap, reality shows. Does the fact that GH is on a year-to-year renewal basis mean anything? After their 50th anniversary, ABC will once again try to get rid of the show, despite the brilliant job the former OLTL staff is doing.
Prospect Park didn’t release the story, this was reported by EW.com. I’m surprised find it unthinkable to think that ABC would be unreasonable.

Sorry, but I don’t believe for a solid second that PP is the innocent wronged party. Not by a long shot. While not a lot has come out about the behind the scenes negotiations, I do know that ABC/GH had valid, legal and signed contracts for the three actors. I do know that RH nor KA ever expressed any desire to appear on the OLTL reboot. ME is the ONLYY one who signed a contract, a contract that was null and void after the deal fell through. And now it would appear he is no longer interested. So the only question now was in the characters — not the actors. PP already knew that RH/KA was not interested. So if PP was so totally innocent in this, why are they being so bitter about the ACTORS? They still have the characters. The second thing that makes me go “hummmm” is this. The online reboot is supposed to gear toward teenagers and 20’somethings. That’s the audience. So why did PP allegedly want the prominent actor from that age group the shortest amount of time? Oh, no, PP is trying to put a pretty spin on their side, but they are certainly not innocent.

PP isn’t innocent in what? They are PAYING ABC millions of dollars for the rights and intellectual property for OLTL. PP seemed fine with them on GH, and preferred that to re-casting JMcB and Starr. Hard to see how PP is considered ‘bitter’ or ‘unreasonable’.. when they are allowing ABC to use something they are paying ABC for.
Roger Howarth has it written into his GH contract that he can do OLTL stuff, that’s why he’s able to appear on OLTL then go back to GH, and get around all this stuff. I don’t believe Alderson or Easton have that in their contract, therefore they can’t go off and do OLTL like Howarth can. Nobody can say for sure if Alderson and Easton don’t want to do OLTL, they haven’t said so and even if they did, the can’t because they’re contractually obligated to ABC only.
Nobody knows what PP demanded, we can only speculate at this point.. but from a legal standpoint, they are paying for it.. so it’s theirs to control. If ABC was so worried about controlling OLTL characters.. they should have NEVER CANCELLED THE SHOW.
The characters are off general hospital. THIS IS THE GREATEST NEWS EVER. They did not belong to them in the first place. They belong on One Life to Live. I am very glad that RH is on OLTL right now. I really want Prospect Park to suceed and for this to be big and i watch faithfully and pay pay pay after all i work and oltl is what i look forward to after a long day at work. I am beyond excited. Sorry if roger feels he needs to leave oltl for a new unknown character then ……… does not make sense to me but to each his own. They will survive without him. OLTL may be able to survive without RH but it’s unlikely that they will be able to successfully recast the character for a second time. Todd’s an iconic character, not just anyone can play him. RH probably chose the unknown character over OLTL because he’s likely going to get paid more working for a network than working on a web series.
Whoever owns PP clearly have no clue to run a business. They never should have given GH permission to use the OLTL characters if they wanted them back when the web series launched or at least made sure before them permission that the actors would be willing to do both shows since ABC can’t agree to share characters if KA, RH and ME don’t want to make guest appearances on the web series. I won’t be surprised if OLTL 2.0 is a flop.
i agree Crystal…the three actors originally didnt agree to do the reboot so why would PP agree to loan the characters knowing this? Because they were unprofessional. ABC made a mistake cancelling the soaps but at least tried to make up for it by bringing OLTL regime and the 3 chacters/actors to GH, otherwise why wouldnt they just cancel it. These actors reprised their roles on GH because they moved to California and like most of us thought the reboot was dead. Im sure they wouldve played other characters had PP made it more clear to all what they were doing in the first place I havent totally 4given ABC but im also grateful that they saved GH. I like GH a lot now but i dont know if ill feel the same about OLTL til i see it…the storys got to engage me…hopefully it will…i want all soaps to survive no matter where i view them.
Actors on the soaps change a lot, but the characters stay the same unless they kill them off (even dead characters rise on soaps). It takes a while to get used to a new actor, but usually they come to own the character and we get used to them. I just don’t know how ABC is going to change the characters and use these 3. It will be interesting! I have been watching these shows for over 40 years, and think this is awful, and blame ABC!!!!
ME originally agreed to go to Prospect Park. As did Frank and Ron. Their sense of loyalty is questionable at best.

Careful for what you wish for Crystal, because if Prospect Park fails, that could very well mean GH will too when it is also cancelled by ABC. How can you ignore all the signs? All the comebacks of veterans occurring simultaneously? GH is starting its swan song, sweet heart, get with the program. And yes, ABC are bastard people–sorry that offends people, but it’s the truth.
SADOLTLFAN, what were they going to do? Before OLTL’s filming even wrapped, the Prospect Park deal seemed dead. Heck, it was rather shocking three months ago when the news broke that the deal wasn’t dead. They looked looked out for their own careers at the time, as they should have. Now they’re under contract, they simply can’t just tell ABC to screw it.
ABC sucks and I won’t be watching GH once Star, Todd, and McBain move back to Llanview.
OLTL survived for years without RH. Not that I wouldn’t like him back on OLTL, but he doesn’t want to be there.

The thing is their CHARATERS are going back where they belong…but THE ACTORS are staying with GH.
this whole mess is abc fault in the 1st place we should stil have all 3 shows on tv but they decided to cancel amc oltl now they want to hold hostage the character they were so eager to throw away w the rest of the cast . I personally think prospect partk did more than they needed to in offering to share the characters. im behind pp a hundred percent in this one not just csue they revived the shows but they are paying lots of money for ALL characters from amc n oltl so I have zero tolerance for abc in this one. and I don’t want to re invest in 3 new characters on gh so that ME RH N KA can stay I realize its not of their doing ut sometimes t hins happen and im thrilled to be getting oltl n amc back just wish I could have all of oltl.

I am watching GH for the first time in years. Never was a RH fan or ME. They have developed into fully realized characters on GH and I am enjoying their story lines. I can not watch the mumbling mobster and his harem again after having such a variety of stories to follow. This 50 year hoopla will die down and the show cancelled.
No one thinks about the actors who would be flying back and forth since GH is filmed in CA and The other show in CT. The wear and tear would be as tiring as the six month vacations of Tony Geary.

GH fans have FAILED TO REMEBER that ABC THEMELVES have said that THEY want out of producing soaps.. and that also includes General Hospital. I don’t see GH sticking around much longer. Plus it has just got to be killing their budget having all the old botoxed old timers back.

I mean Roger has played Todd Manning since he was 25 years old – yes he took several breaks and even went to ATWT to play a different character and was replaced in the role he originated on OLTL.
Kristen was on OLTL from the time she was – what 6 ?
Michael Has placed the same character on OLTL since 2003.

I agree. Having them play new characters is stupid. I think both sides should negotiate and come to a better agreement.
My heart feels broken over this news. To me it’s pretty simple, ABC sucks. They brutally cancelled the shows and now it feels like sabotage. They want all or nothing, and I think that is an accurate assessment, given that they knew going into this that the OL characters were on LOAN. So now we either have recasts for three important OLTL charactes, or we have to say goodbye to them completely. Both options are horrible.
To RH, ME and KA. You are already missed. Good luck in your future roles. With ABC at your back, I really mean that. 🙁
I agree Cheryl, I will miss them too, but we will get used to the new actors on OLTL, and if we miss seeing them, we can watch GH. I just wish it wasn’t on ABC.

ME, KA, RH are pure OLTL character’s. This is not Dallas and not a dream taking place, in a shower. I am done with GH, once the reboots kick off and I give Kudos to RH, for working with the reboot. I think, ABC, is playing their games and still firmly believe that GH, is nearing the end of their run, so where will they go then. This was dual checks! RH, only smart one, in the bunch and to think that ME was one of the first to sign with PP. I think, the entire thing, is insane and they will always be Todd, Starr and John, to me, bu then, I’m done. Come on April 29. ABC/GH has made some really STUPID casting decisions over the years, i.e. bringing characters back as their doppelgangers, long lost relatives, etc, but this takes the cake. Bending over backwards to keep 3 actors from another Soap, which they can & should go back to, by recasting them as different characters is laughable. GH is a joke these days & this re-casting decision is the punchline.

It doesn’t sit well with this viewer. I think there is more to the story. If it was simple as Alderson doing one week and Easton doing four, then I don’t see why it didn’t happen.
GH will have a tough timing selling 3 brand new characters for these actors. As for PP, I’m glad that they got the two soaps back up but I’m not as enthused to watch them as I was before all this drama.
I doubt very highly that this entire deal fell apart because PP only wanted the actors for 4 weeks tops. That doesn’t make any sense at all and I doubt Frank and company would give up those characters on GH if that were the case. I’m not buying it. Given PP track record for screwing things up, I’m sure they were impossible to deal with and yet again, the fans are made to suffer.
no ABC is the one who didn’t allow this deal to happen. They rather not have the characters at all than letting PP borrow their actors for a couple of weeks.

There is rumor going around that PP wanted creative control of one of the characters and they what GH crossovers as well. I heard the GH crossover thing more than once.
Why shouldn’t PP want control over the characters THEY paid for ? Look at what ABC did to two of OLTLs characters..killing off Cole and Hope. If I were PP I’d want some safe guards in place too.

I think the actual story is somewhere in the middle. ABC is not known to do things that make actual sense, and PP is not innocent in this either. Although I am happy they brought the shows back, prior to this they were doing some unsavory things.

How do you rewrite them as other characters when fans have seen them as none other than what they have been playing? You scrap Micheal and Starr ‘s love story which is nothing like what she had with Cole? You use John as Caleb instead and where does Sam fit since you wrote she’s NOT he’s dead wife?

This is going to be very interesting to see how ABC does the change. I agree, Jan, it is a real mess. I have watched all 3 shows, and think it will be easier for PP to recast the actors and have them be accepted (in time) than for ABC to use the actors as new characters — time will tell!
Seeing as ABC is out of the ‘soap’ business, if I’m PP I just wait until GH is cancelled and hire those actors back. RH just did 4 weeks and seems up for a return, in some form.. Easton was one of the original first 5 actors to sign up for PP in 2011.. I don’t think Alderson is coming back, but they did just sign that Jessie girl(who’s a singer), but won’t say who she’s playing(STARR). The writing is on the wall for GH, now it’s the waiting game.
Of course ABC didn’t play fair. Everyone is ganging up on Prospect Park, but ABC is the one to blame in this whole mess. They made a big mistake by canceling the shows, to begin with, now with the success Prospect Park is having with reviving these two iconic shows, ABC is still playing hard ball, even though they stand to profit from the online reboot. I think the whole mess is a crying shame. ABC cancelled these shows without a second thought, but now they want to continue to control some of One Life’s most popular characters. PP did not have to allow GH to use any OL characters at all, but they did so so these actors could continue in their roles & so the spirit of Llanview could be kept alive while they worked on logistics for a quality reboot. Certainly the actors are free to do what they want with their lives & careers, but it appears that Howarth at least, was willing to work something out. But the egos at ABC know no bounds. Stupid move & as usual, it is the fans all around who lose the most. What a shame that Howarth was gone from this iconic role for 8 years & was only allowed to reprise it on the show that made him famous for just a handful of months. SMH.
ABC/Disney knows that they made a mistake canceling these shows. They will never admit it. I personally am glad that these actors found a new home with GH. I know in my heart that the new OLTL will rock with or without these actors.

While I believe the actors should be on their originating show, as a fan, I would be happy to share them with GH occasionally. Prospect Park is working in the interest of the fans, and ABC is fighting them (and us) at every turn. This is why I boycott them, and have no intention of stopping.

I have always watched OLTL and GH. Love both shows. so when OLTL was canceled and they brought the characters to GH I was one Happy girl. But you can’t have Star and Todd on OLTL and have other Actors playing them………. and you also you cant have the Actors on GH and not be Star and Todd!!! That is who they are. In the soap world Roger Howarth and kristen Alderson are STAR and Todd.

And THATS the bigger problem for them as THATS how you get type cast as an actor and turned down for bigger roles as your only known for playing one part.
Once again ABC screws over its soap fans. If Michael Easton, Kristen Alderson, and Roger Howarth can’t come back as their original characters, then they shouldn’t bring them back at all. It would be too confusing. On OLTL, Starr was leaving town anyway, so why should she go back to Llanview now. Keep her in PC and let her continue her relationship with Michael Corinthos. Beginning now to like McBain with Sam, who needs to move on after Jason’s death. Kind of ambivalent about Todd, though. He could come or go, not sure if he is right for Carly. Come on ABC, do the right thing by the fans for a change.
Network “Suits” don’t have a clue. Sharing would have been good for both GH and OLTL. Prospect Park seems to be doing everything right in regard to the shows, ABC never has.

And what you GH fans need to understand is that there was an AGREEMENT between ABC and PP for the use of the characters in the very beginning long before the contract signing of these actors, and that is the agreement that they wanted ABC to hold up to their end of the agreement and they didn’t and that is why all this is happening. You wanna believe the lies ABC tells you go right ahead. OH BTW we OLTL and AMC fans said the same thing oh they are not going to cancel our show they can not afford to and you seen what happened. I understand that Prospect Park has paid to license the characters the the issue I have with PP is that they were the one who stated over a year ago that the two soaps would not go online after the had first stated they will. At that time they led everyone, fans, actors, writers, production staff to believe it was over. People moved on. Not all the characters are coming back…Why…Because the actors have moved on. It seems that only characters that are coming back are the characters of actors who did not find other work. ME, RH, and KA found other work on GH. Just because it is a soap and own by ABC doesn’t make the situation any different the any of the other actors, who found work, situations. Bottom line here is the GH fans and actors have been pulled and tugged based on what PP says they are going to do and then what they are not going to do to be pulled and tugged AGAIN by what the now say they are going to do and I for one am sick and tired of it. I could care less who is to blame at this point. All I want is the issue solved, the characters back on GH so that storylines on GH can continue as they have been. That is what any fan of any show they have been watching for the past year would want.

We do need to try to remember that while we though it was over, PP did state that things could change if funding and union issues changed and that is exactly what ended up happening. PP parks was willing to share the characters it is ABC that is unwilling to cooperate.
ITA I think its kind of vindictive on PP’s part to pull this name game crap, and if PP would have stuck to its word in the first place this wouldnt be an issue at all. They pulled out instead and because of that they should be the ones giving leeway with the actors. The actors did what they had to do, and I feel its almost like PP is punishing not only ABC but the actors themselves for not wanting to get involved. problem is these characters are NOT GH characters they are owned by PP. Yes the three actors found other work BUT they found it as the same characters THAT ARE OWNED by PP. GH and abc knew this when they brought them into the gh mix. What should have been done from the get go was the three should have been brought in as TOTALLY new characters but ABC got greedy and thought it could cash in on these characters popularity. Once again abc in its greediness thought Little ole pp willl never make a go of it. WELL WHO’S SUPRISED NOW!!! I am a GH AND OLTL fan and i DO NOT want the three on GH again i want them back on OLTL where they have family and they are LEGACY characters not on GH so frank and ron can ruin todd manning and have him ooc and john can forget he has a child with natalie in llanview. I want MY STORIES ON OLTL continued WITH these three characters and it would be a plus if the same actors played them.

ABC is a greedy well oiled machine with a team of high priced lawyers. I’m disgusted that they would even get a dime from Prospect Park’s possible profits! ABC cancelled OLTL & AMC which took away so many jobs (800 actors & production people,I read somewhere). Why would anyone think ABC would be fair on negotiating?! GH can keep Roger, Kristen, & Michael, OLTL will survive & thrive without them. Good riddance. Bring back Trevor as Victor Lord, Jr. and all will be grand. OLTL has enough of the wonderful old cast that those 3 won’t be missed. By the way, I still haven’t watched a second of ABC since the end of OLTL and will continue to do so. ABC proved once again I made the right decision

Oh my god!!!!!! This is so unfair. ABC is just stupid. This is why I don’t watch anything on this network anymore. Prospect Park listened to us fans when ABC wouldn’t. Hey knew that this fan base would not die and they never gave up on us to deliver our soaps back!!!! I do not like to see any of the three actors in a different role and anyone else playing there roles on OLTL is going to suck. ABC should of left these characters only when they decided to not give a crap about what the fans of the show wanted. They made us watch them in stupid story lines on GH instead of just letting us think they all lived happily everafter. Now we have to deal with someone else playing the roles if PP decides to go that route. ABC will just never learn to do something for there loyal viewers of many many many years. This is why thier crap reality shows suck. It’s always .about money to these people and they are just greedy. They probably thought PP would not succeed but PP knew that if they fought the fans will come and we are behind them 100%. ABC just makes me sick.
A very unique situation for sure, and as a long time GH and OLTL fan, I would have loved to have seen them do a time on OLTL to jumpstart the characters there and then return to GH, but it boils down to the three individuals who play these roles, and how they were caught in the middle of all of the political hoopla, and ultimately they deserve to do what is best for them and their families, and clearly they all want to stay with GH, which I understand and respect. I look forward to seeing how the new characters fit into the GH canvas (and if they will all get together with Carly, Sam and Michael, – which I hope), and how OLTL will handle Todd, John and Starr, but most importantly, I am happy that three great actors and fan favorites will now be back to work again!!!!
I feel that, although ABC made the mistake cancelling AMC and OLTL, these actors needed to move on with their lives, which they did. Each of these actors brought a lot to the table for General Hospital and as a fan of this soap for 30 years, I did not want to see them go. I feel it is unfair of P.P. to expect and fight for these people a year later and because of this issue I have no desire to tune in for the reboot of each show, which by the way I had always watched as well. If this company is truly looking out for the daytime community, they should of left these characters alone to let them keep bring the success they have to General Hospital. I look forward to the new characters and what surprises General Hospital will provide for their viewers in this unfortunate situation.

I can’t blame PP for wanting their characters back, since they paid for them. I think it is a shame that they couldn’t work it out to share. We may never know the truth about why this has happened and who is really at fault! When ABC cancelled AMC and OLTL, we (as fans) were very upset at ABC, and most refused to watch the replacement shows, which I’m sure didn’t make ABC very happy (Oh, well). We did however, support GH and were very glad they chose to keep some of our characters alive, although many of the GH fans didn’t want the characters. Now, some of those same people say they are ours now and you can’t have them back, they like us better and their jobs are more secure. Are they, who knows! I watched all 3 shows, and will continue, but I still don’t trust ABC! Good Luck PP, and Thank You!!!
Well you can say that we may never know the truth. I all ready know the truth see PP never lied to the FANS ABOUT ANYTHING! When Funding fell threw they told us and told us they were not giving up on bringing them back and they did not! They have kept us in the loop every step of the way……ABC HAS DONE NOTHING BUT LIE FOR YEARS AND FOR THOSE FACTS, PP HAS EARNED MY TRUST THAT THEY ARE NOT LYING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED!
Oh please-PP is not innocent in this thing at all-they had no right trying to force Kris, Michael and Roger to violate the contracts they signed with ABC. I’ll support PP because I want AMC and OLTL back, but their behavior in this has been shameful
How could they force them to do anything? You can’t force someone to do something with out holding a gun to their head and I don;t think they did that! Do you really think that they do not know about contracts? Do you think this is the only show they have ever produced? Well it’s not I am sure they know exactly what a contract means…….What they did was try to get ABC to hold up to their end of the deal to the ORIGINAL AGREEMENT per these characters and actors. ABC is the one that caused this mess not PP.

I think it’s all gonna come back to bite ABC in the butt. Sounds like they’re DESPERATELY trying to hang on to the “characters” (actors) who have given GH new life! GH fans have NOT held back their feelings about having OLTL characters/actors on GH, so, ABC THINKS that by keeping them, thanks to the rise in ratings when they came on the show, it’s going to be in their favor. However, I have a feeling a lot of OLTL fans are not going to be pleased about watching GH anymore once the OLTL3 are no longer OLTL characters.
In my opinion, those 3 are such an integral part of the OLTL storylines, they truly “belong” to OLTL and its fans. That’s just the way I see it. ABC should get off their high horse and give them back to OLTL. Perhaps they see “success” in the online future and just don’t want to play nice!
