General Hospital

The Revolution chances look "Slim" while General Hospital outlook looks "Brighter" to stay in the ABC line-up!

Some very encouraging and optimistic news this morning, from reputable Hollywood entertainment business site Deadline.com!  Their sources are hearing that chances look favorable in General Hospital’s way,  more so than the ailing Revolution, when it comes time in a few weeks for ABC to make their final decision of which show stays and which stay goes to make room in the afternoon line-up when Katie Couric new talk show, Katie hits the air in September.  As we already know, Katie herself wants GH in,  and The Revolution thrown off its axis!

Deadline reported,”The network’s embattled soap, General Hospital is still the least-watched among the four surviving daytime dramas on ABC, CBS and NBC, averaging 2.3 million viewers for the most recent week we have data for (March 12-16). But the series had a ratings uptick recently (it hit an 18-week high among women 18-49, 657,000, for the week of March 5, which featured the death of a character), and in the female demo, it’s been actually running ahead of NBC’s Days of our Lives.  But boosting Go’s chances of survival the most is the poor ratings performance of new lifestyle series The Revolution,   ABC has given the series time to find its legs — it only premiered in January — but I hear the network brass are starting to lose faith in the show, which hit series lows for the last two weeks with Nielsen data.”

Now if common sense comes into play here, Couric’s request for the lead-in, GH beginning an upswing, despite no help from its poorly performing lead-in, the revolt from soap fans after ABC canceled their other two soaps, then this would seem a no brainer.  Unless, it all comes down to the bottom dollar, and that the cheap production costs of The Revolution warrant it getting more time to straighten it itself out, ( not sure how they could do that, with the present concept) since ABC Daytime as we know it is for all intent and purposes …  gone.

I am all for the “Bright” outlook for GH’s chances to remain in ABC Daytime’s lineup. Here’s hoping that is the case!!!!!

Yea to that!!! Go GH! Awesome show.

enough already please cancel the revolution. its awful and boring. if general hospital is renewed give it a 2 year renewal so the ratings can go higher and higher hopefully. the chew is doing really good. that probably will be renewed sorry to say. all my children will not come back at all sorry to say. we all have to face the truth its gone.

Ricardo, I think you are right on. I believe AMC is gone; OLTL might still be able to come back in some form, even if it’s just several more characters joining the current OL ones already on GH. General Hospital is SO good now, I just ope we can keep it!!

Thank you for this article, Michael!!! From your lips to God’s ears! Unfortunately, there is a third option at play here and that is the possibility of Disney/ABC replacing the Revoltion with yet another low-budget, disposable reality show that is being developed in the wings. Unfortunately, Disney/ABC does not care about 2.3 million viewers. They also do not care that they have knowingly or unknowingly manipulated General Hospital’s viewership and ratings with the widespread discovery of General Hospital DVR/TIVO recordings being altered and erased. General Hospital continues to gain viewership in spite of Disney/ABC. There is absolutely no promotion for the show, and talk about abominable lead-ins – poor General Hospital is the unfortunate recipient of two abysmal lead-ins at the moment and is still gaining viewers in spite of them.

It will be an interesting show when Disney/ABC FINALLY makes an announcement concerning General Hospital. If they move it to the Revoltion time slot, it will be a clear indicator of how powerful fans are becoming. If they go forward and cancel it, I cannot WAIT to see the backlash!!! Disney/ABC has NO idea what kind of fan base and what kind of wrath they will have unleashed. Either way, grab your popcorn, it is going to be interesting!

Wow did you hit the nail on the head. We are powerful. Even all their other shows are not surviving without enough viewers. No one will watch them again.

This all my children, one life to live ,general hospital fan isnt giving up,I will never, ever watch abc/disney again ,for decades I watched my soaps all of them from the beginning so boycotting the rat channel is easy for me,Just as it was easy for abc/disney to destroy my soaps.Everyone has to continue to e mail abc/disney every day I do it 3 times a day I let the know I will never watch any of there programming again until agnus gets her shows back or I get to see one life to live and all my children again and I hope they dont mess with general hospital they send you a e mail back ignore it and e mail them again, let them know you are pissed and going to stay that way ,as 1loveabcsoaps said even if general hospital stays keep fighting the fight lets bring the ratings down at the rat channel daytime and prime time.

You got that right! Backlash the likes of an Occupy movement!!

I can’t agree with you more Flo….Don’t mess with a scorn soap fan! We will continue to fight this fight to bring back AMC and OLTL save GH and to find them a new home.

We need to start organizing our March at ABC studio’s in NYC. Even if GH stays, we need to keep fighting for OLTL and or Agnes Nixon getting her soaps back. The fight has to continue and we have to do more than talk, but put our words into vast ACTION.

Wish I lived somewhere near NY to come march with y’all. I agree thAt we need to do more than just talk here. Action!

Fans? Powerful? Please. Where are All My Children and One Life To Live then? All these campaigns have been a big fail, between a handful of people showing up at ABC affiliates (proving their point that very few are any longer interested in these shows), to sponsors dropping their support (only one vacuum cleaner company – nothing followed); coupons from scandal rags, Sony wants our shows (no they didnt), etc. All that was accomplished was an unprepared internet startup network grabbed the rights, didn’t come through, and ruined the finales. That’s it. ABC could care less what type of ruckus you create – it barely hits the mainstream media, and people under 35, for the most part, don’t care. Not one daytime soap has ever returned after it was cancelled, excepting Passions, which didn’t last long.

Will GH be renewed? I hope so, even though I stopped watching in 2001 after 35 years no less when I saw what the show was becoming, I’d hate to see the shows I watched for decades completely wiped off the map, especially for a bland former morning talk show host adding more mindless and needless chat to the afternoon lineup, or for two food shows that manage to make even a one note actor like Maurice Benard interesting, I admire the efforts so many of you have made (and I mean that, I am not trolling here) but to believe that ABCD is at all put off or worried about the ‘power’ of soap fans is ridiculous, and leads you down the wrong path. I heard this same thing before AMC and OLTL were canceled, (“they wouldn’t dare!, no one messes with soap fans; we will prevail!; they havent tangled with us yet; they don’t know what they are letting themselves in for!)) yet they were cancelled, and are gone for good. Soap fans no longer have any power – maybe in the heyday of the 70s and 80s, but not now.. And GH will be cancelled, sooner or later. ABCD has its own agenda….. the money issues, losses, gains, ratings, etc encompass much more than any of us know…. I don’t know what the answer is, and keep on fighting, but ABCD will do what it wants to do. As many of you realize, what the loyal fans want is not even a consideration to them.

I so hope GH gets to stay. I would love for ABC to make an announcement that the Chew and Revulsion are being replaced by AMC and OLTL but most likely in my dreams only. I have only seen the Revulsion and the Spew during commercials of GH. I don’t understand why anybody would watch.

I agree with you… But I don’t think AMC or OLTL will be brought back on abc…As much as us soap fans want them to. Cancel The Revolution and keep gh on abc… Why keep the revolution on when it is so lousy in the ratings and abc is probably losing big money over that………Gh is improving with the ratings and have to keep it up…Like abc soaps for years and I don’t want to change, unless they give me a reason to……………..Like where GH is headed with the storyline……It’s a definite improvement…I hope abc can see this improvement…….Cross your fingers on both of your hands SOAP FANS..And possibily your toes also.. I have a gut feeling GH will come threw……………..

so am I,too…lol We want get rid of Chew and Revoltuion down the pot!!!! where it belong(Devil’s hole.)

I can’t wait for the announcement and I definitely hope it is in favor of GH! Would be a smart move on ABC’s part finally! They still need to reconsider reinstating the cancelled soaps especially OLTL as we all know they made a BIG mistake there! It should have never been cancelled in the first place – the ratings were there! I will continue to do my part everyday in supporting the Soap Movement and watch GH and I believe GH is ON FIRE! and it is only going to get better and better!!! Number One Soap on my list! Thank you for this article!

Go! Go! The revo must go! Go! Go! The revo must go!

GO HOME,REVOLUTION………….GO HOME,REVOLTION!!! GO BACK TO DEVIL’S HOLE!!!

How about this one:

Hit the road, Revo
And don’t ya come back no more, no more, no more, no more
Hit the road, Revo
And don’t ya come back NO MORE!!!

If abc/disney keeps this idiot show on any longer its a fact that they are nothing but a bunch of bone heads working for the rat channel There is no excuse for dragging this on any further.

I agree with you 100%….comment on 3/28 at 11:52am…..

I have always thought that the Revocrap would be cancelled. What I don’t understand is all the crap that informs us otherwise. That is the hardest part and of course ABC not telling anyone of their intentions. Still absolutely hate ABC forever for this. Bring back our shows.

Isn’t the 4th hour of Today similar to the REvolution anyway??

With the idiots running ABC/D I won’t put any faith into this story until an official announcement is made. Just look at what the idiots have already put us thru. Let us know GH’s fate now!

I think GH will be renewed. I think that was what Ron’s reference was about dotting I’s and crossing T’s first.

Also….I watched last night’s Atlanta Housewifes from Sunday. The little girl made a comment about nobody wanting Katie C on daytime! How funny was that??

For those of you who are Brenda fans, I sense she is on her way back. Too much mentioning of her name lately. ICK!

C’mon Deb, ICK wasn’t necessary. With all the critisium she has gotten, who knows…., she may come back busing that role OUT and looking like the Brenda we once knew, just older. But, you do you sense she is on her way back? U said, ” Too much mentioning of her name lately “. Where? On this site? That counts for nothing. Lots of speculation goes on on this site. So where “other ” the mentioning of her name?

Thanks Mr. Fairman for another GREAT article. Buh bye Revulsion. We won’t miss you. GH will quickly fill your spot.

We shouldn’t count our chickens before they are hatched…As that saying goes!!!!! Why would should this CRAPPY show the revolution remain on abc , when no one is watching it..And NEVER will be watched…It makes no sense to keep this show on… And the ratings will continue to FLOP………And by the way I can’t stand cooking shows(the chew) and others like it…………….I WANT MY STORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enough of these crap shows already. They don’t belong on daytime programming…. GH FOREVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HURRAY!!! ROBIN IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont like katie at all…should have kept OLTL & AMC.

I have never watched Katie Couric… Not even once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally not interested in her……….I want my stories also………..Enough of this reality/Info/talk shows/cooking to………………….They don’t belong on datytime programming…I’ve said thie before……………….We have so many of these kind of shows already….They are nothing new about them……….They aren’t a fresh idea , which abc seems to think so………..They are TOTALILY wrong on this one…….

I hope the Devolution gets destroyed, but I’m also not thrilled that Katie Couric is getting a talk show on daytime. She didn’t do much, if anything, for CBS Evening News’ ratings so why is “failure” being rewarded?

If ABC has any sense left, they will leave GH alone and cancel The Revolution! The fans have spoken and we have spoken loudly, we do NOT want this reality crap on our screens and we CAN’T be trained like dogs to watch this garbage, I don’t care what Brian Frons says!!!

I still believe AMC & OLTL can return, Katie C’s show will be a flop! She has already failed on both NBC & CBS what makes ABC think it will be any different there?

Hope GH stays on the air. I’ve been watching the show for over 30 years and it seems to be getting better all the time. Sometimes it’s not about the bottom dollar. It’s about taking care of your viewers who have been there threw the good and the bad. Those other shows are a dime a dozon.

I just got back from sending abc.com a extra email today, over at tv media insights theres a update on the ratings and both the chew and the revolution are going downhill ,so i couldnt pass up the chance to tell abc/disney how dumb they are and how I will continue to boycott there dopy programing day and night ,also told them how good general hospital is getting and How its wrong that they are throwing all my children and one life to live in the garbage and should give agnus the rights to HER shows instead of wasting them,Yes good news people abc/disney is sinking even more .The only way they will ever be #1 in the daytime again is to put our soaps back, and if they want to at least have One good afternoon show leave general hospital alone ,I think everyone show go there and tell abc/disney how dumb they are.

Hope GH stay’s on the air.Everone keep your finger’s cross.Still mouring GH

‘General Hospital’ Alum Kelly Monaco Reveals She’s Six Months Sober

Kelly Monaco

Longtime General Hospital favorite, Kelly Monaco (ex-Sam McCall), took to her Instagram on Tuesday, September 15 and shared that she is six months, seven days sober from alcohol. Monaco played Sam for 21 years on the ABC soap opera.

Accompanied by a screenshot from the I Am Sober app that tracks the progress of anyone struggling with or trying to not drink, Monaco wrote, “Now the whole 6/7 thing makes sense! #duces.”

Monaco has kept a very low profile since her final episode on General Hospital aired back on October 30, 2024, when Sam had a shocking heart attack and died. It was later revealed that Daytime Emmy nominee, Jeff Kober (ex-Cyrus Renault) injected Sam’s IV with a fatal dose of digitalis.

KELLY MONACO HAS KEPT MORE TO HERSELF SINCE LEAVING GH

This year, Kelly has posted on her Instagram account a total of four times, most recently to celebrate her mother, Carmina’s birthday, who turned 70 just four days ago.

Jumping into the comment thread on Kelly announcing her sobriety were several of her former GH co-stars including Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny, GH) who shared, “Love this. Congrats! 👏👏👏,” Ingo Rademacher (ex-Jax, GH) who just posted the hands up and heart emojis, and Lexi Ainsworth (ex-Kristina, GH) who wrote, “So proud of you 👏 badass.”

DANCING WITH THE STARS BEGINS NEW SEASON; KELLY WAS THE SEASON ONE CHAMP

With this season’s Dancing with the Stars about to kick-off tonight, in which Kelly was the first-ever celebrity winner in season one and returned for an All-Star version, might we hear from her on her picks or thoughts on this year’s batch of contestants?

One thing has remained a constant with Kelly’s unwavering fan base, they want her back on General Hospital, because as we know in the soaps, many characters somehow come back from the dead, so why couldn’t Sam?

Share your thoughts for Kelly and her six months of sobriety via the comment section below and if you would still like to see her back on General Hospital or even another soap opera within the next few years.

Soap Alums Remembered During In Memoriam Segment at 78th Emmy Awards; Patrick Muldoon Omitted

In Memoriam Emmys 2026

During last night’s 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, as it does every year, the television academy paid tribute to those in the industry that they’ve lost over the last year; since the previous Emmys held each year in September.

Starting with an emotional tribute to the late Catherine O’Hara by three of her co-stars, Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy and Dan Levy and Home Alone’s Macaulay Culkin, the segment then dovetailed into Noah Kahan performing “Bridge over Troubled Water” as the faces and the names of those being remembered were shown on the screen.

Daytime soap alums, who either stayed in the genre for the majority of their career, or went on to primetime success as well, were honored including: Anthony Geary (Luke, GH), Hayden Panettiere (Sarah, OLTL, Lizzie, GL, Juliette, Nashville), James Van Der Beek, (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek, and Stephen, ATWT), Gil Gerard (Alan, The Doctors), June Lockhart (Mariah, GH), Patricia Crowley (Mary, Port Charles and GH), Randolph Mantooth (Clay/Alex, Loving and The City, and Richard, GH) and Jon Cypher (Alex, ATWT and Arthur, Santa Barbara).

THOSE HONORED AND THOSE WHO WERE NOT

However, in a glaring omission, the producers of the In Memoriam failed to include Days of our Lives beloved star, Patrick Muldoon who played the OG Austin Reed and also Richard Hart on Melrose Place. Muldoon passed away in April of this year at 57.

After Kahan concluded his performance, a special tribute to Rob Reiner began with Jamie Lee Curtis taking to the stage to share some warm words about her late friend.

In a ironic and sad twist, Curtis shared ,“Last week, Robbie won an Emmy for guest actor in a comedy series for his beautiful work on The Bear, and he now holds the record of 48 years for the longest gap between acting Emmys, which was previously held by his father Carl Reiner, at 37 years.”

Reiner, who along with his wife, Michele Reiner were killed by their son, Nick Reiner, is currently awaiting a decision if he will stand trial. Prosecutors on Tuesday, shared they will not seek the death penalty if he is convicted at trial, but instead life in prison. Curtis said of Rob, “He was generous and kind and funny as hell, and a friend to all. We all miss Rob and Michele and all those we lost this year.” The Emmys then faded to black and went to commercial break.

So, were you happy to see those who you know from their work in soap operas included in the 2026 In Memoriam tribute at the Primetime Emmys? Share your thoughts in the comment section. But first, in case you missed it, you can watch it below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason and Britt Break Up After Realizing They Can’t Trust Each Other

Published

on

By

Jason and Britt

Trust issues were cited as the reason for the break-up of Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) on the Monday, September 14 episode of General Hospital, ending the their complicated romance once and for all.

The episode began with the pick-up of Jason and Britt’s argument over Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) at the Quartermaine boathouse. Britt is in disbelief that Jason continues to take Anna’s side, and that he will not back her up as her witness, as she wants to report Anna’s attempted murder of her to the PCPD.

Jason tells Britt that Anna had been pushed to the brink through the mental torture she’d endured while held captive at Wyndemere, and accused Britt of doing nothing to save her, when she knew exactly what was going on as she was at Wyndemere as well. Britt told Jason that she’d been a victim of Sidwell and Cullum too, and by the time she figured out what was happening to Anna, they had moved her somewhere else.

BELIEF SYSTEM BROKEN

Then, Jason clearly lets Britt know he doesn’t believe her version of what transpired. An enraged Britt fires back at Jason in disbelief, that he is siding with Anna instead of her, when he was on Mount Emerson and saw for himself how Anna was planning to kill her. Suddenly, Britt wants to know if Jason would have helped Anna cover her tracks, if Anna had killed her.

Next, Jason argued that Britt seemingly needs to believe Anna would have killed her when he knows deep down Anna would never have murdered her. Jason thinks Britt is trying to absolve herself of her own guilt and complicity in keeping Anna locked up.

Britt shouts “You need to believe that! Otherwise, you’d have to admit that your friend is unhinged and dangerous. And she would have killed someone you say you love!” Now at a complete impasse, Britt walks out on Jason realizing they don’t trust each other and calls it quits.

PICKING UP THE PIECES

Later, Jason finds Carly (Laura Wright) at the Metro Court, and while in an elevator fills her in that he doesn’t trust Britt, and that as much as he loves her, he doesn’t trust her like he does Carly. Britt is back at the hospital.

A concerned Tristan (Dean Geyer) tries to talk to her about what transpired with Anna. However, Britt clams up and walks away from any discussion.

Now in the General Hospital teaser video for the action on Tuesday, September 15,  Jason ask Carly (over beers and a game of pool) “When you lie for a living, how long before you start lying to yourself? Take a look at that below.

Let us know, are you glad that Jason and Britt finally called it quits? What about the reason that the couple broke-up, over Britt knowing about Anna being locked-up at Wyndemere and Jason not willing to back Britt about Anna trying to kill her? Is Tristan the next man for Britt? Let us know your thoughts via the comment section.
