The Scrubs Goodbye: GH's Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson Heartbreaking Performances!

Every so often in our soap opera lifetime comes an on-screen pairing that transcends the norm, that creates something magical, and that translates to the viewing audience at home who has gone on the journey with them.  There is no greater example of this then what Kimberly McCullough (Robin) and Jason Thompson (Patrick) have brought to millions of General Hospital fans for many years!

On today’s heartbreaking episode, it was time for Patrick and Robin to say their goodbyes, since Robin has decided that she must go off and save the life of her best friend Jason, and leave Port Charles.  (Of course, this paves the way for Kimberly McCullough’s exit and opens the door for Patrick’s story without her!)

But in quiet, emotional, heartfelt and yet complex scenes, both Patrick and Robin struggle to say goodbye to each other, with Patrick saying, “I don’t want to forget how to love you.” Through Jason Thompson’s performance, you can see that Patrick has once again been through the emotional ringer over Robin.  There is only so much a man can take, right?  And yet, he stands up to Victor Cassadine (Thaao Penghlis) and tells him he will come after him if Robin is not returned home safely to her family!

The pièce de résistance came when longtime Scrub fans were treated to a breathtaking montage of Patrick and Robin’s relationship all the way from the beginning up till present day.  It was a five hankie moment, for sure.  And illustrated that what Kimberly and Jason created together has been so unique, and so exquisite, that when it’s time for us to wish Kimberly well on her endeavors outside of GH, it’s hard for us to let her go as it is Patrick, and it’s hard for us to see the character of Patrick in such anguish over it.  Whatever happens in the future in story, or behind the scenes, and whether you hate the exit storyline,  that is not what this is about.  It’s about how two actors delivered to their audience an emotional rollercoaster and love story that will be remembered, and never forgotten.

Now after the jump, watch the Scrubs montage from today’s GH all over again, and an example of a subtle yet hugely emotional scene between Patrick and Robin on Monday’s episode! Then let us know, what are your thoughts on the goodbye scenes?  Do you think what Kimberly and Jason have created is one of the best soap couples of all-time?  Comment below!

I completely think that the chemistry Kimberly and Jason bring to the Patrick and Robin characters is once in a lifetime. They have built something great. No matter what comes next for Patrick and Robin separately, no one will compare to their epic love.

That is really true. I have been watching since GH began and Robin as a little girl. It won’t be the same without her.

I know they were a real life couple for a while, then ended up friends…so the relationship is very strong and you can see that… but he can’t pine away for her forever!

He needs a another HUGE story line….this poor guy has literally suffered for 2 years now with very little joy….the writers need to give him a medical related mind bender…

He deserves the EMMY!

i have to agree it was the greatest show on earth I wish she did not have to go again

Kimberly McCullough’s heart just wasn’t into “General Hospital” this time around. It could have resulted in her third Emmy win but instead it was just a pitiful little whimper.

Nothing more than a 5 month return for nothing more than a paycheck.

I started to cry watching those scenes. It is going to be really difficult to watch patrick without robin because by far they were the ultimate supercouple of not only gh but of daytime television in general. Jason and Kim are by far the 2 best actors in my book of gh and daytime tv and both deserve daytime emmy’s for their performances. It just won’t be the same. Patrick and Robin were literally the reason I started watching gh again. I hope that when the time comes for robin to come back that her and patrick will get the reunion that fans have been waiting for. Kimberly is only actresss in my opinion that could truly play robin and I really hope they don’t recast her. I would stop watching if that happened.

I adore Robin and have since she was first introduced to us years ago. I liked the Stone, and later the Jason relationship, but both paled in comparison to the chemistry between Robin and Patrick. Patrick’s character was the one who brought out and best and worst in Robin and vice versa. Their eventual surrender was an exhilarating ride. For me, no other couple has come close to the intensity that is Robin and Patrick. As we all know, marriage can be the death of a soap couple and while marriage may not have killed their intensity, I missed their bantering, push-pull dynamic. If Kimberly’s next return (assuming it’s at least 18 months away) was written my way, we would learn that Jason had asked for a divorce and Robin (too proud to refuse) had agreed to it 6 months before her return. (and btw, our beloved Emily would have been visiting her mom every couple of weeks, even thought we never witnessed the visits) Jason would have been made chief of staff. He reluctantly hires Robin back not because he wants her around (of course part of him does, but he’s not willing to to re-ride that roller coaster) but because GH needs her expertise. and this would set the stage for re-igniting that thing that only Robin and Patrick can do. Patrick would have reverted to his previous playboy ways and given up on the trusting in marriage. Robin, still devastated by his divorce request, is determined not to let on that she never stop loving him.
That storyline seems to lend itself to Kimberly’s coming and going for as many years as needed. Ultimately, before either Jason or Kimberly leave the show permanently, they should be reunited and only then, live happily ever after.

Beautiful write up for GH’s best couple!!! JT & KMc take it to whole new level. Forever Scrubs!

They absolutely do take it to another level.I’m really not sure why some people keep going on about KMC coming and going being so disruptive. She has indicated a willingness to have stayed longer and come back sooner. Not really sure what TPTB are after here, but anyone watching these scenes, especially Frank/Ron and anyone at ABC daytime should be able to see the contrast between the Scrubs chemistry and the lack of it with Patrick and Sabrina.

Mr. Fairman rightly pointed out the quote from Patrick, “I don’t want to forget how to love you.” I found it odd and a heavy handed way of foreshadowing something to come. It seemed out of context though, given their other words to each other and the sheer emotion portrayed by the actor, it doesn’t seem like Patrick would ever forget how to love Robin or stop doing so. There was just a real disconnect there from the performance and everything leading up to those words.

Mr. Fairman also says, “There is only so much a man can take right?” I’m not sure if I got that from the scenes and I wonder if that was conveyed so much to Mr. Fairman in the scenes or from talking to Ron Carlivati. Yes Patrick is anguished over this, but does it fall into the category of not being able to take anymore? Does it really seem like Robin will be gone forever? That she would spend a year, or years, hovered over a frozen Jason with a bunch of beakers and test tubes?

All I can say, is that whatever they do with Patrick, putting him back with Sabrina will be a big mistake and Cartini shouldn’t be too arrogant about just doing what they may want over what works for the viewers and the show. No one watching the Patrick/Robin scenes could seriously buy Patrick and Sabrina, except for the few Sabrina worshipers out there and even a lot of them are fed up with Patrick and feel she’ll look like a fool going back with him, knowing she’s a distant second and that Robin could come back anytime.

JT is an excellent actor, but he was never able to connect and share any chemistry with Teresa Castillo. The characters are a mismatch and the actors do not connect. The scenes between JT and KMC are clear evidence of that. If they feel the need to have Patrick move on, they need to do better.

I agree with you Gh50 110%. No way can they recast robin. The chemistry between them two personal can never replace.

Time to recast robin scorpio drake, I wish Kimberly well, but the show must go on.

Maybe KMc will return for Emma’s wedding lol
Then on the other hand, GH might not be on the air much longer (god I hope it runs forever) if that happens KMc/Robin will never be seen again..

I’m looking forward to Patrick’s story without Robin 🙂
(he is at his best without Robin)

I agree. If they put patrick with sabrina if won’t be the same. It makes patrick cheating on robin. But no one can have the chemistry that robin and patrick have.
I agree patrick and sabrina are not match at all. I think they is more chemistry between carlos and sabrina. Would love to see them together and the baby is carlos. Which I think we will see down the road after patrick goes to PR after sabrina is kidnap by carlos or his people. I hate how the writers are trying to shove down our throats with patrick getting back with sabrina. I really haven’t watch much I last couple of days since robin after.

You can’t replace her. Hopefully she will come back to us again.

I agree

I totally agree. I’m happy she is doing other things but the coming and going is enough already. It puts everyone else’s story at a standstill or keeps you from becoming invested. I would rather have a recast then this constant bouncing back and forth.

Thats what ive said in previous posts…its highly unlikely KM will ever return to the show full time…there is no point of bringing back Robin for a few months a year only to leave again(and for what next time?) itll stagnate other characters such as Patrick unless he leaves with her…at least have another actress fill in for her like Jen L. had done for Kristen S. as Maxi or just let the character die for real this time…maybe in a plane crash in the ocean with no body found! KM…i wish her well too…let her live her dream directing…it is time for her and us to move on! 20

P.S. if A.J. was to die or go to prison…then 6 months later Sean K. can return as his lookalike brother Jason…Robin cures Jason and he returns to PC (Robin stays behind because she hasnt yet unfrozen Helene and Stravos) but this time he has had a spiritual awakening from his ordeal and has become a doctor to save lives instead of taking them as Sonnys hitman…Jason gets a position at General Hospital where he and Dr. Silas Clay often confront each other over Sam! Then lets find out Silas and Jason are related…Silas and his brother the vampire are the sons of Jimmy Lee which makes Silas a Quartimaine…this will also cause Kiki and Micheal to break up now they are related too…Ava will definately want Silas back knowing he is a Quartimaine and will help Jason break up Silas and Sam…meanwhile, Kiki has runaway and when Micheal has started to move on with someone else Kiki returns and finds out she isnt Silas’ daughter after all and Franco really is her father!

You really do have some terrific ideas…

I agree they recast Maxie with Jen Lilly and we were ok with it…. the trouble was that we all knew that she wasn’t going to stay so our devotion always went back to Kirsten…

Recast…. character trumps the actress.

Why cant Victor Cassidine be funding the Jeromes? He’s got to be in PC for some other reason than just for Robin and being attracted to Dr.O?

Meanwhile, is that really Luke or Jerry Jacks or maybe even Faison with a Luke mask or someone else from Tracys past…is Mitch still alive?

These exquisite actors brought this couple above and beyond the material. What they have is more than Hollywood screen chemistry. No doubt they will go on to great things separately, but together they have built and sustained something rare and beautiful that can never be diminished.

How true

I am so sick of the whole KMc coming and going and the chaos it created was not worthy of any of it..
She has been off GH for 2yrs and a short return, no big deal..
There are much greater and better on GH than KMc..
Just let her go and do her directing which she hopefully much better at than acting..
So sorry for Kmc’s fans who will suffer another painful parting and be upset over her leaving..
At he least her fans got to see her once again, but still they are disappointed with her/the closure/ending story that needed to be written and the reason for her return and mostly upset with her leaving, again..
Hopefully this mistake will not happen again..KMc has moved on from GH into a new career and she will never be an active Robin again with the exception, perhaps, of in the future another upsetting to her fans a short appearance and another good bye..

I just want over with and for all to move on ..
(they did just fine the 2 years she was gone)

.. Obviously the powers that be felt otherwise and felt she was needed on screen and rightfully so cause so many tuned in to see …. I couldn’t care less if she comes and goes 30x in one year. It’s pretty obvious that TPTB are willing to work with her and realize that she does get fans to watch. I will be happy for her and welcome her back anytime she wants to come back and make magic on screen for me.. thanks Kimberly for all you’ve done and will continue to do.. very few people get to follow their dreams..all the power to you for following yours.

Actually it was worth the ratings for them and as far as being just fine for two years without her, the ratings hit their two year peak with her. I don;t think it was 100% all KMC, it also has to do with the other actors that are brought front and center with her story. Anna, Robert, Duke, Faison etc.

The character of Robin is a major and important part of GH. They know that and that’s why she comes back. It’s business. Franco, Sabrina and Silas, do not drive viewership or interest, no matter how much they wish it were the case.

How true.

I agree with you Michael. Because of the trust they have built for last 8-9 years shows on screen. That’s why it makes it harder for us scrubs fans to let go of this couple. The investment we made through the years. And the journey we went with them makes us want to see more of them. That’s why I am torn from wanting to see them more on screen but proud of what kimberly is trying to do with her own dreams of being a director. If it was up to me I would love to see them in screen until they run off into the sunset. But I am proud to b a scrubs fan. They will always be my end game no matter at the future may lie.

Kimberly is a fine, fine actor whom I’ve watched since she was 7 years old. She was a natural then and an ubertalent now. When Jason first came on, I thought “He’s interesting, but not sure about his acting.” Jason Thompson has grown so much as an actor from his first day on our screens. I think he owes much credit to his co-star, with whom he shares nearly all his scenes. I could tell from the beginning that his scenes with Kimberly were just better than his others. Now it’s evening out because, as I said, he’s become a much better actor.

Kimberly is such a subtle and natural actress. She’s not dramatic or overdone. Sometimes, I feel, she doesn’t get enough credit as a result. I’d like to see her win her third and very well deserved Emmy. After all, GH ratings truly spiked with her return.

Rightly so, I’ve heard a lot of praise for Jason Thompson. I hope this is his year as well (though his work last year, I feel, was his best so far).

Scrubs will go down in history as a true supercouple in an era when they are almost obsolete. Kudos to both actors for making me fall in love with Robin & Patrick!

Robin can’t be replaced. Maybe she will come back to us again.

Exactly Kimberly is Robin. ENOUGH SAID.

This was almost unbearable to watch I am not happy about her leaving. Today’s show was good though!

Kimberly and Jason made me fall in love with SCRUBS!!! I have never been so totally caught up in a fictional couple. Patrick and Robin belong together, I can’t honestly ever see them loving other people the way they completely love each other. I wish Kimberly all the best in her directing career…but I do hope this won’t be the end of SCRUBS – hopefully we will see them together again! Kimberly and Jason’s chemistry with each other simply can’t be beat!

I have loved many soap couples throughout the years but none like these two. I believe their journey. I believe in their love. Their chemistry is a once in a lifetime match.

And although I firmly believe the only reason TPTB brought Robin back at this time was to destroy her character to one again attempt to make patrina succeed and this was the crappiest story known to man, KMc and JT somehow still make the audience know scrubs love will never truly die.

Bravo to both. I wish them both the best in the future. I like Robin am signing out of GH for awhile.

I did the same thing not watching for a while.

As A Longtime Fan of GH Patrick & Robin have always been one of My Favorite Couples, I hope she comes back soon & wish that she wasn’t leaving at all. They have Great Chemistry & are Both Fantastic Actors . Please Give Mac & Felica a storyline, they are Great actors too & We don’t see enough of them, they are another Favorite Couple.

The Scorpio-Drakes’ heartbreaking farewell was beautifully presented, particularly by Jason Thompson’s Patrick, who obviously completely loves his wife. Now let’s see how this devotion is portrayed in the upcoming weeks…as a man once again devastated by his soulmate’s departure, or a guy looking to fall back into a relationship of convenience with his purported babymama? Anything but Patrick’s total loyalty and fidelity to Robin will simply not ring true after yesterday’s moving and well-acted goodbye….

Standing O for sure ♥ Kimson! Need to offer a recurring for Kimberly!

Wow! I miss his old hairstyle. Lol

They are a nice couple. Not my personal fav, but I understand why a lot of the fans love them. At least this time though, he knows she’s alive and coming back. Sad last moments.

it was wonderful, save returns Robin!

Thank you so much Michael for giving Patrick and robin the recognition they deserve. They are no doubt one of the greatest soap couples to have ever come together. Jt and KMC are absolutely beautiful together. Their nuances and the comfort between them is just stunning. I’ve watched them for 8 years now and I’m sad that their relationship is seeming so final. They truly have something amazing together and it has been expressed onscreen throughout the years. It truly has been beautiful. I hope it is not the end for this duo. I just can’t seem to accept moving Patrick on to someone else after seeing his love for robin. Ugh I’ve cried like a baby over so many of their storylines! The last few days have just been amazing yet heartbreaking. Scrubs forever.

The Chemistry and Friendship between these two on screen and off screen is pure magical!!! I will have to say that when Jason Thompson came on as Patrick I did not like him Robin did not deserve a cocky rude person in her life, she deserved way better but as time went on I Fell in Love with him and this amazing couple!! They have made me laugh and cry and fall in love with them all over again many a times!! I Love them and I’m glad Kimberly has been able to Follow her dreams and be a director but I for one can’t wait till she is back in the arms of her One True Love and daughter:)

Sad Soap Net went away and I have missed all soaps and now this GH why did you bring back Robin just to take her away again. So happy not watching any more.

Hope the best for Kimberly, but not as Robin on GH. First there were the she’s-coming-back- to-GH teasers, now the overdone, too- long- goodbye using a less than acceptable storyline. All of these in too short a time. Too disruptive.

I’m happy newer viewers got a chance to see at least a few moments of the scenes of Patrick and Robin’s romance. Now they may be able to understand why Scrubs fans adore our couple and what magic Kimberly and Jason have brought to our screens over the last 8+ years. Scrubs are definitely on my list of all-time favorite couples and have created a realness to this on-screen couple that is born out of their real life close friendship. I am so grateful to have been a witness since the beginning and to have met both Kimberly and Jason. I wish them both all of the success in the world and can’t help but wish, in my Scrubbie heart, that one day soon Patrick and Robin will be reunited for good.

Love the montages for Robin & Patrick this was AMAZIMG!!! AS A GH FAN FOR OVER 50 YRS THEY R ONE OF DAYTIMES ALL TIME BEST!!! I HAVE WATCHED KIMBERLY GROW UP FROM THAT SPUNKY 7 YR OLD TO THE BEAUTIFUL WOMAN SHE IS TODAY!!! IM

I’M GOING TO MISS HER LIKE CRAZY, JUST KNOWNING SHE CAN & WILL COME BACK MAKES IT A LITTLE EASIER TO SAY SO LONG FOR NOW!!!! SCRUBS R THE BEST!!! GOOD LUCK KIMBERLY IN UR FUTURE PROJECTS!!!! SEE YA SOON GIRL!!! <3 :):):)

It rang a bit hollow for me; don’t buy she would ditch her family and put them through all that pain to save Jason. As much as I like the character Patrick they should have written him and the character Emma off the show and had them leave with her that is the only story line that would make sense to me.

This storyline was just pure emotional manipulation — writing scenes, just to write scenes — for emotional impact and now to character, plot or story development;her whole comeback was just pandering for ratings– it never felt organic from something real and true to the human condition, just contrived—-and did a disservice to the history and integrity of both characters and their relationship.
And if I was a longtime fan of the show I would be more pissed than pleased. And just because actors cry during a scene it doesn’t make it heartbreaking– this felt fake to me the minute she came back and her leaving didn’t even make a dent – except I am glad it is over and now we can get back to the real stories of the show.

No, the storyline that would make sense would be for her to actually die this time–preferably in Patrick’s arms so there can be no backtrack–and be gone.

If Kim wants to leave the show to pursue other things, great. But why should two other talented actors (more talented than her, imho) lose their jobs because of what she wants to do with her life?

To you maybe but NOT to many. Robin is an inspiration for many and doesn’t die so the forced
Disney princess gets to inherit her family AGAIN! or Patrick moves on . FYI who said others have to lose their job. GH is overloaded and she could be recurring and do both which she said many time. Besides JT might want to leave. Your just assuming he doesn’t.

I really, and truly, enjoyed, the flashback scenes… of when they met, their budding romance, the brith of Emma… their marriage….

You could truly see…. how magical this twosome is: (was)

I can’t explain away what went wrong… I don’t even know if it’s all the writers doing

nevertheless… the love story… is what rings true… for Scrubs

———–

it’s going to be touch and go… with how the writers choose to further develop JT’ Dr. Drake…. with Emma

I really like the idea… tht perhaps…. Emma goes and lives with Felicia and Mac…

OH… one couldn’t help… from a scrubs fan perspective… to still well up with emotion… that love can be this way…

—-

fan sentiment, for this 6 month arc was lacking… but the heart knows

OK – i’m done.

They have a beautiful, natural chemistry. It’s rare. Many great memories & outstanding performances. I will miss them. xo

I think we need a recast, Sarah Michelle Gellar would be perfect or Kelli Martin from ER/Life Goes On. She would be perfect. Hopefully Sabrina’s baby isn’t Patrick’s, but Carlos or the baby is kidnapped never to be seen again or it could die-as it’s not tied to any core families on this show. It’s only fair that it shouldn’t be able to co exist as poor Jake who was tied to central families-died for no reason! LONG LIVE SCRUBS!

They missed an amazing opportunity …being gone for 2 years, THAT would have put enough distance between Kimberley and all of us…. we LOVE Robin.. therefore we would have accepted it so much better than we had to swallow this recent blunder.

Chemistry with Patrick will be essential….start now GH! Anyone have a few ideas?

In fact here’s a starter: What about NADIA BJORLIN??? She was on DOOL as Chloe…. she would be amazing! The chemistry with her and Patrick would be HOT!

No Patrick will never be believable with anyone but Robin. Their chemistry is off the charts. Better story would have been leaving together or Robin be recurring and I would be thrilled to see Scrubs at times over not having them at all. Their scenes are magic and still are. ROBIN, PATRICK AND EMMA are the story no one else. Which is why GH blew her return wasting time with Patrick stuck with the Disney princess over sharing scenes with Robin. These last few weeks showed the real couple and that will ALWAYS be Scrubs

I thought the whole montage was spectacular!!! Great to have this to watch numerous times! Whoever chose the clips was spot on and I especially liked that they included a clip from the duo’s karaoke bit… loved that episode and miss those karaoke episodes… hint… hint!!!

Kimberly and Jason did an incredible job with those scenes and I will miss them playing off of each other until Kimberly returns! They make each other that more powerful in their performances when they are together. The chemistry and trust they share comes through in every performance!!!

I also thought the writing was stellar and yes… most of us wish Kimberly was not leaving… but this was handled in the best way possible to allow her to return! Kudos to RC and FV and all of the writing staff… you had an incredibly difficult task and you did a phenomenal job!!!

Thank you Michael for sharing these video’s so we can watch them a few times and yes… the hankies came out! This is not my absolute favorite GH couple but in my top 5-10! They have great chemistry and are a super couple!!! Thanks Michael!!!

I love flashbacks and montages, too! Love the history!

LOVED SCRUBS scenes these last few weeks. They are pure magic on screen. Even with the dumb story with another dumb pregnancy for Patrick after Britt was just done, it showed how it didn’t effect Scrubs and showed how in love this couple is. I hate all the evil people keeping them apart. Thanks to Kimberly McCullough and Jason Thompson for their magic and how you always see Scrubs love, even without dialogue, proves they are the couple and NO one could ever come close. If FV and RC are smart they would remember who got their ratings. I think we will see Robin sooner coming back to her hubby and child. FYI the ratings reflect and the soap mags and bloggers credit her return. They should know over some not willing to admit Robin made ratings go up. It started when she was announced and then continued to record highs with her reveal to Patrick and Emma..

Kimberly and Jason are IT. The best supercouple in GH history. I love my Scrubs, Kimberly, please hurry back!!! We miss you already!!! <3

Kimberly is one of the most believable actors on GH, and I am sad to see her leave. It was a sad day indeed and I can only hope for a return visit from her in the future. 🙁

I have tears in my eyes. These are some beautiful scenes that I have witnessed between patrick and Robin and they are totally awesome actors. but I have actually followed this storyline for the last 30 years starting with Noah and Bobbie so I have watched this whole storyline evolve and now ending with Patrick and Robin. Noah and bobbie was one of my favorite super couples! and Patrick and Robin are one of my favorite super couples as well! Beautiful awesome scenes together Jason and Kim! the two of you have made your scenes together come right off the screen and very heart wrenching and believable. these two people are fantastic actors and I’ve enjoyed watching Kim grow up before my very eyes but I’m hoping that this will open up the door for Sabrina and Patrick. Patrick and Robin have made a beautiful love story so let Sabrina and Patrick make another one. and Kudos to Ron Carlivati for renewing his contract Ron with your partner in Drama you write some fantastic storylines keep up the good work! The two of you rank right up there with the Gloria Monty days! sorry I didn’t mean to put pressure on you so forget it what I’m meaning is the two of you do awesome work!

I hope they don’t put patrick and sabrina together. No chemistry. But would love to see sabrina and carlos together. Now they have chemistry.

Patrick and Robin are such a beautiful couple. They show what real love is all about. The flashacks of the history of their relationship were so moving, I couldn’t hold back the tears. I was so happy when Robin finally returned home to Patrick and Emma. I will miss the Robin’ Patrick, and Emma story line.

I must say i love the character of Sabrina . That being said she does not have the chemistry that Patrick has with Robin. He is a fantastic actor and when he is with Robin you can feel the love . They are in my opinion one of the great General Hospital loves and I have watched since its inception.

Please keep the storyline open for Robin and Patrick to be reunited! There will never be a chemistry like the one they have. Jason Thompson is an excellent actor and Kimberly Mccullough is an excellent actress. They are the glue of the show General Hospital. Forever a fan,

Carla

I’ve never been a huge fan of Robin’s; but, I appreciate and value Kimberly’s legacy to the show. I think her departure storyline is ridiculous, leaving her family to go and try to save (unfreeze) Jason. I’m sure the door will always be open to Kimberly to return to Port Charles. Good luck, Kimberly! (I miss Robert; love Robert’s comedic style)!

They are magic together no our pairing generates the chemistry that they have. Granted Kimberly has decided to leave but that does not mean Patrick needs to be paired back up with Sabrina that would be a disaster. The montage shows the glaring difference in the lack of chemistry between Patrick and
Sabrina, it is not and never will be a believable and accepted pairing. Allow Patrick to be a single Dad to Emma and navigate his job, fatherhood and developing friendships without the need to be tied to the Passive Princess

Wonderful acting, especially on Thompson’s part. However, we knew from the beginning this is were GH was headed. GH should have killed Robin. We knew she was very adamant about pursuing other avenues. We could have avoided this ridiculous roller coaster ride, not just for the viewers, but Emma and Patrick as well.

I have watched GH since Robin was small, she cannot be replaced. Her and Patrick made the best team and Sabrina with child(hope it turns out not to be Patricks) does not fit. good luck Robin I cried because I waited so long for her return and now she goes off. Please get her back the show is not the same I so many that have gone for a while but love Sam also and hope Jason comes back. Than you GH it is the only soap I watch.

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Reconnects with Danny; Tristan Roberts Arrives in Port Charles, Lots of Nods to #16

General Hospital’s 16,000th episode was packed with little reminders through points in today’s script that the ABC daytime drama series has set another milestone and it paved the way for the return of fan favorite and newly nominated Daytime Emmy Lead Actor nominee Steve Burton (Jason Morgan). The 16,000th episode also introduced viewers to the new surgeon in Port Charles Dr. Tristan Roberts played by Dean Geyer.

Here are the key takeaways and what went down on the July 13 episode: Tristan and Jason are seated next to each other on a plane heading to Port Charles. Throughout the flight, a beaten up Jason has flashbacks to being thrown into, and being held captive in a cell and tortured. It appears Jason is suffering from some form of PTSD from what he was put through after being dragged out of Port Charles by the WSB months ago.

As the plane prepares to land, Tristan tells Jason there would be a car waiting for him once they land and to enjoy the rest of his life. Later, Tristan arrives at the nurses and doctors hub at GH and approaches Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). He tells her his name and that he is the new surgeon on staff.

A REUNION PLUS A HEAD NURSE DEFENDS SONNY

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jason is outside the Quartermaine boathouse looking bewildered when he runs into Danny (Asher Antonyzyn), who is so thrilled to see his father, and the two hugs each other as tears are shed.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth tells Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he thinks its a great idea for him to get the 16th seat on the hospital board, but when it comes times to convince Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) of that, things go awry when Tracy, Laura and Sonny try to work things out. After Tracy launches into Sonny about killing Alan and Monica’s son AJ, Sonny walks away dejected.

Next, Sonny runs into Elizabeth, where he informs her what happened with Tracy. So what’s a head nurse to do? Elizabeth marches into the conference room and reminds Tracy of all the different donations and ways Sonny has contributed to the hospital from the Stone Cates AIDS wing, to the Michael Corinthos Center for Pediatric Head Injuries as well as his constant support each year for the GH Nurses’ Ball.

WSB WAR SCARS

Then, in one of the best parts for longtime fans of the series, Elizabeth talks about her legendary grandparents, Audrey and Steve Hardy and she tells Tracy they would have wanted Sonny to have a seat on the board for all the good that he has done for the hospital. After Elizabeth states Sonny’s case, things took a turn and Tracy and Sonny wound up shaking hands as Sonny is board member #16.

In the how great was it to see Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) together scenes department, the pick-up of last Friday’s cliffhanger is played out as the two former lovers fill each other in on what has gone down in their lives in the last several months including Valentin admitting he had been living in Carly’s attic, and Anna realizing she was kidnapped by Cullum, Sidwell and Cassius Faison. During their conversation, Anna sees the hallucination of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) right while Valentin is standing there.

Later Anna was on her way to saying goodbye to Valentin, when the two share an emotional hug. After Valentin made his exit, Peter reappeared and warned Anna to not let Valentin distract her because she has important work to do. Anna answers, “I know.”

So, what did you think of General Hospital’s 16,000 episode? What do you think is wrong with Jason? What is the important “work” that Anna has to do? Were you glad to see Sonny get a seat on the hospital board, or not so much. Weigh-in via the comment section. But first, check out the scenes on Jason and Tristan’s long flight to Port Charles.
