The View's Executive Producer, Bill Geddie to receive Lifetime Achievement Award at Daytime Emmys!

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) will present the 39th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award to Bill Geddie, executive producer of The View, for his contributions as writer, producer and director in his more than 30-year television career.

This announcement was made today, live on The View”by creator/executive producer/co-host and former NATAS Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Barbara Walters. The award will be presented at the Daytime Emmy Awards gala on June 23, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

“Bill Geddie is an icon in the television industry,” said Malachy Wienges, Chairman, NATAS. “When he and Barbara Walters created ‘The View’ 15 years ago, they introduced a new and innovative daytime television talk show format. We at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences are proud to have Bill receive our 2012 Daytime Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Bill Geddie, along with Barbara Walters, serves as executive producer of  The View ABC’s critically acclaimed live talk and entertainment program produced by ABC and Ms. Walters’ Barwall Productions.  Mr. Geddie has also partnered with Ms. Walters for the past 25 years as the executive producer of “The Barbara Walters Specials” and “The 10 Most Fascinating People,” which he also co-writes and directs.

Mr. Geddie and Ms. Walters joined creative forces over 15 years ago for The View and have watched their original idea of women of different ages, experiences and backgrounds discussing the most exciting events of the day evolve into one of Daytime’s most popular and talked-about programs.  The View received the 2003 Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Talk Show” and is the recipient of numerous Daytime Emmy Award Nominations, including 12 nominations for Outstanding Talk Show. In 2009 The View hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd were named Outstanding Talk Show Host. It was the first time in the 39-year history of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences that multiple talk show hosts were bestowed this honor.

So how do you feel about Bill Geddie receiving this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award?  Good choice? Or, if you had the opportunity to pick a recipient, who would it be and why?  Let us know!

Sorry but I’d rather see someone more deserving, like Erika Slezak,

Christina,I agree with you,she has been at the same soap for 40 years and this guy gets it for what?Talk shows and hanging out with barbara walters for 25 years are they serious about this?Im sorry but who ever is in charge of the life time achievement award is a idiot.I never even heard of this dude before shouldnt the person that is getting this award be well known? Not just a guy who does everything behind the scenes, this is a disgrace ,I cant even comment any further .

That award should be going to Ms. Agnes Nixon for creating two scripted dramas, All My Children and One Life To Live, that both lasted more than 40 years on air!!!

Thats a very good Idea.

Agnes Nixon received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010 at the 37th Daytime Emmy’s… one probably remembers, because that was one of the years that the show was aired on The CW or something like that, and it was in Vegas (when they did such a horrible job producing the Emmy’s).

So does that mean Barbara and the other women on the View will finally attend a Daytime Emmy ceremony again :/ ?

this bill gettie is such an arogant idiot. he makes a drink and two women standing next to him, takes the drink and drinks it himself. where did you gorew up you rude idiot. dont like to watch that program.

The Young and the Restless Preview: Ashley’s New Alter Emerges

As promised, viewers of CBS’ The Young and the Restless are about to get a third alter of Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). So far, we have met Ms. Abbott and Ash, and next week, circle Wednesday’s April 24th episode of the top-rated soap as a new side of Ashley emerges.

In a preview for next week (see bel0w), Ashley’s new alter is at a bar with a lot of lipstick, and a southern accent. Who could this be? What will be her name? What does she represent? Stay tuned.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, Davidson shared on tackling Ashley’s DID storyline, “They’re all vastly different from one another. If I walk by the TV, and I happen to be on, I absolutely know who it is just by the way she’s looking”.  The two-time Daytime Emmy-winner added, “It takes a lot of concentration.”
