THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Adam Is Back As Mark Grossman Makes His Debut
As Friday’s episode of Y&R ended, Sharon (Sharon Case) exclaimed, “Oh, my God! It is you!” But viewers did not see who walked in the door, but it obviously is going to be Adam Newman in the flesh.
Now on next week’s key episodes of The Young and the Restless, Sharon and Adam (Mark Grossman) are reunited, although he seems to have amnesia and cannot recall anything about his life before the explosion where he was presumed dead.
In story, Victor (Eric Braeden) has enlisted Sharon to try to get through to Adam and help him remember his life, but will it work? Is Adam up to his old tricks? Is he setting everyone up, because … Adam is coming home to Genoa City!
Nick (Joshua Morrow) will obviously not be too happy about his brother being back, especially since he has been raising Adam’s biological son, Christian, and as we saw on Friday’s episode, Adam kept a photo of Christian, but no one else in the family.
Enter Mark Grossman on Monday’s episode as he makes his first appearance as the recast Adam following in the footsteps of Justin Hartley, who is now on This Is Us. Can Grossman make the role his own? Bets are, he will put his own footprint as all the Adams have done before him.
So, what do you think of how the writers are bringing Adam back to the canvas? Does he really not remember anything? Excited to see Mark take over the role? Is Shadam getting a second chance too? Share your thoughts via the comment section below, but first check out next week’s promo heralding Adam’s return.
All I can say is that it’s way beyond time they brought the character back.
I live in Canada so I got to see Monday’s episode already, and so far Mark fits the role perfectly. His scenes with Sharon show a genuine connection between the characters, and he seems to have the acting chops to follow the incredible work of Michael Muhney and Justin Hartley in the role. Josh Griffith clearly realizes the importance of having Adam around, and I’m looking forward to seeing him re-integrated with the rest of the characters.
Jimmy
Hope you are right. At only 32, he seems awfully young to be playing opposite Sharon, who is close to fifty I believe.
I agree no disrespect to the actor but the age is not appropriate for the character.
Sharon looks awesome though!
She always does she is beautiful! I think of all the women i soaps her abs Steffy from the Bold and Beautiful are the prettiest.
It is called acting.
Hi, Cassie,
This is exactly the age Adam should be. He is supposed to be much younger than both Victoria ( the eldest) and Nick.
The PTB messed up when they made Adam older and paired him with Sharon. Nonetheless, Sharon looks amazing!! I hope my body holds up as well as hers at that age!! She does not look much older than nuAdam to me. I am more nonplussed ( or bemused, actually) by how soap characters play musical beds —-Sharon has been with Nick, Adam, Dylan, and Victor. Have I forgotten anyone? LOL.
One of our fellow-posters stated that this Adam is an imposter. Hmmmm; good point. So far he seems genuine. He does have a secret, for sure. If he is the real Adam, could the text have been sent to Chelsea? I can’t remember exactly, but when she left, didn’t Chelsea have two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars with her? Is that the same money Adam hid in the sideboard?
I am not taken by the actor yet. He is not simpatico at this point. We shall see. As the story develops, I imagine, so will the character. There is a distinct dichotomy between this Adam and Muhney’s Adam….therefore, sooner or later, we need to see some of the good/bad Adam….the “provocateur” quality, that is soooo inherently Adam, kept the character interesting and elusive. Thus, I hope nuAdam’s persona will be able to convey that ( a little touch of villainy?).
I totally agree he is very handsome but too young and they are making him too evil. It’s a turn off!!! He could be playing Sharon’s son what they gave him that little mustache do they think that is going to make him look older. No offense to him but he is too thin to play Adam so I give a thumbs down for the the second time!
I am also from Canada and I agree with Jim. Soaps ages are subjective at best. Gina Tognoni as Phyllis was nowhere near old enough to play mother to the Daniel character. If the writing and acting is on point, we just have to look past the actors’ and characters’ ages. As an unknown, this guy has some acting chops…witnessed on only his first day. I never liked Muhney…maybe because Adam was dark and so evil. I loved Justin Hartley in the role…he was softer, more human, playful and charismatic. I hope this Adam will be more like that!
I want this Adam to be more as Muhney since he’ll need it as he deals with Nick.
Why does Sharon’s age matter? I didn’t hear or read about anyone saying anything when Victor married younger women!
Perhaps in an ideal world, all these characters should have aged in real time, no SORAS whatsoever for the sake of pushing story when they’re not patient enough to do so.
Glad to hear that Jimmy. Mark has huge shoes to fill from the three previous actors that they left behind!
So far, I like!
He hasn’t said a word yet but I already don’t like him. No offense to the actor, I just want Michael Muhney! He will always be ADAM!
I felt the same way when Justin Hartley was cast in the role, and he did phenomenal work. And you will be surprised how well Mark embodies Michael Muhney’s mannerisms and facial expressions. Watching him brought back memories of Muhney’s Adam, so I’d say that he’s doing well in the role so far.
I am a HUGE MM fan and only wanted him to reprise the role. BUT, CBS didnt want having nothing to do with him so we have to move on. The character is badly needed. Now we see if this dude can come through. Give him a chance Shari.
Hi Timmm and Jimmy–
)ooh mercy-
New Adam looks like the Pool Boy the Cougars ask in for a twirl.
He may be a good actor, not the problem, he just doesn’t fit in
He is age deprived .. !!
suOOO
My sentiments exactly, only you said it better! Also, I feel that he makes Sharon look older.
Just everybody back off of case she is doing her job and she looks Dam fine for 47 ! This is only temporary I think he and Chelsea are in cahoots so everybody can get off her back she is simply doing her job ! That actress has been run thru the mill since 2006 we finally get her back on track and here we go again let’s throw her under the bus she is one of the nicest people I know ! Steve Burton was not crap on that show until they hooked him up with Case she carry’s everybody and yet we trash her sick of it
Kay, I couldnt have said it better!
They trashed his reputation and guess what the story boobgate was leaked by am husband who works for tmz you do the math been five years and he still can’t find work
They will never bring back Michael Muhney. Just as DOOL will never bring back Robert Kelker-Kelly.
He reminds me of the new Thomas on b&b. Same type. No depth to make the character their own. Michael Muhney captured the essence of Adam.
MM was THE best BUT lets give the new guy 6 months and see what he can do.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow’s episode of Y&R!
Wish him luck he deserves a chance he looks to me like he could have a dark edge to him and CE & MM brought that I always felt Pratt wrote JH version as more obsessed over Chelsea so I am hoping we get back to the scheming dark side of Adam . I personally think he is pulling a scam that he does not have amnesia. He tested with Case and obviously they felt he could pull it off.
Hartley was good on Y&R but would have been better as another character. Adam is dark. Justin was to soft. I could not stand his obsession over HELLsea! Justin has done amazing on “This is Us” and its not a surprise. Lets hope the new guy is back to swindling the Mustache! Go Adam!
I agree with what you said about Justin and Adam’s character.
Let’s put this character to rest short story Sharon has grown let her move on I like her with Rey
I think Sharon has more chemistry with NUAdam than she does with Rey!
“Shadam” looks more May-December. And it makes no sense to go that way since Justin Hartley’s Adam had nothing to do with Sharon.
Chelsea is the love of his life. Sharon is history.
i must say while everyone screams about mal young at least he brought something different to the daytime genre while not everything was great i must say i have never been so bored since josh griffith took over. first off the crowd around devon must go every last one ana is a snore the uncle who is a montell jordan wannabe elena who everyone was so excited about go back to gh ! these bad generic songs stop singing love mariah but her girl needs to go too cannot stand the character of lola sorry i am rooting for summer one of mal youngs best jobs was michael mealor as kyle josh has all but ruined him with lola do not care about nu adam love sharon but why is she in his orbit and the writing he has no memory but he is a professional gambler going by the name spyder heaven help us this seems to be turning into a be careful what you wish for situation stay tuned
I think it is ridiculous. The U.S. soaps are the only shows who do this crap. Let the characters stay dead.
Well I saw two days of him he is scamming them I hate that Sharon will be hurt again but so it goes ! He is texting Chelsea now maybe this time rude off into the sunset ! Bye
I agree, Kay. It has to be a scam. The story is being rushed and I don’t believe this is really Adam at all.
You would not be discussing her age if she was a man . Case has carried every actor she is paired with sure he will write her nuts soon that’s his profile she wil do it that’s who she is at the end of today’s he texted somebody probably his fellow con artist Chelsea Lordy now all I will see is MCE in her underwear calling it acting and now Stafford coming back she calls that acting too so it goes back off the dvr
Just watched the new Adam. He has acting chops and seems to be off to a promising start. Definitely picture him as the Adam before he becomes the next Justin Hartley.
Uh,oh, just watched Fri. show. Me thinks maybe Chloe is back for another shot at Adam.
Just met new Adam; am behind in viewing. The age difference with Sharon stood out; particularly because of Jack and his latest attachment which seems to have thankfully faded. (She was a unique actor. It just was not the right role.) May\December romances need delicate touches.
I guess new Adam could follow the evil Victor side or the more softer side Justin portrayed which I appreciated. Victor had gotten so evil at one point in the writing that things were difficult to watch.
Sharon’s acting was superior. It seemed a one-sided shot. Adam didn’t shine yet.
As someone else said, who are these new Devon people; too many. I don’t like to say this, Mariah is one of my favorites, but much as I would like to appreciate her partner, I don’t think she fits.
Lastly, one day watching, perhaps years ago, it was announced by Victor that Christian was Adam’s child. That was the era of a mixed up guy in the genetics lab. I think Nick is the father.
How about guys! Respectfully submitted as always.
Join the discussion…Sorry, I meant “How about that! and not the rest of that sentence. Always mean respectfully.
Hi Tani
Yes there was a mix up in the lab by Adam and Victor, but during the custody fight last year for Christian, they did another DNA, proving that Adam was the baby’s bio dad. My heart broke for Nick.
Thank you Violet, I trust you more than my light viewing patterns, however, it is that last test that I feel Victor paid to have Adam be the father.
Best …
I like him so far – and have to say I love those chiseled cheekbones LOL. I am a huge Muhney fan and there is nothing I would like better than to see him reprise the role; he will always be Adam to me. But I know that a return would never happen. I’m a bit surprised that I like this actor almost right away; with the exception of Gina T. most recasts take me a while to get used to. As for the age thing, I’m trying not to think about it any more.
They are making this Adam act so mean I am thinking about not watching the show anymore that’s how bad it has been.i hate it I can’t hate the actor it’s not his fault it’s the writers. I think he is very handsome but to nasty for me. The Y and the R ur are making a big mistake.Ypu are going to lose a lot of viewers that’s my opinion!!!!!
Phyllis Kevin Adam Chelsea Chloe Michael all dark people different story tellers tried to make them into good guys they never were soaps need nasty people it’s what tells a story ! My goodness Kevin tried to fry Colleen ! That is why everybody was upset with MY trying to rewrite JT he was a bad boy but never evil and his live story with Colleen was epic

‘General Hospital’ Fall 2026 Preview: Unexpected Arrivals and Romance; Sonny and Drew at War, What Happened to Jack?

General Hospital’s co-head writers, Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte have given the ABC daytime drama’s fall preview of what to look for in the months ahead in Port Charles.
According to the scribes, as told to TV Insider, “Unexpected arrivals, unexpected romance and unexpected connections,” are the order of the season, plus, “secrets are going to be exposed that will upend lives for better and worse — and new secrets will need to be kept.”
In the relationship department, don’t expect everything to go the way you may think! Let’s take a look at some of the highlights that point to some major moments in the near future on GH.

Photo: ABC
ROMEO AND JULIET
“The conflict between Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) will continue to build with potentially fatal consequences,” shared the head writers as Scout (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) and Rocco’s (Finn Carr) relationship gets more solid, the more it will be tried to be pulled apart, especially by Drew. This is what they are calling their “Romeo and Juliet” young love story.
BURYING JACK BRENNAN
Nina (Cynthia Watros) will be in the hot seat, thanks to evidence planted by Drew and Carly (Laura Wright) overhearing her threatening the MIA Jack. According to the GH head writers, “Nina may face a dark future — but perhaps not as dark a future as those who seek her downfall.” Meanwhile Ava (Maura West) and Drew’s unholy alliance will have “repercussions for years to come.” Let’s not forget they buried Jack’s body.
JASON AND BRITT MAY NOT LAST
Those who wanted Jason (Steve Burton) and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) romance to come to an end, may get their wish! As the head scribes shared, “Decisions Britt made to stay alive while under (Ross) Cullum’s thumb will come back to haunt her and may prove too difficult for this unlikely couple to survive.”

Photo: ABC
ANNA’S BREAKING POINT AND CAN VALENTIN STAY AWAY ?
As for Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), who Jason is trying to save and who has lost her way (thanks to visions of Peter August) and being gaslighted by Cullum and company, it will, “lead to her breaking point and may lead another person to an early grave.” On that note, Carly and Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) relationship is tested after his attempt to buy back Spoon Island. Only problem is someone else got their first, and it may be hard for Valentin to deny his feelings for Anna aren’t greater than he thinks.

Photo: ABC
BROOK LYNN’S LIFE AS SHE KNOWS IT BLOWS UP IN HER FACE
The writers added, “Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) face a turning point. Her secret may finally unravel their marriage; worse, it may leave the family vulnerable when someone comes calling with a claim on Phoebe.” Will Chase now hop between the sheets with his ex Willow? And, will Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) stake his claim to be the father of the little Phoebe? How can Brook Lynn’s life as she knows it survive this?
TRINA’S STALKER … WHO IS IT?
Does Trina (Tabyana Ali) have a stalker … or a true number one genuine fan? Whatever the case, something ominous is going to happen to Kai (Jen Austin Astrup), when the GH writers shared, “Kai is true blue and will step up to defend Trina— but his closeness to Trina may prove detrimental to his health.” In addition, the stalker situation pairs up Emma (Braedyn Bruner) and Trina to try get to the bottom of who is behind it, but in doing so, may have put a target on Emma’s back.

Photo: ABC
‘BLOODY’ SITUATION WHERE JOSSLYN IS CONCERNED
Josslyn Eden McCoy) gets new orders from the WSB after Brennan goes missing, and things may get “bloody” report the writers. They add, “Joss has her sights set on Sonny — but she’s a target, too. JJE is a big prize, and she isn’t the only one entitled to it.” Who else could be?

Photo: ABC
PAST ROMANCE FOR ALEXIS COMES BACK AROUND
Could Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Ric (Rick Hearst) find themselves in each other’s arms? According to the GH head writers, “A past romance will rear its head in a surprising way,” for Alexis. Who else could it be if not Ric, who may feel jilted by Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) if she and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) get any closer? Might it be the return of Jerry Jacks?
MICHAEL AND JORDAN BECOME CLOSE
Michael (Rory Gibson) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) will develop a “special bond” while working together at Aurora and while Curtis (Donnell Turner) is away in prison. However, “a face from Jordan’s past will complicate her future. We’ll start to learn more about the woman Jordan was before she ever joined the DEA and came to Port Charles.” Is this William Baines (Alimi Ballard) or someone else yet to arrive? Stay tuned.
