The remainder of the CBS Daytime line-up comprised of The Talk, The Price is Right and Let’s Make A Deal all saw gains in total viewers for the ratings week as well, as well as key demos.

Looks like CBS is the place to be in the afternoon!  So, what do you think of the ratings performance of Y&R and B&B? Comment below!

I feel the writing lately on Y&R is terrible. So dragged out, the new Adam it’s been well over a year.

Too bad both are boring!

Cool..CBS rules in the ratings..I am sure is all about 18-49, and there is when ABC gets more ratings.

I am not sure about that, Omar. Recent news reports have come out about how The Nielson ratings have been somewhat unreliable and erroneous. I read that they erroneously made it look like GH had higher ratings in that demographic than it really did.
In any case, I don’t look at the soaps as competing with each other. Rather, they are competing against other afternoon programming genres such as talk shows, cooking shows and game shows. Any rise in ratings for any soap is good news for the soap opera ratings genre period and will help sustain their existence. So, this is good news for all of the four existing soaps.

Thanks for that update, I did not know Harry..AND yes any gain on any of the 4 soaps is good news for the genre…There is still so many displaced soap viewers out there that stop watching daytime soaps after their soaps got cancelled..If those fans tune in to one or more of the remaining 4, ratings for genre will rise some more!! I just wish the networks will work hard at trying to lure young viewers via advertising and promotions..We need a new generation of viewers, once we all drop dead, LOL.

Great news Young and The Restless is on fire now, The ratings really prove that. I love Gina Tagnoni as the new Phyllis. Gina is a terrific actress, I am so happy Gina is back in daytime, where she belongs.

Agreed–Y&R is hitting it out of the ball park these days. Not a fast forward moment to be found. Even the Winters’ family is interesting.

Neil being blind has turned him into an acting champ! Shame on Devon! Cane, how can he stand by and watch this going on? Neil will eventually regain his eye sight and he will see things that will confirm his suspicions! I see him keeping his recovery a secret until he gets Devon and Hillary right where he wants them. I cannot believe the Winters family is actually entertaining again!

I’m loving Gina Tognoni as Phyllis! For once I didn’t fall asleep during a scene with Jack in it

Right???!!??!!

Bah ha ha! And, Mark? I adore Peter Bergman but he and Kelly (love Cady too) are rather somnolent inducing together.
jack looks like a deer stuck in the cross lights while Phyllis rapidly and intensely interrogates him about what has been going on for the last year.

This is good news for the cbs soaps. Y&R was great last week with the Shick wedding and the return of Phyllis.

I love Y&R…and, I love Gina Tognoni…not with Jack, though…ugh!!!!!!
And, as much as I lavish my admiration on Gina, I hope I will stop comparing her to Michelle…it isn’t fair to Ms Tognoni. I chide myself because Gina is an outstanding protagonist.

Great news and well-deserved. Both shows have really improved IMO. Keep it up CBS.

hard to believe ,since the story lines specially on Y&R is so stupid ! honest ,repetiteve ,just dumb and boring!!

y n r s been so hot lately! hope the new exec chris pratt doesnt feel the need to change everything as new execs always do! y n r more than evers feeling like the y n r we all know and love!

No accounting for taste.

Oh come on, now. Marcy, this is good news for all of the four soaps–no need to get all petulant about it.

Always loved these shows. Y and R my all time favorite. I like all the new character changes, it gives others a chance to show their acting abilities.

On B&B I’m loving the sexy Caroline/Ridge storyline. It’s what soaps are all about. Two gorgeous people working together, fighting their feelings, while Ridge goes for broke to win the CEO position and Maya schemes to break up Rick and Caroline. Fans like me must be tuning in to see them because this is one of B&B top stories. Go B&B!

Go CBS!

I heard today on the radio, that Morgan Fairchild is in talks to join General Hospital as a new character.

Great news. She is a good actress and still looks great! I can see her connected to Madeline. She actually looks like a younger sister of Donna Mills.

i want billie miller back/. he was so lively. and really acted the part. victora and billy were a very good match. not really careing for the new billy. so sorry

Can someone explain to me as we rejoice over Y&R’s ratings why Nikki made a deal to meet with Ian as long as he agreed to testify that Dylan didnt kill him. What the? I mean Paul heard Nikki talking to Ian and Paul is the Chief. What more does he need to release Dylan. Ian is alive! Why is Dylan still in jail? What did I miss?

I wish I could answer you, but I only watch Days of our Lives on NBC!!!

Paul knew Ian wasn’t dead and was setting Dylan up for his murder but he needed proof of this. So a plan was devised that Nikki would put an ad in the newspaper asking Ian to contact her. If he did, they would use Nikki as bait to entrap Ian, which would prove Dylan didn’t kill him, but also so they could arrest Ian for kidnapping Mariah.

When Ian contacted Nikki she had to give the impression her reason for wanting to meet with him was for Dylan’s sake. They had to give Ian the impression his plan to frame Dylan for murder had worked, and that was Nikki’s only motivation to see him, to help her son, otherwise he might suspect it was a trap.

Paul needed to have Ian physically in custody otherwise because he is Dylan’s father, they might think he fabricated evidence to get his son free. So the point of the sting operation, wasn’t just prove Ian was alive, but to capture him as well.

And Dylan is free or will be free by Monday’s show.

Thanks Mary.

Wait til you see the ratings for all four shows. Then come back and criticize.

Congrats CBS!

REPORT: Nicholas Chavez Not Returning to General Hospital

For those who were holding out hope that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, Nicholas Chavez would be returning to General Hospital after filming his leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters anthology, it looks like those hopes have been dashed.

According to a report from TV Line, although unconfirmed from General Hospital or a representative for Chavez, the actor will not reprise his role as Spencer Cassadine on the long-running ABC soap opera and continue the love story of Sprina opposite Tabyana Ali (Trina, GH).

Chavez was cast as Lyle Menendez over the the summer of 2023 for the second season of Murphy’s limited Monsters series on Netflix. In the upcoming season, the series will focus on the the case of Lyle and Erik Menendez, the two well-to-do Beverly Hills brothers accused of murdering their parents in 1989.

After word from Chavez casting was revealed, GH fans were concerned over the fate of the Sprina story, a spokesperson for GH shared,  “We support Nicholas’ endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”

In story, the series “killed off” Spencer when he went overboard with Esme to the steely waters below after being injected with a drug, thanks to Esme and falling into the Seine River in France. However, his body was never recovered, and believed to have drowned or washed away. Thus, leaving an opening for Spencer to return in the form of Chavez or be recast down the line.

TV Line shared that ‘multiple sources’ are confirming that Chavez is not returning to the ABC soap opera, which is what many had suspected might be the case once he left for this major starring role in a Ryan Murphy project. Chavez has been relatively quiet on social media for months.

The Michael Fairman Channel spoke with Nicholas Chavez for a virtual interview when he first joined the show in 2021, and spoke to him right after when he won the Daytime Emmy in 2022 – you can see those below.

No word yet on when Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story will debut on Netflix, but it is assumed later this year.

Jack Wagner Open to Making an Appearance in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot and Shares, “You Never Really Die on a Soap”

With the Melrose Place revival the talk of the town, now Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco, GH, ex-Nick, B&B and ex-Peter Burns, MP) has weighed-in on it and if he would show up in the new series if it should find a home.

Currently, CBS Studios is developing a reboot starring Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton. But what is Dr. Peter Burns were to show up alive?

As those who saw the end of the original MP know, Peter and Amanda (Locklear) faked their deaths and then tied the knot with Peter on a beach, supposedly in a “happily ever after” scenario.

Photo: Fox

Speaking with PEOPLE, Wagner expressed, what we all know who watch the soaps, that no one is never, ever really gone for good. Jack expressed, “You never really die on a soap, right? How they unfold those two characters (Peter and Amanda), it’d be fantastic how they sort of tell that story.”

Wagner added, “That was a great finale to be included in, especially with Heather. If I’m asked to come back, I’d absolutely entertain that.”

Photo: Fox

The original Melrose Place aired for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999. The story featured the residents of an apartment complex, whose lives were intertwined. Eventually Wagner and Heather Locklear dated fro 2007-2011.

As previously reported, the new Melrose Place share that some of original neighbors and friends reunite after a death. The loglines add, “The pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you like to see Jack Wagner return as Dr. Peter Burns on Melrose Place, or Frisco Jones on GH, or both? Comment below.
