When Genoa City’s Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) suddenly dropped out of sight on episodes of The Young and the Restless, it was a bit confusing, especially given that the legal eagle was about to represent his bestie, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

Heather (Vail Blooom) wound up back in town to represented Phyllis, when it was explained that Michael had to get out of dodge fast to help his mother Gloria (Judith Chapman), who found herself in sticky situation, and in all places, Singapore.

In real-life, Christian was privately battling cancer which he found out back in June of this year, after landing at St. John’s Providence Hospital in Santa Monica, California. LeBlanc revealed the information for the first time during a hometown TV interview on CBS affiliate 4WWL in New Orleans.

Christian explained when he landed in the hospital, it there he learned had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells.  The same cancer that Louisiana republican congressman, Steve Scalise, has been diagnosed with.

Warning signs were present that LeBlanc detailed which included: the wedding ring he wore as Y&R’s Michael, and how it easily fell off his finger. He additionally experienced nosebleeds. One of his eyes felt “a little wonky” and a tumor was discovered in his sinus cavity that was putting pressure on his his optic nerve.

The actor also explained that if he hadn’t gone in for an eye exam it may have progressed further, as he had “very fast cancer”. However, after surgery, and undergoing immunotherapy treatment, LeBlanc shared he rapidly lost 35 pounds in two months. The doctors told him from this point to “eat like it’s your job.”

The good news is LeBlanc shared that his cancer is in total remission. and he will be back on-screen on The Young and the Restless beginning with the Thanksgiving episodes of the top-rated daytime drama.

Check out the interview with Christian where he candidly talks about his cancer battle below.

Welcome to the survivor club Christian. I’m happy that you’re in remission.

Ditto! We get through it!

I love Christian I hope he is ok

Stumbled across this site. Yes, as others have said, here is wishing you more than the best. Most have some cancer stories in their families as do I. Today is my daughter’s birthday. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was twelve. That was decades ago. Always liked you on Y&R and wondered about your hair. Thanks for coming forward. It isn’t always easy.

Prayers for him this is a horrible cancer to have.

Susan said, “It’s definitely like coming home in a way, even though it’s not the same studio. It’s really lovely to see old faces and old faces with new faces. It takes you back mentally. You start remembering what it was like back then, even things like how much your feet would ache at the end of the day from wearing six-inch heels. It was just lovely to be back and see everybody.”

Ian expressed, “It’s a mind trip, you know. When I was sitting looking at the big Forrester set, it was like stepping back in time, almost. It takes you back mentally, and you start remembering what it was like when you were here before.”

THE 411 ON TIA AND KALISTA

Speaking with TV Insider, about their soapy experience in Fairmont Crest, Tabitha Brown previewed about her host with the most, “Tia is very professional, but she’s a girl’s girl. She is a protector of women and wants to tell their stories in a beautiful way, but she also wants to make sure they’re seen in a very good light.”

However, Burruss previews that Kalista arrives with a score to settle. “She’s spicy,” shared the recording artist. “I always love playing somebody that has come to start trouble. It’s always fun to play a villain of sorts, but Kalista feels like she’s been done wrong and she’s hurt by what she feels has been done to her. So Kalista is stirring up trouble, but she feels justified putting Dani on blast. Kalista is ready for some payback.”

Beyond the Gates is produced by CBS Studios, as part of the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. Created by head writer Michele Val Jean, executive producers include Val Jean, Sheila Ducksworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracey Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey.

Beyond the Gates is broadcast weekdays on CBS (2:00-3:00 PM, ET/1:00-2:00 PM, PT) and is available to stream on Paramount+**.
