News today via CBS is that the number one soap opera The Young and the Restless had a very strong ratings week November 3rd through the 7th!  In fact, the show garnered its largest weekly audience since March of his year, and daytime’s top drama was up in week-to-week digits in all key women demographics!

So what attributed to the ratings surge? There was the highly-anticipated debut of Justin Hartley as the bandaged Adam Newman on the November 5th episode of the sudser!  And in addition, this was the week where Sharon (Sharon Case) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) revisited the stairwell, and the truth came out that Nick (Joshua Morrow) is the true bio-dad of Summer (Hunter King), not Jack (Peter Bergman) …  and that Sharon switched the paternity tests!

For the week, Y&R averaged 4.98 million viewers, up +6% from the prior week (from 4.71m) and its largest audience since the week ending March 7.  Among key women demographics, it was up +5% in women 25-54 (2.0/13 from 1.9/12), +8% in women 18-49 (1.3/09 from 1.2/09) and +17% in women 18-34 (0.7/06 from 0.6/05).

So, was last week’s Y&R must-see TV for you?  What do you think of the ratings number?  Do you think the show will continue to stay strong with its major upcoming storylines?  Weigh-in below!

Today was boring but it has been a great show of late!

y n r is so great right now. its more character driven , but still has bombshells and twists!, adams grandmother!
shame headwriters were switched just as things were consistent, now we have to endure the envitable new character crap every headwriter feels is their duty to bore us with!
still miss tyler and leslie …

Goes to show you just how much Y&R is on the right track and has been for quite some time; CBS and Sony are stupid to attempt to change their regime at this point, because it’s the best the series has been in over ten years time now.

I completely agree. I find myself watching every day and enjoying the characterisations. The dialogue is even sometimes ok:)

I basically watch everyday, but I was excited to see Justin. Hope to see more of him (i.e., take of the bandages and get him back to GC) and throw Billy out of your condo!

Sharon getting busted! I was so sick of Shick and their happy little family after watching what Sharon did Summer and Phyllis. I loved that Nick dumped her and Phyllis got her revenge by outing her in front of Nick.

I luved it too..
I really was smiling watching sharon get her ass kicked LOL..
I can’t wait until victor starts to bounce her off the walls !!
it ain’t done, not yet.. more to come!! 🙂

Yup, MM left Y and R and they are really going down the drain, NOT. Anticipation to see the new Adam and other stories put the show right at 5 MILLION viewers. All his fans who said they would never watch again didnt amount to a drop in the bucket!!

If I recall correctly MM himself asked his fans to be nice and to be fair with the new Adam. Weather or not this Adam works will tell in time. Judging from today I think he will pull it off. He needs to be given a chance and I am sure all MM fans will do that.

Nikki, I wish I shared your confidence in Y&R fans–let us hope they do not run true to type. But I agree–let us give the man a chance.
He’s already doing a really good job with the bandages on.
I really believe and feel that that is Adam.

Can we just move on from the constant MM remarks it is not fair to him or the new actor who is trying to settle into the role. From all reports MM has moved on I think everyone else needs to.

The show is very good. I love traditional soap and this qualifies. I can watch my action and gangster stuff on my prime time shows. Hope it continues as it has been.

Seems to me-
people got so bored waiting a year for the who is the daddy story to come to an end that they got tired of waiting and wasting their time FF that they tuned out..

Then while in grocery store checkout line they saw the magazine cover telling that finally the end, the revelle, was here and they tuned back in to see it..
And- the curiosity of new Adfam..

I’m waiting for Pratt !! 🙂

Couldn’t put it better. Curiosity about Adam put the numbers up. I have to admit although I think in time the new Adam will work out fine, I was secretly hoping when they gave him the mirror it would be a surprise for the fans and MM was back. The day he fell and Sage kept on talking and he said ( shut-up) he really sounded like MM. I don’t think he ‘s as handsome as Michael but like Phyllis after awhile he’ll fit in.

I have been wowed by how much the new actor’s voice sounds like MM!
Looking forward to seeing his face, and how well he has it down with
other Adam mannerisms. I have a feeling he will fit in nicely.

I noticed that too, how similar their voices were– don’t know if that was done on purpose or just a happy coincidence but it made the transition to a new face more believable.

I think it shows how well a “traditional” soap can do. No OTT story lines. A great November sweeps so far!

Agree the storyline about the paternity test involved 4veterans of the show and GT is doing a bang up job as the new Phyllis. When JFP first came on I was scared she would run all the veterans off but two years later they are still here and still carrying major story. kudos!

Y&R has been really good lately. I love the addition of Cameron Grimes & Gina Tognoni. I’m sure Justin Hartley & Kelly Sullivan will be great too. All around big improvements.

Go Y&R!

The episodes of late have been good. Happy for the ratings, but can the “” Who’s the daddy ? storylines stop.?

Great for Y&R. I know I can’t wait to watch every day.

Wonderful news, Y&R is on fire right now. The story lines are getting good now. I love Kelly Sullivan as Sage.

Brilliant idea to pull the old plastic surgery card for me it will make it easier to accept a new actor in the role. I do wish Jill had more of a storyline but this may be what Jess Walton wants.

I believe people have moved on but the love they had for their actor wont fade. I do believe the ratings went up for a couple of reasons. 1st. Victoria’s baby & who’s the daddy, 2nd. Is the new Phyllis going to cut it, and 3rd. The new Adam. We already know the new Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) is a keeper & the fans love her. Now Victoria, they didn’t say anything but we can guess it’s Stitch because if it was Billy it may break-up Billy & Chelsea and there would be no war with Adam because Billy would be spending all his time with Vicky. Which leaves us to the new Adam. I believe he’ll make it but he wont be as popular as MM was. The problem isn’t Adam as much as it’s Sony, the television station, as well as the producers of Y & R. The fans of MM hate them because they paid no attention to what the fans wanted. They look at it as the fans we’re loyal & in return they we’re not. I was a big fan of Michael but still watch the show. My three neighbors who are also fans hate the show and have not turned it on since he left. So on that note we’ll just have to keep an eye on the ratings.

Kay–once again, we agree. As Queen once sang,”Mama Mia let me (Michael) go.” And I loved Michael’s Adam–he was brilliant and sublime. But he’s gone and he’s not coming back. Let us move on.
On a different note, the heart attack Meredith Baxter feigned in the basement of the Jabot offices was ridiculously unrealistic. That’s not how it happens! That is especially not how it happens in women.
It was so bad that I actually thought the character was faking it to get out of letting Victoria out of the utility closet. That was so bad she makes Redd Foxx’s Fred Sanford’s f(rom Sanford and Son) heart attack look alarmingly realistic.

@Harry I will be honest with you I am not a fan of Meredith Baxter’s work I can think do a lot of daytime actresses that could have done that role us twice Anna Stuart/Donna from Another World comes to mind. Also ever since AH/Victoria has taken over the role she has become quite the whiner which bores me to tars not the tough business woman Heather Tom created plus HT’s portrayal would never have put up with Victor’s constant interference. But then again this is only my opinion! 🙂

I loved Meredith Baxter on Family Ties, but she’s just not working for me in this role. Who would I have cast? Erika Slezak. Yes, I know she is known for playing Victoria Lord, the pristine, classy blue blood. But she is also known for playing her alter, Nikki Smith, the bawdy, bar hopping, gum shopping floozy. Sleazak would have been perfect in this role.
I agree with you that Heather Tom really was her father’s daughter–a woman who doesn’t suffer fools gladly and who is a real ball buster. This Victoria is so whiny wimpy.

I hope all the MM fans do what Michael said and respect the new actor playing the part of Adam. Its time to move on.

I have no problem doing that wish the actors on Y&R would do the same.

So dissappointing

I think it was because of sharon and nick Victoria having her baby and the new adam

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?

The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
