Y&R’s EP and Head Writer, Josh Griffith Previews 2025 in Genoa City: A Massive Showdown, Romeo and Juliet Story, Life and Death Situations
The Young and the Restless has big plans for the citizens in Genoa City, according to its executive producer and head writer, Josh Griffith. From the sounds of it, there will be plenty of romance, corporate intrigue, mystery and battle lines drawn in the sand.
In a 2025 preview with TV Insider, Griffith teased what’s to come for many key characters and storylines including: how Ian Ward (Ray Wise) and Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) will continue to pull the rug over everyone’s eyes as they seek revenge against the Newmans and company, but for how much longer? That is the question!
According to the head scribe, “We’re headed for a wild ride and a massive showdown between this diabolical duo and the Newmans. Look for major showdowns between Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Jordan and Victor (Eric Braeden) and Ian.”

Meanwhile, viewers will start to get clued-in to what truly went down over the last six months since Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) death, the results of which will, “shake up Mariah (Camryn Grimes) in a huge way and affect her relationship with Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), and it will bring Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) closer than ever.”
Griffith also shares that arch-rivals, Sharon and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), will be, “thrown into a life-or-death situation where they’re both going to have to reevaluate their relationship.”

Elsewhere, Victor and Jack’s (Peter Bergman) latest round of their feud is far from over with Victor going after Jabot, which Griffith says also plays into “a big Romeo and Juliet type story that we’re going to tell. Claire (Hayley Erin) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) will be caught right in the middle.” Look for Summer (Allison Lanier) to take on a bit of a “Phyllis attitude” when she wants Kyle back further complicating matters.

In addition, Josh revealed, “As we build this powerful Romeo and Juliet story, they will all be affected – Nikki, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) Victor – and Nick will be heavily involved in the next arc of this Ian fallout for Sharon.”
The Winters clan also gets a boost in story when a new mystery unravels with the arrival of actor Nathan Owens to Y&R, and romance looks to be ahead for Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam (Mark Grossman), while Billy will be caught in a triangle with Sally (Courtney Hope) and Phyllis.
So, what are you most looking forward to most from this Y&R preview from Josh Griffith as we ring in the new year? Comment below.
I have no desire to watch Summer chase after Kyle, Billy and Kyle in romantic triangles or see Victoria replaced by her own daughter. Why has Amelia Heinle missed so much time? Is she leaving the show?
I agree with you, I wonder what happened to Victoria the actress too.
Summer always wants Kyle back when he find happiness with another girl. She did the same thing with Lola. Hope he doesn’t fall for her machinations again.
Agree, Sam. Y&R should focus on Summer and Kyle’s new relationship with Chance and Claire to let that grow instead of dragging us back to the boring Summer & Kyle. I’m not interested in Summer and Kyle again with their lack of chemistry. It’s just watching the bold and the beautiful’s Hope and Liam but worse. Sorry to say that!
I loved Skyle until he cheated with Audra. He was blatant and uncaring. Summer has found a good thing with Chance, and I hope she ends up going back to him. He really cares about her.
Yes. I was wondering the same about “Claire”. Is she “turning” bad again? End up in jail with her aunt? Is she leaving , too?
this whole thing with Sharon and Phillis is crap , whoever writes this should be gone , like two year old and this story line is stupid
I hope Sharon and Nick get back together, and I really don’t understand what happened to Victoria. Is Amelia sick in real life?
Adam and Chelsea romance is not what viewers want to see. It didn’t work out the last 4 attempts and it is stale and boring making the fast forward button a necessity. Get with the program Josh. You don’t spend months and months putting together a super couple only to break them up in a hot minute (unless the actors can’t work together). Also, over the whole Sharon killed didn’t kill Heather storyline. 2025 doesn’t sound very promising.
Who did you consider to be a potential super couple I wonder lol.
Well I for one would like to see Chelsea and Adam together again. Respectfullly you can’t speak for what all viewers want to see.
She speaks for me and a ton of other viewers. Chelsea and Adam are boring and lifeless. Adam doesn’t seem that into her and she treats Adam like her son.
Whatever! To each his own.
Moreover, Chelsea and Adam are about as exciting as a bologna and American cheese sandwich made on Wonder Bread. She seems more like his motherly big sister or aunt. They have zero romantic chemistry or heat. He was good with Sally but they were never given a chance. And how many times must we see Baby Billy lash out at his big brother with yet another Baby Billy tantrum? And watching Phyllis engage in another marathon of hyperventilating and screeching is also not fun. Please make it stop.
The problem is Chelsea. The only male she has ever clicked with on the show is Nick. They had the potential to be a super couple, however, the soap is determined to do Nick/Sharon for the million time and bore us to tears.
I suspect the show keeps revisiting Nick/Sharon because it gives Phyllis who is flailing a storyline with the hint of revisiting that long played out triangle. Adam/Sally is much more interesting but the writers can’t seem to figure out what to do with Adam. Claire and Kyle would work but it needs to be a slow burn with lots of complications and regret and bad choices but the show doesn’t know how to do the big tease for the big payoff. Just don’t see Young and Restless getting better.
CBS get rid of Josh please! He is awful, wake up!
True. I thought this column was going to read,” Y& R’s Headwriter and EP Out.” Disappointed it didn’t. The writing has become tired, redundant and dull.
Wow, Victor trying to take over Jabot, how redundant. That story played out some 30 plus years ago. Can’t think up anything original, can he?
To much time is spent on one subject. Move the story along. It would alot more interesting.
The show is boring. Spending way too much time on one subject. I can watch the show once a week and not miss anything. Story line should move quicker. It would be more interesting.
If I’m critical they’re listening to certain fans when we have seen the same characters time by time but put other characters in the background that fans also love. As a fan, it’s a let-down to me when every fan should have a room on their favorites for an own story. It’s awful not to use their talents for example the children. You bring them, then I question where are they. Griffith should be replaced with a new head writer/EP so I agree with you.
Griffith fall to disappoint all of us. I’ve embraced Summer and Chance it took me awhile getting into them and fans were expecting to deepen their relationship. Now we are filled with Summer chasing after Kyle again. Honesty it’s painful to compare Skyle with Hope and Liam. It’s a version of it that we never see chemistry of them. But handing us triangles it never works. If it’s wise of Y&R they should read the feedback and reconsider not to do this. I’m new here, like to see Sharon and Nick back together again. In my opinion the Sharon storyline with the reveal Ian and Jordan isn’t good. Way to long.
Happy new year everyone.
Summer and Chance are winning. Another bond to link legacy families. Kyle and Clare do same. I too do not want B&B games. I’d like some sweeping romance and suspenseful stories in Genoa City. And maybe they could include characters new to town that aren’t related. I would welcome a new family. I would like to see more airtime for our favorite secondary characters: Lauren, Michael, Kevin, Chloe, Gloria. For all the Abbott family roundup, what happened to Jack’s grandaughter?
Iakovos, They were building Summer & Chance and Kyle & Claire very well. I like them. Beautifully well said here. I agree Jack’s granddaughter was written off out of blue. Would have love to see more of her and Noah.
Nathan Owens? Who the hell… do you mean Nathan Hastings or Damien Owens?
If you read the article, you would have read it said “actor Nathan Owens,” meaning the ACTOR whose name is Nathan Owens. There was no mistake made in the post.
Noooo. It’s time CBS realizes JG’s time is up. He continues to prop his pet Chelsea and she is beyond boring and has no chemistry with Adam. Zip. Please free Adam! And his newest pet Claire is on way too much and she too is boring. Kyle is no Romeo, more like a jerk, so major pass. Enough with spastic Phyllis in Sharon’s life: reunite Sharon and Nick for good and bring someone age-appropriate for Phyllis. Too young Billy is not it. Always throwing Phyllis in the kiddie pool is just embarrassing for her.
I agree on Phylis character, its annoying .I do not want her back with Billy and in some triangle. Not interested in another Shick reunion either. Sharon and Nick are grandparents and dull and boring. Who wants to do sunshine in the house on the ranch with those two? they have no storyline
Thrilled about Adam and Chelsea been waiting for this for some time. Just please writers let it last.
It was so nice for CBS to air Y&R from 2006 today. The show was so well written…and the music….the writers knew how to incorporate their music into a scene with no words spoken, and it was so effective! Most of those characters showcased today are still on the show, but what they utter now is so incredibly bad. I wish there was a Y&R channel somewhere on the internet where we could relive the glory days.
I laughed so hard at today’s Y&R. Tessa drank a sip of water out of her container, after Ian spiked it. Nobody thought to get that container, and maybe see if something was in the water that made Tessa ill? Later Tessa is back in the restaurant drinking what looked like water out of a glass. Where was her water bottle??? Omg. So many missteps on a daily basis. The New Years Day showed how good the show used to be.
Wow! This is crazy. Sharon and Daniel have amazing chemistry !!!
Young and restless what about changing the romantic cast in areas of putting a hold on rekindling the Nick and Sharon flame which it looks like it’s heading Get Nick into business with the Winters change his current wardrobe look a hair cut and make Lily his love interest spicy up the show abit.
Today’s episode is a joke??? Is it? LOL
I love seeing how Colleen Zenk now feels like she was pushed out at Y&R. Josh Griffith really doesn’t know how to write, does he?
I really don’t want the beautiful Lily Winters with Damian. I find him to be very shady not to mention, unattractive. He’s just a cover for Aristotle Dumas.
Lily is missing love in her life, but there is a single hot guy who is nice, available and on her level…Nick!
Nick does not want Sharon or Phyllis, and I think the pairing of Nick and Lily would be fresh and steamy. I have a feeling they would have mad chemistry. Imagine the morphing of their names as a couple? L-I-C-K !!!! 😛
Also, it would divert Victor’s laser focus on being so enraged at Kyle and Claire’s relationship. The pairing of Lily and Nick might soften Victor, because he respects his friend, Neil’s daughter.
Please Josh Griffith!! Open your eyes and put Lily and Nick together. Sometimes the best thing is right in front of you all along.

‘General Hospital’ Fall 2026 Preview: Unexpected Arrivals and Romance; Sonny and Drew at War, What Happened to Jack?

General Hospital’s co-head writers, Chris Van Etten and Elizabeth Korte have given the ABC daytime drama’s fall preview of what to look for in the months ahead in Port Charles.
According to the scribes, as told to TV Insider, “Unexpected arrivals, unexpected romance and unexpected connections,” are the order of the season, plus, “secrets are going to be exposed that will upend lives for better and worse — and new secrets will need to be kept.”
In the relationship department, don’t expect everything to go the way you may think! Let’s take a look at some of the highlights that point to some major moments in the near future on GH.

Photo: ABC
ROMEO AND JULIET
“The conflict between Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) will continue to build with potentially fatal consequences,” shared the head writers as Scout (Kayden Brenna Tokarski) and Rocco’s (Finn Carr) relationship gets more solid, the more it will be tried to be pulled apart, especially by Drew. This is what they are calling their “Romeo and Juliet” young love story.
BURYING JACK BRENNAN
Nina (Cynthia Watros) will be in the hot seat, thanks to evidence planted by Drew and Carly (Laura Wright) overhearing her threatening the MIA Jack. According to the GH head writers, “Nina may face a dark future — but perhaps not as dark a future as those who seek her downfall.” Meanwhile Ava (Maura West) and Drew’s unholy alliance will have “repercussions for years to come.” Let’s not forget they buried Jack’s body.
JASON AND BRITT MAY NOT LAST
Those who wanted Jason (Steve Burton) and Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) romance to come to an end, may get their wish! As the head scribes shared, “Decisions Britt made to stay alive while under (Ross) Cullum’s thumb will come back to haunt her and may prove too difficult for this unlikely couple to survive.”

Photo: ABC
ANNA’S BREAKING POINT AND CAN VALENTIN STAY AWAY ?
As for Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), who Jason is trying to save and who has lost her way (thanks to visions of Peter August) and being gaslighted by Cullum and company, it will, “lead to her breaking point and may lead another person to an early grave.” On that note, Carly and Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) relationship is tested after his attempt to buy back Spoon Island. Only problem is someone else got their first, and it may be hard for Valentin to deny his feelings for Anna aren’t greater than he thinks.

BROOK LYNN’S LIFE AS SHE KNOWS IT BLOWS UP IN HER FACE
The writers added, “Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) face a turning point. Her secret may finally unravel their marriage; worse, it may leave the family vulnerable when someone comes calling with a claim on Phoebe.” Will Chase now hop between the sheets with his ex Willow? And, will Hudson (Troy Lennon Appel) stake his claim to be the father of the little Phoebe? How can Brook Lynn’s life as she knows it survive this?
TRINA’S STALKER … WHO IS IT?
Does Trina (Tabyana Ali) have a stalker … or a true number one genuine fan? Whatever the case, something ominous is going to happen to Kai (Jen Austin Astrup), when the GH writers shared, “Kai is true blue and will step up to defend Trina— but his closeness to Trina may prove detrimental to his health.” In addition, the stalker situation pairs up Emma (Braedyn Bruner) and Trina to try get to the bottom of who is behind it, but in doing so, may have put a target on Emma’s back.

‘BLOODY’ SITUATION WHERE JOSSLYN IS CONCERNED
Josslyn Eden McCoy) gets new orders from the WSB after Brennan goes missing, and things may get “bloody” report the writers. They add, “Joss has her sights set on Sonny — but she’s a target, too. JJE is a big prize, and she isn’t the only one entitled to it.” Who else could be?

Photo: ABC
PAST ROMANCE FOR ALEXIS COMES BACK AROUND
Could Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Ric (Rick Hearst) find themselves in each other’s arms? According to the GH head writers, “A past romance will rear its head in a surprising way,” for Alexis. Who else could it be if not Ric, who may feel jilted by Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) if she and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) get any closer? Might it be the return of Jerry Jacks?
MICHAEL AND JORDAN BECOME CLOSE
Michael (Rory Gibson) and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) will develop a “special bond” while working together at Aurora and while Curtis (Donnell Turner) is away in prison. However, “a face from Jordan’s past will complicate her future. We’ll start to learn more about the woman Jordan was before she ever joined the DEA and came to Port Charles.” Is this William Baines (Alimi Ballard) or someone else yet to arrive? Stay tuned.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Promo: Women on the Edge

General Hospital has released their official video teaser for all-new episodes starting today on September 8 through September 11. In it, several women in Port Charles have reached their breaking point. Who will do or say something they cannot come back from? Let’s take a look!
First, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) in tears and who is wracked with guilt, might be forced to admit her cover-up in driving a car after having a bit to drink to get to her son Gio (Giovanni Mazza) and Trina’s (Tabyana Ali) performance. Brook Lynn believes she was the driver of the other car involved in Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Curtis’ (Donnell Turner) car accident.
In the Quartermaine living room, Trina confronts her with, “Were you the driver who kept going and left them there to die?” What will BLQ say? And, is the moment that Chase (Josh Swickard) is so fed up with his wife, he hightails it to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen)? Stay tuned.

SIX FEET UNDER
Then, with Jack out of the picture (and buried six feet under), Drew (Cameron Mathison) feels vindicated and that he holds all the cards and confronts his now ex-wife for shooting him in the back. Willow blurts out with indignation, “Prove it!” Will this be Willow’s ultimate downfall or Drew’s?
Next, WSB agent Baines (Alimi Ballard) is on the case of Brennan’s disappearance and confronts Carly (Laura Wright) and says, “When was the last time you saw Jack Brennan?”
Will she flip the situation and throw shade at Nina (Cynthia Watros) and tell Baines she heard and saw Nina threatening to kill Jack? We already know Drew is setting Nina to take the fall for Jack’s murder, too!
INTO THE WOODS
Finally, Jason (Steve Burton) has located Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Anna (Finola Hughes) in the woods. He asks Anna to stop, just as it appears she is going to pull the trigger and end the life of Dr. Britt Westbourne.
Shots are fired after Anna says, “This has to end tonight!” Do you think anyone was on the receiving end of a bullet, or did Jason save the day?
Check out the official GH promo for this week entitled “The Fallout Continues” below and our previously reported additional spoilers for the action in Port Charles here.

GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: Trina Demands Answers from Brook Lynn, Scout Questions Rocco, and Can Anna Pull the Trigger on Britt?

This week on General Hospital, the week kicks-off on Labor Day with a rebroadcast of the special episode dedicated to Anthony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer). The eight-time Daytime Emmy winning star passed away in December of 2025 and come February 2026, GH crafted a tribute in his honor with the story centering on Luke’s daughter, Lulu (Alexa Havins) mourning the loss of her father.
Then, all-new episodes begin on Tuesday, September 8 and in the video teaser for it, Trina (Tabyana Ali) continues confronting Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) at the Quartermaines, demanding to know if BLQ was behind the wheel of the other car that “caused” the accident that injured Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and her father Curtis (Donnell Turner), who is now spending jail time after being found guilty of assaulting Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) believing he was the other driver who caused the accident.
Scout (Kayden Brenna Tokarksi) questions Rocco (Finn Carr), if their first kiss together was “OK?” What will be his answer? Meanwhile, Isaiah continues to question Ava (Maura West), wanting to know where she has been in the last 24 hours that she would have had a very dangerous tick stuck in her scalp? What will she say to get out of the fact that along with Drew (Cameron Mathison), she was burying Jack Brennan’s body in the woods.

Photo: ABC
Then, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is seen talking with Sonny (Maurice Benard), where she says, “It’s time to change tactics!” Most likely, she is talking about dealing with Drew’s threats. Meanwhile, Drew is on the warpath and Ava tries to talk him down by saying, “Don’t you think calling the sheriff is a little extreme?” Why does Drew want to call the sheriff?
Finally, in the pick up from last Friday’s cliffhanger where Anna (Finola Hughes) pulled a gun on Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) in the middle of nowhere, Anna says, “I’m not going to let you stop me!” Who is she talking to? Is it Jason (Steve Burton) who found out Britt’s location … or Britt herself? Stay tuned.
