Y&R Preview: Matt Clark Asks Phyllis on a Date, Would You Be Down for the Pairing? Roger Howarth & Michelle Previously in GH’s Franco/Nina Romance

The Young and the Restless seems to be toying with a potential romance between amnesiac Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Now, on all-new episodes of the top-rated soap opera, the official Y&R Preview for the week of June 22-26, shows a moment where Matt attempts to ask Phyllis out on a date!
The two are sitting at the GCAC having drinks. Suddenly, Matt says. “Once upon a time, there was a man who had no memory. And he met a woman. And then he asks her out on a date.” Phyllis looks at first confused, but then inquisitive? Would Phyllis even dare go out with Matt given what he has done to the former love of her life and father to her daughter, Summer, the one and only Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow)?
If Y&R head writer, Josh Griffith does plan to go there, does Phyllis somehow fall in love with this guy, because she did see him come to the rescue of Nick when he OD’d? But, would Phyllis date Sharon’s (Sharon Case) rapist?

GENERAL HOSPITAL’S FRANCO AND NINA
This isn’t the first time that Daytime Emmy winners, Roger Howarth and Michelle Stafford have appeared on a soap as a romantic pairing? Look no further than then January of 2016 when both appeared on ABC’s General Hospital, when after months of dancing around their sexual tension, Franco Baldwin and Nina Reeves had sex. The two characters had quite the unstable past which drew them together.
After the sex scene aired on GH, and the series moved the relationship between the duo (known on social media as #nico) forward, Michelle Stafford spoke to Michael Fairman TV where she shared on working with Howarth.
At that time, Stafford expressed, “What woman doesn’t want to see Roger Howarth on-screen? He’s super sexy, and that is just that! (Laughs) With Roger, I am going to get a really great actor to work with, who likes to play, and really can act. I appreciate that about him. I am just really interested to see what the writers are ultimately going to do with these two characters.”
When addressing, why it took so long for Franco and Nina to hit the sheets, Stafford acknowledged, “You have to address it, because the audience is going to go, ‘Why are these two hot characters not ‘doing’ it’ These are two adults. It doesn’t make sense. They are so in love, and they are not consummating anything. So, when they made Nina so insecure about it, and being able to communicate to Franco how she felt, I thought, ‘OK, this works.’ She was scared, and that’s true. We are all scared when we sleep with someone we love for the first time. There is not one person who does not feel that way. I loved that about her. The woman in the audience really responded to that. They loved that there was a character who was afraid to hop in bed. It was refreshing to them, and that was the consensus.”
Y&R’s MATT AND PHYLLIS STAND A GHOST OF A CHANCE AT ROMANCE?
Take a look at the Y&R video preview for next week below.
Then weigh-in; do you want Matt and Phyllis to date and begin some semblance of a romantic relationship? Did you enjoy Roger Howarth and Michelle Stafford when they were paired as Franco and Nina on General Hospital? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
Someone has to be kidding, right? I don’t think that Roger Howarth’s character is the only one in Genoa City with amnesia. Glad I no longer waste my time on this nonsense. Griffith is still killing this once great show.
He learns nothing GH twisted theirselves in Knots to keep RH on. If you wanted him so badly why write him in as a character that we saw die on screen and is that all he can do is play a rapist. Nick makes me vomit he raped the mother of your children and I know your father does not care but you should.
They made both Baldwin men good guys it’s nothing new but I’m in this climate of what is going on just tired of it . You could have brought Roger on to the show as anybody but why a rapist he has been one on OLTL and GH now Y&R. Trying to figure out our country and I discovered I can’t stand politicians or actors . Let us have some peace let us talk to our maker and leave us alone . We pray every nite that our country will find peace . God is patient he has been with me hope he sweeps in and answers our prayers start living each orher
In other words she gets to see him every day the man who raped her twice like I said if you wanted the actor you should have made him another character
Let’s hope ABC gets Roger back soon
That’s not likely. Three strikes, he’s out.
In retrospect, the smart move would have been to make him “Austin” the first time around. OLTL characters never belonged on General Hospital, and literally NOBODY asked for a Franco recast, much less a neutering of the character, attempting to whitewash a serial killer terrorist with a “brain tumor” and some “magic DVDs”. “Frodd Baldwin the family man & child art therapist” was NEVER going to be a viable character
A doctor with ties to the Quartermaine family would have been a viable character in 2012. Might have even been one when they finally went that route, except then they threw him under the bus with that whole “Pawtuck Mafia” stupidity, which was made even dumber with the Skinhead Mason cousin, and the fact that they talked about a female relative being their boss for months, until one day Cyrus the Virus was running the show and the unnamed woman was never mentioned again.
You really think a 4th character would be the answer?
To play what – a 4th character? ABC told Frank that he could not bring back Todd.
No. I still hold a tiny bit of hope for OLTL v3, and would like him to play Todd Manning again.
We have judges politicians who seem to have no problem putting people back out on the street that have done horrible crimes you need to snap out of it I now pack a gun yes I’m legal because I’m frightened and we should not live in a country that we are scared to walk out of our home.
I hate the Matt and Phyllis pairing. It’s so ick. Please end his story arc and put him in jail. I can’t stand when he is on the canvas. His core is evil and he does not deserve to be a permanent resident of Genoa City. Please put him in jail and end his storyline.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL Preview: Katie Wants Dylan to Sway Zende, Carter Puts Unrelenting Pressure on Steffy

Next week on The Bold and the Beautiful, official spoilers and the video teaser for episodes airing September 28 through October 2, have Katie (Heather Tom) making it clear she wants Dylan (Sydney Bullock) to prove herself to her by helping lure Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz) over to her fashion house Logan.

In the video preview, Katie informs Hope (Annika Noelle), “Dylan has been tasked with talking to Zende, and if she wants any kind of acceptance from me, she’d better come through.” Is Hope getting leery of Katie’s machinations, or would she like to see Zende get a chance at showcasing his talents, something he had not been able to do of late at Forrester? If Dylan comes through for Katie, will she accept her son, Will’s (Crew Morrow) relationship with the young woman? Stay tuned.

What Ridge and Brooke don’t know is that Steffy is already pregnant from her drunken night with Carter, and through Carter’s unrelenting pressure, he wants her to give up the baby she is carrying and give it to Daphne and him to raise as their own.

Ava (Maura West) meets with Willow at the Metro Court Gardens and informs her, “If Nina is being framed. I may know by whom.” Would Ava risk the ire of Drew (Cameron Mathison), if she throw’s him under the bus and admits he planted Jack’s wallet in Nina’s car, or is she about to accuse someone else to protect him?
Meanwhile, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Justine’s (Nazneen Contractor) romance is about to become public, or at least fall into the wrong hands! The two are being spied on while making out in a dark location thinking they are alone. Next, Ava’s voice is heard saying, He had to go down!” Is she talking about Sonny who she had teamed with Drew to take down? Cut to Sonny telling Ric (Rick Hearst) “Let ’em try.”
Finally, the action turns to Pentonville, where Curtis (Donnell Turner) is in a dangerous situation, when outside his cell, another inmate suggests to him, “Find a reason not to be in your cell after lunch.” Later, that man and two others, enter the cell as Sidwell (Carlo Rota) just reads a book, as he looks concerned as the men encircle him.
