Y&R’s Trevor St. John Talks Why He’s Reluctant to Do Interviews, His Sister’s Passing and Latest Film with Maurice Benard on ‘State of Mind’
It’s rare, very rare, that Trevor St. John (Tucker, Y&R ex-Todd/Victor Jr.) sits down for an interview. So, what a fantastic surprise it was to see that St. John agreed to appear as a guest on Maurice Benard’s mental health series, State of Mind.
During his visit, of course, St. John chatted about the art of acting with Benard, but there was also so much more. Right off the bat, Trevor addressed his discomfort with most interview formats, and sitting down with Benard for this one.
St. John revealed, “To be honest with you, I’m really frightened. I have a fear of public speaking. Normally, I avoid these things, even print. I kind of avoid it, because of this fear. I’m sure you can understand that the command you give yourself to be, ‘interesting …I’m being interviewed, be interesting’, and so what happens is my mind rejects any direct command I give it. So, I always feel I’m monosyllabic, and ineloquent, can’t formulate my thoughts.” However, Trevor certainly got over this hurdle and opened up to Maurice about a myriad of subjects.
When Benard asked how his run ended on One Life to Live, while St. John wouldn’t address that directly, he did share, “I really appreciated what I gained, which is some friends that I have today: Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL, now Finn, GH), Dan Gauthier (ex-Kevin, OLTL), Kamar de Los Reyes (ex-Antonio, OLTL). I still keep in touch with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr, OLTL).”

Trevor added about his time as Llanview’s Todd Manning/Victor Lord Jr: “I was always appreciative, and always felt fortunate that I had that gig. There were hundreds of guys that would have taken it up just like that.”

Now, coming to The Young and the Restless as Tucker McCall, St. John shared: “It’s been a terrific job,” plus he shared how he heard that it was a great set to work at it, and that it did not disappoint when he actually arrived in Genoa City.

When the talk turned to Trevor’s 2022 film, A Good Enough Day, Benard shared how he was blown away by the film while holding back tears. Not only did St. John star in it, but he also wrote and directed it. The story centers around a man’s battle with grief, something St. John knows all too well. On State of Mind, Trevor shared how he tragically lost his sister, Laura when she was just 15-years-old in a car accident. It is his sister who Trevor views as his ‘guardian angel.”
Check out Maurice and Trevor’s intriguing chat below.

It was an interesting interview.
Thank you both for doing it.
I love Trevor St John!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is such a genuine human being and a superb actor. Thank you for this wonderful interview. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for “A Good Enough Day.”
I love Trevor too! He is awesome! He is smart, funny, onory, sexy, the man has a lot of good qualities.
He’s funny, he’s sexy, he’s versatile… and he is a great remedy to Diane the Downer and the permanently perplexed Jack. I actually prefer him to the two previousTuckers, though they were good, too.
I love Jack and Diane I am
So
Happy that Josh brought Trevor to us
When OLTL was. Canceled I wrote several letters to Y& R asking for them
To bring him And they finally did I wish they would bring Kristen Alderson on
Love Trevor St. John! Loved him on One Life to Live and had the pleasure of meeting him at a meet and greet after the show was tragically cancelled- I was mesmerized! Loved the interview and can’t wait to see his new film.
How are you still upright after meeting him, LOL ?
Loved the interview but Trevor is so good Im so glad he’s on y and r he makes me laugh even without saying anything. He is such a good actor. I wish I had watched him on oltl.
I love this man & the brilliant job on Y&R. He brings something refreshing that this show has been needing. On a personal note I understand all to well about the journey of sorrow. I have lost everyone including my husband & my only sister. Sorrow is a personal journey that is often our greatest teacher. We learn from the dance but the step is never the same. We move forward bc life tells us too & so we do. I wish him many blessings along the way & balance.
Well said ….
I was thoroughly enthralled with this interview with TSJ. The privacy of his life and family is one of the things I like about him. He’s a true good man, and his family comes first.
Maurice was able to show every emotion from TSJ and his vulnerability came through very believable.
Extremely talented in many areas, genres, and it’s refreshing as hell to watch him !
Keep up the great work and enjoy your life Trevor !
Quite simply he is the best actor on Y&R. His expressions, movements, timing, perfect !
Trevor was 15 when his sister died. His sister was in college.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
