The Young and the Restless: What Do You Think Of Hands Newman?

On Monday’s episode of The Young and the Restless, Hands Newman (as many a Y&R fan has now dubbed the visual) made a few more appearances as Billy (Burgess Jenkins) and Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) made out only to be interrupted by Hands henchmen who got into the penthouse … and then went to work inside Connor’s nursery to do Hands bidding!
Later “the hands” that we are led to believe is really the MIA Adam Newman, touches the screen as he watches his wife Chelsea … or as we have often seen, clenching his fist when he sees her with arch-enemy Billy!
While viewers await who will be the next actor that will portray Adam (last played by Michael Muhney) and who the hands will eventually be attached to … “the hands” seems to be the way that Y&R is keeping the character in story for now.
So what do you think of the plot device of having Adam be in the story watching his wife and her sexcapades with Billy from afar? Is it stalker-esque? Creepy? Or, do you think it’s justifiable? Weigh-in!
Enough of those angry hands already. it’s crazy. i never understood why they had Adam all of a sudden like Chelsea when he was so in love with Sharon. The entire story is ridiculous

My oppion is the Billy who searched for his daughters killer was the best billy I’ve seen on the show The recast suck bad so the recast of Adam is going to be just is bad mm was so good at playing Adam I almost cried when he was making that confession tape ….it just makes. Me so angry that that hunter chick would lie about him groping her

The Hands are a poor substitute for MM.
There’s no legal remedy available on this matter. If there was one, it would have been pursued. The fact is Eric Braeden wanted him gone, so he’s gone. End of story. Victor wins, the audience loses.
Eric Braeden hated Michael Muhney. It’s no secret. Braeden was threatened by Muhney because he actually became Victor 2.0 to the fans and they loved him. Jealousy makes people do bad things. Shame on Braeden, he’s had his run. If Y&R was to have a future, it would have been Muhney’s run. How sad for us fans.

I’ve never understood why everyone hates Chelsea so much. I’ve always liked her and, for me, she has chemistry with every guy they’ve thrown her with on that show.
I don’t want Adam back with Sharon because all the shit he did to her was unforgivable. I’d never forgive a man who took my baby away from me.
ITA with you, Chelsea rocks the screen no matter who they put her with.
As for Sharon, I think Nick is stuck with her for awhile, at least until maybe Avery’s EX arrives on the scene. lol
Im sorry but Adam is a stalker now. He can’t call his wife in secrete if he is supposed to love her. He never loved her anyway. They have zero chemistry . Chelsea had more chemistry with Dylan. Im sure Chelsea will be pregnant by the time Adam comes back with Billty kid
The character continues to be marginalized by these dreadful writers and Phleps. It’s disgraceful to see how they’ve trashed Adam. I don’t understand why they’d bring him back now. Phelps made him a child killer and twisted stalker. The character is ruined. Phelps should be fired.

As much as Billy Abbott professed to love Vicki, he’d never jump that quickly into either the bed or the relationship with Chelsea … he wouldn’t trust her enough to do so after Victor hired her to seduce him away from Victoria in the first place!

The Y&R peoples are stalling..
They fear recasting Adam that MM fans reactions will not be welcoming..
They believe the longer time goes the by the better chance MM fans will have calmed down and will accept the new adam; won’t work..
Adam can not be replaced… It would be best just to let the character RIP ..
So far there have been 2 awful Billy’s (not replaceable) and with Adam it will be worse..
They can stall by showing a hand with hopes all will be accepted after this long amount of time..
I doubt they can even find an actor that would want to face the wrath of MM’s fans by stepping into his character/Adam shoes .
CBS/Y&R is going to make a very big mistake as they made with recasting Billy..

They could show him getting a manicure,,,having his hands massaged..then when he sees something he doesn’t like he can yank his hands away and show manicurist hands flying up in fear..then patting his hands and calming hands down and going back to the manicure…then they could show massage hands giving hands a pedicure…and when he sees something he doesn’t like hands now snatches his feet away until massage hands pats his feet and calms him down..or they could show the back of hands and feet while he’s getting a touch up from manicure/pedicure/barber hands…see something hands/feet doesn’t like he snatches his head away…OH THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!!

The hand has taken a life of it’s own. Now when I see it I laugh and say” Jill you are not fit to be running y*r . It’s July still no Adam? They recast billy twice in 6 months !! Still no Adam . Michael muhney is the best Adam send always will be #1. It’s sad that JFP has gotten rid of 3 crucial and best actors/ characters and expect us to just get used to it. The show is not the same anymore. Sick of handy man who’s his faced any face at this point would b nice to get it over with!! MM or not.. Preferably. Please pair someone with Kevin.. With Chloe gone… It’s weird. The show turned upside down after they killed off dee dee. Never should have been done.

I look at it like this…more and more, I am finding this ‘Hands Newman’ plot twist WAY MORE INTERESTING than that DUMB AS HELL Music Box Mystery (or whatever)!!!!!

Its been way too long for this “hands” story. YR needs to resign Michael Muhney, the only actor that can play Adam Newman. They’ve had so man misses with the new and new/new Billy, new Kelly, soon-to-be-new Phyllis – way too many cast changes. We need some consistency and some good storylines on this show. Maybe its time to make a change at the top! Please bring YR back to the show we all loved. Right now it is a mere shell of its great self.

The hands are a completely annoying plot device. It would be one thing if a new Adam were in place but months and months is ridiculous. Bring him home to his family.
The only redeeming quality is that the last 2 appearances have made it very clear that Chelsea is as big a priority as Connor and it hopefully we’ll start to see more than just lurking.

Obviously, Adam was horribly disfigured from the car explosion..so he required plastic surgery. He’s healing….and when he is fully recovered, he will come back to GC and no one will know it’s him….until he’s ready to reveal who he really is.

If and when a nuAdam shows up, the backlash and shit storm will be fierce. People are just waiting to pounce on this show and Phelps. She broke it, now she’ll get to pay the price and it will be steep.
you guys are crazy…Chelsea is one of the best things about Y&R anymore. ugh…with all the horrible acting (Devon, Lily, Cane, Collin, and Abby)….at least when the episode features Kelly, Jack, Chelsea, Sharon, and Mariah…it’s fun to watch. i even like Niki and Ian and Victor…too bad Lily and Cane’s plane back from Paris didn’t crash into the ocean!!!

I agree, I LOVE Chelsea. And she is way better than whichever faux-Billy they put on the screen than Victoria is. Once they changed the actor playing Billy, I stopped rooting for Villy. The chemistry wasn’t there! I think the Kelly character is a good addition, but I do NOT like Cady McClain playing her. And I have always LOVED Cady, just not in this role. I miss Cynthia Watros! Lily and Cane? Ugh! She comes on the screen and I FF.

If Billy truly loved Victoria, he would NEVER sleep with Chelsea after the fallout that happened after he slept with Kelly. Maybe JFP’s soap playbook says the quickest way to get the audience to accept someone new in a role is to ruin the character, that way the fans won’t care who plays the part! It’s definitely Adam hiding out. When the penthouse door opened, I thought it would’ve been Michael Muhney’s return, but it wasn’t. I’m just wanting Adam to return and re-claim the life he rightfully deserves.
I’m not convinced MM isn’t coming back.
Don’t be surprised if MM shows up — “Surprise!” — on camera soon. It’s the only way I see for JFP to pull her ash out of the fire! Sadly if MM does show up, JFP may be cemented in at Y&R for a long, long time. Not that she’s going anywhere anytime soon. If JFP reached a deal with MM, keeping it top secret could be huge for a reveal, wowing fans and bringing the ratings. I’m not a huge MM fan, but what a coup that would be for JFP.

Michael Muhney is working on a movie now and has been in negotiations on other projects. I can’t imagine him returning to Y&R now. I think he’s moved on. Can’t blame him one bit.
I can’t see Michael Muhney ever wanting to work on Y&R again. Phelps and Braeden trashed him professionally and personally. They have shown their true selves and it ain’t pretty. Thomas-Scott, St. John, Davidson, Rikaart, and LeBlanc are just as guilty. What a despicable group of people. Who would ever want to work in a shared environment with these creeps?

News Flash you will be seeing a lot more of “The Claw” CBS says it will be 3 to 6 months before casting it has also been rumored that they have hired an outside firm to cast Adam. So my question to the folks over at Y&R is: How is that mud slinging all out attack on one actor working out for you?

Y&R has moved on from all Adam anything (hand not included) and Y&R would do 100% better if they did not recast Adam and simply let the character RIP..
Whomever will play Adam best have a very thick armour and Y&R will be opening a can of trouble by recasting Adam..

I am an agent in England. A casting call came out last week for sexy, charming etc actor in mid 30’s for contract role on Y&R named Aaron. They’re still looking and can’t find him anywhere.
Unless they are Michael Muhney’s hands, forget it! You see the outrage that continues with Billy Miller. Same with Michael. NO ONE can play Adam Newman other than Michael. I know that sounds close minded BUT Michael was so damn good and remember, just like with the last two Billys, what were seeing is not only our the fans having trouble with the recasts, the actors are, as well. Billy doesnt click with Jack or Victoria. NuAdam with have to click with Victor, Billy, Chelsea, Nick, oh and a new Phyllis. This is going to be a disaster! I agree. Any recast of Michael Muhney will be a disaster that will make the recasts of Billy Miller a blip. The backlash against Y&R and JFP is in concrete now. It’s not going away. Those cast members that attacked him have ruptured their relationship with a significant group of fans. I can’t see MM ever going back to Y&R, even though he loved playing Adam Newman. He made Adam the force that the character became. Too bad for Y&R and its fans.

I for one like the new Billy Abbott. I didn’t care for Tom in the role because he looked too young to be Victoria’s husband.
But the thing is: Billy Abbott was ALWAYS younger than Victoria. He was a part of the teen set when Vickie was grown and married, so he has been aged via the nuBilly (BJ). Most long-time viewers know that Billy was much younger than Victoria; I’m not sure how long you’ve been watching. BTW I never felt David Tom looked too young to be with Victoria. IMO AH is aging very gracefully. I may be in the minority, but I also thought he and Victoria looked fine together. It is so odd seeing scenes with Jack and Billy now because I feel Jack may actually look younger than Billy, although I have heard many say they now look like twins! I don’t know about that, but I am not a fan of the recasts of Billy or Kelly. The characters just became different people for me as soon as they were recast.
When Billy Abbott was born in 1993 Victoria was losing her baby with Cole Howard. Victoria was married to Ryan, Cole, Brad & JT. She was also engaged at one time to Neil. The character of Victoria slept with Deacon, Brad & Cole who her Mom also slept with. She also fought Ashley for Cole & Brad also fought Nina for Ryan & Cole. So everyone who goes rabid over her & Billy/played by Billy Miller need to get a grip the casting of Billy should not be decided by AH’s version of Billy. The actress needs to get a handle on her character her crutch Billy Miller is gone. In other words JFP has tried so hard to handle the whims of AH & rabid Billy Miller fans. So this is what you got a 40 year old who looks it playing Billy Abbott.
Just for the record I like Billy Miller but he wanted to move on and do other things so now he has a chance. Go for it! Why would anybody want this current storyline he is in. Who’s the Daddy again. I also want MM to be hugely successful and never ever come back to this train wreck again.
Victoria was born in the early 80’s and Billy was born in the early/mid-90’s. It was a creepy pairing anyway, because we longtime viewers know that the original adult version of Billy and the original adult version of Victoria are real-life siblings.
Thanks all for filling me in on Victoria’s age and some of her past. I am a relative newbie to Y & R, so when I say something stupid that goes against canon, please bear with me.
Things change. Michael Muhney is gone and Adam is a character Y&R wants tokeep. I hope this near-death experience will shake him up. I sense some history will be lost to us. Maybe he is over Sharon for good, as it seems Nick/Sharon is the endgame now. I would like to see Adam on a path of redemption as opposed to revenge.
Adam has never been a compelling character for me. They ruined him with the whole haunting of Ashley and the baby Faith switch. I could understand angry and resentful but not evil or creepy. I would not be sad to see him go for good. but that is not going to happen.
We want Adam Newman back, ALL of HIM! He needs to come back to his family ASAP. They need and want him so badly. I hate this Billy having his hands all over Chelsea and stepping into Adam’s turf when he killed him!
For a hot minute there, I thought I was the ONLY one who felt that way! I am disgusted that the writers are taking Bill(y) Abbott Senior in this direction. I was rooting for Billy to get Victoria back, eventually, but not anymore. They ruined Villy for me, and I wasn’t even a huge fan of the couple. But Billy sleeping with Chelsea after what went down with him and Adam, claiming he still loves Victoria and wants her back. Gag me!
I’m reading comments that a recast won’t be accepted. But, from what I understand, the die-hard MM fans quit watching the show 6 months ago. So, maybe those that are still watching will be willing to give a recast a chance.
It sounds like MM is getting back to work and I’m happy for him…but I’m also willing to given another actor, who had nothing to do with MM’s departure, a fair shot to play to the role of Adam.
The adam character should not be recat..
He is no longer needed.. Y&R and cast have moved on with no Adam on screen and Adam should be let to RIP..

I think many fans, not just MM fans, are wary of recasts because recent recasts have been so BAD. Kelly recast is so far OFF, she could really be Paul’s sister Patti with a new identity! I know I am afraid to see who will replace Hands. After seeing the aging of Billy Abbott (who was a teen, just like JT was, when Victoria was a married woman), I am afraid JFP will think this is a great time for Eric Braeden to take on a dual role as Victor Newman and his son (to be forever known as Adam NuMan!) I jest, but seriously … enough with the bad recsts Y&R!

I do see your point about the current regime not having a great casting track record and I agree….with the exception of Gina T. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather see attempt to take on the Phyllis role and am looking forward to it.

Y&R is empty, simply empty of all it once was..
I for one would prefer they take their sweet time and find a recast that will work in the role. I know, I know, there are many that say only MM can play the role, but considering he too was a recast, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility to find a suitable actor. But if the person they pick bombs and they have to recast again– that might be the last nail in the coffin for this show. So take your time, show Hands every now and there just to remind viewers Adam is still out there– it they can keep Phyllis in a coma for over a year, Hands can be in background for a bit longer.
Good writing and casting go hand in hand! Y&R don’t have a prayer. There will be a huge revolt!!! They could make an impression by having Adam ride in on a horse…I don’t know how many hands high.
But look how Michael Muhney, even though he was a recast, took that part and made it his own. Muhney IS Adam Newman, as far as most fans are concerned. He took a character that was vilified and reviled and turned him around, made him a beloved character, one that, by the time we found out he was fired, was so loved that people flew planes with banners declaring the fan-love for him to CBS, and standing behind him during all the backlash of a never-supported-or-proved allegation against him. He showed that he could even take poor writing and make it good. My hand’s up to him for being that great an actor!

I maybe wrong but I truly belive that Micheal Munhny will return as Adam Newman it is being said via online news that he is either filming a movie and or getting ready to start filming I have not look into this as of yet via internet but if this is true it woukd also be why we are seeing Hands Newman for now, because MM is filming a movie and they at CBS/Y&R figure out a way to keep Adam in to the pic until MM is free to return, so Hands Newman is the new Adam for now. And one woukd hope this is all true ever since JFP took over their are a lot of things that have started to go off base at our belove Y&R as she did with AW, GL, OLTL , GH, she is a master at messing up our soaps to a certain degree don’t get me wrong some things she has done on all those soaps have not been all that bad but some good and others stuff has been so awful and so wrong. I think they realize firing MM and BM was the worst thing they could do and they are trying to make the two wrongs they did a right again except BM decline a return as Billy Abbot and so they may have I say went back to MM and ask him to return maybe under certain conditions one go and apologies again to all who he made made and difficult to work with by going to a sexual harrasment class for what so say him groping Hunter King and the other going to anger management class for getting up in some of the other cast members faces such as Eric Braden who plays Victor Newman . So with what I just stated could be true or not time will tell soon enough if MM will return to y&r.
I also thought MM might be returning once he finishes filming. Time will tell.
Michael Muhney’s wrapped his film, but I’d be totally shocked to see him on Y&R ever again. His feud with Eric Braeden is now legendary. I can’t imagine them sharing the same scenes together ever again after Braeden stabbed him in the back with that character assassination online interview. Braeden is true low life.

Miller wanted to go outside work to help improve his acting skills, but he stated in several interviews, including one with SOD and CBS-SID, that he never wanted to leave Y&R, because it was the best job he’d ever had, but TPTB wouldn’t negotiate him having outs to do other jobs. What’s really funny is that, if you check, numerous others from the show DO have outs, including Ignacio Serracchio, Max Ehrich, Jessica Collins and Steve Burton to name a few off the top of my head. Serracchio has been on Bones most of the season and is now on Witches of East End; Max Ehrich is on The Dome and both Jessica Collins and Steve Burton have been okay’d to do movies and such. Burton even had it in his contract that JFP & CBS would back a movie he and James Franco had in the works if he came to Y&R, although he’s backtracking now & denying he said that. Elizabeth Hendrickson also wanted outs, but when she, too, was denied them, she left the show as well. If you don’t keep the stars happy, they leave. Why give to some when you don’t to others? BTW, I think when Miller wasn’t given his outs, Muhney had something to say about that, and that was why he was really fired, not because of anything else…

Maybe MM is working on the films his father-in-law, Larry Garrison, is working on. Larry Garrison is in development on a film and book entitled “Son of the Oklahoma Bomber,” dealing with Josh Nichols father’s actions in the Oklahoma Bombing.” Larry is also developing a feature film on General Thomas P. Stafford, who was the commander of the Moon landing, and is a true American hero. If Michael Muhney could work on either of these, that would be amazing. His father-in-law write a LOT of books! Very interesting man.

Mathison is a horrible actor. His performances on AMC were a joke. He’d be a total disaster as Adam Newman. Mathison isn’t in Michael Muhney’s league as an actor.

If any of the these actors people have mentioned were available and wanted to do it and were deemed right for the part I suspect the role would have been cast by now. The fact they said Adam would return in six months after firing MM and Adam hasn’t materialized means they must be having a harder time casting Adam the role then they thought.
They really only have one shot at this– if they don’t find someone epic everyone involved with getting rid of MM job is on the line. There is no room for error and that puts a ton of pressure on those making the choice — even if they might think someone under normal circumstances would do, the way the whole MM thing went down and the fallout means the choice has to super extraordinary so they can say, see we told you everyone is replaceable.
But if the new guy fails to win over the fans—it might be last straw for a lot viewers. I honestly have no pity for JFP because she put herself and the show in this position because no matter what really went down behind the scenes it could have been worked out behind closed doors and this whole mess could have be avoided.
Brash is too small to play Adam. Not tall enough.
Phelp’s decision to fire Michael Muhney has haunted this show ever since news broke last December. Y&R has suffered on so many levels that it will never really be free of this whole debacle. Of course, Phelps was behind it all as usual, but I think this one blew up in her face. She has to be the most hated woman in all of soaps now. People only defend her out of fear or ignorance. She’s wrecked Y&R. It’s just terrible now. The whole hands situation is laughable. They should have left Adam Newman dead. Once again, Phelps’ arrogance will be her downfall.
We all know, “hands down,” that this hands bit is a ploy by TPTB to keep the idea of Adam alive in the minds of viewers, yet try to prepare them for the inevitable fact that, when he finally does show his face, it won’t be Michael Muhney (unless something miraculous happens in the meantime).
Considering how quickly the show is getting rid of or changing the storylines of popular male characters so only Steve Burton’s Dylan is a “heroic” figure, you’d think the show was full of jerks and creeps. I don’t think the writers and TPTB seem to realize that fans will always love certain actors and favor certain newbies over JFP’s “golden boy,” who doesn’t really have that big a following.
Knowing that Michael Muhney was massively popular, even with having him a villain and then his firing and the mess afterward where his career and reputation were smeared, they thought fans would turn to Burton instead. Nope. When Sean Carrigan came in as Stitch, fans turned to him as the newest heartthrob, and you can see TPTB don’t really like that, as they are writing him as a murderer now. Hopefully he, like Muhney’s Adam, will be redeemable, as fans love them some Stitch, again, moreso than they love Dullun … Dylan.
When the writers and TPTB learn they should be pleasing the fans, not themselves, things will be much better for all of us again. Bringing back Shemar Moore, even for two episodes, is a good start…but it’s only a start….now let’s find a way to bring back Muhney and Miller and make it ALL better again….(then maybe we’ll give ’em a hand at Y&R…)

Sadly, neither Billy Miller or Michael Muhney will return to Y&R as long as Jill Farren Phelps is Executive Producer of the show. She screwed Billy Miller in his contract negotiations, then fired Michael Muhney and smeared his name with the help of Angelica McDaniel & TMZ. This woman would run down her mother to keep power and make her boy-toy Steve Farren Burton the “star of Y&R”. She has no ethics. Anyone associated with Phelps is either a FOJ or her victim.
I’ve been reading that Billy Miller is starting on GH soon & that Michael Muhney just finished a movie and is in negotiations for some other roles. I seriously doubt either of them ever appear on Y&R again. Maybe if Phelps is gone, they might, but it would surprise me.

Of course it is because as we all know, in Genoa City, no one who dies really actually dies. This show not only defies the laws of science and physics, but flies in the face of reality and common sense. Man! It is so believable! I’m still waiting for Ducilla to appear at Neil’s door and announce, “Honey? I’m home.” Let’s see how Hillary deals with THAT!!
Of course the character wasn’t portrayed as being dumb before now, but that was when the show was scripted by competent writers. These twits will write anything now and that’s why these characters make now sense whatsoever now. The show is a mess and Hands Newman is just another example of the insanity that’s called Y&R.
Totally agree. These horrible writers have taken Y&R down so far that it has become unwatchable. Long time viewers can’t believe how bad the show is now. It’s obvious that Phelps has shoved her boy-toy Steve Farren Burton and pet Hunter “The Pouter” King front and center. They cannot carry this show….except down the toilet.
I “used” to be a loyal viewer, from many, many years ago. How many? I won’t tell but let’s just say, back when it was actually watchable, something it hasn’t been in ages. I can’t believe how it has degenerated into this hot mess of stupidity that it is now! After taking a break from it for a couple of months, I go back and it’s not only as insultingly bad as before, but WORSE. So that’s it for me. I’m tired of watching a show that causes me to swear at the TV every two minutes, and lose IQ points. I’m done. I knew that losing Bill Bell would change the show but I had no idea that it would change THIS MUCH. I also keep reading that soaps are on their way out. Just look at how many are left now. Four? Down from what? Ten or more a day? When a show is as dreadful as the Y&R is, it deserves to be cancelled. And soon. These moron writers should know that you can only feed people rubbish for so long. They obviously must think that their audience is really, really thick because otherwise, why would they still be tuning in to this junk? Watching an infomercial would probably prove to be way more entertaining. And it wouldn’t insult your intelligence the way this does. Go get em, Adumb!

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

THE FIVE LEADING LADIES OF THE SOAPS ARE …
The 2026 Lead Actress nominees are: Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera), Days of Our Lives, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), Beyond the Gates, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), The Young and the Restless, Heather Tom (Katie Logan), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Beyond the Gates.
This marks the first Daytime Emmy nominations for Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie. In addition, this marks the first-time in her career that Stacy Haiduk had received a Lead Actress nod after two Supporting Actress nominations.
Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.
Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.

DAYTIME TALK SERIES
In the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series category, the nominees are: 3rd Hour of Today, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today with Jenna and Friends and The View.
“We’re proud to honor the extraordinary talent and creative teams whose work continues to define and elevate daytime television,” NATAS president and CEO Adam Sharp said in a statement on the nominations. “As the Daytime landscape evolves and new forms of storytelling emerge, we remain committed to recognizing the innovation happening across the industry.”
The rest of the nominations will be revealed tomorrow on Tuesday July 14 starting on The View and then the full list of nominees in both the main and creative arts will be released by NATAS. The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are slated for October 30th in Hollywood, California.

‘General Hospital’ Marks Unprecedented 16,000th Episode Milestone with New Cast Photo
Today’s Monday, July 13 episode of General Hospital marks it 16,000 episode to air on the ABC television network. It is a remarkable milestone. The previous television record was held by Guiding Light which clocked in at 15,762 episodes before it went off the air on CBS in 2009.
To mark the occasion, the cast, crew and creative team of General Hospital celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony on the Prospect Studios lot in Los Angeles back on Monday, June 1, 2026.
In addition, GH has released a new cast photo taken the day of the on set celebration. Pictured in the photo are front row: Rory Gibson, Finn Carr, Kayden Brenna Tokarski, Asher Antonyzyn, Giovanni Mazza, Braedyn Bruner, Dean Geyer and Nathan Dean.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE 16,000th Episode?
The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
GENERAL HOSPITAL HOLDS SEVERAL RECORDS
Now in its 64th year, Emmy Award-winning daytime drama General Hospital is currently both the longest-running scripted American drama and the longest-running American soap opera currently in production.
General Hospital holds the record for the most Outstanding Daytime Drama award wins, taking home the prestigious Daytime Emmy Award a record 18 times. Will they do it again and make it 19 in 2026?
