Courtesy/Harper Collins

This Tuesday, July 31st, The Young and the Restless Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) will be taping a video interview with Michael Fairman at 3 PM EST/12: 00PMPST to chat about her new book, Not Young. Still Restless, which will be released that day nationwide!  While On-Air On-Soaps has plenty to talk about with Jeanne,  this is also an opportunity for you to ask Jeanne your own questions about her life, career, her new book, and of course, Y&R and Katherine Chancellor!

Here is what is going to go down:  Michael will be asking the top selected questions during the interview taping, and we will mention your name and city and state during our chat.  Later in the day, you can come back to On-Air On-Soaps and look for the video interview post and see if your question were picked and what Jeanne had to say in answering it!

There are several ways to submit your questions:  1) You can submit them in the comment field below, with just your first name and city and state and the question.   2) You can go to the Michael Fairman On-Air On-Soaps Facebook page, “Like” it, if you have not done so already,  and leave a question there for Jeanne, or  3) You can send them to our email address at info@michaelfairmansoaps.com.  Remember, we need your first name and city and state,  and make your questions a “goodie” so it gets picked!

Deadline to submit questions is Monday night July 30th 11PMPST!    We look forward to hearing from you and sharing our video interview with Jeanne with you on Tuesday!

I have several. Hopefully, at least one of them will merit being asked: 1. As a long-time viewer, I was really surprised with the storyline revealing that Kay and Jill were related. The subsequent scenes where the two worked to establish a mother/daughter relationship seemed inane to me given their bitter history. Even though the writers have “undone” their biological connection, the characters do not seem to have recovered. Jill and Kay were always at their best when they were scheming against each another, a situation that logically grew from their early years on the show. The interaction between the… Read more »

I would like to know what Jeanne has to say about the recent ousting of Maria Bell, and what she thinks about the changing of the guard at Y&R behind the scenes. Also, does she get a say in what Mrs. Chancellor wears, or is that what the costumers decide? She is always so perfectly put together!! 🙂 One more…. how much fun was it doing that cake fight with Jess Walton a few years ago? That was awesome television….. really all of the fights she’s been in with Jess are so memorable. Was it difficult doing all of that… Read more »

General Hospital and ‘H.R. Pufnstuf’s’ Billie Hayes Dead at 96

She was one-of-a-kind, and now actress Billie Hayes has passed away at the age of 96.  Hayes’ family announced her death from natural causes on April 29th at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

Hayes was best-known for her unforgettable role as Witchiepoo on the 1969-70 Saturday morning live-action children’s classic H.R. Pufnstuf from Sid and Marty Kroft.

However, daytime fans will remember that then General Hospital executive producer, Gloria Monty, hired Hayes to play the recurring role of the street-smart international spy, Brighton O’Reilly, back in the 80’s series hey day.

GH’s Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) took to Twitter to mourn the loss of Hayes on Monday sharing; “My dear wonderful Billie Hayes has died. Sadly I only got to work with her on GH but it was a magical relationship. Right away Gloria Monty saw something unique and ran with it. I cannot tell you how her passing saddens me.”

In story, Brighton O’Reilly was shot and killed by Victor Cassadine back in 1981. Billie told Soap Opera Digest back in 2003 about her time as an agent on GH, and her exit from the series: “I asked Gloria why she killed me off, and Gloria said, ‘To tell you the truth, Billie, we really hemmed and hawed at it. But I decided to do it for selfish reasons. I knew if I killed O’Reilly there’d be such an abundance of sympathy and love for Scorpio that his stock would go up. And he’s my new leading man!’ I understand why Gloria knocked me off, but I would have loved to have gone on with it because I feel it could have been developed into a fascinating character.”

Sid and Marty Kroft also took to Twitter and expressed:  “Margaret Hamilton (Wizard of Oz) once told us that Billie Hayes was “one of the best witches ever” We couldn’t agree more. Rest in Peace dear friend.”

Billie’s career spanned decades including Broadway, television, motion pictures and voice-over work. In addition, she founded the Los Angeles-based animal rescue nonprofit organization Pet Hope, a cause she had championed since adopting a puppy abandoned in the basement of Broadway’s St. James Theatre during the run of Lil’ Abner in which she was featured in the role of Mammy Yokum.

Share your remembrances of Billie Hayes and your condolences for her family and loved ones via the comment section below.
