THIS WEEK: Eileen Davidson and Beth Maitland’s Y&R 40th Anniversary Episode To Air
It’s time to celebrate the life and times of Genoa City sisters, Ashley and Traci Abbott, when this week on the Thursday, June 16th episode of The Young and the Restless, the top-rated daytime drama delivers a standalone episode in their honor.
That means, that Ashley and Traci’s longtime portrayers, Emmy winners, Eileen Davidson (Ashley) and Beth Maitland (Traci), also celebrate on-air their 40th anniversary with the iconic soap.
Davidson premiered as Ashley back on June 11, 1982, while Maitland debuted a few days later on June 17, 1982.
Back in May of 2022, the actresses were saluted by the cast and crew in a special on set private celebration for this amazing milestone.
Coming up this week, Traci and Ashley will share Abbott memories with Jack’s (Peter Bergman) granddaughter Ally (Kelsey Wang), the newest member of the extended Abbott clan, in the special anniversary episode.
From the looks of the promo for it below, there will be clips a-plenty as Ashley and Traci stroll down memory lane.
So, what has been your favorite storyline and moment of Ashley and Traci’s through the years? And … share your congrats to Eileen and Beth on a job well-done for 40 years in Genoa City via the comment section.
An anniversary tribute to the ladies is great; I look forward to it. But a regular, steady story (other than token appearances to prop up Jack’s increasingly ludicrous love life) would be even better. To accommodate this, take away Diane and/or Ashland Locke’s screen time. Please!

I hate saying this but I can see old Jack falling for Diane’s crap all over again. Some people never learn and I can also see Diane eventually finding a place for herself in Kyle and Summers new company. She’s as Wylie as Gloria, but is a little more subtle at getting what she wants, although I don’t see her putting too much over on Summer.
Oh Violet, don’t worry about saying it…It’s already happening! Kyle is long gone into Diane-Land and Jack is right on his tail. Breaking up with Phyllis is all the proof we need. Plus that cutesy luncheon! Yes it ended badly but the damage was done. Jack has always been gullible but this is becoming unforgivable. My dream scene: Phyllis swallowing her pride and approaching Victor to ally against that grinning witch Diane. There’s an unholy alliance I can get behind!
Soaphound
I agree and Victor would be fine but he’s got to leave that snooty Nicki home, she makes even Diane look good!
I totally agree – I am so tired of smug Diane and the ever so phony, Ashland! Congrats to both ladies!
Lew, am I wrong or do I DISTINCTLY remember Ashland signing a contract on Adam’s tablet when he accepted the $500 million? He agreed to an annulment, resigned fully from Newman Enterprises, and had to leave Genoa City. Why couldn’t they enforce it before Victoria got suckered back in? Or did she? I’m still not certain.
Soaphound
I know you asked Lew but I’m butting in because I’ve been wondering the same thing. What good was that agreement if they can’t enforce it. Also, I can’t believe that at any moment Vicki wont say to Ashland “gotcha” she is too smart to be going along with all this. I want to believe she’s dumping him but in her own way and time.
I think Diane and Ashland are the most interesting characters on the show. Love the characters of Traci and Ashley too, but have always understood that their portrayers aren’t interested in working full-time.
Out of all of the soap girls I would like to have a cup of tea with Traci/ Beth Maitland rates my # one. Especially compared to other loud mouth, entitled, divas from other soaps I won’t list. And of all the new actors coming on board lately I really like Ally/Kelsey. By the way actor or actress?
Another exciting milestone anniversary and another coffee shop chat/ society dinner!
Can Josh not come up with an actual story to commerate an actor/ characters big event.?! Michael, Esther and now Ash and Tracey just hanging out with little to no reason to chat about their historys. Yes I love and appreciate the flashbacks but all Josh knows is scripting hanging around and chatting. Maybe Ash could ve showed Ally the old chem lab which used to be her stomping ground since Ally wants to be a chemist. Or Traci could visit Colleens grave and take Ally to learn about her cousin.
Supposedly, Ashley had spent over an hour at the lab, although true, that they didn’t show it onscreen .
I was a preteen and remember when both first came on. Terry Lester was Jack too.
Well I will try the second time! Lester started 1980
Then they built a family around him because the character was so popular! Somehow this blog has become so woke you can’t say anything because it might offend somebody
Kay
I loved both Jacks but I must say that Terry Lester’s time on ATWT as Royce Keller and Mason Capwell on Santa Barbara was the best of him, to me anyway.
Violet he was wonderful as Royce unfortunately the death of the head writer ended that story line. Great actor TL his life ended too soon. I watched the show today I so enjoyed flashbacks and really realized how that show has been destroyed by so many awful head writers the first screw up was killing off John Abbott anyway have my memories won’t ever be a regular viewer again . Take care Violet
Add the death of Brad Carlton and Colleen second and third to John Abbott. Totally pointless and plot driven. Rob killed off all of Traci’s supporting family. To this day there hasn’t been a worthy third gen Abbott female like Colleen. Lyndsay and Adrianne were so beautiful and talented. Abby has been such a disappointment . Also to this day there hasn’t been a real worthy third adversary to Jack and Victor like Brad. Billy and Adam s adversary is so contrived.
Love you ladies, congratulations!
Did anyone get this show, I didn’t. I tried Utube which was showing something altogether different for June 16, stuff continued from yesterday plus a little of Victoria and Ashland in N.Y. I also got no other Soaps today, W.T.H?
Finally saw the show today and it was pretty good, didn’t realize how much I’d forgotten, especially Brad Carlelton and Danny Romelotti, what handsome young men they were and the women’s changing hairstyles, etc, etc. Really enjoyed reminiscing.
Seeing some of the flashback scenes got me to thinking. I don’t know what his schedule is and even if maybe he would agree to do recurring. But how about bringing back Michael Damian for Tracy and a romantic storyline. It would be nice to see this. Or even better bring Don Diamont back and let him do double time at B and B and Y and R. I sure don’t see Bill Spencer much on the B&B so why not bring him over to Y and R.

WILLOW IS LOSING CONTROL OF DREW
However, Drew is seen and he can finally move his hands and his feet and is moving around in his wheelchair. Then, Willow is seen beginning to freak out sharing, “We won’t be able to control Drew much longer!” Is Drew finally coming to get his comeuppance? What will be his first move against Willow, once he can walk and talk?
Finally, the promo comes to its conclusion, and Portia (Brooke Kerr) has suddenly gone into labor and she’s all alone! Will Curtis (Donnell Turner) or Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) show up in time or someone else to help her deliver her baby? Will there be medical complications that could derail the birth of her child? Stay tuned.

Now let us know, will Jason be released from his imprisonment pronto thanks to Josslyn’s deal with Z, or suffer some more? Do you hope Drew gets payback on Willow? Next week on all-new episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, the CBS soap opera’s latest preview video indicates that after Electra (Laneya Grace) and Will’s (Crew Morrow) dust up, it looks like Dylan (Sydney Bullock) takes the opportunity to make her move.
In the spoilers video, Dylan is at the beach house with Will and tells him, that this time and for the record that if she were to be with him, she would not be living above the garage. Clearly, she has designs to move into Will’s home and to be with him in his bed. Is this moment that Will and Dylan change their relationship, officially?
On the official B&B Instagram account in the comment thread, Sydney Bullock wrote, “It’s about time for some more DILL, ” and she tagged Crew Morrow. The young star answered her in the thread, sharing, “I heard the people were calling for it 😝.”
