THIS WEEK ON DAYS: Kassie DePaiva Makes Her Debut As Eve Donovan!

Finally! After months of waiting, daytime favorite from Guiding Light, One Life to Live, and for a time, General Hospital, Kassie DePaiva (Ex-Blair) makes her official on-screen debut as the recast Eve Donovan on Days of our Lives. Eve was last played by Charlotte Ross!
What will happen when Eve comes to town? Well, we know Eve has no love lost for Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and clearly it appears she is the mother of Paige (True O’Brien)! Will Eve fall to the charms of Dr. Daniel (Shawn Christian)? Or, set her sights on someone else? And it now appears Eve is a singer! Perfect for DePaiva, right? Then there is the little ditty that Eve is the older sis of Teresa (Jen Lilley)! Will there be sisterly love between these two?
Watch this week’s NBC promo for DAYS heralding the arrival of Kassie DePaiva after the jump! And oh … there is one more thing in the teaser! Sami (Alison Sweeney) asks Abigail (Kate Mansi) to be her maid of honor to her wedding to EJ (James Scott)! Now how is that going to play out? Better think again, Sami! had to reply here: Paige and J.J. have had make out scenes so if she turned out to be Jacks that means J.J. and Paige would be half siblings which would be gross unless they are doing that Marie and Tommy Horton storyline or if somehow J.J. isnt Jacks…J.J. looks like a young Frankie Brady…i briefly stopped watching when J.J. was born…anyway i like J.J. and Paige as the next generations leading young couple so i hope they arent related…maybe Eve and Danial met years ago and Danial turns out to be Paiges daughter…? But it would be something if Paige was Peter Blakes daughter and another Dimera!!!
There are so many intriguing possibilities! I like JJ and Paige too. Maybe a who’s the father storyline will lead them to the wrong conclution, a very likely thing with Teresa involved! I’m stoked!!!

It would be a shocker if Jack, Frankie and Peter came back! It would be nice to have the DiMera family reenergized with Peter Blake and Chad. Maybe Lexie has a twin sister.
I originally hoped Eve was Jordan and Bens parents to move that story along…maybe Eve was involved with their father who was abusive and Jordan or Ben killed him…im ok with her being Paiges mom…so Teressa will try to break up J.J. and her niece Paige…Teressa will help big sis Eve break up Jen and Danial…having someone trying to break Jen and Dan over and over again is very BORING…cant the writers come up with something different for this couple…Days is my favorite of the 4 soaps but if it keeps repeating itself with the constant break up with Danifer i might stop watching…willing to wait and see how Eves return plays out but if its another Danifer break up plot im done!!!
The constant storyline of having someone break up Danifer is redundant and a sign new writers might be needed!!!

i’ve relegated those two… Daniel and Jenn… as (even like Michael and Kiki, GH) as the pundits who are easy targets… to end all and be all… every one else looks twice as good and that much better… so it’s all a give and take… sigh!

I’m sure they’re going to revise birth dates a little to make Eve younger than Cassie DePaiva’s actual age and maybe make Theresa a bit older.
Kassie looks more 40’ish than 53 to me – so she can I guess “get away” with playing just a tad younger than her actual birthdate. If she “went to high school” with Jennifer, than how old is Jennifer supposed to be? They obviously will both be battling for Daniel’s attentions (I mean it’s pretty clear that’s where the storyline is heading) so how old is Daniel supposed to be? It would seem that he would be a bit younger – gets confusing, age wise, on soaps.
What I always find amusing is how they have actors playing parents of grown children…who are in reality pretty close in age. But I guess that’s the power of suspending our disbelief…
I hope I don’t upset you Kassie fans (this is the first time I have ever heard of her….I only watch DOOL)—-BUT, she is WAY TOO OLD TO PLAY EVE! I mean COME ON writers! I know people can play younger than they are…and Kassie looks good for her age…but she does NOT look like she could be Shane’s daughter! Charles Shaughnessy, who plays Shane, is 59 and Kassie is 53! I thought it was a stretcg when Charoltte Ross played her….Charlotte being only 13 years younger than Charles. But Charlotte was young, had a “baby face”, and pulled it off. I feel the writers were just wanting a big star to fill the role and disregarded the believability of the whole thing.
So, sorry OLTL fans…..I hope they recast Eve soon….total miscast, no matter how good she is!
New to Days this month – so excited to see Kassie on TV again!
I am going to tune in just for Kassie. I finally gave up on GH as I am just not one for short attention span theater, and I am barely hanging in there with Y&R. I always thought Kassie would have been great for the part of Rayna on Nashville.

I am glad DAYS is there for this soap fan after the loss of ATWT, AMC, OLTL… And DAYS does not seem the bizarre odd daytime drama it was in the 1990s. Solid stories, interesting actors and characters. Kassie DePaiva only adds to my interest and excitement about the program.

I think DOOL needs to address why Ben and Jordan seem to be on the run. This storyline has gone long enough. Something needs to shake it up because I no longer care about Jordan’s storyline with Rafe. It seems crazy he would not have sled for more concrete answers about her past, especially being a police officer.
I am ready for Eve to come back to the show. But, it doesn’t make any sense that she is related to Theresa and they have never shared a scene and it seems Theresa does not know they are related. Has she not talked to Kim and Shane about Eve in 20 years? I still think Paige looks too young for JJ.
John seems to be back in Salem only to smirk and to follow Brady around. I have never liked the character it seems they are grasping for a storyline for him.
Hi Ray! I think Rafe will spin out of control because of Gabi going to prison. He will push Jordan away and end up with Kate. That will probably be when the mystery man finds Jordan and Rafe will not be there to help her. Ben to the rescue! This story could end up being one of the best ever!

Why do they keep saying “cousin”? How is the child of your half-sister a cousin? Isn’t she a niece? Actually, since they mean Theresa, isn’t she an aunt? I assume they are speaking of Theresa, as it sure looked like her aprtment Paige was in the other day. (I wonder where she hangs out when Theresa and Brady are banging and coking up on the couch.) :p
I figured out for myself that if Frankie is Paige’s father, like someone up above suggested, then Theresa and Paige would be cousins, since Frankie is Kimberly’s brother (though not biologically, of course.) How awsome would it be if Billy Warlock came back?!
I too was wondering who this cousin is that Paige is staying with. But I don’t see how Paige could be staying with Theresa as JJ has been to Theresa’s apartment and surely he’d recognize it. Plus, with all the drugging and sexing Theresa and Brady are into, no wonder Paige would rather pick up trash.

I mean no disrespect to Kassie DePaiva. But, she is NOT, and I will never accept her as Eve Donovan. I have watched “Days” since 1983. So, I watched the show through the entire “Eve” years. Charlotte Ross portrayed that role exceptionally. Kassie’s a wonderful actress. But, in my opinion, she is not Eve Donovan. I feel the same way about Josh Taylor portraying Roman Brady. No offense Josh, but you are not, never walks, and never will be Roman Augustus Brady. Wayne Northrop will always be Roman Brady.
OKAY…..Kassie’s age is RIDICULOUS as Eve Donovan! Charles Shaugnessy is 59 years old….Kassie DePaiva is 53 !!!!!!!! Couldn’t “Days” execs made a better offer to Charlotte Ross to reprise HER role as the ONE and DEFINITIVE Eve Donovan.

DAYS Alum Tanner Stine to Appear in ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’ Starring Nicholas Chavez
Another face familiar to daytime fans has already boarded Ryan Murphy’s limited series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story which stars General Hospital favorite, Nicholas Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) in the role of Lyle.
Tanner Stine who played Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve’s (Stephen Nichols) son, Joey Johnson on Days of our Lives will also appear in the series.
In ‘Monsters’, look for Stine to portray the role of Perry Berman, who was Lyle and Erik’s friend and former tennis coach. In the story, Perry found himself at the epicenter of the murder mystery when he had accepted a phone call from Lyle shortly before the brutal murders of Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Other previously announced castings included: Cooper Koch (who plays Erik), Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny as parents Jose and Kitty Menendez, Nathan Lane as Dominick Dunne, Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson, and Leslie Grossman as Judalon Smyth.

In the series, the two wealthy brothers stand trial for shooting their parents in Beverly Hills, amid claims of self-defense after years of abuse, while prosecutors alleged that greed was the motives for the killing. Lyle and Erik Menendez have been behind bars in California for more than three decades for the 1989 killing of their parents.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story will debut later in 2024 on Netflix.

51st Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Set to Be Announced
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences revealed on Wednesday via X, that this year’s 51st annual Daytime Emmy Nominations are set to be announced in full on Friday, April 19th at 12 pm ET/9 am PT.
However, four of the top award category nominations will be revealed on Thursday, April 18th across four entertainment news programs to kick things off.
Those include this Thursday episodes of Access Hollywood, E! News, Entertainment Tonight and Extra. Over the past few years, NATAS has often let the syndicated entertainment news program handle the duties of revealing the top actor and actress in a daytime drama series, but we shall see which categories the shows unveil this year.

As previously announced, the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented in ceremonies on Friday night, June 7th on CBS (8 – 10 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+*.
The awards will be back at The Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles, where (the delayed due to the actors and writers strike) 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held back in December of 2023.

The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary, and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, NATAS and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime.
The 51st Daytime Emmy Nominations will honor the work and achievement from the calendar year of 2023.

Days of our Lives wins WGA Award for Daytime Drama Series
Sunday night, April 14th in concurrent ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City, the Writers Guild of America is handing out their 76th annual WGA Awards in the fields of motion picture, television, news media, and radio/audio.
In the Daytime Drama category, Peacock’s Days of our Lives was the winner, taking home its fourth WGA Award in this category in a row.
The DAYS winning writing team consisted of Head Writer Ron Carlivati Creative Consultant Ryan Quan and Writers Sonja Alar, Jazmen Darnell Brown, Joanna Cohen, Carolyn Culliton, Richard Culliton, Cheryl Davis, Kirk Doering, Christopher Dunn, Jamey Giddens, David Kreizman, Henry Newman, Dave Ryan, and Katherine D. Schock.

The team from Days of our Lives bested the only other team in the category from General Hospital, which consisted of former GH head writers: Dan O’Connor, Chris Van Etten Writers Ashley Cook, Emily Culliton, Suzanne Flynn, Charlotte Gibson, Lucky Gold, Kate Hall, Elizabeth Korte, Shannon Peace, Stacey Pulwer, Dave Rupel, Lisa Seidman, and Scott Sickles.

As previously reported, a show spokesperson for Days of our Lives shared that the episodes submitted for the competition were #14663, #14678 & #14679, and mostly centered around the death, and the funeral of Victor Kiriakis played by the late John Aniston.
This week, DAYS head scribe, Ron Carlivati, confirmed that, and told Michael Fairman TV on the decision of the scripts the team submitted: “I like to have some humor, but it was also the funeral, and then there was Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) giving birth, and then Vivian’s (Louise Sorel) crashing the reading of the will.”
