This week on ABC’s General Hospital will make his highly anticipated return of Ryan Carnes in the role of Lucas Jones!

As fans of the series know, Bobbie Spencer (Jackie Zeman) is Lucas’ adopted mother, while the very much alive Julian Jerome (William deVry) is actually his biological father! What will happen when Julian meets the son he never knew?  Will he cause more trouble for Bobbie?  And, will Julian accept that his son is gay?  Many unanswered questions that fans of the series are waiting to see play out!

Elsewhere, Morgan (Bryan Craig) is worried about his MIA missing mom, Carly (Laura Wright) and goes after Julian!  Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) gives Sabrina (Teresa Castill0) a talking to reminding her she is trying to pass off Patrick’s (Jason Thompson) child as someone else’s, while Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) seems to stumble upon them, and Kiki (Kristen Alderson) is on to her mother Ava (Maura West) for a secret she is hiding!

Watch this week’s preview of GH after the jump, and let us know what you think will happen between Julian and Lucas when Lucas returns to Port Charles?

WOW & WOW !!!
This going to be awesome!!
,, excited !!!!

Why isnt the mental hospital looking for Heather?(she gets help to sneak out from security guards but the rest of the staff shouldve noticed by now she isnt there) Olivia confronts Franco and reminds him he is a killer…who is Olivia dating…Sonny, a mobster known for murder! Sonny calls A.J. a killer for murdering Connie…what a hypocrite…how many deaths is Sonny responsible for…countless!!! Meanwhile, i dont think Julian and Lucas will bond anytime soon…maybe Lucas and Felix will know each other?

There will be a chance Carlos is the father of Sabrinas baby…

Carlos knows they did not have sex..
If he did have sex with he would tell Sabrina it could be his baby, not Patrick’s but his baby, he can not do that because they did not do the deed..

Sonny will probably end up killing Carlos, Carlos will finger point the initials SC in his own blood and AJ will still get the blame!

suOOOO, your most likely right…

Olivia going to Franco’s room and being all bad ass was very random. And why is it that Heather can reach up and remove Carly’s gag, but Carly can’t use her own hands to do the same? Ha, ha, ha. One of the reasons we love of soaps is so we can pick it apart!

i enjoy picking them apart…thats part of the fun watching!

I was going crazy! Her hands are tied in FRONT of her, no reason she cannot ungag herself & with those stiletto shoes she could have kicked the hell out of the boathouse floor when Monica & AJ were out there, right? I, for one, am sick to death of Heather-she was actually kind of amusing way back when but this is over the top, even for a soap. Quit dragging her back out-we have too many storylines on this show & do not need anymore Heather, Scotty, Lucy or Kevin. Take Rafe, Molly & TJ too. All of these characters are a waste of screen time.

And why could Carly groan and screech and moan when Heather was in the room…yet she couldnt utter a sound when Monica and AJ were outside? I will accept all the latex masks and back from the deads and other soapy conventions…but when they do flat out stupid things like that…it totally takes you out of the moment. There is no gag that prevents a person from making a sound. If there was that big of a raccoon problem on the Quartermaine grounds….Monica sure has a lot to deal with. Carlivati is veering dangerously close to the dreaded James E. Reilly territory with some of his ridiculous non plot points. Thats not a good thing.

I think we tend to not question Heather and her Houdini like abilities because she is such an over the top cartoonish character we all love and put common sense a side?

Heather is not ‘ cartoonish” where do people come up with such nonsense…
… Heather is true ”soap campy” …

Can’t wait to see how Julian reacts to not only having a son and that he’s gay as well. I wonder how Julian finds out Lucas is his son.

Carnes looks amazing….gone is that cookie-cutter surfer dude look. Maybe time to record GH again since & will have room without Y&R.

Lucas is all grown up and so much hotter than before. They can’t possibly be planning to waste this hot man on the likes of Felix or Brad. I’m all for Lucas being a gay man, but not with either of those two clowns.

I actually like those “two clowns.” Felix is hilarious, bright and completely loyal…and Brad is has gone from evil to sorta endearing as he tries to do the right thing to win Felix.

Agree. Felix is precious & I have come around to Brad (can’t believe I said that, ha!)

LOL…I know (regarding Brad), right?

Those two clowns can do whatever they want as long as they stay away from Lucas. They are both out of his league.

oh Stylish…we don’t even know how Lucas will be portrayed yet…personality-wise. If you’re just talking looks…well, by all means, be superficial. Felix is an educated person, a nurse, a loyal friend, a compassionate human being. As a fictional character…I think anyone they pair him up with should consider themselves lucky.

Not to make this a “Revenge” thread, but it is awfully difficult to keep a scorecard as to whom is good or bad on that show! Everyone is pretty suspect, although I do consider Nolan to be a sweetheart (albeit a devious one!) and the jury is still out on Patrick….I think there is much more to him than meets the eye, and who he is really playing has yet to be determined. That being said, I do believe that there is a sincere bond between those two, but their various loyalties tend to keep both on their toes, clever boys that they are!!!! All I was implying was that I find them to be quite an attractive, intelligent and intriguing duo…not the usual stereotypes, which makes for an interesting and enjoyable viewing experience. As for the GHers, well, they have been played for laughs…and displayed some truly deplorable behavior, too. Brad was a sleazy creep from Day One, and Felix is most annoying and often downright rude in his non-stop worship and defense of the babymama, not to mention his less than compassionate attitude toward Robin, which is totally disgusting. Many of us find neither Mr. Cooper nor Mr. DuBois to be very endearing, and that is not based simply upon their less than stunning appearances, but their really rotten actions. Warm and fuzzy they are not, so let’s stop pretending that they are really great guys!!!!! I wouldn’t wish either one of them on Lucas, no matter how he is portrayed!!!!

Well, rebecca1, at least we can heartily agree about AJ….he has gotten a bad rap and been seriously underutilized for the past six months or more, and he deserves so much better….but I guess that is the extent to where we have any sort of simpatico. You seem to be fixating on the physical attractiveness of my “Revengers” and yes, they are extremely fine on the eyes, but perhaps the word I would use to really capture their essence is “sophistication.” It’s what I was grasping to express about why Nolan and Patrick impress me and the GH pair, not SO much!!!! There are many people in this world who are not physically blessed, but they have a certain je ne sais quoi about themselves, whether they are good or bad characters is not the issue, they just possess that special factor, and that is what I was saying that I hope Lucas emulates. I want him to be a well-rounded, interesting, worldly individual with multi-layers…not just another stereotypical buffoon as I view Felix and Brad as representing. Of course, the fact that Mr. DuBois is so wholly attached to that “Cinderbrina” debacle is just another reason for my great derision regarding him. As you are quite aware, I despise that entire storyline with the now-unwed babymama who was just “champing at the bit” (tip of the hat to Harry, there….) to be the next princess of Port Charles, so yes, my “Sappy animosity” does extend to Felix, since they are joined at the hip. (Should be getting pretty crowded there, what with Carlos, Brad, and said bambino, but I have yet to see any indication that anyone is vacating that limited space….) At any rate, my intention was not to debate who has or has not a virtuous persona, per se, that could be done for days on end…although I have certainly been less than impressed with the motives and methods of the “two clowns”…..it was simply to agree with “Stylish” and his assessment about possible partners for Lucas. Actually, I am hoping with all the dramatic plots facing Mr. Jones that romance will be the last thing on his mind for at least awhile…yet I have no doubt that your beloved duo will trip over themselves in one foolish attempt after another to grab the attention of the “new guy!!!!!”

@rebecca1….Who can really say why one viewer takes to a character and another finds them instantly insufferable? It’s certainly not as simplistic as saying you like someone based upon whether they are good or bad in nature. There are “good” characters that I adore and cheer (Anna and Mrs. Hughes on “Downton Abbey,” the late Lila Quartermaine, Alice and Spinelli on GH, plus other examples too numerous to mention) and there are bad characters in which I revel and love (such as Port Charles’ Dr. O. and Heather, plus “Revenge’s” Victoria, etc.) All I know is that this “Sobby” situation is one that has truly ignited very vociferous responses on both the pro and con sides. I have never loathed a role/storyline on a soap as much as hers….and that does extend to others in her orbit, so yes, that also offers a clue as to some of my antipathy toward Felix. Both annoy me to no end, and not until I started reading a lot of other soap comment sites did I realize that I was in such crowded company!!!! I have tried (apparently in vain….) many times to verbalize the hows and whys of my objections to diehard fans of this actress, character, plot, et al…all I can say is that some seemed to have truly bought into this highly improbable and from my viewpoint, ridiculous fairytale, and are enchanted by the whole idea of this silly girl who would be more at home on a Disney sitcom than an adult soap opera. I’ve never witnessed a more immature, out-of-place and predictable year of pablum in my life than where the “Putrina” pairing was concerned, and after finally achieving the much-desired Scorpio-Drake reunion, to arbitrarily throw in a completely unnecessary, insulting and ludicrous pregnancy just took the cake for a lot of us….to even have to witness this latest travesty is enough to make me want to hurl or at the very least, shut off the show! (I’ve skipped it twice in the past week because of this absurd content….) So, yeah, maybe it is inexplicable to those such as yourself who passionately defend this particular part of the GH saga which has sent normally mild-mannered people into such a sarcastic and snarky snit, but it just is what it is….a visceral, honest and at least for me, isolated but perfectly reasonable reaction!!! As for the original premise of pinning the “clown” label on Felix and Brad, I again say it is more a matter of their actions and attitudes, not appearance or level of attractiveness, but for those who do find these two goofy guys to be endearing, I suppose that elucidation will not suffice. All I can add is that I just hope that the return of Lucas shows a different facet of the subculture to which he belongs…one more dignified, gracious, professional and serious, that’s all. Having said that, it has been an enjoyable experience debating with you, since we seem to have quite a few programming choices, albeit not a plethora of opinions, in common! I look forward to further discussions ( if not regarding this subject, then others) with you, as you’re such a worthy and well-spoken sparring partner!

Totally agree, “Stylish!” (Your name says it ALL!) I much prefer Nolan and Patrick on “Revenge” as a couple. They are sooo easy on the eyes, classy, intelligent and urbane, plus no one can beat Mr. Ross’s sartorial and verbal eloquence! Here’s hoping that Lucas follows in their footsteps and avoids the laughable behavior of “those two clowns.” (Although I did like Brad’s taking to task Felix’s nosy, obsessive behavior regarding other people’s business!) P.S. Is it just me, or does Mr. DuBois remind anyone else of “In Living Color’s” Antoine Merriwether???? Two snaps up!!!

Haha! I love how the definition of who’s a “clown” and who’s “worthy” comes down to looks. Shay, if you’re using Patrick as a standup example of who’s worthy I think you need to take another look at the show.

Yes, I LOVE LOOKING at him; he’s gorgeous! And I LOVE Nolan…in every regard. The two of them together are quite the eye candy. But “classy?” Patrick is a murderer who’s betrayed Nolan more than once. So, yes, while I need my fix…and I love seeing what’s going to happen next…and also secretly hope that Patrick turns out to be a good guy…at this point I’d find it a tad of a stretch to put any accolades on him other than beautiful.

“Mr. DuBois” is Sabrina’s Nolan…and while he’s not the “looker” (in my opinion) that Nolan is…he’s no clown. He’s less slick on the outside (although he’d beg to differ!) but he’s a quality “character.”

Truth be told? I wouldn’t mind seeing some new “hottie” come to town to pair up with Lucas…who doesn’t want to see gorgeousness multiplied? But I resent the clown reference to these two other characters…yeah, they’re fun and silly…but they’ve got depth, heart and quite a bit of intelligence.

But then again I like Sabrina. And some others don’t…

By the way for those who don’t watch REVENGE, the Patrick we’re referring to here is from REVENGE, not the Patrick of GH.

I always find it funny when someone categorizes one character as bad, evil, unscrupulous, or as you put it Shay…having “rotten actions.” How many times on GH has Tracy, Carly, Sonny judged AJ? A manipulatiavve bitch, a woman who slept with her mother’s husband, and a murderer…judge AJ…and there are fans who agree with them!

In the same vein…back to REVENGE…almost all the characters, with the exception of Jack and his new girlfriend…ar devious. I LOVE Nolan…I think he’s the best! But Patrick? He killed a man for him mom…and just bashed Nolan in the head for her. So…yeah, he’s gorgeous…talented…more than great to look at…but in terms of character I’d still say Felix on GH is a “better man.”

Yes, Felix has been played to some degree for comic effect…but I think he’s evolved. When they first introduced him he was so “back-in-the-day” stereotypical…but he’s shown how caring he is…toward Sabrina and his sister…I don’t find him to be intrusive…I find him to be Sabrina’s rock. Even his attitude toward Brad…he loathed him for his “dastardly deeds” but had empathy when he realized there was more to the guy.

So, let’s call it what it is. Those who want to see Lucas with someone else are talking strictly about looks. And that’s fine. Just own it.

Well of course Nolan and Patrick are sophisticated…the entire show centers around the extremely wealthy, /Hampton crowd…all are beautiful, polished…that’s the vibe of the show.

What we’re talking about “here” is GH! That’s peanut butter to caviar (though I MUCH prefer peanut butter!)

When/if GH runs a gay character ala Patrick and Nolan, then yes…it would seem that a comparable partner would be logical. I just took note that at the start of this thread these two guys were referred to as clowns. Brad? Ya…until his recent revelation and attempt to become a better man. But I really wonder if Felix and Brad looked like Nolan and Patrick if they’d be called the same. And I also wonder why such bitterness towards Felix, who again, is a good person, caring friend, brother etc…He’s lovable if nothing else…but so much more.

Spinelli was the same. Goofy but a wonderul character. Sabrina? I’ll never get the venom toward this character. All you’ve said Shay is that she is trying to replace Robin, move in on Patrick…just said she’s “chomping on the bit to be the next princess…” How? She’s is SO good…that she didn’t even use the baby to break up Patrick and Robin!

I fail to understand you. You write beautifully…you express yourself wonderfully…but your understanding of character is what I find baffling.

@Shay….Believe it or not I do understand some of your feelings regarding the Sabrina storyline…I never saw her as manipulative…ever. And I truly don’t think she was written that way, nor do I think there’s an iota of manipulation in her. THAT’s where I have a problem understanding your “wrath” toward the character.

Initially written young/wide-eyed innocent? Yes. Perhaps portrayed as a young girl with a crush on an older, out-of-her-league doctor? Perhaps. But…I still feel they matured her emotionally…and I do feel she’s a very empathetic worthy character. But I certainly don’t feel everyone has to like her…as nor does everyone like everyone in “real” life.

Felix and Brad? We’ve exhausted that topic…and each other (LOL) on that topic.

I too appreciate your intelligence and well thought out responses. I simultaneously find it amusing that we’re debating “soap” people! It really is amusing…

Ahhh…those wicked, silly guilty pleasures….soaps.

😉

So, in essence, we will just agree to disagree on the Sobby/Felix/Brad thing and call it a day! After viewing your other postings on different programs it would seem we can find much more in common than debating a few daytime characters! It is a hoot that we can be so passionate about “people” that don’t really exist, but then that’s what the soaps are all about (day or night)…drawing us in, and they have! At any rate, did you find it odd that nobody else much commented on this ongoing conversation? I thought it would have actually garnered a lot of other opinions…especially from some of our favorite regulars, but I guess they decided to just sit back, relax and let the two crazy chicks keep at it…LOL! Oh well….until next time, and I’m sure there WILL be a next time!!!! ; )

yep…I expected a tad more hostility and venom. quel disappointment!

😉

Off subject but I am throwing it out there but now that Silas has a wife in a coma I read on line. Is this Michelle Stafford waking up? Just thought it would be funny if Phyllis went into a coma on Y&R but woke up on GH. Lol!

I love it!

Its getting interesting again! The problem I have is how does heather look so good and miraculously heal from being stabbed and buried maybe shes one of lucys vampires haha. There has never been a convincing story for heather even jerry jax suffers a little before he comes back heather never does. I hope lucus comes on and gives julian hell it would be fun to watch someone not cower down to him for once.

Is he the same guy who last played Lucas? He doesn’t look familiar to me.

Carnes originated the role. Then Drake Hogestyn’s step-son, Ben, played the role.

Ryan played Lucas circa 2005, and then Drake Hogestyn’s son took over the role for a while before it was written out.

new year and same people in the forefront, its sad they couldn’t start the new year by putting someone like Rebeca Herbts front and center. i’m tired of sam, carly and sabrina as the female leads they are so whiny and on way too much..

I’m excited for what’s coming.

But one thing that bothers me is that I keep seeing these 15-16 second commercials on this site but don’t see them on TV; that’s where they belong. Is ABC running these ads??? I sure hope I’m just missing them and other people are seeing how wonder this show is.

“wonderful”

I want lucas and felix, to have a romantic relationship. Also make julian jerome gay too, that would be a huge twist. julian is one hot man. lol. william devry is hot and masculine, i love that, about him. my boyfriend is hot good looking and masculine too lol. William is a wonderful actor, Also i love ava jerome, maura west, what can you say, brillant actress. thats why, she has 2 emmys.

I enjoyed the actor who played Lucas in the past and it is nice to see this guy reprise his role. He can act, he looks like Julian, and he is gay. I am not but coming out is so common now, it is part of society and should be recognized in soaps.

I tip my hat to Carlos. He was one dimensional. Now, suggesting they run off and raise Patrick’s baby shows how much he loves Sabrina. Having said that, it is not in Sabrina’s character to lie, especially to Patrick. Another “Whose the daddy” story line? PLEASE NO!

Nice to see AJ around town. Him and Robin? YES!

I’m really not liking Ryan back as Lucas already. Ben would’ve been a nicer choice. But I’m excited for his return anyway. Hope he’s paired with someone new.

And yes for Ava! I love her. She’s going to destroy Port Charles and rule it as her own. #TeamJerome

I just want the writers to FINALLY give A.J. much-needed happiness!

Yes! Agree!

Or at least a much-needed storyline! And I don’t mean another trip to rehab!!!!

There goes Felix again sticking his nose in Sabrina’s business! I think she is wrong because Patrick (or anyone for that matter) deserves to know they are a daddy, as does the child, but it is none of Felix’s concern what Sabrina does. Some people think he is her great friend but he is just a buttinsky as Brad told him; plus he promised he would not tell Patrick and he opened his big mouth. Does anyone else think that Lucas and Julian look alike??

I’d like to see Ava leave the show. I enjoy entertainment in the afternoon. I see a fine line between evil and entertainment. Ava is on the wrong side of that line. Brad did terrible things and Felix wanted him to fix some of it, to be a better man. Before he actually hits the better man line he starts sleeping with Lucas. Brad may be improving, but not enough to catch Felix. Sabrina has been nothing but sweet through the show. So I have no idea where all of your nasty remarks and ideas are coming from. Suffice it to say, I hope none of you have children of your own.

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

Published

on

By

Dominic Zamprogna

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).

On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.

Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT

Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”

Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”

Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES

In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”

Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”

You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.

Now weigh-in: Are you rooting for Dante and Liz, or Dante and Ric at this juncture of the story, or neither guy  for Elizabeth? Let us know your thoughts and picks via the comment section.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’ Alum Chad Duell Admits That He Didn’t Expect the Role of Michael Corinthos to be Recast, and Would Consider Working on Another Soap (Exclusive)

Published

on

By

Chad Duell, the Daytime Emmy-winning actor, who stepped away from the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos on General Hospital, opened up about: his previous decision to leave the series after nearly 15 years, where’s he’s at now after time away from the demands of a daytime soap opera, and took a stroll down memory lane with some of Michael’s most-acclaimed storyline during his run, during a livestream chat on August 19 on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Viewers last saw Duell on-screen as Michael in January of 2025, and with his successor in the role, Rory Gibson making his debut at the GH Nurses’ Ball in episodes that aired later in May. It was clear that during the conversation, Chad was a bit surprised that the GH brass decided to recast him when he thought he was just taking some much needed time off.

Burn-out of the daily grind of being on a soap was definitely a part of Chad’s decision to take a break. Duell explained “People know when you’re doing something for so long or your character is kind of in the same place for so long or doing the same stuff over and over again, you do get a a little burnt out, you get a little stiff, stale, a little stiff at times. I didn’t want that to be any sort of lasting impression. I have 15 years of a body of work of I’ve done on that show, which is fantastic.”

WHILE CHAD WAS AWAY GH RECAST MICHAEL CORINTHOS WITH RORY GIBSON

Chad shared, his mindset when leaving GH was, “I’m taking some time away, we’ll see what happens.” Then he added, “Obviously, they decided to go in a different direction with Michael when I was gone. I didn’t think they were going to bring somebody back in my place. But you know, it’s the business. You never know what can happen.”

Duell also shared he has not watched a single episode of General Hospital since he left the series, but now feels he reenergized following the loss of his father and stepping away from the GH, “I’m in a place now mentally, where I’m ready to sink my teeth into it again.”

Even though he is no longer Michael on GH, Chad was very happy with his final storyline where Michael was set on fire when a bomb exploded at Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse. “It was fun to put him in a dangerous situation, because I was wanting Michael to be in something scary instead of trying to be a hero character or just things happening around him, but to be the center point of tragedy happening to him. (I always saw) Michael as the heart of the (Corinthos) family.”

When Michael was badly burned the show chose not burn his face, which normally a soap does when they are recasting role and switching actors. Chad weighed-in, “They didn’t burn my face because I told Frank Valentini (EP, GH) I’m willing to come back. It was just a little bit of a break. So, I assumed that if they would have burned my face, they could have brought somebody back looking different than me… if that’s what their plan was.”

MEMORABLE MICHAEL STORYLINES

One of Chad’s most memorable performances was the in the storyline of Michael’s rape while he was sentenced to prison in 2010 and the confession of it in 2011. “It was so well-written and I was very nervous,” recalled Chad. “When I get really nervous about something, it ends up being really good when I do it, because it just means I care a lot about it”

“I have to put a lot of effort and work into it, and I really want it to be good.  I was working with Dominic  Zamprogna (Dante) and Steve Burton (Jason) a lot during those scenes, and Laura Wright (Carly). It was great working with Steve and Dominic, especially, during that storyline.

A NEW SOAP ROLE FOR CHAD?

As to a future soap opera role, Chad is open to the idea and would love to jump back in to a juicy role, “I know people over at The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. They know that if they’re interested, I would love to come in for a screen test or something, and they can see what I’m doing.”

Meanwhile, Chad has been busy putting out new music under the moniker Duelly and during the interview he explains how he creates his EDM tracks and much more. You can stream his latest single, Static in the Quiet Room on Spotify, Apple Music and You Tube Music.
