THIS WEEK on GH: Sam and Tea Go Into Labor! Can you say, "Baby-Switch"? – Watch the Promo!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

So this looks on the surface that General Hospital is taking something from the soap opera playbook 101!

This week, Sam (Kelly Monaco) goes into labor at the same time Tea (Florencia Lozano) goes into labor.  And, of course, it’s a stormy night! And, there is Heather (Robin Mattson), an unstable woman on the loose! And, who should help Sam give birth to her baby but John McBain(Michael Easton)! And, who should help Tea deliver her baby, Todd (Roger Howarth)!  Looks like the men of Llanview are good at delivering babies!

So what next?  Sam’s evil spawn via Franco ends up in Tea’s hands, and Tea’s long awaited child via Victor Jr’s ends up in Sam’s hands?  Watch this week promo after the jump and let us know what you think of the story! And do you think that a Sam/John and Tea/Todd pairing could be something the-powers-that-be are working towards? Or is it just a big tease?  Weigh-in!

looks good !!!

I don’t know everyone, this IS classic soap opera. We all sit back & beg for new, original stories but try to start thinking of one yourself! Not as easy as it sounds. Let’s just enjoy the ride. Can’t help but be great with the players involved. I love the rainy stormy night part of it too. And crazy Heather in that rain slicker, ha! It will be fun.

Geez, how many times are the soap writers going to go to this well? This is why soaps are losing viewers in droves and younger people aren’t willing to jump on board. If this keeps up with old tropes from the past, I may jump ship.

God I hope not.

I hope the baby switch is a Joke….Come on already.

PLEASE NO BABY SWITCH STORYLINES! This plot device is the soap cliche I despise — a close second is frequent resurrections from the dead — and after OLTL’s protracted paternity plot, it is best in my opinion to tell a new kind of story. Please!

Hopefully a big tease! and YUCK on the baby switch…enough already!

GH has been doing well, keep it up–don’t be predictable and boring!

I heard this was coming oh well how original! As far as Mcbain and Sam I think we are going to find out she is his half sister & GH recasting of Kristina with this gal bad move she looks older then Sam.

Heck, this new girl practically looks older than Alexis! But for sure older than Sam. She IS gorgeous & looks like she could be Sonny & Alexis’ daughter but just too old for the part.

Oh yes I agree a very pretty young lady I checked her age they say 22 they need to tone the makeup down and maybe it might help but it is really going to be obvious how mature she looks when she has scenes with Michael!

What about when she has scenes with Carly? She REALLY looks like Sonny.

She does look older but I have to give her time sometimes it takes several scenes to change your mind about someone you have to get use to them so I have to cut her a break for a while. However there is no way that woman, daughter or not, would come into my home and tell me we are going to be in a reality show or she is leaving, I would hold the door open and she would be right out the door daughter or not shes 18. I did get a kick out of the look on Sonnys face through all of this, It’s nice to see him in a family situation instead of yelling out orders to his mob friends. And while I am talking about the mob, Jason has pissed me off again in what he had done to John mcbain, Did you see what those 2 goons did to John? Jason continues to disappoint me, his treatment of Sam and now this.

Recast of Kristina. God! She so reminded ME of Skyy… i wish she was SKYY and Lorenzo Alcazars, child. they were so HOT. and, throw in LUKE. SKY was command for. Now, i say she’s hot with Jax… throw in Carly… Smellin’ Salt HOT! Swoon! LOL..

this would be tough… KING or Tea’s brother… if it would bring sky back to GH.. then KING.

I don’t know why writers always go for the overdone baby switch! This type of storyline is so played out. This would be a bad idea, and a good way to piss off your fan base, that is slowly coming back to GH. I love soaps……the drama, the suspense, the romance, the thrills…..but for once, can’t someone have a damn baby and not have it switched with someone else’s? It’s not a bad idea, to let us see some people happy every now and then….And being that Sam has had it bad enough, being raped and then having her jerk of a husband basically abandon her…..And Tea has had to suffer the loss of her husband (not knowing that he’s really alive and being held captive by crazy Margaret Cochran), can’t these two women just have a happy moment with their own children? Give me a break Ron!!

AMEN, TORREY! And to have a baby switch with Tea, who just dealt with revelation of “the two Todds,” really? Oh make it not happen. Or resolve it uber-quickly.

I think you mean Alison Perkins is holding Victor. Apparently, no one is happy on GH. I hope they don’t drag it out. They dragged out the John/Natalie/Liam storyline on OLTL and then the show ended. Who knows how much longer GH will exist?

Yeah, that’s what I meant….Alison, but you get what I mean. And I totally agree with you. The John/Natalie/Liam story was the one story that drove me freaking crazy on OLTL, because Ron drug that out way too long.

By no one is happy on GH, do you mean the actors?

I meant none of the characters on GH appear happy.

Hopefully longer than one year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“The outcome no one is expecting.” Ok, well that would rule out a baby switch, right?!

I heard there was a switch, but that one baby would not make it (more like Y&R with Sharon & Ashley).

I also read that Jason ends up delivering Sam’s baby after he takes care of getting John out of the way. I guess we will all have to wait and see how it all unfolds.

I hope John doesn’t get hurt…………………………………Sonny said yesterday he wanted to get John out of the picture….Hopefully John will see threw that one………………………………………………………….

I read that John gets “tied up” via Jason somehow so that Jason can deliver HIS baby, but they won’t find that out until the end of summer. Heather switched the DNA results and Heather takes Sam’s baby … or so I have heard.

Again, I think this WILL be good despite the majority of the comments to the contrary. I do not think it is a baby switch. I think Tea gets her baby and Sam “loses” hers for a while just as Jason comes to terms with the whole thing.

i hope sam and jason stay toqther for each other ^ baby stay alives _
jason get john out _ of town _ and get him away from sam mc call _ and baby

No baby switch pleaseeee!!!! I’m already use to women on a soap not giving birth the traditional way, in a hosp, but in a cave, cabin, etc….Isn’t that drama enough. Plus, all the drama w/Sam and Jason’s baby, then 2 add a switch, too much. A real twist and shocker would be to get 2 a hospital in time, give birth and it’s all done with. I know it’s a soap……But been there, done that, seen that, enough already.

I see a father coming back from the dead being involved either to keep the baby safe or abducting the baby, or, heaven help us, yet another story where one of the babies dies.

I am afraid one of the babies will be dying (hopefully Franco’s) and heaven won’t be helping us, but Victor’s return sounds great to me.

Everybody’s always “I’m so sick of the mobster storylines” and the second it looks like we might be getting some good old-fashioned soap opera story-telling they start complaining.

Gimme a break!

Ron Carlivati is the last working head-writer who actually understands pacing and long-term story so I’m sure wherever this is headed its pay-off will be amazing. The only way this story could get even better is if Allison Perkins dropped by to help her old sanitarium pal Heather Webber with her latest plot…

There is no way an unoriginal baby switch story is a good idea. I see a downward spiral in the making…

I’ll take an “unoriginal baby switch” story any day of the week over mobsters shooting one another (and with the state this show was in pre-Cartini, I don’t think there’s much further downward it could go).

I say we all sit back and see what unfolds before we pronounce this storyline the worst idea ever; there are few original ideas left but story execution and stellar performances can make even the oldest stories seem new and exciting.

The best part of a baby switch would be the ripple effect it would have on the show as a whole as people find out, nearly find out, and react to it as a community (something GH hasn’t done well since BJ’s death).

that would be fun! (Crazy Heather AND Crazy Allison!!) And Allison could make some off hand comment that makes Heather find out about Allison’s “kept” man!

What a pair they would be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey christy, 1loveabcsoaps, Says thank you for the info you gave her for viewing general hospital on u tube, when she finds your name she will tell you thanks herself or him self Only know as 1lovabcsoaps.

I like this story it is better then the pcpd finding a dead body at the docks, How many times has the docks been the last place the mobsters go to kill each other? That’s where Sonny has his Wink, Wink, Coffee warehouse, where Michael was shot.

Please no baby switch stories – it adds insult to an already grieving Tea.
I do like the idea of Todd delivering her baby though – that should bring out some interesting emotions.

hope sam s baby alive _ and tea alright _ healther _ is on the run _out there in the rained _ and _ her ex husband todd __ deliverubg the baby _

Should be quite interesting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh brother!

No, no, no!!! Frank what the hell are you doing? Enough with baby switching stories!!!!

Although it’s a bit of a cliche, GH needs some basic old-fashioned soapy storytelling, and this would be it. With the actors involved, it could be wonderful. I say bring it on.

I read a preview that Todd was feeling guilty about something… I was wondering if he was going to repeat a page out of his own soap book, and take Tea’s baby… like he did with Blair’s (thinking it was Max’s baby, not his own).

Also read “someone” would be helping Sam deliver the baby… just figured it would be Heather! OMG that would be really a good twist! John McBain always bumping into Sam got old so quickly…

You know if the babies get switched it will probably be crazy Heather! Or she could just steal Sam’s baby altogether!

Baby switching? AGAIN? I can’t stop laughing. This is funny. How many times on ABC soaps has this happened? Naturally, Heather and Todd are involved. Todd told Blair her child had died when instead he had sold it (on OLTL about 10 years ago). Please let Franco’s baby die and Victor’s baby live!

Heather is not unstable. She’s a sociopath. Speaking of crazy, evil, and messing with children, I miss the character of Irene Manning.

John and Sam will probably turn out to be related so let’s avoid incest, please. Wait, maybe incest would be a good storyline. That will help us forget Franco raping Sam. Poor Sam could use a psychiatrist, except Dr. Keenan won’t be around anymore (Nathin Butler was let go).

The thought of Tea and Todd together is sickening knowing Todd killed Victor. Besides, Tea is only in Port Charles temporarily. I just hope Tea and Victor’s baby lives. I am sorry Todd delivers it.

Now, Natalie is refusing to take John’s calls. I think FV/RC are planning on severing all connections to OLTL storylines so they won’t have to integrate anymore OLTL characters. John, Todd, and Starr will remain in Port Charles as GH characters, but Llanview will be dead to them.

The clip doesn’t really tell us much…just that both babies are born. But it has been spoiled that the babies are switched, and for me, that is just LAZY STORY TELLING! Not to mention OVERDONE!

Looks like the saviors, CarTini, are continuing their bad writing…

Same old song and dance. zzzzzz

MICHAEL, I have not been here in a week, I never wrote this post. Also From my friends computer when I was going to sign in there were several other peoples names with their e mails including mine, I also went on another computer and my name and e mail was on all the places to leave a comment. Something is wrong here hope you find out what. Thanks.

Hey MICHAEL – this has been happening to me for over a week now… from two computers. if I hadn’t of noticed, I could have been several commentors… including Barbara T! 🙂

Never wrote that “same old song and dance”zzzzzz, Some one is using my name . Not at all happy about this storyline now another baby is going to die, I don’t want to see either one of these women loose their babies, Sam because she has had so many heartbreaking losses with her babies, And I do not want to see Tea and a very much alive Victor lose their baby, Seriously I would rather she go back to landview then be mixed up in this baby dies, and On top of that the babies get switched, Come on don’t want that to happen. Is anyone In Port charles happy? because I am not.

Looks like great soap! Not a fan of yet another baby-switch story, but I’ll definitely tune in. Hopefully they will do something creative. Also, does John McBain really have to be the one delivering Sam’s baby? Saw that coming a mile away and I am not happy about that either. I would rather see Jason deliver the baby and it bringing them back together as a family. Actually, I’d rather see ANYONE but John deliver Sam’s baby. Except maybe Heather. Sam has been through enough. I know happy = boring in soapdom, but GH could use some glimmers of hope and happiness now and again.

this is a tough one…. the Smoldering Tea. alliance mode here. She layers, nuances, her act. it’s underlying conniving … LOL.. or just too hot to get ; she’s gentle… sweet… understands the break in conversation… she’s all senses aware… A calm inner mystifying Senses. Stimulates.

You could see Todd… in love with this woman. Passionate Heat. Soap digest and/or carolyn hennesy… recognized the sparks w/Tea/Carly/Johnny/ &todd. Ummhh… hello. breaks from the MOB… distractions..

Back to intrigue… IMO Sam’s “shell-shocked” pregnancy… wasn’t supposed to be happening {she’s having a baby}… time has flown by. She acknowledges this baby… believeable performance and acting. on Sam’s lead… it’s like feeling Jason’s aura;energy prompting her wait.

To believe he readily admitted it’s not his to “port charles”… and Sam, like Tea… “holding” what’s being…

Todd and John… Dag! how’s that for OLTL fans… This is going to work… cause its soap 101… good actors… who from the start… got attention. i’m not 100% torn about John McBain.

I’m waiting for Sams…. behind her eyes… release. Tea’s past “alive”.
it’s good story that could last years… memorable performances…

SOAPS, You got to love them, the twists and turns, Babies getting switched, I don’t trust Heather, And I can not believe Todd got involved with crazy Heather But I liked their Awkward scenes and want to see more. What she talked Todd into doing I can’t believe, Several times I screamed out to the television “tell tea the truth”, Well we all know it did not turn out that way. Heather can talk a rattlesnake out of it’s skin, she is that good, but because of heather And Todds actions We are lead to believe that One baby is dead and the other alive with the wrong mother. I like the story but I hope it doesn’t take a year to clear up the baby mess, I feel so bad For Sam, But I will say I do not like that Tea left Landview to come to Port Charles to loose little Victor, and I hope that the rumors at soaptown are right and something bad or good is happening in Port Charles and Heather and whoever she is working with gets caught or let’s us know what or who we are dealing with. I also hope that it is not that bad that it Sents heather back to shaddy brook, I like her crazy or not she is a piece of work and I like Robin mattson no matter what she does, shes that good.

Funny. “Heather can talk a rattlesnake out of it’s skin”. LOL. inasmuch as soaps are led to believe, farfetched… wouldn’t happen in “real” LIFE. it’s FUN escape-ism… Serials… are camp… vouyeuristic flights… that go on forever. I’m sorry we’ve only 4 left… i’m doing my part to champion our soaps.

these are gifted actors… who have risen to the challenge.

Heather is a piece of work. We need her. she’s in the soap annuls… hall of fame for Serials.

aside from her quackiness…. she was so loving with Trevor and lil amanda… years ago…. i ached for her clinging to “her” happiness….

I love Robin mattson, When she was on Santa barbara, all my children, and general hospital, She is a dam good actress and she can play any character you want, and I hope they keep her on general hospital because she makes everything interesting the woman (Heather) is out of her mind and I love it, Of all the originals coming back to general hospital she is my favorite crazy lady, And she is up to something.

If it was for the writers on OLTL Gh wouldn’t have gotten one more year…This is a definite pulse in GH”S favor… Who knows GH couyld be on longer because of the OLTL writers…Without them GH would have been cancelled already and it would have been gone much sooner…So I am happy they are on board……………I like where the stories are going.. Getting away from the mobster stories finally !!!!! After all these years………

like many of us who are posting comments here, ive been a loyal abc sudser fan since the beginning of all of them and have watched General Hospital evolve into Murder Incorporated. I think that the writing team from OLTL mean well by bringing back and perppering the show with several core characters from past decades, played by most of the original actors, giving us more quartermaine presence. But for me the show I remember in all its glory has changed beyond recogniition. To add insult to injury the writers are dumbing down / demolishing character integrity of several characters including Jason, Todd, Luke (who imo has been the most one of the most consistent character on all of soaps mostly because of Anthony Geary) and is now doing the baby switcheroo, this on the heels of killing off Hope. There is so many other paths the writers can take to attract and maintain viewership. I hate to say this but I was not a fan of OLTL under the regime of the team that is now on GH, and they were responsible for the same type of baby storyline debacle that we are getting now. and as much as I love the actress Robin Mattson I cant stand the way she ‘s been written/intergrated on the show, though her acting is right on, so entertaining as alway. But from day one, all the supposedly sharp, trained intelligence, characters known for their keen senses ie Sam, Steve Webber, Olivia, Luke and Tracy, Anna, even Monica are beingt trodden on, insulted, controlled, falling under the spell of (even though they talk as if not) by a known psych/socio path? Too insulting. And, the new Christina grated my last nerve. So for me, after whatever, 45 years or more, I am about to say goodbye to GH. Even as much as I love seeing Michael Easton, it wont be enough to assuage my aversion tofor the direction the show is going in. . I am asking the writers to rethink what they are doing and end the baby switching story by giving Todd a working conscience ande telling Tea the truth.. give the baby back to Sam. And stop making cartoons out of characters. Center the show around Gh instead of the crime syndicate- I must mention that a couple of good things came out of Anthony zacchara’s death besides the obvious, and that is For a few minutes, story was reminiscent of “A weekend with Bernie” and dead Antony as John’s conscience superb. Bruce will be missed. I want my show back in all it’s Glory.. shades of Gloria Monty..
