Days Of Our Lives
Ian Buchanan OUT at Days of our Lives!

Courtesy/NBC
Well that was quite the “quickie”! Soap favorite Ian Buchanan has been the next star let-go by Days of our Lives in their cast cutting and show restructuring under the new writing regime.
Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Daytime Emmy winner Buchanan who first aired in February as Ian McAllister, has been written out of the show. Since production is so far ahead, expect him to appear on screen through the summer. Sarah Brown, who played Ian’s wife, Madison, is scheduled to exit on August 15.
So what does this mean in story? Will Ian and Madison leave the canvas together? Could Ian be the person who shoots Stefano? Let us know your thoughts!
Somene shoots Stefano? Please let it be Lexi now that she knows the truth!
HA! thats a good one! LOL
LOL. That would be perfect. I always suspected that Lexie would save her fam from him. Also, I thought that Ian and Stefano would be involved insome kind of shootout.
I knew it was a matter of time before the execs at NBC started watching the pennies at Days.
I guess the plan is to get rid of the talented, establishled actors and hire a bunch of no-talented newbies ( I hate that word!)
I agree with your comment. It seems that they are going to hire all newbies and get rid of the talented actors. I have had enough of DAYS and I have quit watching from when Sami shot EJ in the head in that horrible, awful episode that Higley thought was good. Ian Buchanan is a great actor and I wish him all the best . He was great on Bold and Beautiful. I wish they would hire him.
Can’t say I’m sorry to see Ian go, the character never really caught on with me. I just wish TPTB would rethink some of their other decisions, like letting Matthew Ashford, Christie Clark, and Patrick Muldoon go.
Can you say Duke Lavery? Bringing Ian back to GH would be good for Anna.
Really ??? There recently was a scene with Anna and Luke talking about their past lovers…. They both laughed when Luke said ” Duke Lavery ?” to Anne.
So, having been the joke of Anne’s bad lovers, I can’t see her wanting him back.
I was just going to say he has been on a lot of soaps he is a good actor but Duke Lavery was the best.
unfortunately we saw Duke Lavery die onscreen (played by another actor because Ian had left GH)… but maybe he could come back as a twin brother! They did that with the Alcazars!
Since when has death stopped a character from returning to a show:)
I’m glad. Never really took to Ian (character) and the storyline hasn’t been good. Plus, the character has done tons of stuff to make viewers hate him. Especially going against Victor and Brady.
Agree-there is no reason to keep him around, except what will Kate do now?
what caught me from the get go… was Ian’s cold and chilling take on his character. something… that is missing from daytime… his adversarial act… with the likes of victor … and the veteran actors on days…. he was another player with Kate. and didn’t have enough time to spar with stefano. so, he wasn’t your atypical love to hate bad guy… but he drew me in… with his from the get go… chilling demeanor. he was showing some vulnerability with Kate.
Agree Patrick. Although I was not crazy about him because he was so mean to Madison I was on the edge of my seat every day waiting for . . . . . something they had coming. I mean there was a reason to cast him & there had to have been a story in place, I guess we’ll just never see it.
By the way I spoke too soon yesterday or the day before about Lexie never knowing EJ wasn’t her blood brother. What crushingly, touching scenes yesterday. Haven’t seen today’s yet.
Maybe getting shot and his daughter dying will soften Stefano up and he’ll take Kate back. I’m sure she’ll be crying by his bedside. Then he’ll fire Sami and give Kate back Countess W.
Gloria: hence, the frustration for us fans… characters.. hired, re-hired… let go.. so quickly… not taking the time to flesh out the character and establish themselves in Salem/geneo city/port charles. the writing of Madison.. was from left field… when Ian came in to town. She didn’t deserve this… both professionally and heck.. personally. She’s another one of those actors.. who gives a dang about soaps. oye! it’s troublesome… what with 4 shows left… where are they now? i’m championing soaps.. and my favorite DAYS.
the best part of Lexie passing… is her scenes with EJ… Man… it’s Moving.. and heart wrenching… for me. to see a man… men… emote with real heart… staggers me. i’ll cry for Isaac when it’s time.
I certainly wish DAYS hadn’t chosen this route… to depart Lexie in this manner… ala the Carvers.. with the delish Celeste…. why not leave the door open for Renee Jones… it’s destroying soap history/Genre/Serials. in the meantime.. remember, when Fay.. was a possible romantic link to Abe…. when she was waitressing at the dinner at the pier? Nicoles Mother… Fay.. no questions asked… no dream sequence.. just have her back. for Nicole.. she needs family and this would bring back a love interest for Abe… and possible ramifications for future Lexie reconciliation. Just saying.
Isaac… Theo.
Those scenes with Lex and EJ were fabulous. And so sad!
I was thinking after Lexie told EJ everything what if he could somehow whisk her away to a clinic in Switzerland or something to try for a cure. Then at least she would not have to be dead-Abe & Theo could go “visit” with her & it would leave the door open for Renee. Heck she could stay in the clinic for years-look at Laura on GH. Anway, I agree with you I will hate to see her death. And I would love to have Fay back. SAD SAD.
I really liked Kate & Stefano together. They seemed to bring out the better side of each other. He sure will need someone now. Who does he have left, Chad & Theo?
Will the “real” Duke Lavery come back to PC to show the “keystone mobsters” how to protect your family by getting out of the mob? I wonder if Duke is one of the people being held with Robin?
Hate the character, but Buchanan is a talented actor. He will quickly get a job. Now this leaves Stefano and Kate to reconcile…assuming Stefano survives the shooting.
Stefano has to survive the shooting. and it would take a desperate act for Lexi to be the shooter. Tho at this juncture she would have nothing left to lose.
I don’t think anyone is upset about this, his character never clicked. He’s not good playing the villian.
But it sucks that Kate will be without a love interest. unless she’s with Stefano, who I prefer her with.
do you remember, when Laura and Bill came home for Grans funeral? Bill and Kate fell outa the tv. they were so real. they need to bring jenns mom Laura and Bill Horton back… this would be a great dynamic and trio to mix in with the veterans. Kate/Laura/Bill… with Stefano fighting back….. whilst Kristen (i hope) helms the Dimera Empire. teasing John and Marlena. top this all off with Peter Blake and Jennifer Horton. Toast to the hour glass.
Well we know who shot JR I mean Stefano…and he is gonna return to save his family…because MAR/DAR left it that there seems no way Stefano can repair his family (because he post have stayed dead) thank U Tomlin for getting him back the miracle is how Tomlin is going to explain why stefano treated EJ like a bug under his shoe and why totally distroy his wife and reconcile…I say he has to save them form Ian
No disrespect to Ian Buchanan, but the character of Ian McAlister did not appeal to me. However, I did want to see Stefano go after Ian because of Kate. That would have been fun to watch. Stefano could have done whatever to Ian and gotten away with it because Ian was not a central character.
But the story is not over yet. So who knows how this will turn out?
I like Ian Buchanan and he’s a fine actor. With Days letting Stefano actually die this time (or will they?) I was expecting Ian to step up and handle the villain role on Days. They’ve had way too many writing changes at Days in just the last year. Storylines have been dropped in thin air and they’ve left us hanging on so many things. I love watching this soap and I hope the writers don’t ruin it.
I think Ian will be the one that murdered Stefano.
Hopefully Ian Buchanan will be asked back to General Hospital!!! It’s a perfect time to bring back Duke Lavery. Viewers from the 80’s would love to see Anna and Duke together again. The show has been great recently, and this would make it even better!
yes is ian mc allister or john
